Don’t spread false information. When the OEM hitch is installed by Subaru, the hitch (part number L101SSJ001) has a built in metal bar with the same dimensions and this replaces the standalone metal bumper bar (part number L101SSJ000). Looks like you don’t know what you are talking

Exactly this moron doesn't even list part numbers model years etc.... Definitely not a doctor either.

"Don't buy the OEM hitch because when I cut a bunch of parts off it it's a piece of garbage. I definitely know better than the engineers that designed the car."

I just installed the OEM hitch on my 2022 Outback Touring XT, and it has a built in impact bar. Maybe be clear about what year you are looking at, because this doen't look right at all.

If something were to happen causing frame damage due to towing/carrying with a hitch and it's an aftermarket, Subaru could deny a warranty claim.

I'm surprised that there are no comments from subaru service people responding to this. When I talked to their service manager about this for my 2018 Outback he said, stated that there wasn't an issue with the hitch and that it wouldn't compromise my impact bar.

I think that they updated it since the 2014 model year.

Ya, I also have to say - while your installation is creative and smart in terms of making it work - it totally throws out the importance of engineering for safety. By doing what you are doing, you are changing the crumple zones in the event of a collision, thereby making the car less safe. I really would consider removing this video since it neglects to take that into account. Your custom job here really is actually making the car less safe. Having the hitch IN-LINE is very important. Dealership hitches are too expensive. In my area, it costs about $800.

If you have Subaru install the OEM hitch, it’s $550 including labor and it comes with a lifetime warranty. It costs $480 if Uhaul installs one, and $700 if you have Leonard install one.

Apart from not reading the instructions even after having questions to the install... "You are not gonna pull so much". Try crashing for a strength test.

You're making up stuff, with zero knowledge of how the car is built. Subaru uses in-un rails because the unibody frame rails are high strength boron steel. The rear fascia IS NOT. You SHOULD get the OEM hitch, and anything else is a disservice to the viewers.
As a related note, (a) my "little 4 cylinder" easily moves 5,000 pounds - and it's a very heavy Subaru Ascent. And (b) Subarus also came in 6 cylinders (eg: the Outback 3.6r).

what are you blabbering about man!... state the objective up front so everyone knows what you are attempting to accomplish other than you made a mistake and now are chopping the outback unit

The OEM hitch bar is designed to replace the impact bar, I doubt the lawyers would let the engineers do something stupid

Wow, I was considering getting the oem part installed. I wonder if the Subaru service team is removing (throwing away) the bumper support?
And if they allowed to make those types of alterations?

Well, let me say we are sitting at Subaru dealership with 2 outback wilderness. One with OEM hitch and ours with a curt hitch. Our friend with the oem hitch is bending bad. His trailer is only 1500 pounds loaded and ours with the curt hitch that's pulling a 1000 pound trailer loaded is flexing so much that I had to take bumper cover off to retighten bolts. Now we have developed cracks in subframe . Both hitches suck. So leads me to believe bad design on Subaru part on how the hitch mount.
