I think the colors go well but yeah I totally agree. I mean the paisley bow tie really just set it off for me. But I rate him for trying. It just really didn't come off.
Yeah. When I wear my cardigan, it's the only peace of clothing I wear, to really show it off. Who needs layering, when you can just go with one piece of clothing.
Stop saying everything has an "edge" to it or it's "edgy". It's so annoying. The word "edgy" has become such a loose term in the fashion world and it's so annoying.
I know that this stylist has his own opinion and taste, and I support that. And I'm no fashion expert, I'm a menswear enthusiast and I research about classic style, still I find these looks very dumb and stupid. If they are supposed to be some kind of fashion, then that's alright. But shirts and ties worn untucked with jacket, that is too much disgusting. Let alone the matching and other stuff. Even the clothes doesn't fit, the model looks like some sort of zombie in those. Sorry for the offensive comment
Sifat Sartaj I agree. I’m no expert, but fit is fashion 101, and many of the pants and shirts this “stylist” is using fit too poorly on the model. Also, the fourth look, the one with the denim shirt and the bow tie, almost made me barf, it was so disgusting I almost lost it.
Each look is a bit too similar. Basically shirt, cardigan and a coat over it. Cardigan is buried under the jacket when it's supposed to be the star of the show.
I don't know how I feel about this one. I know it's Mr Potter so it supposed to be a higher level of fashion, but I really found this super bland. maybe it was the color of the cardigan or just the way they designed and decided to use it but it was wrong for me.
+saad abdullah, thank you. in many of these fashion videos for men, the general emphasis is to wear laced shoes while loafers and monkstrap usually relegated to the fashion no-no on the shoes preferences.
Thanks for all the hard work Mr Porter. My takeaway from this is how good a pale grey on denim looks and will be going with this classic in A/W 2018 thanks
Awful. Just because you can put together a barrage of expensive clothing on a model doesn't mean it looks good. Look 2 and 5 were tolerable at best. The rest, just awful.
Dylan Vole's Arsenal of Bricks these guys are supposed to be professionals in the field of fashion and clothing, so I expect for them to make better outfits than a TH-camr who is more spread out (lifestyle, grooming, fashion, etc), but I was obviously wrong. I don’t know who would be the wealthy idiot that spends money to get dressed by these incompetents.
You forgot the 6th look.. The one where you drape a blanket all over you.. covering up to your mouth. That's one of the best ones there on how to rock a cardigan.
This has some of my favorite looks. I got dressed in the dark look, I bought the wrong size look, the homeless guy look. And the I almost got it right look.
Cardigans as layering only work for the super slim (or skinny, even), and therefore not for me. I wear them rarely, and then usually just over a shirt with nothing over them.
Like your videos it is not my style but I suppose it is absolutely not the style that people that think they know how to dress (dress for office) appreciate at all and that makes me warm at hart, thanks for that. I do love cardigans but have a hard time finding some versatile like this grey, what kind off cardigan is it. I do think you posses a high knowledge in dressing and I like that you outshine normal people in your taste, that think they know how to dress. But the only thing they achieve is a stiff and boring look. I would like to accive a warm, soft and hugged feeling but still very formal. Like discreet 3 pice tweed, knitted silk tie and brown formal leather shoes. Maybe you should do top 10 miss conclusion in mens dressing, it would be interesting and I really think I would learn something.
Actual title: Five ways to cover your only cardigan with whatever jackets you have. I know that he said using cardigan to perform layers, but this is how you should title your video, really.
I'm also female and wish there were MRS PORTER videos! These videos are classy, sophisticated, and timeless -- female designers should take a few notes! I am hooked on The Way I Dress videos!! Thank you for making style a destination, that never gets old.
After watching almost all the videos here, I realised that everything looks good on 19 years old models who dressed 20 years older than their age, how about the other way around?
Are you kidding me? After finally watched the whole video, i agreed with couple gents below.. The first one are sore to my eye.. more like a homeless man who just stole a clothing out of store... try it on your first date, that's my reaction too.. Also i personally insulted on no 4 "Modern professor" look With an untucked shirt it's absolutely pretentious. And yes, the "edge" is more like a filler word to me
Even if I have the money to buy all those outfits, the weather would often keep me from wearing them. Really, it looks good, but when you're living in a country near the equator, everyone stares at you
I really believed in the designer's different vision for the outfits. Everybody has his own taste for clothing. But to see that kind of underwear? A white vest under a white shirt. That is just funny. Let alone that the upper underwear should be a T-shirt. I hope the man making the outfits will see this and won't make the same mistake.
I like the color combination in looks 2 and 4. Simple but well put together. I've started a channel on street fashion and it would be great if you guys could check it out and leave some feedback!
So glad to see everyone hating on these. I thought it would be all pretentious morons frothing at the outfits because they're expensive. The fit is horrible on all except 5. The best outfit is 5. 2 has potential if it was better fitted
Style director who doesn't know the difference between oxford shoes and a derby. Deserves a raise.
i think this guy started to pretend that he was a stylist for this job and somehow everybody believed him
HA!
This is the dude who said it was a "hipe new way" to wear grey sweatpants with a tuxedo. Wow
Haha
Hahaha,
The outfit with the sports jacket, denim shirt, bow tie and cargo pants is just.... i mean what the fuck is going on there?
I think the colors go well but yeah I totally agree. I mean the paisley bow tie really just set it off for me. But I rate him for trying. It just really didn't come off.
ShapsberG i'm so goddamn shocked even my spelling has gone overboard
Ahahahahahahahahahahah
At look #1, did he really say "Oxford shoes" ? Come on Mr Porter, those are Derbies.
they're literally named "Leather Derby Shoes" on mrporter.com too, damn.
Well done
i feel like its pointless wearing a cardigan if you're just gonna cover it with a jacket/coat.
Yeah. When I wear my cardigan, it's the only peace of clothing I wear, to really show it off. Who needs layering, when you can just go with one piece of clothing.
You probably don't live in a cold country... layering is quite literally a life-saver.
Stop saying everything has an "edge" to it or it's "edgy". It's so annoying. The word "edgy" has become such a loose term in the fashion world and it's so annoying.
Nothing it's ''edgy''
I know that this stylist has his own opinion and taste, and I support that. @@neitherlink6612 and the cargo trousers, seems like comedy at this point ^^
Each look is a bit too similar. Basically shirt, cardigan and a coat over it. Cardigan is buried under the jacket when it's supposed to be the star of the show.
Well he said cardigan is only a laying device
Can't say I really enjoyed any of those looks!
I don't know how I feel about this one. I know it's Mr Potter so it supposed to be a higher level of fashion, but I really found this super bland. maybe it was the color of the cardigan or just the way they designed and decided to use it but it was wrong for me.
That shade of green damn so good.
The last look is the best one.
How many times can you say 'Kind of' in one video?
What type of hairstyle was that?
where can i find the background music?
A better title would have been "How to hide your cardigan under a coat while wearing the same shoes your waiter at Red Lobster wears to work"
if one's personal style of footwear is slipons, can he substitute any laced shoe for a slipon or loafer?
Dean Christensen yes you can, double monks or loafers.
+saad abdullah, thank you. in many of these fashion videos for men, the general emphasis is to wear laced shoes while loafers and monkstrap usually relegated to the fashion no-no on the shoes preferences.
054: what watch is that? Tudor?
maybe its just me and my style, being a tailor by trade I hate shirt being untucked, under every cardigan the shirt pops out the bottoms, looks untidy
Even though it is getting cold outside, I start sweating every time I watch these videos.
Do "trousers" have to be ill fitting?
All brilliant I like the winter one best
You clearly have bad fashion taste.
Model is asking himself "when is this gonna stop.?! And why is he helping me get dress.??!!"
What is with not tucking in the shirt.
This might be my favorite of the series! Love it
Can anyone tell me what kind of shoes is that in first and last look? It looks like dr marten.
Fantastic video, loving the looks!
Immediately I saw that pre-tied bow tie, I knew it was time to check out.
Really love D&G Trousers from the first look!
Guys give me link for this product )
Track’s name?
Thanks for all the hard work Mr Porter. My takeaway from this is how good a pale grey on denim looks and will be going with this classic in A/W 2018 thanks
I love these vidoes and this series!
4:46 "I hate my life..."
Awful. Just because you can put together a barrage of expensive clothing on a model doesn't mean it looks good. Look 2 and 5 were tolerable at best. The rest, just awful.
Of course you realize these are just examples, and that if you have better ideas, you should make your own video, right?
They aren't my taste either.
LOL he looks like a preppy schoolboy. xD
You just perfectly summarized my thoughts!
Alec Sanchez the look number five is good as long as you change the shirt, but as it stands it’s barely tolerable.
I wonder why Mr Dan May uses his watch on the right wrist.
*Armani Derby shoes.
They are not Oxford shoes.
The last look is the only that should even be considered by anyone viewing this video. The other four were atrociously unfashionable.
your little show is perfect..
Oxfords?
The last look is fire
welp...time to go back to Aaron Marino
Austin Kim well hello there fellow gentlemen :D
Why would you leave Aaron Marino in the first place? He's dope!
Dylan Vole's Arsenal of Bricks these guys are supposed to be professionals in the field of fashion and clothing, so I expect for them to make better outfits than a TH-camr who is more spread out (lifestyle, grooming, fashion, etc), but I was obviously wrong. I don’t know who would be the wealthy idiot that spends money to get dressed by these incompetents.
that cashmere coat though..!!
Why not have a look with JUST the cardigan as the top and final layer, I feel that the outerwear turned me off allot
He is good. More of these please!
You forgot the 6th look..
The one where you drape a blanket all over you.. covering up to your mouth. That's one of the best ones there on how to rock a cardigan.
Favorite series! Do more please
When I wear a cardigan I generally like for people to be able to see it rather than hide it.
It is worn as a layer in d video!
This has some of my favorite looks. I got dressed in the dark look, I bought the wrong size look, the homeless guy look. And the I almost got it right look.
Polka dots: Edgy?
Tweed: Modern?
Love the piano!
The last look was my favourite
after watching..must say i need a dresser. layering all those pieces by yourself takes up a chunk of time.
Don't understand how people can be so rude, these looks might not be for you but they're very fashionable in my opinion!
Cardigans as layering only work for the super slim (or skinny, even), and therefore not for me. I wear them rarely, and then usually just over a shirt with nothing over them.
Shouldn't one tuck a shirt when wearing a tie?
+Alex Holtze I can't see why
+Hausofcozy108 I just thought that was like a "rule"?
***** There really shouldn't be any rules to fashion. It's too restrictive.
Fan of the japanese cargos.
MORE VIDEOS! tired of waiting 3 weeks for ONE video! need more if you want the channel to grow!
the last outfit was the best.
Although I have some gripes about the "stylist" in this video I do like the outfit he's wearing.
I watch these videos for enjoyment but then remember I will never be able to own any of these pieces. Back to the Highstreet with me!
outfit five is the only good one
Agreed
It'd nice to see some more conservative but still fashion forward stuff like the navy blazer video.
I think the last look would of been much better with brown boots in my opinion
Like your videos it is not my style but I suppose it is absolutely not the style that people that think they know how to dress (dress for office) appreciate at all and that makes me warm at hart, thanks for that.
I do love cardigans but have a hard time finding some versatile like this grey, what kind off cardigan is it.

Wearing a cardigan with a suit "kinda" makes it look like a vest. Provided you keep the jacket unbuttoned like you would with a actual vest.
im a girl and i spend 2 hrs watch ut vids. amazing
Title is misleading. All five ways are in standard position over his arms and torso.
That fourth ensemble? With the tweed jacket and the "modern kind of professor look"? Is offensive.
Blows my mind that on the first look that he calls a derby shoe an oxford......
do i spot a rolie on a ZULU? YUSSS
Actual title: Five ways to cover your only cardigan with whatever jackets you have.
I know that he said using cardigan to perform layers, but this is how you should title your video, really.
shoes too large, slacks to big in the waist, jackets/pants too short. Nice cardigan.
I would only wear look 5. I think the otters are just a bit to Boeing for my taste or too out of order if it comes to color combinations.
Please do "Five Ways To Wear: The Denim Shirt" or "The Tartan/Plaid shirt"
Nice video, but eh, all the styles would look 10x better if the dude tucked in the shirt! My favorites are nr. 2 and 5.
I'm also female and wish there were MRS PORTER videos! These videos are classy, sophisticated, and timeless -- female designers should take a few notes! I am hooked on The Way I Dress videos!! Thank you for making style a destination, that never gets old.
0:29
Who the fuck wears pleated trousers?
Laring Device
Green keeps it young? It made him look like Alan Partridge.
Green is dope but I would tuck in my shirt 👔
The Denim shirt and bow tie is dope!
But the pants is stupid (IMO)
I guess the title didnt say anything about looking good
Why does nothing fit properly?
I like the first look..just need change the shoes...
After watching almost all the videos here, I realised that everything looks good on 19 years old models who dressed 20 years older than their age, how about the other way around?
Are you kidding me? After finally watched the whole video, i agreed with couple gents below.. Even if I have the money to buy all those outfits, the weather would often keep me from wearing them. Really, it looks good, but when you're living in a country near the equator, everyone stares at you
not a fan of the 2nd; makes it look like a school uniform. love the 4th and 5th
Pass
Look 4 instant love
I really believed in the designer's different vision for the outfits. Everybody has his own taste for clothing. But to see that kind of underwear? A white vest under a white shirt. That is just funny. Let alone that the upper underwear should be a T-shirt. I hope the man making the outfits will see this and won't make the same mistake.
2 & 5 are decent
look numb.4 was a fail!
Looks #2, 4 and 5 are prime...
2,5,4 in that order. For those worrying about covering the cardigan, wear you jacket open. Not hard, folks.
Well, sir, I share your view, to be honest
That 4th look... is horrible.
Whats wrong with classic only? I dont understand these modern cat walk looks that in my opinion totally ruin the classic elements which go with it
ARGHHHHHHH YOU DIDN'T DO THE TOP BUTTON UP WITH THE TIE!!!
Missed out the Kurt Cobain, MTV Unplugged look.
