    Could you use the optical I/O to my 2010 Mac Pro that has optical I/O for Pro Tools? Instead of USB?

    Eleven Rack has a reamp output. Sounds like this might be a replacement of Eleven Rack for Pro Tools fans who are guitarists?

    Quality review. I'm looking to purchase a new interface, as the one I have now doesn't have any mic preamps, and I have to do a LOT of processing to get somewhat right.
    I'm looking at this, the Audient iD44, and the Yamaha AG08. Any thoughts? I'm using Dynamic mics because of my untreated garage space.

      I’m swapping this in for my Audient id44. I don’t have enough time with it yet to make an absolute final decision on what I like better but so far I am really liking the MBox Studio and I’m thinking I’ll stick with it.
      With either interface I use a Fethead for my dynamic mics to give me a little more gain for them. Both aren’t noisy when pushed though. I just want the extra gain.
      For guitar and bass recording I like the MBox Studio more but the id44 is still a good choice for that.
      For bundled software the MBox Studio includes way more unless you want to get into Cubase as the id44 comes with Cubase LE which you can upgrade to Elements for fairly cheap especially if you wait for a sale.
      I am not familiar with the Yamaha interface so I can’t comment on it.
      But with between the id44 and MBox Studio you really can’t go wrong either way.

    Hop in a plane with this or is it too big and shaped wrong for a backpack?

      It can fit in a backpack. It would take up a lot of room but it can fit easily in a regular sized backpack.

    I ordered this and had to send it back.. it was inconsistent about being recognized by my iMac and would have to be turned off and on before it would be recognized. Also it makes popping noises while connecting which is the first time I ever had an interface do that. This Mbox is HORRIBLE for vocals, they sound flat and will clip if not increased super slow. The Tuner is also inaccurate for tuning instruments to the point it can't be depended on. Bottom line... looks really cool but horrible for tracking. I have an Avid S1 console that's AMAZING and love.. but hard pass on this. My Apollo Twin X smokes it

      Same problem with the M-box 3 pro! But the quality was well worth that minor problem

      This is a reach. This box is amazing. Apollo is overpriced because of its DSP. Firmware updates usually fix problems and occasionally people get faulty units.

      No it’s an audio interface. Needs to be connected to a computer to record

    I can never find if this specifically plays well with reaper. I know it’s supposed to work with any DAW, but I’d still like some kind of confirmation before getting it to even try out. Can you shed any light on that?

    • @nikolassehman
      @nikolassehman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I looked on the Avid Compatibility list, and Reaper is on there. Luckily, instead of locking features into pro tools integration, Avid put all those features into a dedicated app MBox Control. This means it will work like any other interface in Reaper, and all specialty functions will still be available through the app.

    No way thats a raw audio sm7b test. Youve definitely got it compressed at a minimum, theres too much proximity effect missing when you're turning your head

    Avid support is the worst. They don't even bother with driver updates to fix widespread problems. Be warned.

    • @AudioTechTV

      What issues have you encountered with the MBox Studio driver so far? I haven’t had any issues yet.

    • @croakingembryo
      @croakingembryo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AudioTechTV I'm talking about their past products. The Mbox 3 Pro for instance has not received a driver update since 2014 and they never bothered to make it work on Windows 10 even though units were still being sold after Windows 10 was released. The hardware is great, 8 inputs, 8 outputs, 2 headphone outs, 192khz and lower latency than most audio interfaces released today but rendered useless because AVID doesn't care about supporting their products.
      Compare that to MOTU who have already released 3 or 4 driver updates for windows 11.
      This Mbox Studio might work for now but don't be surprised if it suddenly turns into a brick.
