  • Taken from the VHS release of "Rust Never Sleeps: A Concert Fantasy." Was surprised to see many of the incredible performances from this concert film not uploaded to TH-cam. I'd venture to call it a masterpiece of the genre.

Billy has always walked around like that and in circles, he's 80 now it shows sadly, always fascinated me watching him at gigs and Neil's rocking back and fore, I'm not 100% but I think that's as a result of the Polio he had as a kid, most who survived ended up with a leg shorter than the other. Both are fascinating to watch, love them.

This is DEFINITELY the best Neil Young live footage video! I was raised on classic rock from birth and this song came out the year I was born which is cool to know.

The concert is restricted in a lot of Countries thanks to MGM? I have the DVD one of the best Concert footage I've seen along with Live in Berlin and Rusted out Garage.

Watched this in Manila 44 years ago. Back in the day when a ticket buys you a seat in the movie house for the entire day. Sat through multiple screenings of this classic concert film for 2 specific reasons. 1. Great music from the immortal NY 2. Stoned out of my effin’mind and unable to stand up.

One of my favorite pieces that I can never hear often enough. I still remember exactly how proud I was to have finally found the record in a store back in 1979. Back then, music wasn't available at all times like it is today; for some records you had to spend weeks traipsing around stores.
Before I bought the record myself, I only knew the acoustic version, My my hey hey, and I really wanted to have it. When I first put it on I was excited and thought it was the last song on the second side. When I listened to it, I was a little shocked and thought there was a lot of dust under the needle because it sounded so distorted. Only then did I see that there are two versions of the song on the album. The whole album is a masterpiece and I really appreciate how it evolves from piece to piece. I still like to play the old record from back then, even though I also have it on CD and as a digital version on my computer - the record has never gathered dust on me.

Cuando vi por primera vez este video me impresionó ver y escuchar a Neil Young tocar y cantar hard rock con toda la crudeza y distorsión hecha obra de arte. Una de las actuaciones en vivo más impresionantes que he visto.

The contrast with the accoustic version, is so stark. The heavy stomping, even rage in some versions. A reaction of the guitar of this thought it was “beautiful” and Folk,…yet they didn’t note The King vs Rotten lyric…and, didn’t know how lyric from this, used by Kurt C’ at his chosen death, really disturbed Neil Y’. This is a song of transition in music, and emotion, and generation.

May not be the best song ever. But those jams he does in between singing are stimulate my my music pleasure center as well as any song i consider a Masterpiece. Simple chords, but the frikkin essence of rock and roll.

Very cool! Never seen Neil Young in concert, but so happy it will finally be fulfilled in May as I got tix on Thursday for May. I can't wait and this will be EPIC! Probably the artist I've always wanted to see, but never did and now a reality! I hope he performs this classic. WOW! Tix weren't cheap, but will be worth it. He's an amazing live performer. He still has it! I love this at the RNR HOF induction in 1995 playing with the members of Led Zeppelin and "When The Levee Breaks." Neil is going nuts on this tune. Probably one of the best performances ever at this ceremony along with Prince and his soloing on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" a few years later. I know Page. Plant and Jones are all big fans of Neil. Especially Plant.Their song "Down By The Seaside" from Zep's Physical Graffiti in 1975 is a nod to Neil's "Down By The River.." It's my favorite Led Zeppelin album and saying something, being a huge fanvof the band.Their appreciation for him. Cool and well done!!! Here's the members of LZ with Neil. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/1aFqjP1iuzY/w-d-xo.html

That's because it is grunge. I don't know why people are so shocked about this, grunge was around long before the word grunge was associated with it.

@@user-ie5rr7mj9u ohhhhhhh okay smart guy because as far as I and the rest of the world know, grunge was formed in the early 90's and this song is considered classic rock today and rock and roll in that time period so...

No doubt Neil Young had a huge reverberation in the grunge sound, but the overdrive effect was greatly developed by proto-punk bands like MC5, The Stooges and even T-Rex.

Pure Gold. F' en Fantastic. The thing about it is , this was one of the original rock and roll songs I heard on New York radio and it blew my mind.
.. what can be said.. 2024 ..and now I'm finally reading Neil Young waging heavy peace.. it's a pretty good book.
.. you kind of rambles a lot but he's told some okay stories about his tour bus on fire....
... How are some of the more deeper heavier songs in the rock and roll library... What can you say, he's from Canada, ay. Pure Gold.. where is the rest of this concert footage?
