I think that’s another winner there Rik, only change I would make would be to put a longer piece of pastry down and put the filling on one half only, on the other half of the pastry you can score the pastry and then fold it over the filling and crimp to seal. It provides the same result but gives a slightly less chance of the pastry bursting open as it cooks.

About a year ago I brought a slice from a major supermarket brand. It actually had no contents at all just some gravy smear on the bottom. So I took it upon myself to test every brand, even the alleged 'premium ' ones! For fairness I chose steak slice from them all. The worst was empty. Then they ranged between a lump of gristle to the top one having two small cubes of beef. They were all the same size too. Rik has demonstrated how easy it is to make them and fill them full. Just one question Rik. Do they freeze well pre-cooking?
What do mushy peas taste like? I like peas,and pea soup,but I never remember my Mom using mushy peas,we certainly didn’t buy them from the fish,and chip shop.Not an easy thing to find,as I now live in the US.I saw you can get them at Wegmans,and there is a Wegmans in the Brooklyn Navy Yard,a difficult place to get to without a car,I must see if someone with a car would like to take a ride there,but I doubt it.The Bangladeshi takeout by my home makes puff pastry vegetable slices like these,and they are delicious,but fattening.😊
I just feel my waistline expanding! Rick, you cooked some sausages recently that looked excellent. Where did you get them from? Easy for you to obtain? I make all my own here in China. We cannot get high quality ones in the same way getting Batchelors peas is impossible. We used to get them from Hong Kong but supply seems to have dried up.
Can you pick up dried marrowfat peas over there. If you can you will make real mushy peas. Making you own sausage is the best way out here in Asia. Thank you. Best, Rik
