I remember watching one of Nikki's vlogs from when she moved house previously, she was trying to find an apartment to rent but was rejected as the owner didn't want any aggressive dog breeds. She made a vlog about how misunderstood Bowzer 's breed was and how he was so sweet and gentle and wouldn't hurt a fly.... now she is saying that he was aggressive since a pup...
The dog wasn't the problem. The owner's were. Kids need to be taught by their parents to respect the dog, just like the dog is trained to be gentle with a child. They didn't do their job training the CHILD. I don't fault the dog. It probably nipped the child. It could have severely injured the child if it were an aggressive pit bull. These people might have problems with their kid, also, when he starts school. He is poorly trained around animals, it seems.
@@JustDr.S I was shocked to read about how they let their son aggravate the dog, when it was a bull freaking terrier. It could have *easily* killed the child. The parents are idiotic monsters living in their own fantasy world.
Dr Grande, you ripped apart their argument with ease. I agree with you. They had options but chose the worst one. Your tone and expression as you read off her list of titles was hysterical.
This same couple was considering adopting a child from Thailand. Apparently there is a Thai adoption law that the adoption isn't final for a year, and during that time you can't show the child on social media. The couple declined the adoption because they wouldn't be able to use the baby and adoption story for views.
……. Because (surprise!) everything they do is pre-meditated, calculating, and specifically intended to generate views. There isn’t one ounce of authenticity between them.
I was thinking about the adoption story with all of this. They had so many home visits. If the dog was that dangerous how would they be approved for the adoption?
I saw that too. And what amazed me about that and this story too is how they didn't try to conceal it. Like they don't understand how messed up they are and think people will agree.
I appreciate how he uses words like “destroy” and “kill” instead of “put down” or “euthanize” to really drive home just how egregious this couple’s actions were.
If a dog attacks a human you can’t trust him with a child unattended. It’s obvious that they postponed the euthanasia because of their love for him. But they did the most responsible thing. But like always dr grande is giving a bias point of view to his audience
@@PineappleQTpie he didn't attack the child. The child barely had a scratch. And they even said their son would mess with the dog and try to take food from him. It's their fault, not the dog's. Their son was causing the dog stress and they did not stop him or keep him away.
When I was about 5, I blew air at my dog’s face. Dog bit me on my face. My parents treated my cut and asked me what I would do next time and I said ‘not blow on the dog’s face’. She never but me again and I learned that i had a responsibility to respect animals. She was a sweet dog and we only put her down when her cancer had spread. We were all there by her side when she left us.
Yes! It's our responsibility to teach children to respect how the animal might feel! So sorry for your loss, we just lost our little furry family member to a stroke. 💞
My son taunted my parents dog and finally bit him. As much as I hated him being in pain ( his wound was properly treatment) I had to explain how it was never the dogs fault. It's just so selfish to punish and kill an animal because the bad actions of a human.
Same thing happened to my brother with my cousin's dog. He keep taking dog's bones away to annoy him even tho we told him not to, dog bite him. He understood he was the wrong there and be more respectful towards the dog next time. My cousin had twins boys when she had the dog. They had no problems till the day dog died because old age.
And what if the dog had ripped your face off and mutilated you for the rest of your life? That can happen with the first bite as well. What if it had killed you? I don't think that's a proper way to teach children to respect animals. When children die, they don't learn anything. It takes time to teach children to properly interact with animals (or anything) and even when they do it's not risk free. Serious bite incidents with dogs happen too often and there are more dangerous dogs than suitable places for them to live. It's sad, but that's the reality. A ban on breeding dangerous dogs would be best, both for safety and to avoid having to put them down. The damage some dogs can do is just too horrible.
I work at an animal shelter. I want to make every potential adopter watch this video. Thank you, Dr. Grande, for explaining so well that animals are not disposable.
Can you please address what she said about the humane society telling her that she would be held liable if they rehomed the dog and he did something after that? It sounds like horseshit but I’m just curious. I would think that as long as they were up front about the dog they couldn’t be held liable for anything if someone agreed to take him in.
@@clarissa8477 They probably made the dog sound like 'Cujo' when they called. It's true they won't accept a dog if you say it bites people. I don't believe their story at all. They had the dog for 9 years with no issues. If the child was the problem, they could have given the dog to a home with no children.
@@clarissa8477 I was a trainer/behaviorist who worked with a lot of dogs in rescue. It's not true that you somehow are liable for the dog after you give it up. It's a made up excuse that people use when they don't want to give up their dog. What the shelter probably said is that the dog sounds dangerous and that they'd put it down instead of adopting it out.
@@clarissa8477 The local humane society or any shelters that Ms. Phillippi called probably did not say that exactly (if she called any place at all). However, there are caveats to this. First, each state handles animal control differently and shelters, kill and non-kill, are obliged to follow state laws. Two, most shelters (except kill shelters who would immediately euthanize a biter), would not accept a dog if the party relinquishing the dog stated the dog had bitten someone. That's because shelters must show the surrendering party's intake form, which most shelters make the surrendering party fill out because it is the only way to garner the history of the dog's life so far. If the shelter rehomes a dog where it knows the dog is a biter, the shelter can be held liable. A lawsuit would shut down most shelters forever. I don't know what state Bowser's owners live in, but if they did not disclose to the shelter that Bowser had bitten someone, and the shelter rehomed Bowser who may bite the new owner, then maybe the owner's could be held liable according to state law. Shelters do not disclose the identity of the previous owner, which makes the surrender's risk of liability rather small if non-existent. Most shelters hate to turn away any animal and often will work with other groups, for example, breed-specific rescue groups who can foster or find a breed-knowledgeable home. I live in a state where a dog is returned to us and the reason is a dog bite, we have no choice but to turn the dog over to animal control. They have a tough job, too as our laws state the animal must be held in quarantine (rabies) for 10 days before it is euthanized. Fortunately, we've only had to do this twice in our 60+ year history because we have a thorough, though not perfect, vetting process for surrenders and adopters. We want the best for the animals in our care and the new homes. All this said the owners failed Bowser terribly. Bowser was a Bull Terrier and they are sweet-tempered and easily trained.
Thank you Dr. Grande for another great analysis. As an owner of three dogs, I find this extremely unsettling. My dogs are my family. I still grieve my past dogs.
One of our dogs died of cancer last year and we still miss him. He was a rottweiler but he was really gentle. My other dog was a husky puppy at the time that liked to bite and we would often bleed. We trained him. He's much better now and doesn't bite at all.
My sweet little poodle died from heart failure when she was not quite 14. I had her since she was eight weeks old. It’s been six years and I still miss her.
Me too!! It was late 2017. I so want to get a new kitten or cat, but I just can’t get past her last days & the decision I had to make. She knew me so well. These 2 make me so angry!
I enjoyed this video, so I've liked it... subscribed to Dr. Grande's channel, and I'm considering supporting him on Patreon. Apparently the link to Patreon is in the description... for this video.
Am i the only one tired of hearing same words at thé begining of each vidéo ? I now skip the first 20 seconds of videos cause I usually still enjoy the analyses though 😉
One incident does not traumatize a puppy. My dog (she died last month) was attacked by a pit bull when she was just a few months old, yet remained the friendliest happiest dog you would ever want to meet, for the rest of her ten years on Earth.
I cried for months when I put my dog to sleep and he was sick. I finally had to get a new dog just to move on. This couple seems cold and not phased by what they did. Very sad I would love to have taken that dog and given it a home.
@@Negativespace95 Same here. It took me an entire year to adopt a new dog after I had to have my beloved Chloe put to sleep. She was sick and in pain so I knew it was the right thing to do, but it hurt me very badly. And for a while, when I even considered getting a new dog, it felt like I was betraying Chloe’s memory. But now I have my Jack, and he’s great and has helped me to heal.
"Destroy" is actually a commonly used term over "put down" when you euthanize a dangerous animal. I believe it is even the correct legal term in many areas- though I believe they are phasing it out because it makes people feel uncomfortable TBH. I agree with you, it is an apt term. Euthanize comes from the Greek term meaning "good death". I think we can all agree there is nothing good about this death.
@@somegenerichandle He used it purposely because in this case it wasn't euthanasia - it was the destruction of a dog's life. He used it to highlight the cold-bloodedness of the act.
It’s exactly what they did. The dog no longer fit their narrative, so not only must it be eliminated, they being the utterly inauthentic, narcissistic twats they are, amazingly saw this as an ideal opportunity to promote their brand. What’s next, are they going to put Logan down when he exhibits less-than-ideal behavior at some point? Because you know with them being this self-absorbed its bound to happen eventually. Makes just about as much sense as killing Bowser, doesn’t it??
The biggest problem I had with the adults in this situation is they had so many options to address the issues developing with poor pupper. Like one of the biggest thing is they could have brought in a behaviorist to address the issues. They had the money for trips but not to help Bowser. He became disposable because they were too lazy and self involved.
They could have found another home for him. He would have done ok with the right owner, even if he did nip the child's finger. Clearly he wasn't vicious, or the kid would have been hurt severely. I think the child and the parents needed proper training.
My parents, me & now my four grown kids, have all had dogs. We love them & they're part of our families. Not everyone is designed to have pets, especially dogs. There's ZERO shame in that. A little bit of self-reflection could've saved them *(& Bowser)* a lot of heartache. This is sad, all around. Thank~YOU so much for talking about it!
She hates masks too. She was looking to adopt from Thailand but found out they don’t allow you to put the child in photos or online for the first year after the adoption. That wasn’t going to work for them because they couldn’t monetize the child. It was shocking to hear that mindset as an adopted person myself. I’d never heard of this person until this week and now I sadly know too much about her. Poor Bowzer.
@@vl4394 brilliant. Why is it most of the people who say that are under-educated. Also, how is it pavlovian conditioning? You are just using words. Also my mask reduces pollution, viruses and bacteria. What's wrong with that?
I always have a high level of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion and agreeableness for a new Grande video and only feel highly neurotic when one isnt supplied by 6pm 😘
Error? More like murder. What really disturbed me was everytime she sipped her drink. I've never been around a person that is grieving and also drinking and eating right after the tragedy. The fake hugs. She's like the lady that rehomed her adopted son.
This is just ridiculous. She can’t possibly be sad because she ATE? Come on. You heard it here first folks, your grief is only valid if you starve yourself.
The fact she MADE A VIDEO about putting her dog to sleep is even bigger proof of her malignant narcissism. "Look at meee!!! I´m a poor victim!!! I put my dog to sleep! Feel sorry for meeee!!!"
Her behavior in that video was infuriating. She was trying to look sad or distressed. But she's a terrible actress. You can see her face going back to "normal" everytime she takes a sip of her coffee 🙄
@Micheline Gosselin...Reminds me of Myka Stauffer when she "rehomed" her son. Nauseating. Totally self-absorbed and narcissistic individuals. I hate them.
I wanted to slap that friggin cup of coffee right out of her hand!! She is a TERRIBLE actress. Trying to look so upset and forlorn, then right back to her narcissistic self. 🤬
7 years ago I had to have a vet come to my home to euthanise my dog bc her health had become so bad, she had a heart condition, and to this day it breaks my heart, I didn't want her to suffer anymore. if there had been an alternative I would have taken it.
This is part of the contract you have to accept when you get a pet. We know there will come a day when you will have to do the right thing to avoid unnecessary suffering. My little puppy is 17 years old and slowing down. She's peeing all over the house. All she really wants to do now is sleep but she isn't in any pain and still has a good life. When the time comes though I'll do the right thing.
I just had to make this decision a few months ago. 20 years old and I had owned him for 16 years. It's devastating when you truly care about your pets, and that is the very least every pet deserves.
I had no idea who that was, until people in the Doc’s comments asked to analyze the controversy. I searched what happened and I realized she is a horrible human being and her husband as well. That poor dog should have never encountered those people. Great analysis as always, good Doctor.
There's also a video out there of them deciding against adopting a child from thailand because one of the rules around such an international adoption was that they couldn't put the child or the childs image on social media for a certain amount of time in order to finalize the adoption. So basically they decided not to adopt a child because they wouldn't be able to exploit them for views.
The only dangerous one in this whole situation is this narcissistic woman. She manipulated all her gestures horribly. I have BPD and one positives of it is that I can very easily point out when someone is horribly trying to manipulate a situation. Thank you Dr Grande for sharing your thoughts! Great as always!
Goodness, yes. I get the feeling she was jealous of the dog because it was his before they were married. She probably gaslit her husband for years and then used the baby to up the guilt tripping. Her expression as her husband describes his pain is one of victory. She is happy because she removed the dog who she saw as a rival for his attention. She creeps me out.
@@cl5470 The husband seems more genuine in the video but he isn't any better than her. There is a video of him where he uses their Yorkie to make the other dog aggressive, repeatedly 'throwing' it in his face and laughing while doing it. Both of these people shouldn't have a dog or a child in my opinion.
@@maryrose9292 he is not innocent. I am not saying that. But I think he was the one who had to be convinced to kill the dog while I think she wanted that outcome all along. He was a bad dog owner, but I think he does love his child so much that his wife used the child's safety as an excuse to have the dog put down. Most dog owners are not good owners. They usually have overweight, poorly trained animals but those people aren't malicious, they are just lazy or don't know any better. His wife knew better IMO, she just didn't care.
She's anti-mask because "wearing a mask makes her sad". Yes, she said that. She also said she knows that it seems selfish but said its just her opinion. smh.
This is an incredibly sad story of irresponsible, inhumane pet care. On a completely separate note, the video title recitation in the beginning was amazing. “‘My morning routine ... winter edition’; ‘what’s in my purse ... spring edition.’” I had to rewatch multiple times.
Hehe...probably the morning routine "winter edition" is different to the morning routine "summer edition" only in the bits where she has to switch on the lights after getting up. 😂
I seriously doubt that there is much potential for "growth" in a person who runs a "lifestyle" channel on TH-cam to satisfy their apparently out of control narcissism.
Just because people talk about how they get through the day does not mean they’re narcissistic. There are people out there looking for tips on how to raise kids, healthy lunches to pack, tips and tricks for all kinds of things. Just because someone decides to share that it does not mean they’re a narcissist.
@@Hannah-zw9ow You are correct, of course. I have seen so many obvious attention-seekers on TH-cam and other Internet platforms that I have become jaded and judgmental. I remain doubtful, nevertheless, about the wisdom of seeking life advice from perfect strangers on the Internet whose prime motivation is producing content that gathers "clicks."
My thoughts are that they should never have got a dog in the first place, let alone a breed that needs a lot of training and involvement, like a bull terrier (no, I don't want to debate about that. They're not starter dogs.) But the thought was probably "look how cute and unique he looks! Good for our brand", and that's it.
Thank you for covering this tragic story... I was actually thinking that the voice of some responsible organizations is needed urgently! The first thing I though is that all these "specialists" might be fake... Investigation, full and proper, is needed.
last time I felt this sad for an animal that was killed it was Harambe ,the gorilla who was killed because a parent wasn't watching their child and let their child fall into its zoo cage ...RIP Harambe
The issue is some people have this morphed perspective that dogs are just decorative pieces that sit around at home but they are so much more than that. They need a lot of time and dedication. It’s all about reading your dog and letting them show you what type of things they are comfortable or uncomfortable with. Some dogs like affection while others don’t. Some are food possessive, toy possessive, even owner possessive. There are dogs with severe anxiety, poor social skills, but these things can all be trained away with love and time. When you get any pet it’s not gonna be perfect from the get go. Some come with trauma due to overcrowding in shelters or from countless times of rehoming.. there are a lot of things to take into consideration before getting a life long companion.
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers in this community.💐 Also, I would like to remember all the women who, even though are not biological mothers, have “mothered” so many people with their compassion, wisdom, encouragement, and as such supporting society to move forward. I had the honor to have incredible women like this in my life. So, regardless of how you got the title of “mother” I want you to know that you are loved and valued.❤️ Lastly, Dr. Grande kindly convey my wishes to your wife, mother of your sons, and also to your mother, who most certainly did an incredible job raising you.🌹
This really broke my heart. I don’t know the people but losing a pet is absolutely heartbreaking and they just didn’t seem sad about it. He wasn’t sick or injured so it was so needless. What are they gonna do when their baby goes through a biting phase?
Dr. Grande has become my only source of information about various dramas involving c-list youtuber celebs. I mean I don’t need to know who these people are to enjoy a look into what might be happening in cases like these.
As someone who had to have her beloved dog euthanized due to severe nerve pain 3 years ago, I am sickened by these "people"! I'm crying just thinking about poor Bowser! 😭
Also, on a more serious note, I’m hugging my rescue dog extra tight while watching this. Thank you so much for bringing this to light. Love, dog owners everywhere 💜
@@MayFlora a person can be abusive even when its unintentional. The kid gave the dog a cauliflower ear for a month by pulling on it extremely hard. Teased the dog and provoked the dog by taking its food. Thats animal abuse. The kid was abusive to the dog, and the parent didnt do anything to put distance or sense of boundaries between the two. Its a terrible parenting and the parents are at fault, but yea the baby was abusive.
In response to the end of your video- when my dog died, we grieved awfully. I still cry over her. This weekend I was playing a dodo video and it reminded my husband of my dog, he started to cry and we turned it off. She died around 2 years ago and we still have strong, emotional reactions to thinking about her. So I completely relate to your point about how they can't even begin to understand losing a dog you actually love and want. Now, we have cats. We would like another dog one day, but I don't know when we will feel ready.
I am beyond sorry for your loss. IMHO you are clearly wonderful owners and there is a dog out there who needs your love. I sometimes feel my rescue dog found me, that he is somehow connected to the dogs I lost. Regardless, despite loving and losing many dogs over many years, thankfully all but one as old timers, it always amazes me how each wins you over and teaches you to love again, it can be the only way to fully recover and a beautiful way to honour your beautiful friend. Bless you all xxx
I think the photo part is the most damning. They say the dog bit their child and they were protecting the child. But they're putting their child in harm's way by taking a photo. If bowser was as "bipolar" as they say he was, he could have bit their child. Absolutely disgusting human beings!
I agree. If he was do dangerous, why pose for pictures with your baby son with a "Cujo" dog? These peole also made money off of the video. That really angered me. Plus I was annoyed seeing her drinking coffee talking about killing their dog like if it was just no big deal.
I had my dog prior to having my child, so when I got pregnant I made sure to research healthy & good interactions to teach for both of them. My daughter has always been taught kindness, boundaries, & how her actions can be translated to our dog. My daughter is 8 & has never pulled a tail, hurt, stolen a toy, or even sat on our dogs bed. She cares for her, plays with her, feeds her (with appropriate boundaries in that interaction), etc & we've never had an incident. Ever. Now our dog is elderly & adores our daughter & always has. The same goes with our cats, our child was taught how to safely interact. I'm a former vet assistant & have personally seen clients out dogs down for this while refusing to admit they did nothing to help the dog & allowed their children to be cruel to the animals. I appreciate this video.
Had this 'influencer' done her research she would've recognised they should've sought help or rehomed the dog. The dog deserved so much better. Thank you for addressing this important matter.
Thank you for the analysis. My husband and I had to put down our dear little dog Kiki six years ago. She was peeing blood and developed terminal kidney failure. I still feel like I failed her somehow. It was necessary for me to get therapy after her death, I could not stop grieving her. Just last year we finally felt ready to adopt a little puppy. He has healed my heart and brought me so much peace and happiness. This couple seems callous and contradictory. That poor pup deserved better.
I had to put my beloved cocker spaniel to sleep when she was dying of kidney failure just short of her 14th birthday. That was over 10 years ago and I’m still heartbroken over it.
I'm sorry you had to go through this. I had to have my Springer Spaniel put to sleep after having him for 13 years for numerous health problems many years ago. I stayed with him, while they gave him the shot, and hugged him till he passed. He hated that vet his entire life. He finally got to bite the guy that day. I like to think of that bite as his last wish. 😊 I loved that dog. ❤❤❤
I had to make the decision for my cat Riley to cross the rainbow bridge in February due to kidney failure. I tried all the viable treatment options, but it didn’t work the way we had hoped. He would be 13 next month. It’s hard enough to have make that decision when an animal is sick and it’s really the only option. The fact that these people made a that decision so quick is baffling to me.
I have a 10 yr old Pomeranian and have recently seen some changes in him. I hate to think about those decisions to put down an animal. It's so heartbreaking.
@@alos.h256 Yeah, it is a difficult thing to think about. You know when it's time to let them go, though. My dog was having trouble walking, couldn't go up/down stairs, started peeing all over the house. He seemed confused. Turned out he had cancer, doc felt a tumor on his leg. We never felt it. He said he'd do a scan/other tests IF we wanted to treat him with chemo/radiation. He added, "but he's 13, and frail, so maybe..." So we decided to have him put to sleep. Vet said he would do the same, if it were his dog. It was heartbreaking, at the time. But now, I realize he was in pain, wouldn't have survived chemo. It was for the best. Older dogs do have changes, though. Just like people. It's normal. I hope your pup is just fine. It's clear how much people love their animals from reading all these comments! ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a sad story. Their judgment was awful, there were a number of options that could have been explored before coming up with this resolution. Another observation, I just find very inappropriate to use psychological terms to describe behaviors of animals. Thanks for the upload Dr. Grande! ❤️
Apparently, a few years ago they were going to adopt but then didn't because they were told they wouldn't be able to show the adopted child on social media for 1 year. They just couldn't see living without putting their new child on social media.
It’s almost like they see bowser as the older human brother of their son , and he should know better. Bowser would be expected to allow the baby to “explore”. Touching his food, being clingy (and abusive) , and following him around means he loves him. The problem with that is HE IS A DOG. It’s normal for siblings to get annoyed with each other or even butt beads. But he can’t communicate to them that he wants to be left alone sometimes. Snapping at a baby can happen, and it did. He snapped. He tried to not get physical, but he couldn’t take it. I don’t think Logan was traumatized. But in his parents eyes, that’s when the beast was unleashed. Once was enough for them, and that was unforgivable. It’s so heartbreaking what they did.
I wonder if Bowser appreciated how nicely she did her hair for the photo shoot before killing him and trying to cash in on it with her 'heart-felt' video.
Every time I hear about this story I cry. They’re horrible human beings. I have a 6 year old Shih Tzu and he is a brat but I am there to help him out and correct him with love.
Not every dog is the same, and a Shih Tzu has far less potential for danger, so that’s somewhat of a flawed point. It is sad nonetheless, but this isn’t an uncommon outcome for rare situations regarding special needs/traumatized dogs. I don’t think you can judge them as horrible human beings with this little context. It was not a choice I agree with, but it wasn’t completely out of Reason. As a dog owner yourself, you have to imagine they’re plenty hurt by this decision.
@@samhand4432 you clearly didn’t watch this whole video’s explanation or THEIR videos for that matter. It’s plenty of context to judge this horrible couple
What triggered me most is they’ve had this dog for almost 10 stinkin years! Their excuse that he got attacked as a puppy is complete crap. If he indeed had an issue, they could have had him trained and recuperated, literally anytime in the almost 10 years they had him. They are irresponsible owners and parents. They have absolutely NO ONE to blame but themselves. I have zero pity for them. They did this so wrong.
As someone who fosters dogs, I really think we need to destigmatize re-homing. Yes, forever homes are best. Yes, getting a pet is a commitment for that animal's lifetime. But I see so many people choose to euthanize or abandon pets outside (often a death sentence) rather than face the judgment of surrendering the animal.
They tried to adopt a child from overseas but the adoption agency wouldn't allow them to share the child on any social media or TH-cam for at least a year. When Nikki and Dan couldn't make money off the adoption they decided against it.
They could have called Cesar Millan, Cesar appearing on their show, Bowser starring on Cesar's show, Cesar working his magic on Bowser, everybody makes money, everybody's happy, and the dog's still alive.
I can't believe that they did that. I lost my dog 2 years ago (to cancer) and I'm still very upset over it..to actually get someone to euthanize that dog because of a behavior issue..just broke my heart to hear.
I’m just confused as to why you would say your dog was so aggressive and so dangerous if you stage a photo shoot the same day you decide to put it down. It’s also the lack of responsibility for me.
You did a great job keeping you composure during this. I have a feeling that the news of is situation really bothered you considering you are a dog lover yourself. 👍
I’m so glad you covered this. In general I HATE family vloggers. They seem so insincere and fake and are mostly inappropriate by showing their children’s private moments. She even said this child pulled and hurt the dog’s ear so bad it was like a fighters cauliflower ear and it took a month to heal!!! They are just disgusting and I hope they get ZERO future views on their platforms.
I’m utterly confused about “My Morning Routine: Winter Addition” ... most people have got the same routine year-round, no? Mine is: brush teeth, drink coffee, do work. What on Earth is she doing in different seasons that’s so interesting?! “Oh in the winter I prefer to backflip out the bed and brush my teeth on the moon”
Usually they get a sponsor so new routing time! It’s getting annoying. I haven’t watched Nikki in years so I don’t know if that’s what she does but a lot of lifestyle creators do.
@@erikparent8176 I might just do that. I'll leave in the bit where I try and give the cat a different flavour of cat food out the multipack every day. Variety is the spice of life.
I have a sweet little doggie that adores kids. I have had him for 11 years, and never once has he been aggressive toward a human. I would never allow a kid to take food from him. That's just stupid.
Since, the child tried to take Bowser’s food it really could’ve been a moment to teach the child to respect animals. Also, I’ve seen photos of the child with its face all up in Bowser’s face. That is impinging on the animal’s territory. Thus, the child was once again at fault. I shudder to think of what the child will learn from this experience.
For those who may not understand these references: Kujo is a killer dog from a Stephen King novel. Lassie is a gentle, helpful dog from an old tv show.
You nailed this one Dr. G. This was a completely avoidable situation. How wonderful that they loved the dog SO much that they removed all agency from themselves and took no responsibility in training the dog AND their son properly. With all of their social media followers, they would have had NO problem finding and individual or agency to work with Bowser and find the right home for him. These people are garbage. I'm not diagnosing them, just speculating based on their behaviors and recent events. Cheers from Canada Dr. G!
These idiots actually have followers, and enough of them that they are almost certainly well-compensated for their "influencing." They can't even say they lacked the financial resources to hire a dog trainer. They just didn't care.
Aside from the murder itself, the thing that REALLY gets me upset are those pictures they took right before.. I can't even look at them anymore without tearing up. It's to the point where these pictures are actually very triggering for me and I wish people wouldn't show them for prolonged periods of time. Bowser (which is the CUTEST dog name ever..) is just sitting there so oblivious and so happy. He's just being a good boy and spending time with his family not knowing what is in store for him. IT BREAKS MY HEART TO PIECES.. He's just chilling there, fully trusting his mom and dad to protect and care for him like any sweet puppy would. Meanwhile, Mommy and Daddy are literally about to murder him and rob him of the opportunity live out the rest of his carefree puppy life. After almost 10 years of loyalty, that dog is YOUR CHILD. He is a member of your family! To think that you could constantly consider murdering him over the course of his life because he makes mistakes is DISGUSTING. I can't take this story.. Honestly it keeps me up at night. How are there people that think this way!? Also, while Dan is fully reprehensible for his actions (and wtf was the Old Yeller comment?!) it really feels like Nikki is the ring leader for this murder circus here. There's not a drop of remorse in her "performance" here while Dan at least came off convincingly sad for the most part. This woman is COLD. She creeps me out. They are both COMPLETELY psycho and I will pray to the God I don't believe in for the complete and utter collapse of their social media career. I could go on and on about how bullshit this whole situation is.
The murder of that beautiful dog angers me, saddens me and disgusts me at the same time. He was a member of the familly for more than 9 years and they just discarded him for convenience, appalling! They might think about "training" their son too. Stupid ignorant people! 🤬
This is another subject that my mind and heart just can't deal with, people taking a dog into their home, that pet becoming a part of their family, and then when it becomes inconvenient, they one way or the other, get rid of their pet. Children and domestic animals are at the mercy of people, and for someone to abuse that more vulnerable creature is unforgivable! The fact that they made a big public scene about the whole thing is so disgusting! I'm very glad you made this video, Dr. Grande!! ♡
I can't imagine the stress and anxiety Bowser lived with for nearly a decade. From all appearances, he never got help with the trauma he experienced as a puppy. He was never trained or taught to feel safe around other dogs instead of acting fearfully and aggressively towards them. Instead, they locked him away. We have all experienced this past year how isolation and monotony can affect one's mental health. This dog lived that way his entire life. And then the kid came into the picture, who was allowed to terrorise the poor dog. They blithely told about their son taking the dog's food, screaming at it, not allowing Bowser to ever rest. The child even hurt him so badly, grabbing and twisting his ear, that the dog ended up with a swollen cauliflower ear. They made it sound like it was sad and not fair to Bowser that he had to put up with this, that he constantly had to be wary of their toddler and remove himself from antagonistic situations. There was no talk of them removing the child from those situations, like they were forced to just sadly watch it all happen, powerless to stop it. There was no talk of teaching the child to respect animals and treat them gently. No wonder they thought it was inevitable that the dog would snap one day. They could have fed Bowser behind a closed door. They could have given Bowser a safe place to rest, a space away from the constant harassment from their child. They could have trained Bowser and helped him cope with the trauma he experienced, help him get past that awful moment in his life. Instead, they shut him away from any socialisation and interaction with other dogs or people. They used their little dog to intentionally rile Bowser up, ensuring animosity between the two, by thrusting the snarling, snapping little dog in his face and then laughing. They then kept those two dogs together and blamed Bowser when he hurt the little dog. They let Bowser live in constant anxiety and stress, not keeping him safe and protected. To me, this sounds abusive. They just sat back and let it all happen with no intervention or attempt to help him, completely neglecting his needs. And then they called him a bad dog.
“My Morning Routine...(internal sigh) Winter Edition”😂 I hope Dr. Grande was able to spare himself from actually viewing too much of that “content”. Great analysis as always!
I adored you before. The compassion you show this dog makes you my hero! Dogs aren't jerks naturally. Not enough excerize, consistency, affection, and harsh punishment create problematic behavior. People returning thousands of dogs now we're out of lock down. Breaks my heart that dogs risk their lives everyday for us. We euthanize 5 million per year in US, leave them chained up, starving, dog fighting, ignored, abandoned. Dispicable! Dogs are not disposable✌️💙🐶
As always, the problem is the owners. If you have a dominant dog, don't let your one year old toddler have unsupervised access to that dog. Plain and simple. They would have gotten along when the child grew up a little and learned to respect boundaries.
Thank you for making this video. What this couple did was horrible. I agree with what you said - they didn't understand Bowser, even though they had him for so many years. Poor Bowser deserved much better. 😢
Thanks for your analysis Dr. Grande! Sounds to me that they messed up badly. Why would someone do such a thing? I think they should have given him up to another home or shelter. Poor dog, if he was so dangerous, why would they have him around the child at all? I hope they have to live with their conscience for a long time! TFS Dr. Grande! :)
When I was 15, I was tried to give my dog a kiss and he bit me in the face and I needed stitches throughout my face. I still have the scares. Even I knew I shouldn’t have gotten that close to the dog because he had JUST started to get comfortable with us, as he had a lot of past trauma from mistreatment from his previous owner. And never once did I even consider or would have even let my parents consider ending his life. I shouldn’t have gone past a certain boundary with him and I knew he was sorry once he did it. He acted in a traumatic response, he wasn’t evil. And I never once blamed him. And he’s still in our family, my uncle adopted him, and I love him to death and he is always glad to see me whenever I visit him. Dogs who have trauma need rehabilitation and A LOT of reassurance and love. Dogs are born to love. When they hurt someone, there’s usually a reason- mistreatment from owners, negative and aggressive training, or trauma- and in ANY of those cases, they can be rehabilitated. It just takes time and effort. This family had the money and the fame to find resources. They didn’t WANT to. And it shouldn’t have been taken 9 years for them to do it any way. One the dog was initially traumatized and the behavior changed, they should have gotten help to train him and make sure he was okay, not only for their safety but for the dog’s safety and health as well. Like this all just has me so angry and confused. Like it’s BULLLLSHIT that they had absolutely no other choice?! And even if it’s true that it came to the point of them having no other choice based on “expert opinion,” it’s still their fault for waiting so damn long with no training or rehabilitation for the dog to get to the point where killing the dog was their only option. Like it’s just their fault. Point blank period. No way around it. They need to process that and take responsibility. And yeah when I watched it, none of it sat right with me but ESPECIALLY how much anger was in his tone and face when saying how he wanted to take the dog out and shoot it.. like bro.. they should never be allowed to own a pet ever again.
Ugh that’s so fucked
Wtf!!!! This story just couldn't get any worse
Wow that is inconsistent.

Yes! The “What’s in my Purse, Spring Edition” had me crying. 😂
This same couple was considering adopting a child from Thailand. Apparently there is a Thai adoption law that the adoption isn't final for a year, and during that time you can't show the child on social media. The couple declined the adoption because they wouldn't be able to use the baby and adoption story for views.
Then they tried to adopt from Korea and then tried to foster children and neither of those worked out either.
……. Because (surprise!) everything they do is pre-meditated, calculating, and specifically intended to generate views. There isn’t one ounce of authenticity between them.
I was thinking about the adoption story with all of this. They had so many home visits. If the dog was that dangerous how would they be approved for the adoption?
oh my god
I saw that too. And what amazed me about that and this story too is how they didn't try to conceal it. Like they don't understand how messed up they are and think people will agree.
The way Nikki was chugging on her coffee whilst pretending to be upset as she talks about destroying her dog.. No words.

Yes.
It was bizarre!
I appreciate how he uses words like “destroy” and “kill” instead of “put down” or “euthanize” to really drive home just how egregious this couple’s actions were.
Precisely my thoughts!
Yes because murder is murder
we use words like "put down" because it's the most humane string of events. when you have the option to re-home a dog and you kill it, you murdered it
When I was about 5, I blew air at my dog’s face.
Exactly. I tell my kids dogs can't talk and they give you a warning and if they don't listen....
@@LDiamondz quick correction, they had this dog for 9 YEARS not months, but your point still stands.

The way "destroy" was used took me aback but that's essentially what this family did
"Destroy" is actually a commonly used term over "put down" when you euthanize a dangerous animal. I believe it is even the correct legal term in many areas- though I believe they are phasing it out because it makes people feel uncomfortable TBH. I agree with you, it is an apt term. Euthanize comes from the Greek term meaning "good death". I think we can all agree there is nothing good about this death.
It's a strange choice of language for sure. We'd never say that about a criminal. The violence is what mandated it.
@@hippopajamas Yes here in Ireland anyway a court will order a dangerous dog destroyed. This is a correct term.
The biggest problem I had with the adults in this situation is they had so many options to address the issues developing with poor pupper. Like one of the biggest thing is they could have brought in a behaviorist to address the issues. They had the money for trips but not to help Bowser. He became disposable because they were too lazy and self involved.
it sounds like bowser became a nuance for them, so they decided to kill him. like they had him for nine years and were like, meh done!

There's also a video out there of them deciding against adopting a child from thailand because one of the rules around such an international adoption was that they couldn't put the child or the childs image on social media for a certain amount of time in order to finalize the adoption.

Lastly, Dr.

Funny you should mention it. He did go through a biting phase. She asked what she should do on Instagram, and decided on biting him back. No joke.

May be the Phillippi's should have made sure their son was adequately fed so the child didn't have to Compete with the Dog for Food
💀
That's stupid thing to say
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also, on a more serious note, I’m hugging my rescue dog extra tight while watching this. Thank you so much for bringing this to light. Love, dog owners everywhere 💜
Sending virtual hug to your rescue!!! Will hug mine extra hard after watching that video!
I'm sorry to me it sounded like they needed to train the child more than they needed to train the dog.
Their 1 year old???
@@katesicle yes! He was abusive to the dog. Look it up.
@@bigmona2741 how are you supposed to teach a 1 year old to not mess with things? they’re 1.
@@bigmona2741 abusive? That’s a huge reach and gross exaggeration. He’s a baby, he can’t even communicate properly
Bless you all xxx
she killed her dog
I think the photo part is the most damning. They say the dog bit their child and they were protecting the child. But they're putting their child in harm's way by taking a photo. If bowser was as "bipolar" as they say he was, he could have bit their child. Absolutely disgusting human beings!
I agree. If he was do dangerous, why pose for pictures with your baby son with a "Cujo" dog? These peole also made money off of the video. That really angered me. Plus I was annoyed seeing her drinking coffee talking about killing their dog like if it was just no big deal.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted their child to get bit so they have an excuse to kill the dog
@@Sec0ndCumming If that’s true, it speaks volumes about them.

That Nikki chick is a complete psychopath! Everything in front of the camera is an act to her.
How crazy that they didn't try and rehome him!!! 💔
I'm so sorry. :(
I'm sorry you had to go through this.
Dogs and cats are so pure. We don’t deserve them. ❤️
🐈 🐕 ☮☯️
Absolutely! And rats, too. All animals, really.
Such a sad story. Their judgment was awful, there were a number of options that could have been explored before coming up with this resolution.
Another observation, I just find very inappropriate to use psychological terms to describe behaviors of animals.
Thanks for the upload Dr. Grande! ❤️
I have two Bull Terriers this story is just hard knowing the breed.
It's heartbreaking
All of my dog's bad behaviors are eventually corrected with love, gentle love. Gentle conversation and direction. "No!" when nothing else works.
It was not a choice I agree with, but it wasn’t completely out of
Reason. As a dog owner yourself, you have to imagine they’re plenty hurt by this decision.
I had such a physical, visceral reaction to this story. These people are disgusting. Thank you for being such a good dog mom!
@@samhand4432 the context was enough and they had other options besides putting the dog down
@@samhand4432 you clearly didn’t watch this whole video’s explanation or THEIR videos for that matter. It’s plenty of context to judge this horrible couple
Our dog bit me when I was younger, we found a new owner (against my will) instead of murdering her
You mean you wanted to keep it or to kill it?
You just know at least one of the two absolutely hated the dog and was just waiting for the opportunity to destroy it
What triggered me most is they’ve had this dog for almost 10 stinkin years!
So happy to get your notification Dr Grande, I feel safe now.
For some reason this reminds me of the Mika & James Stauffer case. Thank goodness we aren’t allowed to euthanize humans.
They tried to adopt a child from overseas but the adoption agency wouldn't allow them to share the child on any social media or TH-cam for at least a year. When Nikki and Dan couldn't make money off the adoption they decided against it.
@@magbarcoe1277 - Wow! That’s disgusting. I’m glad to hear they couldn’t adopt.
@@grumpyoldlady_rants Shows they didn't want to adopt for the love they could give them only for what they could gain financially.
I agree Dr. Grande. This story makes me sad. I adore my dog; can't imagine committing pain or death upon her.

I appreciate your obvious care for animals, thank you

I’m utterly confused about “My Morning Routine: Winter Addition” ... most people have got the same routine year-round, no? Mine is: brush teeth, drink coffee, do work. What on Earth is she doing in different seasons that’s so interesting?! “Oh in the winter I prefer to backflip out the bed and brush my teeth on the moon”
Usually they get a sponsor so new routing time! It’s getting annoying. I haven’t watched Nikki in years so I don’t know if that’s what she does but a lot of lifestyle creators do.

Have been waiting for this for a few days. I knew Dr.Grande would deliver✨
Animals are not people too... They are better than people and should be treated as such!!!
I know friends who had aggressive dogs but they found ways to help them. This story always makes me sad
I just can't understand how people can be so stupid and cruel
Idk how you do it Dr Grande but thank you for discussing this matter-of-factly and calmly. These people are unbelievable.
For those who may not understand these references:
Kujo is a killer dog from a Stephen King novel.
Waiting for this! So sad what they did to the dog
How could anyone do something like this? I hope they face the consequences.
Seriously, is there any way we can cancel this heartless couple so they can't monetize off of youtube? Like a petition or call to action?
This is another subject that my mind and heart just can't deal with, people taking a dog into their home, that pet becoming a part of their family, and then when it becomes inconvenient, they one way or the other, get rid of their pet. Children and domestic animals are at the mercy of people, and for someone to abuse that more vulnerable creature is unforgivable! The fact that they made a big public scene about the whole thing is so disgusting!
I'm very glad you made this video, Dr. Grande!! ♡
I hope their kid never bites anyone.
Thanks, Doc. Stay safe.
“My Morning Routine...(internal sigh) Winter Edition”😂
I hope Dr.
Always glad to see new videos
TFS Dr. Grande! :)
Happy Mother's Day, Everyone! Thanks for the post, Doctor. Would you cover HG Tudor, please?
