Back in the 1970's my wife and I bought several 500,00 cars. Back then you got a car with a perfect body and interior. In the rust belt north. And you could drive it with no problems for years. Miss those days. My first car was a 1965 Mercury Comet four door sedan that my dad bought for me for 75.00 dollars. Transmission was shot, so I went to a local salvage yard and bought a good used transmission for 35.00 dollars. My brother and I installed the good transmission. Drove it for two years before giving it to my sister and she drove it for six years before trading it in on a 1968 Ford Fairlane.

After many hours and even days of work, suddenly your old engine start running, in this moment your heart is full of joy and your face send it to the world through a big smile......
I had a self modified 1965. 225, milled head 0.090, 318 two barrel, 3.91, 8 3/4 positrac axel, factory heavy duty finned drum brakes front, 8 3/4 10" rear drums, 14" wheels, 2 1/2 exhaust w/turbo muffler (reasonably quiet vs glass pack). It would pull trailers or whatever with little effort.
We had these in Australia, best cars ever made. My Dad had a 66 wagon with a 273 , he bought from my uncle after he drove it from Katherine in the northern territory to Melbourne with no oil . He got it rebuilt and some work done , used to beat 351s easy. My mate has just rebuilt a 65 AP5 sedan with the slant 6. Great old beast. The later ones in Australia had our Hemi 6 and they would make 300 Hp easy. The early 70 model VG valiant was a very good car with the 245 Hemi. The ones after had 265s and they went so hard and lasted forever. I've always had a 77 regal se 318, did 750,000 klms with a stock 318 fireball , we didn't have much polution crap until 78 so cars were very fast if you pur a 4bbl on. Now it's got a nice 360 ,Edelbrock heads and all the good gear. 450hp . Wife found a 67 impala factory rh drive Holden had sent over here back then. They are a beast of a thing, 327 should hammer. Used Edelbrock heads and roller rockers with a Lunati voodoo cam and lifters. The 327 revs like 318 except the heads suck on 318s. The young bloke there is going to be a genius with cars . Good man keep him learning.
Wow, great find! My dad and I rescued an abandoned '62 Lancer wagon in 1977. The engine had been run dry, which caused the abandonment. He found a '62 Valiant sedan wrecked with a good engine. That was an aluminum 225 S6, which dropped right in. I drove the resulting "new" car as my very own, first "daily driver" transportation until 1987. By then it was taking too much time to keep it roadworthy (brake slave cylinders froze-up). Sold it to a guy who collected this particular model family for $1200. Good luck with this project. The stares and comments from people who see it will be worth the effort.
I love the fact that your son stuck it out and helped you the entire time . My son was the same way and went on to graduate college with his bachelors in psychology but still works on his own car
You guys remind me so much of my son and I my son is 14 and he looks a lot like your kid and we watch your videos every night. It’s not unfortunate we do it on purpose because you love your Contant we love Wawa Ralphie, your wife and you please keep up the good videos. We’re gonna order some merch soon sleeper dude rocks.
I am a new subscriber Jan 2024 going back and watching all your old videos and have watched you say this comment several times. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but if you pull around a snatch block pulley to reverse the direction of the pull, it does not double the power of your winch. The tension in the cable is exactly the same as if you were straight pulling (assuming a theoretically frictionless pulley). Pulley friction can increase the tension, but that's probably negligible. Only by pulling from the winch, to a pulley, and then back to the same point as the winch would you double the pulling power of your winch because then two lines are pulling in the same direction splitting the tension between the two. Also you have to pull twice as much line in this scenario to move the object the same distance. Love the work, the content, and the vibe of your channel for sure. Keep up the great work and it's awesome you've been able to turn this in to your full time gig.
The leaning tower of power! That’s a cool find! I’m a big fan of the wagons and that one looks awesome, rocky is one heck of a detail man lol gonna have her spit shined in no time
The spark plug drool tubes take the same o ring as the 426 hemi! Same part number. The tubes are different though. Don't damage them because they are impossible to find.
Cool wagon. Haven't seen one in a long time. My Pa had a two door stick shift that he used as a shop loaner and I drove it a few times. Reliable and good on gas.

WOW! It sounded smooth when that thing finally cranked up! Blew a bunch of junk (and roaches) out of the exhaust! Great sound!! Just need a muffler and you are on your way! I love the sound of a straight six, the car manufacturers went way off course when they stopped building the straight 6! Of course, you just might want to loosen up those front wheel bearings a bit! That kid will never get sick. Eating off the floor with a goat and popping a soda from the bottom of a dirty shoe! Priceless!
I agree. Was born and raised on a farm. Had many times ate lunch without access to water to wash the hands. Don't want to get into more detail don't want to gross people out on here.😂
Of course it runs, the Chrysler slant six was as reliable as the tide and taxes! I love the starting sound of slant sixes with gear reduction starter. I've had many, brings back lots of good memories. Can you show a close up of your flip flop beer opener and how it works?
Had my doubts for it to run. Sounded like no copression, but perserverance saved the day. The ignition switch is easily removed. Take it to a locksmith, he'll cut a key by code. Good luck on the wagon, they just don't make them anymore.
@@Sleeperdude Don't cotton to flip-flops around a mechanics shop To easy to drop something and lose your toes. Even stubbing a toe, would be very painfully.
Love the 64 darts! I've owned mine since '74. Yes the accelerator plunger is a leather cup, not always so, but it's fairly common on many cars of that vintage. I usually soak the leather cups in oil, before I install them. Also, don't scrimp on the hydraulic brake parts. That is a single reservoir master cylinder. You lose pressure at any point in the system, you've got nothing but your e-brake. When my wife was driving my 63 dart, the left front flexible brake line blew and she had no brakes coming down a steep hill in Seattle. Somehow she survived the big hill, and continued driving home REALLY slowly, using the auto trans park pawl when she HAD to stop.
Instead of gravity feeding the carburetor, try gravity feeding the fuel pump to prime it, then tap on the valves to try to free them up just like the float valve.
When checking the transmission fluid level on a '64, you're supposed to run it through all the gears first. You mentioned hydraulic lifters earlier in the video. I'm pretty sure it has solid lifters. Yeah, I've owned two '64s in my life. Love that pushbutton transmission.
Nice! My 66' Plymouth Valiant fired off right away after sitting for 6 years, with a new battery. Those old slant 6's are awesome. It's the 225, and it was my daily driver for the past 5 years. Decided to restore her last year.
Love that car. She's gonna be beautiful going down the road. Love to see kids like Ralfie getting involved. I was like that myself. Keep it up young man.
That is the old Slant Six motor, that is one to the best engines that Chrysler ever made as long as it has not been hot. That engine does not like to be run hot at all
This wagon has been an easy revival so far, and on 25 or more year old spark plugs. You might not need a big envelope to get this one going and sold. it must be nice to have a bit of an easy win so far. I know it isn't finish, but I hope it is a sign of things to come.. Great find. It was funny seeing you all trying to push the car into the workshop. It was even more funny seeing the way your wife was rocking the car as you were pulling it up the trailer. Her style was something else 🤣🤣🤣🤣. It must be great having her hands on support.
Man I love that wagon!! Can't beat those slant 6 engines!!! Love what y'all do brother!!! Old cars have always brought families together. One way or another.
Accidentally found this channel and fell in love with the goat❤️and the Dart! Grandpa had a 63 Dart 270 with the 225 slant 6! Best engine ever he’d boast💯
Heck's was a department store chain from West Virginia. They had over 150 stores throughout several states, mostly Mid-Atlantic, a little of the Midwest, Virginia, NC, and Maryland. They started going broke in the mid-'80's. The filter is "Private" label for them, mostly likely made by Purolator under contract.
@@Sleeperdude funny thing? I'm a military brat, grew up overseas most of those years. But did have to live in Dayton, Ohio and remember them- never went In the stores, 😆
Remember to always spray the starting fluid at the same time your turning the car over . And from what I remember when I had my 64 . I had to put the pedal to pump it and then put the pedal to the floor. To start it when cold .
Probably one of my favorite videos so far. From the “r u n n o f t” joke and Ralphie’s “whuuuut” response, to Rocky climbing up your back to get on the roof it was epic. It was funny when Ralphie tried to scare you when you hooked up that battery. You know darn well you would have done the same if he had been the one hooking it up. Then to finish things off your wife tried to give you a shower of RC Cola lol. Seems like humor is lost on so many folks these days, it’s nice to see you guys having so much fun.
Gotta big smile on my face my dad had a 4 door dodge same year it was tan with red interior. When I was five there’s pices of me helping him change the tire on the car. Those adds really brought a lot of memory’s back to me thanks.😊
Had a 65 Valiant wagon. Starter solenoid went out. Started it with a screwdriver, drove to the parts store, disconnected the battery, leaned over the drivers fender took out the starter got another and replaced it like I took it out. I’d love to own your Dart!
Wow, what a find and it has all the glass intact? My parents had a 65 station wagon with the 170 slant six and three on the tree. It was a tank until my brother rolled it.
I've been working at a body shop for a bit now and extra tips I learned was if you're painting the door, it's better to take off the mirror and belt molding (the trim at the bottom of the window) for a better paint job in the end. The mirror can get in the way, and if you're unlucky, the clear coat could stick in that gap between the door and the belt molding
I bet this cute little wagon was gorgeous when it rolled off the assembly line - that is a factory roof rack - which were fairly rare - is this a 2 or 3 seat model - I’m guessing a 2 seat model since 3 seat models came with a standard power rear window - one of my mother’s first cars was the 4 door sedan version of this wagon - no air conditioning or power steering or brakes but it did have the push button Chrysler Corp Torque Flite transmission - it had those same Dart badges on each front fender

I'm from Mexicali, Mexico, I had one just like it, it belonged to my brother-in-law and he later sold it to me, it was a great vehicle, we had changed the original engine for a 318, and it flew on the highway, back in the 80s, my girlfriend and I we enjoyed traveling in it, it was very good on the road, and very comfortable, too bad I had to sell it due to money problems, it was in the 90s, even today I regret having sold it, I have never seen one like it again and with this video I feel nostalgic, thanks for sharing.
@@wileecoyote5749 I suspect you been smokin some wacky weed... 64 Darts in immaculate condition on Hemmings are rarely changing hands for more than $3500 to $6500 and something with the hott 273 4barrel 4speed and a convertible might fetch 10k to 14k depending on it's survivor status..... After many hours and even days of work, suddenly your old engine start running, in this moment your heart is full of joy and your face send it to the world through a big smile......
Yes it was an amazing feeling
I had a self modified 1965. 225, milled head 0.090, 318 two barrel, 3.91, 8 3/4 positrac axel, factory heavy duty finned drum brakes front, 8 3/4 10" rear drums, 14" wheels, 2 1/2 exhaust w/turbo muffler (reasonably quiet vs glass pack). It would pull trailers or whatever with little effort.
Drag anything thru the intersection.
The low end grunt torque of the 225 was amazing. Longer stroke than a 440.
Thank you. Yes I hope he continues to enjoy the car stuff
This is the car that deserves a restoration! It just oozes 1960’s family wagon. That’s a keeper !
Thank you
Haha, Rocky is getting more and more nuts with every video. I love how he casually jumps on your back while you keep on working :)
You can watch him and see what he’s thinking. He’s hilarious

That’s awesome thanks
Slant six , awesome motor, Newer Upgrades will scare you , Enjoy The Build ...
The old leaning tower of power runs pretty darn good! Great show guys! 👍
Thank you
I love the fact that your son stuck it out and helped you the entire time . My son was the same way and went on to graduate college with his bachelors in psychology but still works on his own car
That’s great
The goat is the star of the show.
For sure
Ok thanks for watching
The leaning tower of power! That’s a cool find! I’m a big fan of the wagons and that one looks awesome, rocky is one heck of a detail man lol gonna have her spit shined in no time
Thank you I love wagons too
The oil issue on plugs is from the inner seal insert around the plugs . Depends on year some are removable and have gaskets and o rings
Ok I thought so
The spark plug drool tubes take the same o ring as the 426 hemi! Same part number. The tubes are different though. Don't damage them because they are impossible to find.
Cool wagon. Haven't seen one in a long time. My Pa had a two door stick shift that he used as a shop loaner and I drove it a few times. Reliable and good on gas.
That’s cool
At first when I saw it I.thought it was a old.dart
Looking.closer it's a American.car in.the u.s.a yheynever had dodge dart thet.had a SIGNET WHICHLOOKSA LOT DIFFERANT

Awesome!!! Gotta love that Rocky guy!!!
Priceless!
Thank you I appreciate it
Hi
I agree. Was born and raised on a farm. Had many times ate lunch without access to water to wash the hands. Don't want to get into more detail don't want to gross people out on here.😂
Great job getting the car running and yep once the compression built up she turned right over. Keep up the great work.
Thank you
Of course it runs, the Chrysler slant six was as reliable as the tide and taxes! I love the starting sound of slant sixes with gear reduction starter. I've had many, brings back lots of good memories. Can you show a close up of your flip flop beer opener and how it works?
Memories yes! We had a 62 dart slant we used to race around in the woods when I was a teen, fun! 😁
Yes they are good reliable engines. The flip flops are made by reef
Had my doubts for it to run. Sounded like no copression, but perserverance saved the day. The ignition switch is easily removed. Take it to a locksmith, he'll cut a key by code. Good luck on the wagon, they just don't make them anymore.
@@jeromebreeding3302 while the designed compression is higher it will frequently run with much lower compression, often below 85 psi.
@@Sleeperdude Don't cotton to flip-flops around a mechanics shop To easy to drop something and lose your toes. Even stubbing a toe, would be very painfully.
i had a 1965 AP6 regal safari wagon - white blue interior 273 v8 a904 auto and a good diff ! - disc brake front and extractors .
That sounds fun
Oh wow that’s a crazy story, thanks for the info
Instead of gravity feeding the carburetor, try gravity feeding the fuel pump to prime it, then tap on the valves to try to free them up just like the float valve.
Ok thanks
@@Sleeperdudehi
When checking the transmission fluid level on a '64, you're supposed to run it through all the gears first. You mentioned hydraulic lifters earlier in the video. I'm pretty sure it has solid lifters. Yeah, I've owned two '64s in my life. Love that pushbutton transmission.
Ok thank you
Nice! My 66' Plymouth Valiant fired off right away after sitting for 6 years, with a new battery. Those old slant 6's are awesome. It's the 225, and it was my daily driver for the past 5 years. Decided to restore her last year.
That’s great
Josh and Tosh, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful family with us! I absolutely enjoy every video you guys put out! Keep up the good work!
Very good that he is showing his son mechanic we work
Love that car. She's gonna be beautiful going down the road. Love to see kids like Ralfie getting involved. I was like that myself. Keep it up young man.
Thank you
That is the old Slant Six motor, that is one to the best engines that Chrysler ever made as long as it has not been hot. That engine does not like to be run hot at all
Ok thanks
Nicely made with Your Son .....
Much Love to Y'all.....🤠❤❤

hello how are you doing 😊
This wagon has been an easy revival so far, and on 25 or more year old spark plugs. You might not need a big envelope to get this one going and sold. it must be nice to have a bit of an easy win so far. I know it isn't finish, but I hope it is a sign of things to come.. Great find. It was funny seeing you all trying to push the car into the workshop. It was even more funny seeing the way your wife was rocking the car as you were pulling it up the trailer. Her style was something else 🤣🤣🤣🤣. It must be great having her hands on support.
Thank you. Yes it’s always good to get one going . She is great and always is helping
GREAT series! LOVE the fact you include your family!! Show us more on this wagon!
Glad you enjoyed it thank you
Man I love that wagon!! Can't beat those slant 6 engines!!! Love what y'all do brother!!! Old cars have always brought families together. One way or another.

Just stumbled upon your channel and man I dig it. Love how engaged the family is.

Accidentally found this channel and fell in love with the goat❤️and the Dart!
Grandpa had a 63 Dart 270 with the 225 slant 6!

Great video. Awesome to see you get her running again. Sounds good for as long as she had been sitting. Glad to see how much fun thst was to watch!

We call that engine the SLANT 6, because of the way it is built.
Awesome

Heck's was a department store chain from West Virginia. They had over 150 stores throughout several states, mostly Mid-Atlantic, a little of the Midwest, Virginia, NC, and Maryland. They started going broke in the mid-'80's.
The filter is "Private" label for them, mostly likely made by Purolator under contract.
I remember Heck's. And Hill's.
Ok thank you I had never heard of them before
@@Sleeperdude funny thing? I'm a military brat, grew up overseas most of those years. But did have to live in Dayton, Ohio and remember them- never went In the stores, 😆
I think you beat me to it about Hecks, lol. Yes, that filter was likely a re branded Purolator. Are you from that area @olikat8?
Hecks.an hells.
Remember to always spray the starting fluid at the same time your turning the car over . And from what I remember when I had my 64 . I had to put the pedal to pump it and then put the pedal to the floor. To start it when cold .
Ok thank you
Probably one of my favorite videos so far.
Thank you glad you enjoyed it. Yes Ralphie is a true prankster he is always after his mom with something.
Saw this video because of TH-cam algorithm.
Love this, the whole family (and goat) works on this project..
Yes thank you ..
Gotta big smile on my face my dad had a 4 door dodge same year it was tan with red interior. When I was five there’s pices of me helping him change the tire on the car. Those adds really brought a lot of memory’s back to me thanks.😊
Awesome!!
Had a 65 Valiant wagon. Starter solenoid went out. Started it with a screwdriver, drove to the parts store, disconnected the battery, leaned over the drivers fender took out the starter got another and replaced it like I took it out. I’d love to own your Dart!
That’s awesome it may be for sale at some point
Wow, what a find and it has all the glass intact?
My parents had a 65 station wagon with the 170 slant six and three on the tree. It was a tank until my brother rolled it.
Yes thank you
I've been working at a body shop for a bit now and extra tips I learned was if you're painting the door, it's better to take off the mirror and belt molding (the trim at the bottom of the window) for a better paint job in the end. The mirror can get in the way, and if you're unlucky, the clear coat could stick in that gap between the door and the belt molding
A family project, having fun working on it, your are blessed. Good luck with this project. 👍👍
Thank you
I bet this cute little wagon was gorgeous when it rolled off the assembly line - that is a factory roof rack - which were fairly rare - is this a 2 or 3 seat model - I’m guessing a 2 seat model since 3 seat models came with a standard power rear window - one of my mother’s first cars was the 4 door sedan version of this wagon - no air conditioning or power steering or brakes but it did have the push button Chrysler Corp Torque Flite transmission - it had those same Dart badges on each front fender
So cool
I'm surprised compression came up as easy as it did! Stuck valves are a real pain!
Yeah it surprised me
Perhaps the Marvile mistory oil helped
Just happen to run across this video I like how you picked a good odd looking station wagon that needs a little help I respect how you have your son working on the cars Right next to you I can’t wait for another video on the wagon oh and the goat was killing me too

That’s a great story I wish mine had a v8

It's easily worth over $300K as it sits
@@wileecoyote5749 how so?
@@wileecoyote5749 I suspect you been smokin some wacky weed... 64 Darts in immaculate condition on Hemmings are rarely changing hands for more than $3500 to $6500 and something with the hott 273 4barrel 4speed and a convertible might fetch 10k to 14k depending on it's survivor status.....
But $300k?,,,, only if you bought one that came with a FREE HEMI Cuda to boot.
*Very nice ~Happy to see this~I think there was a lot of mystery oil in the intake~That would keep it from firing for a long period ~If you turned it over several times then suctioned it all out of the intake and the cylinders ~Then it would have started much sooner*
