Honestly considering Advent Children in the whole reunions thing I can see the zombie thing being useful. Just say that the people infected have geostigma and if they die they become a remnant of sephiroth and can in theory be used to resurrect him if your character dies

2 handed weapons dont prevent spellcasting. You're able to "hold," it in one hand while performing the somatic components, then putting the second hand back on. Dual Wielding, Sword and Boarding, or wielding a weapon while holding onto something (typically a rope/ladder/rail or other such thing keeping you in place) are typically what prevent somatic components. Still. The rest of Warcaster is really nice for this build, that it's still worth the investment.

" Essentially means you need a hand to hold it, and a free hand to attack with it. So holding something, or otherwise continually using your hand to do something will prevent you from attacking. But the gestures used for somatic components only last the casting time, during which you arent attacking anyway.

For the record, if you’re using a Greatsword, you don’t need war caster to use spells. You can carry the weapon with one hand, just not attack with it, so you’re free to let go with one hand, cast your spell, and then pick it back up properly.
I'm personally a fan of Steel Wind Strike. I dunno how it compares to other 5th level spells, but it's easily one of the most anime spells in the game, and if you're hasted you get your 2 base attacks, and 5 hits from Steel wind. it's a stretch, but it's very nearly an octoslash. nearly.

Ya know Tulok, I'm using your Tifa build (It's right in my comfort zone) in my latest campaign. And just discovered that my friend is using your Cloud build. Gave me a good chuckle
One thing I wanted to point out (since I'm playing a bladesong wizard right now) is that they actually gain proficiency with light armor at level 2 so you actually won't need Mage Armor past first level :)
The fake out at the end of Cloud's build was beautiful!! Love your work; keep at it!! EDIT: I wound up using Rune Knight since putting Runes on equip felt like materia; I teetered between sorcerer and paladin for second class but ultimately took both for: Attack + Action Surge + Haste + Quickened Boom = Pseudo Omnislash

I don't mind Divine Soul Sorcerer, it just feels like a LOT of builds on this channel either center around Fighter/Sorcerer/Paladin combos or are near-pure class builds. I don't think that's particularly a knock against you, but more the content you're covering: People tend to request and vote for protagonists of fantasy series, which tend to BE Swordbois that often combine it with magic.
Man, I love these videos but I have a small request. Can you add like a small thing at the end that shows off the ability scores + learned feats and whatnot? It may seem like a lot, I dunno, but I kinda find it difficult to keep track of changes with ability scores upgrades and all that. Thanks

I'm no Final Fantasy buff, but I heard somewhere that Sephiroth has powerful illusion magic. Since wizards learn two new spells every level and can add more to their spellbook with scrolls and such, I reckon it wouldn't be too hard to get spells like Hallucinatory Terrain and Mirage Arcane (sure they have long casting times, but whatevs). Also great job on the extra long video.

Just watched this, awesome character builds, definitely will reference this for my FF inspired campaign. Also, love your humor with the calm voice, just has its own great charm to it.
I love playing necromancers because once you get to higher level spell slots death becomes irrelevant to you because you have all the tools you'd ever need to bring everyone but yourself back to life and dying isn't even an issue once you get the spells that can bring you back to life
Just want to say that much as Tulok and everyone gets bored with Variant Human, Cloud and Sephiroth are humans injected with alien blood so they are LITERALLY Variant Humans. Which is why, of course, he went with Elves.
If you wanted the fusion sword and wanted to keep the build mostly fighter, you could take cloud of daggers instead of either spiritual weapon or spider climb. "Daggers" might be underselling the swords a little but they're smaller than the full sword so I think they count

I'm not usually one to make suggestions on these builds, but I personally think that getting octoslash would actually be more in character since the meteor thing is more a ritual that he figures out how to activate
That would still involve 20 levels of Fighter. Meaning Sephiroth (if he's an Eldritch Knight) would only be capable of 4th level spells. Considering he's probably one of the strongest spellcasters in FF7, that doesn't make much sense.

Enchantment wizard, he's brilliant and the charm features are basically spot on. Plus he's never really good at combat outside strategy. Sad to say he's basically just a low lvl wizard in a world of low magic.
@@joelsasmad if nobody else had magic you don't need to wipe their memories though. It was for plot devices in the show given the context plots. If you can make anyone braindead or charmed (normal humans are explained as having average stats around 7 so even at low levels a 15/16 int wizard is already going to have a highly unlikely to be beaten spell save). I was using the same logic as the video here in that DnD doesn't have a spell for everything or an* ability for everything in 5e yet and if you really want to have everything you're likely playing a >20 character who also has a ton of extra stuff that the character basis doesn't. For example there's no world ending meteor spell in DnD so you have to make due in the Sephiroth build. In other words like I said before for this idea in a low magic setting like the initial anime setting a low lvl wizard is already sufficient, lvl 6 is the highest before you're basically overpowered for the setting anyway and going to the point of memory wipe for the class feature at 14 also let's you essentially be like a Kyuubi from Naruto or the Espada from Bleach with Delayed Blast Fireball and at that point why bother with mind control or mechs?
This is absolutely amazing, hands down the best one yet. Super glad to see some iconic JRPG characters getting covered. If I could make a request it'd be Ryuu from the Breath Of Fire series, with BoF 3 or 4 being the most complex and BoF: Dragon Quarter possibly being the most interesting
Definitely going to have to give the martial characters non-attack-roll-based magic items(materia) to stand a chance. Or they need to farm for crits. Probably a big reason why the Tifa Build has the subclass(es) it does.

I would have went 18BladeSinger/2Paladin so he could have worked a better 2 hand sword attack + smite.
Cloud might have a big sword and cool hair, but you know who has a big news show and cooler hair? Anderson Cooper. Let's see a build for him!

Just watched this, awesome character builds, definitely will reference this for my FF inspired campaign. Also, love your humor with the calm voice, just has its own great charm to it.

I love playing necromancers because once you get to higher level spell slots death becomes irrelevant to you because you have all the tools you'd ever need to bring everyone but yourself back to life and dying isn't even an issue once you get the spells that can bring you back to life

Battlemaster Fighter is still one of my favorite classes of D&D 5e.
I combined it with Kensei Monk and it became kind of incredible.
It's very fun, it gives you a little more oomph

If you wanted the fusion sword and wanted to keep the build mostly fighter, you could take cloud of daggers instead of either spiritual weapon or spider climb. "Daggers" might be underselling the swords a little but they're smaller than the full sword so I think they count

I was thinking about it and there is a way to pull off octoslash. It's a lovely spell called steel wind strike.
I'm not usually one to make suggestions on these builds, but I personally think that getting octoslash would actually be more in character since the meteor thing is more a ritual that he figures out how to activate
That would still involve 20 levels of Fighter. Meaning Sephiroth (if he's an Eldritch Knight) would only be capable of 4th level spells. Considering he's probably one of the strongest spellcasters in FF7, that doesn't make much sense.

Enchantment wizard, he's brilliant and the charm features are basically spot on. Plus he's never really good at combat outside strategy. Sad to say he's basically just a low lvl wizard in a world of low magic.
@@joelsasmad if nobody else had magic you don't need to wipe their memories though. It was for plot devices in the show given the context plots. If you can make anyone braindead or charmed (normal humans are explained as having average stats around 7 so even at low levels a 15/16 int wizard is already going to have a highly unlikely to be beaten spell save).
I was using the same logic as the video here in that DnD doesn't have a spell for everything or an* ability for everything in 5e yet and if you really want to have everything you're likely playing a >20 character who also has a ton of extra stuff that the character basis doesn't.
For example there's no world ending meteor spell in DnD so you have to make due in the Sephiroth build. In other words like I said before for this idea in a low magic setting like the initial anime setting a low lvl wizard is already sufficient, lvl 6 is the highest before you're basically overpowered for the setting anyway and going to the point of memory wipe for the class feature at 14 also let's you essentially be like a Kyuubi from Naruto or the Espada from Bleach with Delayed Blast Fireball and at that point why bother with mind control or mechs?

For the octoslash, you could have taken animate objects and made a bunch of swords that attack someone.
This is absolutely amazing, hands down the best one yet. Super glad to see some iconic JRPG characters getting covered. If I could make a request it'd be Ryuu from the Breath Of Fire series, with BoF 3 or 4 being the most complex and BoF: Dragon Quarter possibly being the most interesting

Definitely going to have to give the martial characters non-attack-roll-based magic items(materia) to stand a chance. Or they need to farm for crits. Probably a big reason why the Tifa Build has the subclass(es) it does.
I think with the new book, Tasha's Otherworldly Guide is a great fit for Sephiroth!
