This showed up in my feed today. This is what I have started using and it works like a dream on the kyllinga and chamberbitter that showed up this year in centipede this year after we had a hard freeze that damaged several spots. It takes about a week to start seeing the results and a few weeks to really know out the kyllinga but things like dandylions are gone in about 2 weeks. Yes, it's expensive but so is my time and this combo works without the lawn showing any signs of stress. I've used other products and the lawn yellows from it and it doesn't give as good of results on the broad spectrum. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work providing folks like me with information to help keep our lawns looking awesome.

Thanks for this weed killing combination. I just received Certainty and I already have a bottle of Celsius. Looking forward to seeing the results. Your insight and information is greatly appreciated.
@@RonHenry Staring at my yard yesterday. It's basically perfect zoysia palisades. This is it's best time of year with new growth and reasonable warm temps and moisture. Except that I have nutsedge all over the place, and it seems recent. I figured out what I had done wrong. I have been mowing the weedy part of my lot AFTER my main yard, then parking the mower on the driveway and blowing it off before I put it away, and it's then covered in grass clippings (and seeds). I missed my second application of pre-emergent this year, and presto.... Nutsedge. And some other weeds too. I've got some Certainty and Celsius ordered and I think I need to do a broadcast application, as this stuff seems pretty scattered all over the lawn. Dont' have the experience to determine if the zoysia will choke these out, but I think nutsedge is pretty tough and chemicals are a good call here. Hopefully I can get this done before it gets much hotter, and the wife has a big party scheduled in a few weeks that I'll have to do this after in case the yard gets burned a little bit... sorry to ramble. maybe others can learn from my mistake just how important the pre-emergent is that I got lazy with.....
Great video! Yes, reading the directions is good....but they most times aren't specific enough. Okay, it's good for so many square feet....okay, how heavy am I applying that? You FINALLY answered that question...spot spraying, and medium speed, leaving wet with no runoff. Only one pass on short stuff. Maybe a second pass on the other side of long stuff. THANKS!!! 👍😁
Good advice, especially READ THE LABEL! I'm a professional applicator, and combos like this are my standard weed control fare TWO thoughts: 1) Identify the problem weeds and study labels online to see what weeds each herbicide actually control. 2) BE AWARE OF COST! The professional-grade herbicides aren't cheap; they cost around $100 _each_ per container.
Totally agree Pete. The label is law. Also agree about the cost of these products. Granted they go a really long way but you really have to ask yourself if want to spend the money on them. Realistically if you're applying pre-emergent in the spring and fall, and mowing regularly, you shouldn't have big issues with weeds. Appreciate you chiming in sir. Always cool hearing from industry pros. Thanks for watching. 🙏😎
@@RonHenry My pleasure, sir! 😎 I've spent several evenings flipping between labels, looking for the most comprehensive combo for the various weeds in the Birmingham, AL area. It gets annoying at times...😉
Wow!! Great information in a well delivered presentation. You will be doing great things in your future. These product companies should be hiring you for marketing. Thank you👍🏽
Excellent Ron! IMO, a tracker dye is mandatory to prevent overlap (which correlates to an over application). Selective, post emergent weed suppression requires precision. Glad to see you using it. Another suggestion would be to use a battery powered drill and paddle mixer (like for mixing paint) to get a good, thorough mixture. Well done video... as usual.
I appreciate it Richard. I had a section of video showing using a drill to mix everything up. It made the video a bit longer and with it only being 2 gallons I figured most viewers are just going to shake the tank for 30 seconds instead anyways. It's a great point though. I should have left it in. 😬 Appreciate the feedback as always sir. Hope all is going well on your end.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I may have described my issue wrong. I did take you advice and purchased the tips a week or so ago. What I say were brass angled fittings that the tips were installed in, that's what I'd like to add to my arsenal.
Ohhhhh. The brass angled fittings an be made with these 3 parts. Quick Connect Coupler: ron-henry.com/quickconnectcoupler 45 Degree Adapter: ron-henry.com/teejetadapter TeeJet End Cap: ron-henry.com/teejetendcap Hope this helps.
Awesome videos Ron! They are so well done, easy to watch, succinct, and very helpful. I have a Tif 419 lawn installed by builder less than a year ago. I see lots of common Bermuda in it. How does that happen? How can I prevent more from coming in? How can I get rid of it? Thanks!
Hi Turbo TylerIX. Short of pulling it, you'll have a difficult time getting rid of the common out of your Tifway. There's not really a herbicide that will target only common Bermuda and not damage your Tifway as well. If it' really looks bad, you could try having them replace the sod. My base lawn is Tifway 419 and had a bit of common in it as well. I just ignore it for the most part. When it's all mowed short, you can't easily see it unless you're up really close. Appreciate you watching.
That's a tough one Brian. The herbicide that's really effective against Dallisgrass unfortunately isn't labeled for residential use anymore. Physically removing it will likely be your best bet.
You truly are a professional! Your video and communication skills are both informative, to the point and clear. I will be trying your recommendation / suggestions on products to use and applications. Two thumbs up to you.
As always great video. This is a great combo I've been using in a dedicated 1 gal pump tank for spot treatments. I use such a small amount of product when mixing, both bottles will last for years. I recently mixed both at the high rate, took care of some nutsedge, crabgrass, and kyllinga. I accidentally over applied and a little by my mailbox. My Zenith Zoysia had some very slight yellowing and slower growth, but after a 3-5 days it was back to normal. The nutsedge in that area quickly turned black within a week.
The problem is Celsius and certainty have a shelf life of 3 years, these will last me 10 yrs on an area 3000 sq ft! I have a 5 pound container of Prodiamine going on 3 yrs, this is the last winter I can use it and I paid $125 for it!😂😂😂😂
You're awesome. Loved the video. I pay for a lawn service and my lawn is still overrun with crabgrass and Johnson grass. Whatever commercial chemicals they use 4 times a year don't work great.
Sorry to hear that Mufash888. If they're only coming out 4 times per year, that's unlikely to be enough. Hopefully they're putting down pre-emergent. That works well to prevent crabgrass.
Curious how safe this mix is when the lawn is used by pets. My dogs romp on the lawn every day, and I am wary of letting them do that after applying this . How long should I keep them off the lawn after an application? They sniff everything and often lick dew off the grass in the morning, so I am very concerned about their health if I use such an approach.
I would keep them off the lawn for 24 hours if you're trying to be super safe. Realistically once it dries you're ok, but give it an entire day just to be uber safe. Hope this helps.
Well it’s poison, so you should probably just let plants grow, it will also slowly poison you and your water supply, your neighbors, wild animals, your family etc.
Great video Ron Some of the prices for professional grade herbicide can be substantial, so it was useful to see just how little needs to be mixed in with water. Overall I’m reassured that my purchase could go a lot further than I had previously thought 👍
For sure Shazia. In most cases, a purchase of these homeowners is going to last several years. If you're doing the other things right (pre-emergent and regular mowing), you really shouldn't need to use them very often. As long as they're kept dry, they'll last a really long time.
I just purchased my first home at the end of 2020 and the previous owner didn’t do ANY lawn care. Bare spots, every weed you can think of and multiple different types of grass. I’ve been hand pulling a lot of the easy stuff but after 2 years I’m down to rugged weeds that need spraying. I live in central FL and I’m trying to focus on the bits of zoysia to help them spread. I recently tried Tenacity. I saw on the bottle it says zoysia is sensitive to it so I used a patch as a test area. I’m 2 days in so we’ll see how it holds up. I may try your combo here next if it scorches my zoysia patch
Hi Michael. It's not a good idea to spray Zoysia or any warm season grass with Tenacity. It's designed for cool season grass like Rye and KBG, not Bermuda and Zoysia. Celsius and Certainty are MUCH less likely the damage your Zoysia than Tenacity. If you haven't sprayed the Tenacity yet, I wouldn't do so. Hope this helps.
I did spray it on most of the property, which is basically 100% weeds and dirt. Only a small spot about 4x4 on the zoysia in a shady area just out of curiosity. I’m definitely using the mix you suggested when I get ready to spray around the desirable areas. Thanks for the info! Subscribed
Thanks for your advice about not using Tenacity on bermuda grass. I did spot treat already, but the damage to the bermuda seems temporary. My problem is goose grass in my common bermuda lawn. Will Celsius kill goose grass?
The damage will be temporary Jere. Bermuda will likely recover from the damage. It's just not something I would do going forward. Celsius won't kill goosegrass but Revolver will. Not inexpensive though: ron-henry.com/revolver
@@RonHenry Awesome thanks! I’ll try that in a few more areas that I see Bermuda popping up. Question, how long do I have to wait before I can throw down some zoysia seed to fill in the thin spots - same question herbicides you covered in this video.
Yes it can Davis. You can blanket the entire lawn. This is part of why I’m such a fan of the combination. golfcourselawn.store/collections/lawn-weed-killers
Hey Ron - I'm in DFW Texas, and was wondering WHEN is the best time through the season to apply the Celcius/Certainty combo? My lawn is getting pretty overun with Nutsedge and I'm ready to knock it out, but the grass is healthy and green so I don't want to hurt it. It's the end of July, and we've had a fairly mild summer this year, but we are rolling into August and September (otherwise known as HELL'S FRONT PORCH in North Texas!)
Good Job Ron. I use this combo on my Centipede and it works great. I tried the blue dye at a higher rate and I still cannot see where I have sprayed? I may need to get checked for color blindness. You have outstanding communication skills my friend.
Ron, as an old applicator your statement about hot weather >85* should have a preamble. Both chemicals can go VOILITAL. So spray in hot weather cautiously your homeowners insurance will be happier
Ron thanks for the video really helps me out with my yard and will better help prepare for the summer, but does the combination of Celsius and Certainty work during the winter. My bermuda is dormant but there are a couple types of weeds in the yard that I would like to get rid of, temps are mid 40s/50s during the day.
Yes it does Charles. You can use it with temps in the 40s and 50s. Cooler weather weeds like henbit and clover are controlled with this combo. golfcourselawn.store/products/celsius-and-certainty-herbicide-kit-with-surfactant-and-dye
Glad I found this videos and thanks for the detailed instruction! Went to the website in your links and ordered up a kit with all 4. Can't wait to tackle my lawn. One question though...will this work just as good in planting beds as in the lawn? I would assume so, but just wanted to ask. Thanks again! Subscribed👍
I appreciate the support JimZRyd. Your order will ship tomorrow. Really appreciate the support. And yes. It'll work in beds too. Just keep it on the weeds and off any plants in the beds.
@@RonHenry Thanks Ron! I've been fighting weeds for years especially in the beds and lawn on one side of my property. That neighbor doesn't treat for anything and my yard suffers. I can spend an entire weekend pulling the weeds in those beds and they'll be back within a week. I'll keep you posted on my results👍🏻
This video is so well done and informational. I just sodded with Zoysia 10 weeks ago (March 21, 2024), live in Middle TN, zoysia is greening up nicely but I have so many weeds showing up. Can I use this herbicide combination on my new sod or should I wait a certain amount of time ? Thanks for your great videos.
Glad it was helpful Shane. Would wait until you're regularly mowing before spot spraying. Can get it here: golfcourselawn.store/products/celsius-and-certainty-herbicide-kit-with-surfactant-and-dye
DALLISGRASS! Hey Ron, just subscribed and enjoying your informative vids. I'm also a Georgia resident and have gotten familiar with the plethora of weeds down here; I'm finding your lawn care series very helpful. Thanks so much! One recent invader I've come up against is a beast called Dallisgrass; nothing seems to kill it save for spot treating it with Roundup. Rather than use a spray on it, I "paint" the leaves with Roundup using a small sponge brush (lotsa fun). The leaf-painting technique seems to limit collateral damage to my Zoysia and results in a relatively small dead spot. I looked up Celsius ...did a little online research ...and it seems Celsius does work against Dallisgrass. I haven't had personal experience, yet, with using Celsius against Dallisgrass, but I intend to shortly. You might consider adding controlling Dallisgrass ...maybe make a video on the subject ...because if you get this stuff in your lawn? It can literally take over your grass. The stuff is easily confused with crabgrass; as a DIY/Homeowner you're powerless to do anything about Dallisgrass with any of the consumer-grade herbicides ...save for a shot of Roundup on the plant. What I've read thus far seems to indicate a dedicated effort using both pre and post emergent treatments. One minor sugestion: you might consider letting folks know that "commercial grade" herbicides are expensive; the offset is how little you need and how long those bottles of Celsius and Certainty are going to last. Cheers!
Appreciate the feedback Mike. Certainty will injure Dallisgrass. Celsius won’t do too much to it. There’s not really a residential herbicide that will eliminate it. Your best bet is to physically remove it. Otherwise it will keep coming back.
@@RonHenry Thanks for the reply Ron. Well looks like I'll stick with painting Roundup on the Dallisgrass plants. I still plan on using the Certainty; maybe between the two I can get rid of it.
I Roberta. Depends on which grass it is. If you're careful to keep it away from the flowers, you can use RoundUp. You have to be careful though since that herbicide will kill any plants it touches.
I'm a new subscriber from Germany and love you videos. Unfortunately, almost all, if not all, of the lawn care products you recommend are not available here. Products such as Tenacity, Celcius, and Certainty cannot be found. The active ingredient of Tenacity is available to commercial corn farmers, but cannot be purchased in small quantities by the private consumer. Sadly, it is much easier to find unicorn tears in bulk than to find one small bottle of any of the products you recommend. The best I can do, for now, is watch your videos for techniques.
Hi JJ76. This combination is only for warm season grass like Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine, etc. Don't use it on cool season grass like rye or kbg. It will kill them. Appreciate you watching.

You should get good results D J. I've gotten lots of good feedback on the combination.
Fun video Ron! Kept me hooked the entire time and I don’t even have warm season grass! 😂
Oh and thanks for the shout out!
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching. You already have a great video for controlling weeds in cool season grass so it made sense to reference it. 👍😎
This is such a great video! Provides all the necessary ingredients with the links and just the right amount of information! Perfect!
Glad it was helpful Vijay! Thank you for watching sir.
Exactly what I was looking for, and super well presented. Well done!
Glad it was helpful Mark g! Thanks so much for watching.
Ron, you have hit another home run. Been looking for a vid that attacks "my" weeds. Thanks.
Appreciate it Jon. Glad it's a helpful one. Thanks for watching.
THANKS!!! 👍😁
Happy it was useful Phil! Please share the video with anyone else you think would find it useful. Appreciate you watching. Thanks for the support. 🙏😎
Last two days I have watched a few of your vids. Why haven’t I ever seen this guy. Great job teaching.! Earned my sub.
Thanks so much Aaron. I really appreciate it. Glad you're finding the content useful.
Good advice, especially READ THE LABEL! I'm a professional applicator, and combos like this are my standard weed control fare
TWO thoughts: 1) Identify the problem weeds and study labels online to see what weeds each herbicide actually control.
Thank you for the video; I have a question, I’m Florida and I have St. Augustine grass is this combination safe for this type of sod?
@@freddyrojas1374 Yes Freddy. This combination can be used on St. Augustine. Be sure to read the label though.
@@RonHenry for sure, thank you

Wow!! Great information in a well delivered presentation. You will be doing great things in your future. These product companies should be hiring you for marketing. Thank you👍🏽
Thank you so much. Really appreciate that.
@@RonHenry Makes perfect sense Ron. Please keep up the great work.
Or thoroughly mix your concoction separately, then pour into the water tank and shake.
@@felipelabomba848 That's an option too.
Just bought my home in Texas, will be lurking your account for a while. Great stuff
Appreciate you watching. Congrats on the new place.
Excellent content my brother! This is making me rethink how I’ve been using Celsius
Great to hear Desmund! Glad it was useful.

Best video I have seen on weed control. Thank you!
Appreciate it Irene!
The tiger woods of lawn care
I'll take that as a compliment! :-)
subscribed, love your enthusiasm. you make it seem easy to take care of your own lawn.
It’s really not too difficult.
Great video, now if you have a magic formula for Dallis grass in St.Augustine, ii south Texas lawns, I would appreciate seeing that,!!!
Glad it was helpful! I really appreciate the feedback and you watching the content sir. Please feel free to share it. Thanks for the support. 🙏😎
Nice Christopher. Thanks for letting me know how it worked for you. It's not a cheap combination, but works really well. Thanks for chiming in.
The problem is Celsius and certainty have a shelf life of 3 years, these will last me 10 yrs on an area 3000 sq ft!
I have a 5 pound container of Prodiamine going on 3 yrs, this is the last winter I can use it and I paid $125 for it!😂😂😂😂
@Wardcreek 🤷♂️
Really appreciate you watching.
@@RonHenry found you from @TopNotchLawnCare glad he posted about you. 😊

Awesome! Thank you Frankie. We may not agree on Arden 15, but at least we break bread on warm season herbicides right!? 🙏😎
@@RonHenry hehehehe. Fair enough. Hehehehe. Herbicide buddie lol 😂
@@RonHenry Thanks so much for the prompt reply.
If you have to wear boot, and glove, it's not seen safe at all.
Well it’s poison, so you should probably just let plants grow, it will also slowly poison you and your water supply, your neighbors, wild animals, your family etc.
Thanks for taking the time to create this very excellent video.
Appreciate you watching.
I thought about killing the weeds in my yard, but sometimes my weeds are greener than my neighbor's grass.
That's the case sometimes!
Love to see the subscriber amount climb. Going to get both of these from your store. I told my neighbor about your channel and he is hooked.
Awesome! Thank you Perpetual Student. I appreciate the support.
Great video Ron
Some of the prices for professional grade herbicide can be substantial, so it was useful to see just how little needs to be mixed in with water.

If I ever move South and have warm season turf I know what video to reference! Great stuff Ron!

I have Bermuda in my zoysia lawn, and if it’s a small spot, I just cut it out and replace it with a zoysia plug from an inconspicuous part of my yard.
That works TheWatcher. You can also use Fusilade 2 to remove Bermuda in Zoysia lawns: ron-henry.com/fusilade_2

Spray whenever the weed you're targeting is actively growing.
You sir, are a Southern national treasure.

Good Job Ron. I use this combo on my Centipede and it works great. I tried the blue dye at a higher rate and I still cannot see where I have sprayed? I may need to get checked for color blindness. You have outstanding communication skills my friend.
Thanks Shane! Usually the dye shows up pretty well. If you’re not seeing it at higher concentrations something isn’t right.
Great video! Both those products are extremely effective. Use as recommended and see for yourself!!!
Absolutely!

Otherwise it will keep
coming back.
@@RonHenry Thanks for the reply Ron. Well looks like I'll stick with painting Roundup on the Dallisgrass plants. I still plan on using the Certainty; maybe between the two I can get rid of it.
How long after application can we water ? Excellent video, perfect presentation and to the point. Thanks !
Wait until the following day to water.
Perfect ! Thanks for the super quick reply ! @@RonHenry

Mr. Ron how do you kill grass in the flowers bed thank you for information about the weeds have a safe day
Sorry you can’t get them there Mike. They make quick work of the weeds
