    This goes so far beyond art instruction and technique. It's absolutely priceless to hear your moment by moment commentary and critique as you move through the phases of the painting....value, line, shape, colour, marks. More of this, less of that, refine refine, refine et voila!. Thank you so much Pam. This is gold.

    Pamela, I scan TH-cam every night for interesting painting demos for inspiration and WOW, I am so glad to have found you! Your commentary into your process helped me rethink my own process. I don't have money to take painting courses and although I am sure you didn't intend for this to be a tutorial, it has been one for me. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR GIFT! Keep coloring our world! BTW, I am a new subscriber!

    I agree with Robert William below. What an inspiring video! I appreciate your efforts to share both the painting process and what’s going on inside of you. I love to think of art-especially my own art as a process, but an adventure? How wonderful and fulfilling that thought is. Here we are, so many of us across the world, playing as we work. How privileged we are! But if we are compelled to do this thing called art, then we must do so! What fun and what joy! others who itch to play at art as wel

    I see a laundromat! The circles look like the machines to me. I can see a mother waiting for her clothes to be done, sitting next to her child, who is standing, in the lower left hand corner. I see more people standing doing their laundry in the upper right hand corner. I absolutely love this!

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mikehill8225 Thanks for your comment! I was working wet into wet in some areas, and since this i s a large painting, as I moved around, lots of areas were dry by the time I painted over them. This painting is currently all acrylic but may transition into some cwm/oil after mounted on panel! ;)

    This is a wonderful new approach to your videos! I love it that you are narrating through the whole thing, and I like that we can see the process sped up instead of in real time. Some of your other videos have moments where the sound is completely gone; this is great because we can hear something from you or the music all the time. Your explanations of your process are totally delightful! Please do more videos like this!

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Terri! Thanks for the wonderful feedback - that is very helpful as I decided to try this format out as an option. As much as I "can" talk and paint", there are so many videos that have to be edited down that narrating after the editing seems more streamlined and fun! Thanks for your comment :) Best, Pam

    This is gorgeous and interesting! I've never found someone who explains in detail, your methods and objectives for when you step back to look, then add more. I never have any idea how the artist decides to make the adjustments. THANK YOU for this! I hope you do this on other videos as well. This is what I want to learn. I'm not always familiar with the art terms you use but I have an idea.

    Pamela, I enjoyed your paperwork with hand application of your painting. Your freedom of expression was very evident. I did not realize two painting s side by side. . That's wonderful and then application to your boarding. And apply cold wax to the surface to use as sealant. Also the use of brushes and spatula too. It looks Great! Good colors the middle was good I liked that single thin red line that made area POP! Yes ! That's what it needed. Just something simple. And you did it! So I was happy that happened. Like confirmed my eye approach to reviewing it. I like it NICE! Bold energy and tells a story in it's own way.

      Oh please do! I feel I am a beginner each time I lift a brush or use my hands. Or, I try and do something I haven't done before to ensure I am a beginner! I would love to know how your experiments go - wish we could attach images in these convos - hmm, maybe TH-cam will one day allow it! Would be fun to keep in touch! Best, Pam :)

      @@PamelaCaughey Thank you so much. I've commented on your FAcebook profile 'Pamela Caughey Art'. I'm finishing an oi painting at the moment but I'm imaging a painting in my mind for an acrylic using local street images, so I'll send you images on FB. when I get going with it. Your FB artworks are so inspiring and are enthusing me all the more!!

    I love this technique! I began painting abstracts using soft pastels and my hands, so am very drawn to continuing to use my hands with paints whenever possible. Very inspiring process oriented video emphasizing the gestural aspects, thank you!

      Thanks, Carole! Who ever would have thought all the finger painting we did as a child would resurface later in life?!! :)

    • @CaroleMora22
      @CaroleMora22 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, you're welcome Pam. I love your watching your videos. Yes, I also did finger painting as a child and have fond memories. There is something so direct and primal about using our hands and fingers when making things and painting. Now that I think about this, cave paintings and some hieroglyphics were probably made with the hands.

    Oh, I am just so taken by your work. What mastery, to be able to do "scribbles" and push paint around with your hands in a way that looks like child's play (and it sounds like it feels that way too!) but I just know that it takes years of experience to develop the "eye" and the feel for how to make such a piece of beauty. I know I'm going to try this and be disappointed that I can't immediately create something as beautiful as this - lol! - but the fun will be in the trying, for sure. Thank you for such inspiration and for sharing your thoughts and process!

    This is great! I just started the acrylic class. I’m excited to see what I’ll learn. Your videos are awesome. It’s nice when a teacher says you need to calm this area dow. But to watch you do it and explaining helps so much. I am a visual learner so seeing it happens is important thank you for taking your time to make this.
