Considering there is 12.9 litres in a bt50 3.2 L manual cooling system, and your only able to drain and replace about 7.5 litres, then you need to allow extra coolant in mix as you said, although for 50% coolant mix equals about 6 litres of concentrate to 1.5 litre of water making 7.5 total. That will then mix with the 5 or so litres in the system making a 50 % ratio of concentrate. Where is that other 5 or so litres, as when i flushed with motor running there was no color of red in the flushed water.
I have mine on a forward tilt with ramps under the rear wheels. I can only pull six litres from my ‘17 3.2 wildtrak. And I’ve tried using a blower to push coolant out. Nothing else comes out.
Appreciate the Ranger uploads as this is my daily driver. Had done the coolant sometime ago due to a leak but appreciate the reference for next time around. Cheers.
Thanks mate, greatly appreciate your videos. They have served me well with my oil change, transmission fluid change, and also diesel filter change. Will be doing the coolant flush and also diff oils for the next service at 110,000kms.
I think I need to define 'Flushing' better. I am not flushing it with running water but refilling the system allowing that to heat up and flow around the system then replacing.
I read saw on the VACC you tube video that the EGR cooler is susceptable to air locks and that it is recommended that refilling the coolant is only done with a vacuum refilling unit and bleeding process else EGR cooler failure is possible?
Vacuum refill is always a better option. However, these 3.2 fill pretty quick and easily and any trapped air is quickly purged. If haven't heard of others having any issues with the EGR after a standard refill (plenty of EGR failures though) It important to monitor the coolant level after the initial refill and you will have no issues. Thanks for the comment, I will pin it to the top
I was looking for a video with some info on replacing the coolant overflow bottle on a BT-50 .Your video is close enough. I was just looking for info on how to bleed the system . From what i can see in your video it looks like it self bleeds all the air back into the bottle. Great video.
So do I understand this correctly? Ford/Volvo have produced an engine that contains 13ltr of coolant in its system BUT its only possible to drain 50% of that? WTF? Is there NO engine block coolant drain plug to drain the other 50%? Friggin FORD!

Glad to help
Thanks man. Just did my Ranger. Confident I have done a good job after watching your video.
Glad it helped!
Your a legend not many good videos on rangers floating around
I have plenty more planned.

Great to hear!
i suggest using distilled water to add to the flushing fluid.
Very helpful tutorial. Please keep uploading 🙌🏾
Is it safe to do the flush more than once if you want better results?
Excellent clip, very informative thanks. I have a 2014 BT50.
cheers
If you put cold water from the garden hose , how is thermostat supposed to stay open for full flushing ?

Glad you liked it!
Thanks once again. Much appreciated. Just did my Everest

Great video.
self bleeds nicely
Is this the same as 3litre 09 model ? Cheers
VERY GOOD my friend, what is the model code for the Autralia Ranger ECU?
Hi mate. Really appreciate your hands on videos. Cheers
You don't remove the thermostat during a flush?
Ideally yes. But with no evidence of corrosion I took a short cut. If the coolant was long overdue and discoloured I definitely would.
Thanks dude now i know..new subscriber here from philippines.
You should use distilled water on the flushing.
You are a legend mate. Thanks really appreciate it
No problem 👍
Very nice tutorial presentation.
At what mileage would you suggest a coolant change, do the oil every 5000 and the transmission at 40000. All filters at 20000. Thanks.
how many liters of coolant added all in all?
How much does a liter of radiator water take?
Very informative 👍
Glad it was helpful!
How to top up my ford ranger 2017 model ,the coolant is at minimum level.Thank you for your advise. Stay safe
Just add and Fill until you reach the F Mark.
Good job!
Thanks to you Mr and very good job
How many liters of coolant did you use? You forgot to mention it buddy
Would you suggest it self bleed or do u give the hoses a small squeeze to despell the air
Squeezing the hose will speed with up.
Can you use bottled water to do the 50\50 mix ?
tap or bottled water would be ok just not ideal.
Greeting from USA nice video
Thanks and G'Day from Australia
Thanks mate. Do u still run the heater when putting new coolant back in
Yes I do
Sorry should have asked what brand of coolant.
I use penrite
Thank you
