- In this episode of The Simpsons Theory, we look at The Simpsons Series Finale "Bart's Birthday" presented by Conan O'Brien. But is this really the final episode of The Simpsons?
I answer just that, give my thoughts, and look at how it could change The Simpsons FOREVER. From Matt Groening's 1989 First Episode 'Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire', right up until now.

With the closure of The Simpsons Tapped Out, it wouldn't surprise me if they were ending the show. And because they have literally covered everything, it wouldn't shock me if the ACTUAL season finale was at the end of this season.

It’s scary to think that the people who watched the show in the 90s are now the same age as Homer and Marge.
It's crazy when you put it into perspective like that. Like the Simpsons had been around for over 10 years before I was even born and now I'm a full grown adult watching these videos

I love how Tom Hanks actually voiced himself and Danny DeVito actually returned to voice Herb. Not surprised at Cena since he loves voicing and making fun of himself, just look at the Oscars this year.
I normally can’t watch these episodes until they release some Disney+ but some TH-camr was able to upload them and I watched this episode and it was absolutely hilarious

I wanted to leave my two cents on the episode at the cost of sounding derivative
This episode is such a punch in the gut from the show's writers that I'm still caught off guard by how actually far more meta it is compared to its own premise. They've been gradually wrapping up the whole packet since around the last ten seasons now, this episode is just a consequence of a series finally looking back at its legacy and struggling to tell fans that it's time to let go. I still believe it can graciously die on a bittersweet note, like in its sleep. It's genuinely interesting where The Simpsons is heading now in its end of life unbeknownst to most, it really reminds me of why it became a cultural phenomenon in the first place.

A season premiere that is a series “finale” sounds like a joke Conan O’Brien would make and by golly, he went for it.

I love when John Cena pops up as a weird cameo or does a cartoon voice. Loved him in Rise of the TMNT as Draxum (until they recast him in the abrupt second season) and also loved him as Rocksteady in Mutant Mayhem.

There was an historian from the VIII who said "When the Colliseum fall, Rome will fall. And when Rome fall, the World will fall". I'm beginning to think the same about the "fall" of The Simpson 😅

The show needs to end. Its not a quality issue, its a reality issue.
The VAs aren’t young. We’ve lost many of them already. But what are they going to do when one of the main four die? And get mad all you want, but IT WILL HAPPEN.
End the show this season. Make yearly or seasonal specials instead. This allows it continue but gives the fans and the studio the out it needs for when one of the main four is unable to continue for any reason. The fans have a series finale and the studio can keep printing money.
I haven’t watched every new episode, but I’ve watched a few. Some are good and some aren’t. The show could exist indefinitely that way, sure, but only if Disney AIs the voice actors, AND THEY WILL if we let them.
If you AI Homer ad infinitum, them by all means, keep watching and demanding more seasons, because that’s where it leads. Me, i’d rather the actors be allowed to have a grand sense of off and not be digital corpse puppets for eternity.

In Quebec, where the dubbing of the show has reached cult status, that actually happened. We lost the VA playing Homer and the one playing Marge and her family retired a couple of years ago. So yeah, needless to say it got weird...

It would not shock me if the show does end this season and this was a hint to that. The last Ep ever well be a Christmas EP this show started with ine on December 17, 1989 with Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,
Ending with one would them coming full circle plus if this season is full of more call backs it a good hint I think again its over the Tree House EP well be telling,
What more is left to tell, there are over 769 EP as of this writing that us a lot of ep for syndication.
Cool fact: Conan O'Brien went to high school with my aunt. Brookline High in the suburbs of Boston, MA. She said he was a shy and awkrawd teen so to become the world's funniest and most famous man is irony at it's best 😁
Also was shocked to see Selma end up with the "Yesssss!" guy. Thought he was, you know, out loud and proud 😂😂

Also as someone who watched a lot of TGIF, one therapy session solving Homer’s childhood trauma and Marge’s enabling, making them bland good parents, was so funny.
Bart breaking down at the lights turning off got a huge laugh out of me too.

I don’t think this is really the ending. They’re taking the show in a different direction where continuity is taken seriously and there are actually consequences.

This episode was so much fun! All the references were perfect! Pointing out AI for how toxic and stupid it is was just beautifully done and so funny! Really the only thing that I didn’t like and I hope gets a surprise fix later in the season was Danny DeVito as Unckie Herb. I was so beyond thrilled when I found out they were bringing that character back so if this is all that we get to see of him is one line I’m going to be very upset, but I loved it and by the way you weren’t the only one that jumped When the tree cut Homer in half! I literally went WTH just happened! I thought it was just me because cerebral palsy one of the side effects. It makes me jump at everything so I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one! Haha but yeah, the way they use Conan coming back. Everything was just so well done in this episode! Fantastic job by you as always!
Well. It's not surprising, because The Simpsons has been on our screens now for 35 years and it's gone on for too long and the voice actors are getting older and The Simpsons ran out of ideas. If Series 36 is to be the final season, I hope it gets the ending it deserves.

I always figured the show would end with Homer and Marge in bed talking about how Bart became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Lisa became President, and Maggie...not sure, possibly a pop star not unlike Taylor Swift. Then Homer would say something along the lines of: You know, we did a pretty good job. Goodnight Marge, I love you. Goodnight Homer, I love you too. They kiss then you hear a click as the lamp turns off. Roll Credits.
I just finished watching this and…gonna be thinking about this forever. I couldn’t stop laughing, too.
I thought this episode was really funny, but it does mean that when the show really does end in 20XX, I don’t know if they can use any of these concepts for the actual series finale without being accused of repeating themselves, even if this particular episode was mostly a farce.
This might be an unpopular opinion but I kinda liked season 35 I thought it was pretty good.

The Simpsons can’t go away, yet. Like you mentioned, this show was able to provide jobs for many, especially in today’s cut-throat industry. They even challenged themselves to provide fun entertainment for many fans to watch and remember moments nobody can forget.
The Simpsons should never end. It's ridiculous to say it should. Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes, and Tom & Jerry have been around for over 50 years each yet no one brings that up.

I think they missed a joke with this AI episode. They should have given the Simpsons normal hands (four fingers, one thumb) because AI never gets fingers right, and often includes an extra.

This was the first episode Ive seen in about ten seasons after seeing a clip of the smooth animation when Bart calls out Homer on Twitter, and I really enjoyed it. Definitely checking out more episodes from the Matt Selmon era
The noise and the view of Bart pulling out the skateboard from Homer kind of made me sick and that made me laugh
“Yes, the Simpsons have come a long way since an old drunk made humans out of his rabbit characters to pay off his gambling debts. Who knows what adventures they'll have between now and the time the show becomes unprofitable?”

Unfortunately I couldn't find this episode to watch before this review, so I'm going in blind. I can only say what I said about Lisa The Boy Scout: I don't know WTF that was, but I think I liked it. With LTBS I know for sure I liked it, though you two appearing in that one had my expectations high anyway. Considering the hackers were blatantly meant to be you, they should've got in touch with you to do the voice, or at the very least made both hackers British. Who'd they get in the end, Amy Phoeler? She's great, but considering Matt Selman follows you on Elon's place I think we all know that the hackers looking suspiciously familiar was not a coincidence.
Side note: It's great to see the "Smell ya later" sign-off make a triumphant return to the actual videos. I was missing that.
Honestly I think it would be interesting if they ended the show in 10 years but than experimented with other media again. Like video games and comic books. Would love more of those honestly.
