For those of you with 2JZ GTE Non-VVTI running on stock ecu and igniter, you will need to connect all 6 IGF from coils with TACH and IGF from igniter. This worked on my North American spec Supra TT6.
Want thank you for sharing this DYW coil on plug content. Also want to address and issue the right way to wire up the igt is coil 1/6 to igt1- coil 2/5 to igt2 and coil 3/4 to igt3 this is for 2jzgte vvti
Dan MC if you are putting a standalone ECU into a car that already has COP they probably suggest to ground the wires out as there is no pin on aftermarket ECU’s to run to. If you are making a COP loom you would not bother spending more time and effort putting in a forth wire that does nothing. Just do it your way though if you’re nervous about that. GTR35 coils and many others don’t even have a forth pin. It is good practice to seal the empty pin in the connecter with a blocker.
Thank you for your videos. They are great. I wont be selling my gte intake manifold. I cant wait to get your parts. Thanks for the info for us poor guys on our diy builds!
This would be a worth while modification to the Aristo 2jzgte VVTI to remove that wasted spark setup and have proper six coil over plug sequential ignition system.
Re the DIY smart coil installation: did I miss where its said what wiring to use? I assume high temperature and at least 1mm conductor but without confirmation I shall never be confident.
Is it the same with the Toyota aristo because I was told the igniter gives the tach and I would have to reroute it to the ecu before my coils would work
Still trying to figure out if this can be done with a 1jz vvti? I believe the coils have a filter by the ignitor next to them which makes this different
does the tach still function on a 1jz gte soarer? digi dash?? Edit. no it does not. ive also tried putting the igf signal into ign- as well and still no rpms :( runs sweet tho :)
Great video! I have purchase the ls2 Lq9 coil kit . My question is I’m running stock ecu/ igniter for my 2jz-gte ? in your video show great installlation. Do you have to remove the factory coil pack wire and after all install ?do you have to plug the igniter back in or no used? Thanks!
Good video ! im currently close to doing my engine build on my na-t. i've been distributor and it did fine actually but i want to go coil on plug but i want to delete the entire distributor setup. I do have a standalone. I was considering going with the GTE oil pump so i can use the GTE crank position sensor on it. Ooohhh, sorry I thought this was regarding the NA-T video, MY BAD.. hmmm technically you could use the distributor trigger and run wasted spark. The vvti should be fine but not as much benefits as turbo application.

Hi, i have a question. I have a 1jzgte non vvti. What exactly are you supposed to do with the original/factory wires/connectors going to the original coils? Cut them out? Depin then from the ecu? Tie them up out of the way? Thanks.
i'm currently converting to LQ9 ls coils on a stock JZA80 ecu. How did you get the tacho to work after deleting the igniter, since the stock igniter has a pin on the four pin connector for tach output.
Mike Pao LS coils can’t run the tacho, you will have to buy some sort of adapter. It is faaaarrr easier to run Toyota coils and they are better. With Toyota coils you simply join all 6 IGF wires from each coil and wire then into the igniter pin as shown in the video. Remember if your car was N/A you need to do the dash cluster tacho mod, the same as if you put a GTE in a GE car. You bridge a small wire on the back of the cluster itself.
@@supravworld8777 So basically to get the tach to work properly, all the six wires coming off the yaris coil IGF pin goes to both IGF and TACH on the four pin connector of the factory igniter.
@Supra vworld, just spent 400 bucks buying Yaris 90919-02240 coils and there is no way they fit on a 2JZGE, they don't fit under the throttle body. You're talking out your arse bud.
