    • @RawwkinGrimmie64
      @RawwkinGrimmie64 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@SH-qs7ee Well, that's because Edward Kenway was more pirate than Assassin. He stumbled onto the Templars and Assassins by, mere chance, did essentially whatever he pleased to get rich, and joined the Assassins because theyhad a common goal.
I know so many people that say Black Flag was the best AC game, and every time I hear it, I just know they have a fancy for pirates. I also notice that they never say Rogue is their favorite, because fuck Rogue for destroying Adawale's character. That's not what I hear people say, just my personal opinion. Rogue had a great plot and conflict, but it's butchering of past characters really did a number on the game for me personally. Then again, Ubisoft did a fine job of that outside of the main series anyway.
I still need to get through Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, but even just having partially played Origins, I can really feel the "Assassin's Creed games where you still had to be an assassin" holding true. Black Flag was the last game in the series that felt true to what the game started as. Rogue went a little too Edgelord, but it was nice to see the Order in a more negative light. The first person gameplay for these games really sucked the fun out of them though when you weren't in the Animus. Unity and Syndicate were okay, but once Ubisoft started diving into the world of microtransactions, you could tell the entire thing was going to collapse. Then you have Origins, which feels like a completely different franchised game from a completely different company. I don't care about the time period, it just doesn't play like an Assassin's Creed game, and I've only heard worse things about Odyssey.
So I can really understand why so many people like Black Flag. It was the end of an era for the franchise, but when people say it was the best game? Pirate fanatic. I haven't even met someone who's played all of the games pre-ACIV that's said Black Flag is better. How could you when AC2 and Brotherhood are both RIGHT THERE? Nothing against Edward Kenway as a character. I actually really love his character and story, how his greed led to the loss of everyone he loved. It's an amazing character arc that was tied off perfectly (in-game). I just think too many people take their love for the pirate and turn that into "Black Flag is the best" by default, which just simply isn't true.
Anyway, sorry about the ramble. This got off topic in so many ways.

  • @NobodyDungeons

So, I have a homebrewed weapon specifically called the hidden blade, and it does 1 damage plus dexterity modifier with the special effect that when the blade is concealed it can be used to deliver a surprise attack provided the enemy doesn't know you have it regardless of whether you are actually attack from stealth. Once you use the blade all enemies that can see you know you have the hidden blade preventing you from using it on them, but the hidden blade is still useful for those rogues looking to get off another surprise attack and is especially useful for assassin rogues who can now land two critical sneak attacks.

Personally, I would go for the Rogue as the rest of Sun Wukong's levels would have to be in Monk (probably Kensei as that quarterstaff is definitely magical). As for race you could reasonably go for Variant Human, Scourge Aasimar (too stretch it a little), or Bugbear if you're going the monkey Wukong route (which would be sick combat-wise).

    • @caeligocielo5634
      @caeligocielo5634 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Aloy is a difficult one as at first she seems pretty much pure Ranger, but while that would give you her skills with a bow and some of her arrows it wouldn't give you her traps/explosives nor the ability to charm monsters (robots). I'd say the most straightforward way is to go Ranger (Hunter or Gloom Stalker) 11 / Druid (Circle of the Land - Grassland) 9. This gives you the ability to take up to fifth level Druid spells and up to third level Ranger Spells (which gives you the arrows). You lose out on some class features for Ranger, but the spells should more than make up the difference.
Really, I'd love to include some Rogue to give Uncanny Dodge and Evasion, or else go up to the 15th level of Ranger (Hunter) to grab one of those, but there's no real place to shove those levels without losing out on more important things. That being said, you could try to piece together a build for Aloy that's Ranger/Rogue and uses an Alchemist's Kit to craft her traps and arrows. You'd have to get the DM on board, though.

Despite this being a solid build overall, i don't think it represents Ezio very well. He wears armor, uses heavier weapons, and his unnarmed strikes are pretty much on the "brute streetfighter" side, rather than at the "skilled martial artist".
If i were to make him in DnD, I would:
1-Trade strength for either wisdom or inteligence (he wasn't good on the whole "self-control thing" up until his late 30s, and wasn't quite fond of book smarts).
2-Pick 6 levels in fighter (with either mariner or unnarmed fighting as the fighting style) with battle master with defensive manouvers or samurai as the subclass.
    3-keep the rogue assassin levels.
That leaves you with 6 ASIs. I'd use 2 to buy either fighting initiate to get mariner as a fighting style pretty early on (since he needs to climb), or the atlethe fest, that practicly gives you a climbing speed. Tulok didn't, but I'd also buy the mobile feat (since, you know... The guy's mobile). The 4 remaining could see some use capping dexterity and the second higuest stat (now strength), or to increase constituition and wisdom (for he gets sturdier and more patient as he gets older, and the stat increase could symbolize that).

    Hey Tulok,
At long last, I get to feed the algorithms with an irate comment. Normally, I either agree with you or concede that you made the better call. This is one of those rare occasions where I disagree with you on a point. That point is infiltration Expert.
Comparing it a disguise kit is like comparing a fire engine hose to a squirt gun; the former makes you look different, the latter creates an entire identity. There are no rolls involved, so the NPCs /will/ believe that you are who you say who are unless you give them a reason to think you aren't, and a cool DM will let you include whatever in-universe information you need to pretend to be a noble, a merchant, a bartender etc. in your seven day prep time.
Which, by the time, can happen as quickly as the DM saying, "seven days later". The other players give a quick summary of what their characters were doing, if they want, and then you can get right to using your new identity to infiltrate whatever place/group/etc. the party needs to infiltrate. You can even tell guards "they (the rest of the party) are with me", and they could let you all pass.
So montage over the research, sneak into the place, kill the target (or whatever) and then leave. If any blame falls, then it falls on your fake identity. You can continue using this identity for the rest of campaign, if you want.
It's certainly a niche ability, but it is not a useless one.
    There! Algorithm fed.

You can also use slowfall as more than utility. If you land on someone they need to take a dc15 dex save or be knocked prone and take half the falling damage, so you can drop from 100ft, make your target take half of 10d6, reduce your own damage taken equal to 5xmonk level and knock them prone, leaving them prime for a backstabbing.

You can actually use sneak attack once per turn. So any turn of yours you can use sneak attack. Like opportunity to attack stocks be a turn in itself and give sneak attack in 5e.

I have a homebrew rule with infiltration expertise.
If the party increases the gold by 10 per character the rogue can help them craft identities for themselves as well.
So it's a significant investment but actually USEFUL.

I honestly would go thief over the obvious assassin, second story work covers improved movement from monk, grab Fighting Intiate for unarmed fighting which is basically same as being an 11th level monk as far as punching goes, and you still get all the skill bonuses, the only issue is not inately having magic weapons, but use magic device fits well with controling the apple of edan. Not saying this is bad but i think straight thief hits a lot of the same boxes.
(Edit: 3 levels of monk for Agile Parry is still a great idea though)

Infiltration Expertise actually does work quite well for something if you have the time for it. You there isn't anything about not having several of them available for you in the game.
If you want to get into a fortress and have the time for it, being able to walk in as a new cook or other worker, depending upon your tool proficiencies. So they likely aren't going to be messing with Miles the Ferrier who is there to help shoe some horses...after having taken out their main smith in an inn during the setup for things. As long as you aren't raising suspicions, you don't need to make any checks about it (The checks are if you are acting out of character for the identities role).
Or a cook, and when unobserved thanks to your insane Passive Perception letting you, largely, know if you're being observed, adding some poison to the food coming from one of the other cooks both gives you a patsy and access to the target.

Speaking of lesser-seen/obscure characters, I'm going to going back to 1999 for this, Ace Cooper, the protagonist of The Magician, there's a suggestion for a future project. If you've never heard of the series, or the character, you're welcome. I mean playing a crime-fighting stage magician who helps law enforcement and is a decent detective in his own right sounds fun, especially if it's unclear if his magical abilities are just good showmanship or actual magic could be interesting, the series was pretty good at conveying that uncertainty about Ace's magical abilities.

I think Chrono Trigger builds would be great. It's seriously one of the most loved and acclaimed JRPGs ever.
Crono with longsword and lightning/radiant damage.
Marle with crossbow, healing, and ice magic.
    Lucca a flame throwing artificer.
Frog could be a grung with paladin levels and water magic.
Robo a warforged who fires off beams and his own fists (there's an infusion for that).
Ayla the cavewoman with feral strength and rock-hard fists.
Magus could be an elf with a wide variety of offensive spells in fire, water, lightning, dark, gravity, even banishment.

Getting the poisoner feat is also kind of an empty level. Sure, you can ignore resistance to poison damage, and there are some pretty powerful poisons in the DMG if you convince your party to have a little hunting adventure. (Purple worm)
But, the problem is, there are actually very few creatures resistent to poison, most of them are inmune to it, meaning you will do absolutely nothing with it. It would be better to get tough to get a little bit more HP probably.

Ezio is a Assassin Rogue/ Battlemaster Fighter. He clearly abuses the Riposte Maneuver to get an extra Sneak attack per round on his instakill counterattacks. He also takes expertise in athletics for his climing checks and to grapple and shove enemies from high buildings. Intelligence is his dumb stat, as he relies on quests from his friends and is very prone to intrigues and plot twists.

I'm actually going to use this for a Kobold assassin who is batshit insane. Story-wise he's going to be a complete lunatic, darting out while screaming his head off about how he likes to stab people and then of course well... stabbing them. But mechanically it's going to be running a clinic on outright removing enemies from the fight while using draconic cry to give my party advantage as often as I can.
I did dump intelligence though lol.
So in short, thanks, this is going to be awesome.

The Assassin's Creed Protagonists being time-travelling robot people (warforged) would make more sense as a set up for the game than someone reliving the memories of their relatives and somehow related to loads of assassins from different parts of history though genetic memory. At least there is some scientific basis for time travel and robots

Make your melee Kensei weapon a rapier or longsword. Ezio has been known to use both one and two handed swords when in a big fight. Doing all your open combat with the hidden blade in AC is a great way to break your controller in frustration
