    Good gains you'll notice 90 % of the time. Bike obviously has small cams for mid-range and making it easier to get through emissions tests. For anyone wondering, r7 and mt07 engines are exactly the same - the twins racing series bikes have cams and a fair bit of tuning.

      I'd also suggest an R6 throttle tube about £20 direct from Yamaha. The standard R7 is very long action at the twist grip. It's made a big difference on the one I tried.

      @@shadowred1980 I might try that .. The aftermarket does not make a shorter travel throttle for the MT-07.. I never thought about trying one from an R-6. I really have not worked on throttles for a long time. My Buell Manual says to disassemble and add some graphite powder once per year. Sounds like a good idea.
      I installed heated Grips on my FZ-07 one year ago. I am thinking it would be difficult to change throttled tubs now without destroying my heated grip ..but since I have not taken many apart I am not sure if my concern is true or not.
      Yes the wrist action is way too long of a twist on the manual throttle MT-07. Also the FZ-07 has too narrow of handle bars. The MT-07 has wider bars.. but my cables and brake lines and clutch cable are already stretched to the max do to the fact that I added 2" risers to make up for my short arms..

    Lovely tune. These bikes are super fun around town. Numbers only don't do the justice. Awesome raspy sound from the twin banger too!

    I can attest to MM ECU flash. It turned my '19 MT-09 into a Monster! Good Lord mode A is scary!

      @@alexcardenas3206 Your mode button on the right near the throttle, all the MT's have mode selection of some type. I can switch in this sequence from A to Standard (Std) and B mode. I had Moore Mafia flash to where B mode is for wet/mild conditions, Standard for all around riding, and A mode for 100% throttle at set RPM points. I believe MT's that are newer than 2019 the mode acronyms might be different.

    The CP2 Yamaha really benefits from a DNA intake system, or at the very least a Sprint filter. The intake area on these bikes is restricted.

      I've done a ton of research on the Sprint filters after installing 1 on my Zx10 and not really telling and difference at all so I got to doing my homework and learned that unless ur also doing velocity stacks that the filter don't change much but I tell u after getting some stacks installed what a huge difference that combo made

      @@ALDA2479 That could be the case on a racing bike designed with ram air and wind tunnel work. The MT-07 draws air from under the seat, the stock airbox and intake system is quite restricted. DNA makes a replacement system (not merely the element) which flows much better.
      Some bikes have incremental gains. Some bikes have large gains. It's all in the original design. Take the 1290 KTM for instance and the success that Rottweiler Performance has with their air intake replacement kits. There's no universal rules with air filters and power restoration, it's on a case by case basis.

      The DNA filter is a waste of money on the MT07, you need to remove the whole air box in order to make a difference on the MT07

    MT-07's? Not many.....but I know a lot of people with R7's that are racing them here in SoCal. I forwarded this video on. The middle weight twins is a big class in MotoAmerica.

    Peak power may not be worth bragging about at your next bike night parking lot but riding it the power is everywhere you’d need. Obviously not a race bike but it’s more than enough to have a great time on the street. Also considering mine made 63hp bone stock and a worse powerband, the changes from that ecu flash are night and day different and it’s all useable power. All the power is where you’d want it on a bike like this and honestly is more than most street riders know how to use outside of a straight line. Uncork the airbox and you’d seen even more gains through the entire rev range.

    I believe the mt07 stock dynos at 67 HP so you got 3 HP at the wheel that's pretty good
    Stock is rated at 75 at the crank so you might be over 80 at the crank now
    I'm not an expert on this of somebody knows how to describe a better please do so

    I never had the check engine light problem when unplugging the ECU on this bike, never powered on the bike without the ECU installed though.

    Wow, the exhaust sound is what I need. I have this same bike but stocked everything. Rides nice as it is but man I be just a tiny bit cooler with this exhaust.

    So with the exhaust and no tune the bike was already running low 13's at WOT?
    So that means it's just at part throttle the bike was running lean then?
    The before and after flash WOT AFR didn't actually seem remarkably different.

      I noticed the same. The AFR doesn't seem too much off except during sudden declaration (letting off the throttle)

      @@georgiospergeris6146 sudden declaration (letting off the throttle) always displays off the chart lean on any bike with any tune because the sensor is still trying to measure while the engine isn't really producing anything measurable.

    Since the CP2 engine is not really that restricted from factory, what are the benefits of disabling the O2 sensor for this bike? So does that mean that when you disable the O2 sensor (on any bike) the engine will always run on Open Loop mode? Thanks for the video. It is nice to see practical bikes being dyno'ed and to see the ECU parameters they have.

      You disable the 02 so the bike doesn't correct the afr back to factory and stays at what the tune parameters are

      @@ManCannotRide it will default to a richer condition to protect itself from running lean. You’ll end up with less power too.

    I have a 2015 BMW K1300R has shorter diff ratio than S model, don't think America gets the R, fitted Arrow muffler only and live in Australia, have you dynoed one (probably not) or know anyone like Brentune in Victoria Australia, luv your work.

    I have this same motorcycle in a 2019. Its a great bike and fun with an exhaust. Needs some tuning though and a comfort seat.

    I have the exact same bike, with a power commander and the same exhaust with the accent blue steel braided brake lines. I've been thinking about getting the ECU flashed because the throttle is hurky jerky, know what I mean. But this bike is a blast to ride. Take it to the track all the time, even pass ducaties (on the turns).

      My R1 ecu costs 1800€ new and is not available anymore. So I'm certainly not gonna send it around the world, insured for max 500€....Fyi, ThornBike in France is the main central distributor for BeNeLux and of course France.

    The dyno doesn't figure in the weight loss of the bike also when changing the pipe. Less weight = faster acceleration.

    When I start the engine it sounds like the cam chain is rubbing. Is this normal?. When you start the engine for the first time, pay attention to the noise coming from behind.minute (2.56-3.00) I hear the same noise. What is the reason? I would be grateful for your help. Thanks.

    the mt07 has some throttle body restrictions and air box restrictions you need to change. i bet with an open filter & airbox you can get more gains

    very close to a ninja 650 as well. only a couple hp different but the mt07 has a bigger engine so it makes up for it. but overall, you cannot go wrong with the new styling of the mt07

    If i was to remove the db killer, would it need to be retuneed/is it safe to ride without doing a retune on it.

    can u de-restrict from 35 kw to 55 kw by flash tune? I was asking Yamaha dealership if they can open it for me (Europe regulations) and they said that it's not worth it because it's locked by ECU soif i wanted to unlock it i would need a new ecu and that is not worth it. they said it would been better to sell it and get a different one but i kinda like my mt :D

      Go to his website. He has the instructions for how to remove the ecu and ship it in. He just did a flash for the 109r a few months back. Had some huge gains and fixed that jerky on off issue.

    Yamaha also has an air filter restriction, after changing air filter and exhaust it's gain around 78HP, with tuned ecu

    You could at least once analyse the 'quality of of the exhaust fumes' with and without ecu-flash while running a bike on the dyno? I bet, 10% more torque in mid range come with 300 or 500% 'more bad quality for the environment'. 'If i want to be good to the environment i dont flash' - true or false?( And how could an 'eco-friendly ecu-tuning' look like? Maybe there is a market for that?)

      Typically if you make more power you had a more efficient fuel burn, not always the case as with the increase in fuel usage etc, but the emissions aren't always going to be increased by a more powerful engine. All depends on how you're managing the fuel and spark, how the pressures are in the combustion chamber (compression/boost), air flow, etc etc

      What are you basing that on? There's no way emissions would be 3-5 times worse just from tuning. Disabling dfco, changing timing, changing afr... can have an effect but, unless you're physically changing parts, I don't see emissions getting considerably worse.

    I asked on another vid and never got a reply back, but does any company make an exhaust that isn't restrictive but also isn't intentionally loud? I know it goes against the 'culture' but I don't want anything to do with a loud bike. I'm not an asshole that likes to annoy my neighbors when coming and going. I don't need to draw attention at stoplights and what not. But I would like a better performing bike when it comes to riding. Any suggestions on the exhaust system for that?

      Hey Chris, Wow 5 months no response from anyone well the first company that comes to mind is yoshimura also most exhaust manufacturers usually include a baffle which reduce the decibels drastically. I hope this helps good luck.

      They really are made for flashing and full exhaust unless you don't want to commit the bike fully

      You should. The fumes get to you after a while and you notice a loss in power. You can sound cool but will be slower.

    I installed akra full exhaust just like that on my 2018 mt07. Did not tuned it. Is it still ok to run with factory tune plus akra exhaust? Wont hurt the engine?
