Did you catch that American Spirit sponsors a lot of movies? This one. Rushmore. I could go on. Gotta have that eagle logo in the shot.
What's the point of this short? That scene you're referring to was at the very end of the movie. Basically everyone was smoking.. they were all about to die!
But wasn’t it proven that Tyler don’t know shit about shit? Seems like it could be true, but it’s contradictory to what happens with his character lol
Palate* not palette, and I'm fairly certain this line is also a reference to the Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover
I’m still trying to get over the fact that this is a movie and what was the point, I guess I’m to much of a caveman to understand
That is an exaggeration of the effect of smoking on the palette. Any strong flavor will do the same thing.
Yet Marco Pierre White who mentored Gordon Ramsay smoke cigarettes so go transition or something lol.
I can confirm, smoking makes expensive food taste as horrible as it looks 😂
I think she took one cigarette from Margot, couse you know... she knew that she was going to die pretty soon.
it could just as easily be because Lillian is about to freaking die and her review will never come out.
Uhm 50% of chefs are regular smokers and theres still a lot of fine palets among them
Alternatively she is indicating that Tyler is indeed full of shit.
Palate.
As a regular smoker my taste buds are fine lol it’s the sense of smell that’s gone
Seams like everyone missed this.
Am I the only one who thinks this film is highly overrated ?
Sometimes it literally the opposite of what you said.
Makes me hate her character even more! I love this movie haha
By the end everyone smokes....
I mean I’m not a regular smoker but given the circumstance? I’d light one as well
And if you weren't a regular smoker - where would you get it from on an isolated island?
Ahhh..thank you
Dumb video. Did you know the sky is blue?
Spot on brev.
I’m trying to muster how it was all covered up. Even the Coast Guard was in on it
That wasn’t the coast guard and they all died there was nothing to cover uo
It was a private island. And they had never down that before. It was a one off
If you look in the background of the scene where the chef thanks the coast guard he’s seen putting on uniform and stands with the rest of the crew
Now that me dislike Lillian more
Also at the end, when the whole restaurant is burning, "Margo" has her first proper bite of food
This movie was so obnoxious...
It was kinda like one piece sanjis arc
I did not catch that 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It's not about the smoking hurting your palette. It's about how pretentious the rich and the elites can be. Slowik used to cook greasy burgers and for him that's what's worth for all these fiascos. An unhealthy but savoury burger. But the critics would go far and beyond to insult food as if hunger and starvation doesn't exist in the world because they live in their own bubble. Besides, in the end they all smoked together till the end of their lives.
It's a breakdown of how professional kitchens are what takes the joy out of cooking. I am, in my opinion and the opinion of those I have cooked for, a good home chef, but I could NEVER work in a professional kitchen. I love cooking too much to turn it into a job. It's something I enjoy, not something I want to stress put about. Burnt and The Menu opened my eyes to that.
I smoke but i can still taste food
Actual chef here who smokes regularly. It only impacts taste for about 30 mins
Actual addict here. It’s totally fine guys 😊
@@angelsaucedo2231it’s not like he said that smoking was cool or that he said he was a fucking crack addict he was just stating facts lol i’m a bartender who smokes and it’s not like having 1 cigarettes make you unable to taste shit for the rest of your life it just alters it a lil bit after you do it thats why i usually only smoke while walking to go to work and after my shift and if i’m planning to R&D on a new cocktail i won’t smoke before going to work to make sure my palette isn’t fucked
@@gustave7619 yeah he clearly said he smokes regularly. You wont notice any changes to your senses the same way you wont notice your nails yellowing because it all happens little by little. You finally notice nails because its obviously visible but youll say you havent noticed palette changes cause its not like it totally makes you not taste things. But as most quitters can attest after being heavy smokers when the senses come back you realize youd been affected all along.
@@angelsaucedo2231 I was a smoker for over 20 years and quit. I never lost my sense of taste. Food taste the same when I was a smoker and since I quit almost 3 years ago.
I still don't get why they all burned themselves as well
Because they gave up
I caught everything
Palate. Not palette.
Bro her heyes are like so far
*palate 🙄
No I haven’t seen it …
Shes georgeous
I picked smoking in 2021 and I quit Jan 1 2024, the taste of food coming back was like euphoria, when I smoked it all tasted bland and I didn’t even crave food anymore. I didn’t know it might have been because of the cigarette.
Smoking has the POSSIBILITY of lessening or killing ingredients blood vessels in your taste buds. It is jot at all a 100%, more like a 50/50 based on genetics and how you smoke/how long you hold it in your mouth
*Palate
Or, even more probable, is that even the food critic knows it won't do any more harm and its just another of the pretentious facts Tyler "knows".
XD nice!
My thoughts were "rules for thee, not me".
I can usually taste food fine, cigarette or not, I think I'm very lucky.
Did you catch the fact the restaurant resembled a mausoleum, foreshadowing that people are going to be un-a-lived.
Super
Nice
I always thought that she figured since she was gonna die she might as well start smoking
Yeah but what non-smoker is carrying cigarettes on them regularly?
But Margot had NO IDEA about what the Chef was planning!!! She was a flipping escort that Tyler paid to go with him to the island to attend the event. Tyler had just recently broken up with his girlfriend, whom the Chef was expecting to come with dipshit. Tyler was also aware that he needed a date to just get in to the restaurant: No loners, so to speak. Margot was a desperate move on his part to still be able to get on that island. You see, the people there, about 99% of them, were expected to be there. Margot was an unpleasant and nasty surprise for the Chef and his staff. Not to mention: Tyler knew the whole damn time what was going to happen that night. And he was the only diner privileged to know about it. I don't know if you've seen "The Menu" but definitely watch it. It's wild. One moment you'll be laughing, then jumping in your seat, to yelling out in surprise and screaming in disgust and fear. This movie will screw around with your mind and emotions, you're gonna start question your own sanity at the end of this flick. And I'm not joking. As much as I enjoyed "The Menu" I needed a mental health break. Ye Gods!!!

That doesn’t prove she can’t properly judge just from him saying that though
“Smoking can affect the shape of taste buds and also affect vascularization, or the formation of blood vessels, he says. “Nicotine may cause functional and morphological alterations” of taste buds "without severely affecting their number," Pavlos and colleagues write.” Number one google result if you just looked it up, plus it’s cigarettes, the whole idea is smoke rigged with chemicals covering your tastebuds for long periods of time, its not rocket science to find out that cigarettes affect the way you taste
Yes it literally does also it’s a actual fact wasting anything also ruins your palette cause there’s a taste in your tongue it’s honestly basic commons sense yku can’t get the full taste of something if you still taste something like filling a glass 100% with water is impossible if there’s even a drop of milk cause it can’t be 100 now just like that except a cigarette is a strong taste
If You Ask Me Margot Was Smokin Throughout The Whole Movie
Its s silly thought process anyway. Smoking doesn't always ruin your sense of taste. And if the food is that amazing, it would be amazing through the ruined sense of taste anyway...
it'd taste more bitter. it absolutely fucks up your sense of taste.
@@lmao.3661 Maybe after years, but a little bit isn't that big of a deal. And even then it's not guaranteed.
That why I smoke trees and not leaves. Zaza don’t ruin your palate.
Irrelevant
More likely they had him say cause he's a fraud and only thinks he knows what he's talking about. Dou
