  • I share how to design a subtly evolving pad on the Roland SH-4d desktop synthesizer that can sit well in all kind of genres including ambient, lofi, synthwave, Berlin school, other electronic music genres, and even pop. I talk about basic pad synthesis design, and then explore incorporating the shimmer reverb, discuss modifying its settings, and which settings might be preferable depending on your intended harmonic complexity. This includes some limited discussion of applicable music theory and the harmonic overtone series.
