22K views, wtf?!?! I seriously thought this wouldn't get more than maybe 300 views when I uploaded this. I'm very glad people enjoyed the video!
First, for those who may not know, I just wanna say that there are a lot of old Minecraft channels with cooler videos than this. Bugmancx, The Last Block, Mongster, BoxBlair, a Woolen Sleevelet, and probably a lot more that I'm forgetting or don't know about.
Second, I made a world download. -Link in the description!- Apparently I need to be verified before I can put links in the description lol. Here it is: www.planetminecraft.com/project/beta-1-7-3-survival-world/
Finally, just want to say that I'm definitely planning on making more of these now. Probably not very frequently... but they will come!

I kinda wish I was born a little sooner and experienced beta minecraft when it was the only minecraft, with none of the newer features that ruin the charm it had.

There's something slightly sad and maybe even a little eerie about playing in a world that used to be a sprawling server with your friends. You pass little parts of the world, things you built together, things other people made, places you laughed together. Slowly people stopped logging on as much, life gets busy, and for whatever reason you end up being the last one. As a fellow last man on the server, this was so cool to see, I'm glad you still enjoy playing in the world!

That’s the sad reality of all minecraft worlds. They will all be left empty with no one to play them.
I created a multiplayer world with my brother and we had a great time, I still play it but he’s long since lost interest. I tried advertising it online with a few players joining but they left as well. Now it’s just me building houses and towns on my own. I populate them with villagers so they don’t feel empty. If I ever have children one day I’ll want them to join me and I can show them all I’ve done.

Minecraft builds have become so large and impersonal, that I no longer find them impressive no matter how grand they are. This on the other hand, brings me back to the days where I used to just play the game for the sake of playing, and building my own thing without worrying about making it the biggest or best thing ever seen. Probably my favorite Minecraft video in a long time!

TH-cam just recommended me this gem. crazy. I started MC an update or two before the bed update (Beta 1.6ish??) and I played RuneScape at the time too. Never watched something so nostalgic. The old sounds, nightfall visuals, textures, simplicity... and the RuneScape references. Brings me back when I would hear a cave noise, log off in fear, and grind melee on rock crabs in RS instead. Honestly, I remember the bed update specifically because surviving the night used to be so scary. Everything felt like a mystery back then... also probably because the game wasn't so popular. No standard or expected way to play or build, no creative mode for unlimited experimenting and spoiling of what to do. No villages or pillagers or storyline like the end. Just the simplistic and mysterious world you log into. Hope this video continues to blow up because there are definitely people out there like me who didn't know they needed to watch it until they've watched it.

Dude this video takes me back to the good old days of let's plays. The simple format and calm speaking is so much better than the minecraft videos that have gotten so popular over the years, where they talk so quickly and throw a million things at you at once. Keep this stuff up, there is a big audience that love this kind of video.

Found your channel a couple days ago, and I've been enjoying the videos. While I play modern Minecraft (I haven't updated since 1.20.1, though), I've enjoyed the simple and easy Minecraft content from you. Not only does it take me back to a simpler time (I started playing Minecraft in early-to-mid beta), you also don't rely on a lot of loud noise, or "interesting" and attention-grabbing. The way you make videos is thematically very like the versions of Minecraft you seem to frequent - simple, calm, appreciable.
As someone who keeps my own Minecraft play style rather old-fashioned and simple, I really enjoy your calm and relaxing voice, your very nice builds, and your cosy worlds. Thanks for making these!

Wow! My most recent video doubled in views after getting recommended from this one. This world tour blew UP. Let me start off by saying your world is crazy impressive though. I loved the various themed areas you’ve built, especially the castles haha. Between the ones made by you and your friend, I much prefer yours. The interior and exterior designs on yours are much more thorough and seem to have much more care put into mirroring real life counterparts. I especially love the common room you pointed out - it really does have a great layout and vibe to it. Also, I’m gonna have to steal the netherrack tower caps you used - they turned out much better in practice than I would have imagined. You also really made a great use out of the different wood types. I’m excited for when I get to the beta updates (and new wood) in my world!
Looking forward to the next update you post!! This save is really inspiring :)

when you would introduce a build in your world that never had the chance of being used because the server died out before it could is too relatable to me! I've started multiple realms with my friends and we would always start projects that we were excited to finish or projects I wanted my friends to visit, but we would get busy or forget before we could. I remember the last server I was on, I had spent many hours building the largest farm on the server with every crop we would need as well as a farm house and tavern, but no one had shown up for the last couple visits I made on the server and so I left shortly after. Your tour and continuation of this world despite everyone leaving has made me want to do the same.

I’m only a few minutes in and there’s so much I love about this world! The detail is great, your architectural knowledge is clearly complementary to your builds. And I love how you put some full blocks in the roofs so some snow would be left on it.
Nice lord of the rings reference and I love the theme of Lumbridge :) how long ago did everyone leave? And is firetick off?
    “Squeebit”
For my own future court yard I plan on having pink cherry trees along with a few buildings, traditionally common houses for the servants, guards, or storehouses were in the courtyard with the royalty in the keep.
Man that great hall on the entrance gives me tons of nostalgia. You did a great job of filling that giant space!
💀 bro you’re just watching it burn alive… yeah dog AI is terrible and they’re really only worth keeping as guards, you can’t take them anywhere without them killing themselves. Also that’s why I recommend showing a tour on a backup lol
Loving your mine designs here. Also nice skin, epic reference . I remember seeing your miner’s camp on the r/GoldenAgeMinecraft subreddit!
I agree caving is a ton of fun. Is 25 a good level for caves specifically or did you just pick it for ease?
That pushing the mine cart up a slope using stairs is very smart. I might have to use that myself.
How do those leaves not despawn?
Overall bro it’s an amazing, lovely world. I hope you continue it, I love your style, it’s perfect for Beta. Thank you so much for uploading and I hope it gets lots of views!

Hey, I can't believe someone actually watched all 40 minutes lol! Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot coming from such a good builder.
Honestly took me like 10 minutes to remember what the lord of the rings reference was lol. Everyone left the server ~11 months ago. It was quite short lived. Firetick is not off. As for the dog, I was just in pure shock for the first few seconds haha. And HOLY SHIT how did I not think to use a backup for this.
I think I read that 20 to 30 were the most common layers for caves to be found in this version, so I just went with 25. And I assume you're talking about those leaves on the grass at the end there... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they just generated like that I guess. No idea.

I am starting my own beta project in a few days. The simplicity is very calming compared to the otherwise chaotic and overwhelming life we live day to day. One should not forget their inner child. For areas where you don't have powered rails, a simple solution could be to just throw in a minecart with a furnace to push the other ones. They use fuel, but since you're mining, you'll probably pick up a lot of coal which you only need so much of anyways.

Remind me when me and my cousin would play with legos. We had a small grey flat plane to build all our buildings on. We had limited legos. But we still had this deep feeling as we built our creations. We didn't think like "what's the point" or "who would care in 10 years" or "it looks simple". The simplicity and limitation actually added to it. We just did it and then it just "got into it" and we treated our lego creations like it was a diamond after a while. We would put it on display on the living room table or something. Don't you dare ruin it! If someone destroyed it, we would be so pissed. I felt this feeling with your video. This experiment is probably about this thing. That feeling is so good
