I have to be honest. I am a Mopar guy, but my cousin, back in 1966 bought a brand new '66 396, 375, 4spd. Kind of what I call a seafoam green. He came over to the house, I was 14...took me out for about a half hour. He hooked me on American muscle with this car, still a Mopar guy, but have a special place in my heart for the 1966 Chevelle 396/375.
I had a 68 & 69 w/383 stroker. ALWAYS wanted the 66 & 67 to make the set complete. Then I discovered reality. I'm not at all rich. Plus the 69 cost me thousands in speeding tickets, suspensions, reinstatements, house arrests, etc. Wouldn't trade those memories for a clean record, I'm still smiling almost 2 decades later. You're only young once, don't piss it away being old. Trust me, there's plenty of time for that later in life. SIDEWAYS IN A CLOUD OF SMOKE! Otherwise, what's the point?
Love this model Chevelle with a 4 in the floor. Happy Birthday man. I remember 29 even though that was 30 years ago lol. Oh by the way, use a thin layer of white lithium grease on the clutch spring and don't use WD40 on it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My ol man has a 66ss in his garage. He got the body and paint done 11yrs ago and hasn't moved it since, idk why he's so weird about it. Guessing I'll inherit it just the way it sits now.
Big 292 wow!!! Is it the complete car, finished and drivable or does it need engine and stuff yet? It would take a hell of a man to have The willpower to let one of these sit in a garage for 11 years without taking her out on every sunny day!!! I don’t have that willpower. I believe they should be driven every chance you can and not babied.
@@1982MCI yeah, it's got a tired 454 and a 4spd Munchie just payed in it. A weekend of wrenching I'd say it would be drive ready by Monday. Who knows what it needs now that it's sat tho, brakes, lines, tires, exedra.
This, is a beautiful car! The 66 is one of the most sought after Chevelles of them all. There were several scale model companies back in the mid 70's that had different versions and colors of these cars and they would be sold out at the 5 and 10(dime) store everytime I went there to get one. Finally I did get one... it was red with chrome wheels.... I was a happy 10 year old boy.... man the memories these cars seem to bring out of our aged momories. You wont have this one long Nick is all I can say. Nice 66 Chevelle, nice motor under the hood, nice color and minimal fixing up. Beautiful!
Happy birthday bro. This is a really great old hot rod for the money. Body, paint interior look very nice for a 50+ year old car. I would change the steering wheel out to a wood grain to look retro correct. One word for this one, SWEET ! Note, high clutch pedal is for quicker shifting. We used to do that for racing, many years ago.
Enjoyed the presentation on the car. The part shown while waiting for wife, really displayed your true character. Remarkable Gentleman and values. You are the type to trust in business. At 17, I bought a 1968 SS 396 325hp 3sp on the floor. Loved that car and 8 track player. 😁 By the time you reach my age, you can tell the youth that you have driven thousands of muscle of the 60'and later, and that my friend is true bragging rights.
This car reminds me of the one my Buddy had when we were in High School. Its only missing the speaker wires on the passenger floorboard running to the back. My buddy ended up in a tangle with some older guy that was chasing and shooting at him with a revolver. When they went through a intersection the road at high speed acted like a ramp. When they landed my buddies foot mashed the throttle and his tires spun putting him into a tree at about 50 miles per hour. My buddy and his girlfriend both were banged up pretty badly but survived. Never heard from the shooter again.
Appreciate the time you took making this video and not hiding some of its flaws. I don't recall seeing under the hood or in the trunk area. Some close ups of the dash would have been nice too... maybe for the next one.
Nick, you seem to have the cream of the crop when it comes to these classic cars. This is a beautiful Chevelle. I miss driving a stick shift. Also, Nick, you look like a schoolboy again without your beard.
Nothing wrong with a 66 Chevelle with a 454 4 speed, can't got wrong with that combo. I think the 66 is one of the nicest classiest Chevelle's that GM ever built.
Sweet 66 Chevelle. I'm doing a restoration and hotrod conversion to my Grandma's 66 Chevelle 2 door post. Dropped in a .040" over 427 Rat and switched from automatic to Muncie 4 speed. Adding disc brakes and power booster soon and swapping tired front springs out for correct big block coils. Sounds wicked buy brakes are too weak to test it out right now.
Nick had an unfair advantage getting such a pretty wife , " hun if you marry me i'll pick you up in a different cool ass muscle car ever day " what do you say 🤷♂️ ? ☞ I do 👩 :) 😉
Damn. I would've bought this in a NY second... nice car for the money, despite needing a few things (which is why it was priced the way it was). Great video, as always. 👏👏👏👏
I want it!!! What's your best offer?!?!? I'm coming to buy it. Thank you!!! Shoot I thought this was a brand new video!!! Ok, I'm sure it's sold by now. 😔😕☹️😣 I wish TH-cam wouldn't air these after they've been sold!!!! You have the best job ever!!!!!
Wish it was a 67 then it would have front discs. Still a nice car though. The easy fix to that though is to find a totaled out 67 Malibu somewhere and grab the front spindles off of it and poof! Front discs. Oh and Happy Birthday!
Yourself and your companion failed to attach seat belts towards the end of this video. nice car though. I wish i were 29 yrs but that was a long, long, long time ago. Be safe. Shout out from NYC.

I had a '66 when I graduated High School ! 396/375 with 4 speed, Marina Blue ! Wish I still had it !
I had a beat up 350 '74 Nova in high school, lol
I know what you mean, I bought a 1970 ss 396 in 1973 at the age of 16, I wish I still had it , it was a special car and time in my life

This was my high school car and wish I still had it ,really like this one.
Can only dream how much fun that was. Fantastic car.
On the horn check the 20 amp accessory fuse. They used to blow. It also affects cigarette lighter.
WD-40 is actually a degreaser. What you actually need, for door hinges as well, is lithium grease.
Yea, I use WD 40 or blaster to clean it, then lithium grease.
@@mustangpassurchevy that's the whole job done then......no need to go there again for a long time...

Same here... Be 60 in June.
There’s nothing like the sound of a healthy big block. The color is perfect, and the rally wheels are as well.
That is one classy Chevelle. Beautiful color and nice tune to the exhaust. Gotta love those M-21 4 speeds.
Swapped my Muncie shifter for a Hurst competition. Night and day
Swords to Plowshares
A beautiful 66 haul da mail Chevelle
Happy birthday NICK 😎🇺🇸🦅👍🏻when you hit 40 that’s when you see and feel the differences 😎

The correct big block for '66 was the 396 though. The 454 wasn't available until '70.
Happy happy birthday honey!! Sorry I kept you waiting so long 😂

Hi Mrs Nick, since you kept Nick waiting so long on his birthday, you should buy him this Car lol

I did the same build on my 427 Chevelle but if it's a cruiser, I would go with the TKO 600 5 speed tyranny.
Thanks guys! Love those test drives tho. That 66 chevelle is a gear heads dream. Take care. Happy Bithday!
Beautiful car I love stic with this Big block 454
Man this is a nice machine

Sounds like a Muncie 4spd. With that gear whine. Beautiful sound either way. 😍
Perhaps this beauty may have the infamous Muncie M-22 “Rock Crusher” transmission judging by the sounds we hear on this great video Nick made!!
I prefer the Muncie m21
