Several motorcyclists actually lost their lives on the track... Bruno Bonhuil and Luis Carreira are the one I know of, but I'm sure there are many more sadly... :(
What I absolutely don't get: A double yellow flag already means "slow down" and knowing the reputation this track has, you should expect a blocked track. Then why do we still see drivers crashing into a wreckage one after another?
lol a lot of you complain the degree of dificulty of the track but when you hear all the interviews from the drivers this is what they love and looking for a very challenging race.
@@DrFeloniousMost of them are. Except Touring Car is usually part of the championship, all other races (F3, motorcycle, GT) are one off races. So they have to sign-up themselves to race. Actually for local drivers they have to race several races in other circuits to qualify for the Macau Grand Prix.
Seriously it was actually starting to make me angry when people kept piling in, like did these guys get their racing licenses out of a cereal box or what.
@@remotecontrol1082 That's racing in Macau! Ha, also last year was the last chance for a national-level race, with 2023 international event return anticipated, so driver skill level was not at its peak let's say... My team was unlucky and got fucked by gentleman driver crashes.
This track is like the M25 - practically a car park. I can't believe they use it - there are no run-off areas so every crash stops the race and can take out half the field. Demolition Derby!
yea a bunch of locals thought it would be a good idea to race car here back in the 50s....the track doesn't change at all but its the cars that are getting so much fatter and bigger.
I don't know but i think the safer barrier in the right side on the exit of turn 2 just make it more dangerous , coz the car will bounce back into the middle of the track
Macau is my favourite annual crashfest especially on TCR class because of those rich hongkong and taiwanese clowns who called themselves as "Pro" racing drivers
It’s top tier challenge in motorsport and I think it’s cool for supercars and touring cars to race there, not so cool for Formulas and especially motorcycles tho
At Macau they should have another corner worker's flag, something really unique like striped purple or something, that's one step above a yellow flag. It's not just a yellow, it means FOR F***S SAKE SLOW THE F*** DOWN. Used in cases where the track is nearly or completely blocked.
In any sensible universe the straight would have chicanes instead of near full-throttle kinks, and the mountain section…. i have no clue what to do with that
Yeah maybe putting majority middle tiered drivers on a track w no run offs isn’t the best idea. If I was team owner, I’m good w this race. Too expensive
I am no expert in Marshalling, but shouldn't most of these cases should have been red flag, not double yellow, especially when the track is covered with crashed cars and have less than a car-width left? Also, marshall station at 3A seems to be very useless. It is after the turn and on the inside of a straight away. Maybe it is camera angle?
⛔Macau is so full of blind-corners that runners doing a marathon would have a pileup Worst big-name track, how do you call it racing when there's more red-flag time than driving time only place in the world you can have a nascar BigOne with all the cars strung out and in single file
10:27 this is ridiculous, let’s say I understand those guys on Isle of Man but I don’t understand those who are racing there and whoever is in charge of that race
Street circuits are a bane to real racing. To narrow & cramped. Macau, Monaco, Long Beach & the rest of the street circuits are worthless. Worst idea from 20th century racing. Scrap the lot & go to the real race tracks of Brands Hatch, LeMans, Nürburgring, Spa, Road America etc.
Use the right kind of cars on these street circuits and it works. You can't use F1 and GT3 cars on these circuits. It's too narrow for those things. Atleast smaller touring cars are fine.
Macau is either a terribly designed track or, the drivers just don’t understand it lol.. And there’s no way motorcycles should be racing there… It’s way too fast with no run off at all… Go down on a bike and you’re almost certainly going to slide into a wall, or be struck by another rider.
@kamele0ne69 motorcycles have been part of the Macau GP since its inception. The original race organizer (Teddy Yipp I believe) wanted both cars and bikes racing on the same weekend. A rarity at the time and even rarer now. I do agree with you that racing these high powered bikes is dangerous now. When Macau started I think bike
@@W123KartSport I mean, motorbike racing is inherently dangerous in of itself. Riders have arguably far less protection than car drivers do, having often only the padding on their backs, and some air/sandbags to protect them. It's the lack of added protective features seemingly present for the bikes that's alarming to me personally. Like at least have SOMETHING other than metal guard-rails or rigid tire barriers for riders to slide into if/when they crash.
@@NolanRempel I agree. My point is that the old bikes were extremely limited on power meaning a crash wasn't a death sentence. I mean hell they race bikes at Daytona. You hit the wall, you're pretty much done
