Thanks Kris! It is a bit of a pain to remove the dB killer however if you want the cops to know you’re coming from miles away and to truly hear that 270 crank at full noise then it’s the way to go. The stock exhaust just sounds like a sewing machine. 👍😎
Haha, yep it's a bit of a trade off. I've had a few bikes where I've normally tried to roll past the cops on a closed throttle to avoid any extra attention. Particularly challenging when it comes to a RBT and you're waddling down the road to get far enough away to start the bike back up. Huge improvement even with the baffle in on these, just sad the sound restrictions are so crazy these days.
Sounds like crap with the baffle, with it out it's one of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard on bike. that said if you do decide to take it out you need a tune because there's a huge dip in torque at low rpm, it's especially bad if you don't have the optional catalytic converter which most won't.
If $1 CAD is $1.13 AUD, I’m curious why that same exhaust that you claim costs $1400 in Australia costs me $2800 ($2399 on sale) here in BC Canada. Thanks for the content.
Weird, the price here is bumped up to $1513 now but still available. Is that perhaps a different full titanium system? This one is a titanium muffler, stainless headers. There did seem to be a few outliers that cost way more when I searched up this one, although I couldn't spot a difference in the exhausts, only the price!
@@terrylee9932 Of course it sounds "bad" when youtube compresses the sounds and of course the camera does it too. You need to be next to the bike to hear the full potential
There's a couple of different versions available, some are sold as a 'Yamaha' accessory by Akro, while Akrapovic have their own range that just sit under their own branding. I'm pretty sure the fit is universal from the 2014 to 2021 MT-07s too.
I got to test the bike for a few months and that's what was fitted so I thought I'd cover it. In the past I've had an MT-07 with the carbon exhaust. For most people it will probably come down to price and looks.
@@MotoJournoKris tthankyou regardles of DB on and DB killer off? i see that akra developed this exhasut with yamaha so I think its okay for the longevity of the motor.
I just tested it with the db killer in, as it's a bit of a mission to remove it due to how it's connected in (you basically need to remove the whole system. That's obviously closer to stock, so makes a tune less necessary, but plenty of people also run it without the db killer. The advantage of this being developed between the two brands is definitely there.@@KaizersPOV
With the baffle in I wouldn't say so, but obviously there's the benefit there once you're riding at higher speeds just from wind noise. With the baffle out however it may be a different story.
I haven't seen any figures shown anywhere to give a benchmark, and as you need to remove the exhaust to take the baffle off, I didn't have a chance to test it myself, before the bike went back.
That's the road on the East (I think) side of Berowra Waters Ferry north of Sydney, it's a really nice piece of road on both sides, but particularly narrow on that side, so you'll occasionally find someone treating it like a one-way street on a motorcycle. But definitely worth a ride through.
Yep the muffler is titanium with carbon fibre tip, the headers are stainless steel however. It actually caught me out as it's the full exhaust, but not a full titanium exhaust. Still a generous weight saving however.
@@MotoJournoKris what IS cheeky , is that Yamaha sells the system as Akra' Titanium - and the price in Australia implies that it is Titanium 🥴 have had mine 5 years and it is still a stunning exhaust😈
You should be able to order the genuine accessory versions through a Yamaha dealer and pay them to install it. I'm not sure how many hours that would normally take, but I would have thought only one. Shouldn't be too hard to do at home either if you've got the tools and a little experience on the spanners, but if you're not confident the dealer or a mechanic is the way to go.
Great looks with a nice subtle note. I’ve found out the hard way that loud exhaust systems attract the wrong kind of attention 🚨
They certainly do, and it's not a great position to be in!

When you ride it sounds amazing! When recording from the side it’s sounds slightly better than stock.
Yep real hard to do the custom exhausts justice with audio, although I'm not that great on the audio side of things!
“You cannot buy a slip on for this bike :/“
Should take out the DB Killer. Sound superb n doesn't hurt your ear so much.
Only issue is they recommend a tune with that...
either way, this exhaust is pure sexy. I plan to get one for my MT07 as well, just got it a week ago.

I even like stock exhaust on my 2022 MT07.
At least they look pretty decent these days with the belly exhausts!
You're missing the spring that secures your muffle part to the pipes. Your dealer probably forgot to install it. Best seen at 3:20
Yep, I didn't fit the exhaust this time, but good catch!

Sounds good with the baffle in!
Yep I'd be pretty happy baffle in, great improvement from stock, but not obnoxiously loud.
It sounds like a nancy boy bike, I want hear it sounding like a man’s bike 😀
@@terrylee9932 Of course it sounds "bad" when youtube compresses the sounds and of course the camera does it too. You need to be next to the bike to hear the full potential
Take db out cut it down couple cm, what u get is a sick sounding tone and it isnt too loud.
Interesting! Hadn't thought of that, but could be a great (cheap) solution. Does the baffle have a core/pipes that runs back into the muffler?
@@MotoJournoKris it does
I have this on my '20 with the silencer removed. Bang pop pop pop lol.
I absolutely love it though.
Makes such a difference! At least you can always add the silencer back in if it gets too much too. Better to have the option and not use it.
nice vid but u forgot to put the exhaust springs that go behind the o2 sensor
Yep they were missing when I got the bike!
What’s the difference between this one with the carbon tip and the one without ?
There's a couple of different versions available, some are sold as a 'Yamaha' accessory by Akro, while Akrapovic have their own range that just sit under their own branding. I'm pretty sure the fit is universal from the 2014 to 2021 MT-07s too.
Sounds like the factory fitted system
Not at all.
For the MT 07 what made you choose Titanium vs Carbon Exhaust?
I got to test the bike for a few months and that's what was fitted so I thought I'd cover it. In the past I've had an MT-07 with the carbon exhaust. For most people it will probably come down to price and looks.
@@MotoJournoKris Is the carbon (with the baffle in) louder than this titanium one? Seems this one has some type of cat still.
did u tune your ECU or is it okay to jsut plug this to new MT07?
Just straight up installed. If you wanted max power the tune would help, but I wouldn't say a necessity, it still runs good.

i think you are missing a spring
Will I need ear buds to ride with the akra titanium?
With the baffle in I wouldn't say so, but obviously there's the benefit there once you're riding at higher speeds just from wind noise. With the baffle out however it may be a different story.
It's certainly a different story.
Without baffle,its apocalyptic!
Earbuds def recommended 👌
Is this MT07 the LAMS approved one?
Yep, that's the LAMS.
Where did you get the engine sliders?
These are the genuine Yamaha sliders, they should be available as an accessory via a Yamaha dealer, if there's stock!
How many db without the db killer?
I haven't seen any figures shown anywhere to give a benchmark, and as you need to remove the exhaust to take the baffle off, I didn't have a chance to test it myself, before the bike went back.

You need a tuner for a full system on this bike
You really want a proper tune for any full system to get the full benefit.

U want 3:50
