    Not sure if I had Creeping Charlie or some other kind of leafy ground Ivy that was taking over my yard. I tried different weed killers but they would not touch this stuff. I then used this method and it did WORK! Yes! Thank you so much for this helpful video.

    I have two selective herbicides. "Q4 Plus" with 2,4, dimethylamine salt. and "4-Speed XT" with 2,4, Dichloroophenoxyacetic Acid. Which is the correct one, if any? They both have Dicamba. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Dave

    Credit to this tip. I've fought this weed for years and even with professional lawn treatment it just keeps spreading. Applied the mule team and within a week the areas I hit hard are brown and dead. The areas with medium coverage are curling up. Applied the 2-4-D today and hope to see even more results. This is a great plan

      @@claytonchristensen6273 so it burnt of most of the ground Ivy which was great because it slowed down the growth. I did exactly what he said borax and water first then a weed killer (I used weed b gon but don't use weed b gon max it's garbage). I did this last year and the ground ivy was much better this year.

    Question that hasn't been answered elsewhere - - will it kill this plant to weed whack very low to the ground, chopping all leaves off the charlie? I did this in one section of my lawn and I'm wondering if it's going to come back just as quickly. It does expose roots easier.

    Two questions.
    First: Is the Borax treatment harmful to my doggie and my soon to be chickens? Or can I just keep them away from the area for the hour of time you recommend waiting afterwards? (Same question for the lawn weed killer.)
    Second: Do you know if this will work for Virginia Creeper? I had never heard of that plant until I moved to coastal NC and it's all over the ground in a back area of my yard.
    I love plants so much but I am not too sure I love invasive species like Virgina Creeper.
    Thank you for a great video (even though I'm a late bloomer to your channel...LOL). Off to watch the second one now.

    I have 2 acres of land of which half is turf area. We've used local contractors to kill weeds (Weed Man for one) for years who neglected the work (I caught their employees park in our drive way for half hour and drove off) and caused our turf to be overtaken by weeds. I then hired a different contractor and used them for two years but they have not been able to make a difference and told me they couldn't get the solution to rid of the creeping charlie (new strand of weed in the area apparently) and that I should just scrape off everything and start a new. Not only will this cost a fortune given the land mass, I don't trust these contractors anymore and decided to take matters into my own hands. I spent days researching for the solution (I didn't even know what the weed was called) online and stumbled upon your video. Thank you and will give the technique a try and prey it works! Question 1: You recommend the 20 Mule Team Borax "detergent booster & multi-purpose household cleaner". I am in process of ordering the pump sprayer (4 Gal backpack), and Borax online (Amazon.ca), I found the one (identical package as your video) for C$75.73 plus shipping (76oz). One of the comments directed me to purchasing the same at Walmart Canada, it costs C$5.77 (1.84kg), same brand but different colour box that says "nature's freshener". Are these same or different and can I use either one for the job? Question 2: Can I use the 4 Gal pump sprayer for the job instead of a fine mist spray bottle you suggested since I am dealing with half acre of affected area? One of the purchasers of the pump sprayer said his machine got clogged up using powder mix (non-liquid) after first use. Can I mix the solution in a bucket and dissolve it completely before pouring into the machine? Please help! FYI, I live in northern part of Quebec province and we get extreme temperature changes from below freezing level to 25C until June 1. I watched your 2017 video. My plan is to get rid of the weeds, replenish the soil, seed......

    I tried Borax once and about killed my grass - turned it yellow. However, I just saw this video (2021) and didn't dilute the borax at 5oz/gal water. I think you have to be very careful because that stuff stays in the ground. Does the Lawn Care Nut regret pushing Borax as a solution? Strangely enough, I'm going to go ahead and try this method simply because I TRUST the Lawn Care Nut. Here's hoping.

    I used Trimec concentrate on a majority of my front lawn last fall to kill off the creeping charlie and clover. Worked great in one application. My wife is just as big of a lawn nut as i am, she hand pulled every single runner of it out after it was dead. She said the Trimec actually made it easier to get out after it was dead. Took about 1 week to wilt, and another week to completely brown out. I just enjoyed watching her in her bikini top in the front yard being a yard nut! The neighbors did also I'm sure! Double Domination!

    Don't you just love when you move into a new house, with a troubled salad bar lawn and see creeping charlie everywhere - you remember 2+ years ago watching LCN's series on how to use, and you remember the Borax but you go back and re-watch the video series anyways and get treated with some sweet green screen action and the old music.... That old music though - every time I hear it, just makes me want to get out in the lawn.

    I have creeping charlie all over the place this year. It was never so bad! Lots of weird stuff this year with weeds.
    On the other hand, the majority of my grass is doing well, but the specific problem areas are bigger problems this year than any year before.

      @@TheTurbomopar Sorry, I had forgotten about my post. Happy news. The procedure worked great, even without the borax. I made first application around Sept , which in our area is when grass is coming out of summer dormancy. The kill was gradual, but this spring I have very little remaining CC. I'd say I killed more than 95%.

    Hi. I have creeping charlie on my turf. We in canada can't use 2 4d. Can I use this borax solution to kill weed alone ? Without 2 4d ? After how long I can re apply it. Or it will get too strong and can kill lawn too...

    Another good tip for weed control. I keep treat my mom has a little creeping Charlie or is it creeping Jenny with weed killer and it would yellow but never go away. I'll have to try the Borax. I always add some dish soap not anti bacteria soap to my weed control tank sprayer. Could you show us how to mix grass seed while your fertilizer maybe a fall video? I know Tru green does this when they fertilize there lawns. Can't wait for vid 2 on creeping Charlie!

    I've been pulling it out by hand. Had about 8 patches roughly 1/4-1/2sw ft. It seems to like to grow mostly where the lawn meets the walkway. I'm hoping my kentucky bluegrass will fill it in, but maybe I should reseed these areas.

    Borax on its own did not take care of my Charlie. I'm trying to avoid chemicals but have decided to try tenacity this fall after reading many reviews on it. Would it be smart to apply borax then tenacity? I was thinking of spraying borax and then hitting it with two applications of tenacity two weeks later.

    "Charlie" has taken over about 75% of my back yard...so I hope this treatment is suitable for a large area. I've tried to get rid of it each year for the past 2 or 3, but not successfully. Is this treatment good to do now, or should I wait until the Fall...which is what I heard from a different source?

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Syrbuff you can do it now. It will work on large areas but for me, it's easier to divide and conquer. Work on sections.

    It best to get better quality herbicide with higher concentrations of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic and Triclopyr, like Crossbow or TZone. Big box companies like ortho usually have more watered down concentrations of these chemicals. Make sure you wear gloves and probably best to wear a respirator if you are spraying large areas

    A few questions.
    What’s the best time of year to do this
    I’m starting my over seed process now will this method of killing the creeping Charlie interfere with it? Should I just wait until very end of fall after new grass has taken hold?
    Thanks

      Clover is not a problem. It adds nitrogen to the soil and creates soil life. Listen to mother nature. Don't destroy her - by trying to grow the grass that is killing our planet just by "maintaining" it.

    • @mikeleikam2892
      @mikeleikam2892 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mirla Lacen don't think getting rid of clover in my lawn will destroy the world. Plenty of wild clover growing on the river Banks and along the highways in Nebraska!

      Mirla Lacen who the hell is putting toxins on my yard? I have pets and kids/ grandkids that play in my yard. Getting tired of people deciding what is right or wrong for my home and family. I want a nice looking lawn the kids can play on! I do habitat restoration on a couple miles of land that the company I worked for own. Plenty of wild clover and natural grasses and other forage for the critters. We put out food plots and get old corn from grain elevators for deer and birds. We think the predators every fall and winter to keep a good balance between predators and prey. We've raised quail and released them there. We've stocked the ponds with fish. I don't think we've damaged mother nature here by mowing or taking care of our lawns!

    I would add not to spray the lawn if the temp is over 85, or raining, best early morning while the dew is on the grass, it will soak up the chemical better , or right after sun down, low wind condition's, follow up with a pre emergent herbicide
