I really shouldn't watch these "old Rover P6 - will it run?" videos. As the ex-owner of a beautiful 1971 P6B, it breaks my heart to see how neglected and abused some of these cars have become. I haven't owned that car for many years now, but I still remember how smooth and comfortable it was to drive. It was one of those cars that made you feel really great to be seen driving in it, because its styling was so individual, if not to say beautiful. I'd put it up there with the Citroen DS and Mk II Jag as one of the iconic designs of all time.
It's good to see someone is making videos of these classic cars before they are all gone and forgotten. keep it going Aron. Nice to see David-Yoda today thinking about getting to the pub for a pint. Looking forward to Mum and Lucas-Winston back again to make up the team
Don’t come knocking when the car is rocking 13:11 - great 👍🏻 video. Now I’m hooked. Love seeing people resurrect classic British cars. Right up my street.
I bought a brand new 3500S manual with denovo tyres,(a load of crap that were noisy and worn out at 2000 miles)for £1850 from Hollindrakes Stockport around 1974.I sold it for £2600 in 1976 due to hi inflation.
Oh, after all this dead time, I'm loving the upcoming videos. I guess you've got your camera sorted out. Looking forward to your new videos, Sheldon. Keep it coming!
@@classic_britain yes, mate. I saw that video but thought you'd got it sorted. Don't worry mate, I will wait until you get yourself sorted. The best things come to those who wait.
Hi Sheldon, So, after our live chat re: the Rover P6’s near where I live in Fife, Scotland which has disappeared as it was live chat I’m guessing, I did some research. It’s showing as a 2000 sc with 19000 miles on the clock! I could only see one when I passed today but there might be more and I also spied what looked like an Austin Cambridge and a Rover Sterling (not classic enough that one I guess). Imagine if that really only has 19,000 miles on the clock eh? What a find that could be!
I thought I saw this in its natural habitat (a petrol station) today, but the one I saw had been blown over, had hubcaps and multi dial dash, not strip speedo which I thought was odd for a series 1
I've got a legal spare wheel with air in and no leaky valve, a jack, a locking wheel nut adapter and a wheel brace that fits the nuts, just a pity the brace doesn't undue the nuts 😅😄😀😂😅😄😀😂😅😂
It's not difficult to get one of these running, as long as the motor turns, and has not suffered corrosion damage. What is FAR more difficult is the weeks of welding, and the need to make many of the repair sections. Why not some videos showing what's entailed, and ideally a few featuring fully restored cars, with some input from the restorers, with their views on whether this work is something that should be attempted, by anyone who might not be a very good welder, with a well-equipped workshop?

Hahahaha but it's a good thing as I am saving the cars =)
They had a solid frame with every panel bolted on thus easily replaced.Didnt like servicing the inboard rear brakes though!
I had an R reg P6B, 3500 auto. I owned it for a while in the 80's. The only car I ever had that brought a tear to my eye when I had to sell it.

Shame it's on sale for parts in Ramsgate now !!!
Excellent job Sheldon! Glad you got it back running.
I hope whoever owns this will do a good restore and drive it, it needs to be driven!

Yes it has been a while but I did post a video with a fans P6 3 days ago! And yes and no on the camera!

Seeing the grille (& I'm not doubting the year you've put. You know best) this would be a 1970 "J". A 1971 "J" would be a P6B with the plastic grille.
blimey! that sounds better then my motor and i service mine when i ave to 😳..... long live the v8 👍
Hahaha oh dear!

Wow do you have Instagram? Would love to see some pictures!
Hi, I said in a previous comment that there is a Vauxhall Velux near me that has sat out in the open for 30 years. It's not a Velux it's a Victor FB.
Cool. Knowing about these cars. I explore places but your channel is cool
Thanks mate means alot
The camera man sure has one steady hand.
You mean the tripod LOL!
"We have been here before" is all you have to say.
Thanks!
Oh mate that's very kind of you paying back that £350 I gave you last year bit by bit! Hahahaha just joking!
Lovely job 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👍👍
Didn't realize David was so tall probably because we rarely see him standing straight in your videos 😀😄😅😀😄😅😀😄😀
He is not its all perspective
Why didn’t you film the sound from the exhaust 😂
Sheldon the two P6 in Ipswich town can be seen using google earth in the front garden 👍
Where abouts?
16yrs must be an old shed.
I thought I saw this in its natural habitat (a petrol station) today, but the one I saw had been blown over, had hubcaps and multi dial dash, not strip speedo which I thought was odd for a series 1
Oh my god hope they were ok!
@@classic_britain he means it had bin cheaply painted.not literally blown over.

The car is anything but Dul.LOL
Amazing how these unpolished diamonds resurface….. maybe calling it a diamond is exaggerating a bit 😂.
J reg is 1971
I know but it was built in 69
1971/2
If its a 1969 why has it got a j reg on it
