@@kraken_8funnily humans having free will is the biggest contradiction for god's existence. an omniscient god and human's supposed free will both contradict each other. If god already knows your future that means your fate has been decided when time started. You have no free will

    • @kraken_8
      @kraken_8 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@wualia god knowing your future doesn’t infringe free will. He may know it that doesn’t mean he’ll stop you. I can be free to do something wrong; god knows I’ll do it wrong, but unless God prevents me from actually doing it I’m still free to do it so both actually can simultaneously exist.
Think of it like the British policy of Salutary Neglect. They knew that the American colonists weren’t allowed to trade with other countries besides Britain, and they knew that the Americans did it anyway, but they ignored it and allowed them to do it even though they weren’t supposed to so that it would bring about a greater good in America by allowing the local economy to grow

    • @kraken_8
      @kraken_8 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

@@wualia your argument skips a few steps. Humans have free will, therefore they can commit evil. So god being omniscient means he knows humans do and will do wicked things. This means that god allows evil because he is too weak or because he is himself evil. The problem with this, however, is that a weak god isn’t god so god must not exist if this were the case. And god cannot be evil because by virtue of creating the world he created the concept of goodness; therefore god must be good since the idea of goodness would have to come from god if he exists. However; god can exist if he allows evil for a third reason; to bring about a greater good, like the British with Salutary Neglect. We call this providence. So therefore the argument that free will disproves god is flawed, since it allows for a case in which god can exist which an argument seeking to disprove god should not do.

Yeshua(Jesus) the Christ loves you! Praise YHWH El Shaddai and may He bless you! Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords!
(YHWH - the LORD) (El Shaddai - God Almighty)
To those who haven’t; Repent of your sins and believe on the Adon Jesus the Christ, believe in your heart that He has died for your sins and rose from the tomb on the third day and you shall receive the Holy Spirit of God and He shall dwell within you. You shall be saved. Be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!
      -
Jesus the Christ loves you, praise YHWH our Elohim
      -
Evidence for Jesus Christ’s existence, crucifixion, and disappearance from the tomb (He rose from it):
The Lord Jesus Christ did exist, gathered disciples, and was crucified and went missing from the tomb. To argue about wether He was taken from the grave or rose from it, is an argument a skeptic can make. Because well if you disregard the eye witness testimony of the disciples and there willingness to die for Christ, and humans won’t die for something they know is a lie, when Peter is pinned upside down to that cross, he could have said that it was a fake, but He didn’t because it wasn’t, what care would he have about death in this world if he knew for a fact he had assurance of a life in another, Jesus Christ did rise from the tomb and is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now the evidence for the Lord Jesus Christ’s existence really isn’t hard to find a multitude of non-Christian scholars and historians mention Him within 150 years after the time of His life. One such is Tacitus a Roman historian who reported on emperor nero’s decision to blame the Christians for the fire that had destroyed rome in 64 AD. Tacitus wrote:
“Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome…”
In this Tacitus makes reference to not only Christians, but Christ calling Him Christus and confirming the Gospels going on to say that He suffered the extreme penalty (crucifixion) under the reign of Tiberius and by the sentence of Pontius Pilate, which like I said confirms the Gospels narrative.
Another important source of evidence about Jesus and early Christianity can be found in the letters of Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan. Pliny was the Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. In one of his letters, dated around A.D. 112, he asks Trajan's advice about the appropriate way to conduct legal proceedings against those accused of being Christians. Pliny says that he needed to consult the emperor about this issue because a great multitude of every age, class, and sex stood accused of Christianity. At one point in his letter, Pliny relates some of the information he has learned about these Christians:
“They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind.”
This passage provides a number of interesting insights into the beliefs and practices of early Christians. First, we see that Christians regularly met on a certain fixed day for worship. Second, their worship was directed to Christ, demonstrating that they firmly believed in His divinity. Furthermore, one scholar interprets Pliny's statement that hymns were sung to Christ, "as to a god", as a reference to the rather distinctive fact that, "unlike other gods who were worshipped, Christ was a person who had lived on earth." If this interpretation is correct, Pliny understood that Christians were worshipping an actual historical person as God! Of course, this agrees perfectly with the New Testament doctrine that Jesus was both God and man.
You may have heard of the scholar Flavius Josephus who mentioned James as being the brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, which matches what Paul said calling James “The Lord’s brother” and there is another document that Josephus may have written which goes:
“About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he ... wrought surprising feats.... He was the Christ. When Pilate ...condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared ... restored to life.... And the tribe of Christians ... has ... not disappeared.”
Now it’s up to debate wether this is the entirely original document of what Josephus wrote, or if a Christian had edited it. But regardless he wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ. Wether it was negative or positive like the possible document is. Anyways there are many other statements, documents, letters, and writings of all sorts from the ancient world talking about the Lord Jesus Christ and there is not one question if He was a real person or if He was crucified and went missing from the grave. That is clear as day, He is a real person, was crucified, and went missing from the grave. And He did rise from the grave. And for more evidence of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s the Bible and you see there is no evidence the Bible is corrupted, a lie, created by the Roman government, folktale. It is the recount of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, now wether you want to believe it is up to you. And what profit was there in spreading Christianity, All the early Christian suffered persecution, beatings, and were killed. Another Scholar reported that James the Lord’s Brother was thrown off a building and then stoned to death for spreading the Gospel in Jerusalem. These people went to great lengths even giving their own lives for the Adon Jesus the Christ.

@@animationnation777 This IS a kind of freewill, where you aren't bring forced to do anything, and are making a choice. And if that is free will to you, great 👍 No one is denying this, however.
USUALLY when people are talking about free will however, myself included, they are actually referring to something completely different, and refer to what YOU think of as "free" will as simply will.
The important distinction, is whether you think you would always have made that decision, OR if you were truly free to have chosen OTHERWISE. To me, "choosing" something is a demonstration of "will", and being able to have chosen otherwise is "free" will. Simply having choices, and making a choice, not against your will, is just making a choice....not something anyone who denies free will is saying doesn't happen, unless they specifically define it as making a choice of your own, which some do, yourself included.
My question for that definition of free will would be: Is it free will if you were always going to make that choice?
As far as I can tell, things either happen for a reason, or is random. Or a bit of both. Neither these and any combination thereof leaves no room for "free" will, as in NOT just making "choices" but actually having the actual choice to have chosen otherwise.
If we're making choices, but those choices are for REASONS then there's no free will. And if we make choices for NO reason, randomly, then that's obviously not free will either.

It is our self awareness that is a tool of God, not God himself.
In simple terms, If God didn’t exist, deliberate choices could not exist. Because the universe has order, points to a governor of order. A good analogy for this would be “a wheel means nothing without ground.” Why is r*pe bad? If morality is truely relative, society would crumble. But because there does appear to be absolutely morality, those who are immoral are punished, not just by legality, but also by guilt, remorse, doubts, indifference, judgement, deception, denial, selfishness, ignorance, insecurity and hatred for oneself.
Ben is pointing out the human experience is the best evidence for god, because we are aware of ourselves and have a moral system. As a non religious person this may not make a great deal of sense, philosophers have been debating for thousands of years if absolute morality exists and if so, why do we have free will? God answers these questions with accuracy.

They jump on quickly with ad hominem and asinine debate structures so you’ve got to establish your ground praxeologically and assertively. After you do that, they turtle up and listen to you interjecting with the infamous passive aggressive retort, “Interesting” but you’ve got to hammer them at the beginning and then they’ll roll over and let you scratch their docile subservient bellies with reality. They won’t say they’re wrong but they will say “Interesting” 😂

True free will is just as ignorant to believe in as it would be to believe in anything else. As Ben skimmed over during this discussion, although he did mention it briefly, biology and environmental factors influence the decision making of a person.
True free will doesn't exist, because you really can't control anything in your life. This does not mean, however, that there is a magical, otherworldly, all seeing entity that is watching you and moving you around like a doll in a doll house.
"If you don't control your will, and God doesn't control your will, who controls it?"
Nobody does. Who controls the bears? The ants? The microorganisms? What makes them do what they do? That's right! Their biology and environment.
Believe it or not, you are just an animal. That's all you are. People want to complicate things that seem too simple but when you die, that's it. If it brings you comfort to believe otherwise, that's fine too. The existence of any God is not something that can be disproven, just as how those suffering from psychotic delusions will always have some kind of explanation that they come up with.
Just don't go telling me what I can and cannot do, making my life harder or looking to murder me because I don't follow your beliefs. Too many laws are being passed which ruin the lives of perfectly normal people, all because you and your group are forcing their religion on to other people.

So, Ben starts by bringing up his belief in free will, which implies that he's going to continue by explaining his argument that libertarian free will is evidence for god's existence - but then he immediately starts making a different point that a disbelief in libertarian free will is a nihilistic world view (by saying that if you don't believe in libertarian free will, then you are inherently a nihilist who believes we are "just balls of meat wandering around aimlessly" is a conflation of two different arguments, which Ben does often) and then he just continues this statement by saying "there's a coherence and logic to that" which makes absolutely no sense, and I think he meant to say the opposite. If he said "incoherence" then it would make much more sense. I think he might have just misspoke, which happens to the best of us so I'll just grant him a mistake. Also, I will point out the fact that he just doesn't conclude that statement. He basically said "if you don't believe in free will, then - ...." and he just moves on without concluding his premise. So he just drops the nihilism argument and continues his initial statement on libertarian free will, saying that it "can't be proven by science," which is a totally baseless claim. It's not that it "can't be proven by science," but that all the science we do have just doesn't back it up. Only 18.6% of philosophers believe in libertarian free will, because it's largely rejected but that's not the same as being unprovable by science, as he claims. So apparently, Ben believes in something based on his feelings, rather than the facts. Ironic huh? At this point, Ben's "best argument for God" has been him saying "if you believe in libertarian free will, then you believe in something that is scientifically bankrupt," which... is not even an argument for God, lol. If anything he's just contradicting himself. After that, he brings up the Correspondence Theory of Truth, and then just asserts - with no proof - that god is the basis for all truth. He just... Asserts it. After ALL that talk about free will, he doesn't even conclude his point using the free will argument at all. WHY DID HE EVEN BRING IT UP? lol it makes no sense. The Correspondence Theory of Truth is compatible with all views on free will, even though Ben words his argument as if it isn't. So to recap, Ben's BEST ARGUMENT FOR GOD is that he believes in free will, he conflates nihilism and a lack of belief in libertarian free will, he does NOTHING with those free will arguments, and then just baselessly claims that the existence of objective truth is backed by god. Wow. Basically, he just says a non-sequitur. So there you go, I hope I explained it simply for you!

      You seem to lack understanding.
Confess the Lord Jesus Christ with your mouth and believe in your heart that He died for your sins on the cross and God raised Him from the dead on the third day; repent of your sins and be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!
These people went to great lengths even giving their own lives for the Lord Jesus Christ.

We do things that avoid pain to ourselves and others. We don’t kill people because our society has found it best to exile those who do that. We treat each other with respect because those in our society that respect others (a lot of the time) receive the same respect back. You can’t just say, “there’s no way humans can be moral without god” that’s so dumb. We obviously can. The most moral people I know are secular. Life is complex. There are things we can attribute to god, but eventually we find out that those things weren’t god, but a misunderstood natural phenomena of our world and universe. We can’t say, “god did it” until we have a reason to say that. And I feel like we don’t.

@@smilingjackl I don't think it's a stupid answer at all, but it seemed very short and I did not expect that answer, which is why I never questioned him on it or anything (I was also quite nervous). Funnily enough I was taking a Free Will class when this event happened. Free Will is legitimately a massive problem in Philosophy and has been for thousands of years. I don't think what Ben said is an actual argument, it's just pointing people to the idea that if materialism (Physical matter is all there is) is true we do not have Free Will because everything is just cause and effect and we are completely determined. Most Philosophers are Compatibalists, meaning they are determinists but think that determinism is reconcilable with the existence of Free Will. I personally don't see how that's possible unless you define Free Will as basically just not being coerced (which I think is way too weak) but that is a separate and giant debate. Overall, I think Ben is getting at something important and it has potential to really make materialists think about the implications of their opinion and possibly could be a premise in an argument for God's existence. But it seems like an argument against materialism, not really for God. You can be an Atheist and not be a materialist (though that is certainly not a common opinion imo). So I stand by my comment, it is worth thinking about. Many Atheists are materialists so convincing an Atheist that materialism is not true may open the door to God. BUT he didn't really say what I was looking for tbh. I was looking for a tried and true Theistic argument like the Contingency Argument or a Cosmological argument because I was really wondering which one was his favorite. (sorry for long answer those are the thoughts from a student who is just learning).

the complain comes from 2 reason.
      1. What he is saying is that we can think, thus god exist. (can you actually convince someone with this?)
      2. he literally talks the same thing(as point 1) over and over again for 2 mins, just with different words.

And sometimes this part of your brain allows you to overcome and deny natural instincts when necessary because it can predict and process what might happen if you don’t do something so it forces you to do it out of natural survival instinct. The reason most other animals don’t have this ability is because they’re brains can’t process as quick and think as far ahead as our brains do. I mean... If you really think about it "free will" doesn't actually exist. Our choices are based on our internal moral compass which is formed from our sensory input, what leads us to harm or pleasure, and the longer we live the more complex that moral compass can get. That's baked into our biology, so really our will isn't free, we just think it is because we are the ones going through our own biological moral checklist when we make choices

For those who don’t understand he is saying…if you have the ability to choose how to live in a way apart from the natural biological way of living, there is something in your consciousness apart from just science and nature. Hence something like "god".

The idea that we have free will, disproves God. If God is sovereign, and I can choose to disobey. Then God is not sovereign. If God is not sovereign then the whole thing falls apart.

God exists because farts exist. If you can fart, it means that you're alive, and you're alive because you eat to survive, if you're alive and you can eat and then fart? Then that's the holy trinity right there and proof of god existence.

And yet here you are, making a statement that is baseless and unsubstantiated.
Your original comment has nothing of substance or value to it, as it's just an assertion alone, devoid of the evidence you think exists without brining up one shred of good credible evidence that supports your conclusion.

This is so wrong it’s actually insane. You can prove this wrong by looking at your dog. A dog has biological urges that can literally be trained out of them. You can TRAIN a dog to not do things such as hump, bite, kill, etc. Society made this possible in humans. We were trained to see that we are not our urges, and can have control over them. It’s simple logic.
