It’s awesome! Its rare to find people just seeking the truth than defending their world view at all cost. It takes a humble heart to accept the idea they may be truly wrong and admit it when they are.

Most kids will stand up confident that they are going to prove all the churchgoers and Bible thumpers wrong then when they argue as far as they can and all of their points are matched they get mad and stomp off. I love the look in an atheists eyes when they have no more ground to fight but proof of God steadily builds up.

    • @rizdekd3912
      @rizdekd3912 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@chiefsteps-in-poo8447 They shouldn't do that...stand up confidently and try to prove all churchgoers and Bible thumpers are wrong. But their problem is not that they're points are all matched but that they've not thought through their worldview. The existence of a god doesn't really solves the dilemma of morality many think it does and they know that intuitively but can't articulate it. If there is a god, then it might be the basis for morality and existence, but if there isn't then it's not. Explaining why humans (and other animals) think morally is no more difficult than explaining why God or gods think morally. If you can explain why God thinks morally, I can explain why humans (and other animals) think morally without the existence of God.

THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God saves man from the destruction of this old world"
(The Bible is also called the Old and New Testaments. Do you know what "testament" refers to? The "testament" in the Old Testament is from Jehovah's agreement with the people of Israel when He killed the Egyptians and deliver the Israelites from Pharaoh. Jehovah killed the firstborn males of Egypt and all the firstborn livestock, and He saved all the Israelites, which means all the people in the land of Israel were favored by Jehovah, and all will be saved; He wanted to do a lasting work with them, and established the covenant with them with the blood of the lamb. From then on, Jehovah would not kill the Israelites, and said that they were His elect forever. The covenant Jehovah's covenant is unchangeable, because it was fulfilled in blood, and established in His chosen people. The New Testament is named from the shedding of Jesus' blood on the cross and His covenant with all who believe in Him. The covenant of Jesus is this: People need only believe in Him to have their sins forgiven because of the shedding of His blood, and thus they will be saved, and be born again through Him, and no longer be sinners; people only need to believe in Him to receive His grace, and will not suffer in hell after they die. So, these books are also named from an agreement: They are called the New Testament. These two covenants cover only the Age of Law and the Age of Grace, and have nothing to do with the latter age.)
      Almighty God said
The BIBLE is also CALLED the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT. Do you KNOW WHAT "testament" MEANS? The "testament" in the OLD TESTAMENT is from JEHOVAH's agreement with the PEOPLE of ISRAEL when He KILLED the EGYPTIANS and SAVED the ISRAELITES from PHARAOH. Of course, the PROOF of this COVENANT is the BLOOD OF THE LAMB WHICH WAS APPLIED ABOVE THE DOORS, THROUGH WHICH GOD ESTABLISHED THE COVENANT WITH MAN, WHEREAS EVERYONE WITH THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB ON THE TOP AND SIDES WAS SAID of the GATE are ISRAELITES, they are the CHOSEN PEOPLE of GOD, and they ALL will be SAVED by JEHOVAH (because Jehovah will then kill all the firstborn males of Egypt and firstborn sheep and cattle).
This AGREEMENT has TWO levels of DEFINITION. Jehovah will spare neither the people nor the livestock of Egypt; He will kill all their firstborn males and firstborn sheep and cattle.
So, in many BOOKS of PROPHECY it was FORETELLED that the Egyptians would be severely chastised as a result of JEHOVAH'S COVENANT. This is the FIRST LEVEL of DEFINITION OF AGREEMENT. ☀️
JEHOVAH KILLED the FIRST BORN MEN of EGYPT and ALL the FIRST BORN PETS, and He SAVED ALL the ISRAELITES, WHICH MEANS ALL the PEOPLE in the LAND of ISRAEL was REJECTED BY JEHOVAH, AND ALL WILL BE SAVED; He WANTED to do a PERMANENT WORK with them, and ESTABLISHED the COVENANT with them USING the BLOOD of the LAMB. 🙏
BEGINNING, JEHOVAH WOULD NOT KILL the ISRAELITES, and SAID they were His CHOSEN ONES FOREVER. ☀️🙏
FROM thevTWELVE TRIBES of ISRAEL, He WILL BEGIN His WORK throughout the AGE of LAW, He WILL LAY OUT His LAW to the ISRAELITES, and WILL SELECT PROPHETS and JUDGES FROM THEM, and THEY WILL be the CENTER of His WORK. 🙏
JEHOVAH has MADE A AGREEMENT with THEM: UNLESS the TIMES CHANGE, He WILL ONLY WORK in the MIDST of the ELECTED. JEHOVAH'S COVENANT DOES NOT CHANGE, because IT WAS FULFILLED in BLOOD, and ESTABLISHED eith His CHOSEN PEOPLE. 🙏💐
Furthermore, He CHOOSES an APPROPRIATE scope and purpose to be the SOURCE of His WORK for ALL AGE, and thus the people of the PEOPLE SEE CONGRESSION all the more IMPORTANT. This is the SECOND level of DEFINITION of AGREEMENT. ☀️
With the exception of Genesis, which predates the establishment of the covenant, all other Old Testament books record God's work among the Israelites after the establishment of the covenant. Of course, there are occasional accounts of Gentiles, but in general, the Old Testament records God's work in Israel. Because of JEHOVAH'S AGREEMENT with the ISRAELITES, the BOOKS written in the AGE of the LAW are CALLED the OLD TESTAMENT.
THESE are NAMED from JEHOVAH'S AGREEMENT with the ISRAELITES. 💐
The NEW COVENANT is NAMED from the SHEDDING of JESUS' BLOOD on the CROSS and His AGREEMENT with ALL WHO BELIEVE in Him. JESUS' AGREEMENT is THIS: PEOPLE ONLY NEED to BELIEVE in Him to HAVE THEIR SINS FORGIVED because of the SHEDDING of His BLOOD, and THEN THEY WILL BE SAVED, and BE BORN THROUGH HIM, and will NOT be SINNERS; PEOPLE just NEED to BELIEVE in Him to RECEIVE His GRACE, and NOT SUFFER in HELL AFTER THEY DIE. ☀️💐🙏
All the BOOKS WRITTEN in the AGE of GRACE CAME AFTER this AGREEMENT, and ALL of them STATE the WORK and SAYINGS CONTAINED in it. They do not exceed the salvation of the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus or the agreement; these are all books written by brothers in the Lord who had experiences.
THEREFORE, THESE BOOKS ARE ALSO NAMED FROM an AGREEMENT: THEY ARE CALLED the NEW TESTAMENT. 🙏
These TWO COVENANTS only cover the AGE of LAW and the AGE of GRACE, and have NOTHING to DO WITH the LAST AGE. Therefore the BIBLE is of NO GREAT USE to PEOPLE TODAY in the LAST DAYS. ☀️
It can only be said that it serves as a temporary reference, but it's really not worth much to use. However, this is still the most careful--careful of religious people. They don't know the Bible; they only know how to explain the Bible, but are unaware of its origins. Their attitude towards the Bible is: Everything in the Bible is correct, it contains no inaccuracies or errors. Since they have already decided that the Bible is correct and without error, they study and analyze it with great interest.☀️
The present stage of work was not prophesied in the Bible.
The WORK of CONQUERING the DARKEST PLACE is NEVER MENTIONED, because it is the NEWEST WORK. Because the AGE of WORK is DIFFERENT, even Jesus Himself did not know that this stage of work would be done in the last days----then how can the people of the last days find this stage of work in the Bible by examining it? 🙏
      From "About the Bible (2)"

Now, a very important part of that is the “came to be”. God exists outside the physical universe (He is metaphysical), and He is eternal. Therefore, He never came to be, but rather, He has always existed without time, space, and matter (the things that came into existence at the point of the Big Bang). In this case, that would be the manufacturer of the phone. Another example would be the universe itself. The universe came to be, so something must have caused it to exist. Nothing has ever come into existence without something (or someone) causing it to come into existence. The Law of Causality is known as a “self-evident truth”, as it is clear and obvious in every day life. We see things all the time, and each and every one of those things has something that caused it. Nathaniel: "Humans are inherently altruistic."
    .
I want to ask him if he's ever raised children. Little kids are not altruistic by nature, and they do not become that way unless and until they are taught. Perhaps around age 3 or so, we begin to think in terms of other people's feelings.
    .
I would also challenge him to take his philosophy to a nation that doesn't have plenty of resources to provide all our needs and many of our wants. The reason many (but hardly most or all) people in America are "nice" to each other is we aren't scraping to survive. When you end up with shortages of basic goods and services, our real nature comes out. We almost always seek our own good for ourselves and those in "our tribe" before we give two craps for the person who is outside our group.
    .
If you don't believe me, then I'd ask why many people in the USA live in single family houses worth $250,000 or more and we have food we throw away by the pound while people in Africa starve in huts made of mud.
    .
The young man may push himself to learn more. Glad to see a decent discussion on important topics done respectfully.

Children don't need to be "taught" altruism. Children younger than 3 or so lack empathy because they lack theory of mind, not because they are just naturally evil creatures... Once a child reaches the age where they can comprehend that other humans are conscious creatures with the capacity to have experiences and feelings, they virtually all begin to naturally show care and concern for the well-being of others...ask any psychologist.
Yes, we do all tend to put our own needs and desires above those of others but that doesn't mean we can't still be cooperative and civil. Self-preservation and altruism are not mutually exclusive. The fact that some countries are much poorer than others isn't really relevant to this...

You can also argue that being moral and good creates stability and greater chances of survival with lower risk to the individual. It is perhaps the case that religion and its doctrines created by man claiming divine influence is a strategy to create a much larger collaborative and safe tribe where the individual is or sub group is less under threat. However religion, or religious followers across history also have a very deep history of oppression over those who do not comply with their particular belief systems, because they don’t fit into the “framework” of a particular “belief system / group” they are considered a threat and historically removed. Similar with cultural group bias. Why does a white pizza driver get beaten by young black poor youths when entering their space, because he is seen as an outsider to their group / tribe mentality, and is excommunicated with a beating from their culture and identity which is at that point their group religion.

That's not true. Yes, you won't be held accountable for anything past your own life (assuming that _no_ god is real and dead is dead, of course). But you'd still be accountable to other people in your actual life. And that's not just when it comes to laws, either.
We're social animals, after all. We survive, or not, in groups. We thrive, or not, in groups. Most of us care about other people, and our actions have consequences. _My_ actions - as an atheist - have consequences. Our laws are _part_ of that, of course, but only a small part.
But yes, I'm retired, so I do what I want, whenever I want. So what? True, I don't go to church on Sunday - or any other day of the week. Other than that, what do I do that's a problem?
_However, should I be wrong and there is a just God and I have to stand before the judgement seat and be accountable for all the deeds I've done in my life, it would be utterly foolish to have ignored the word of God._
OK. Then why _do_ you ignore the "word of God"? (I'm going to ignore that whole "just God" thing, assuming that you're still talking about the god of the Bible, despite that.)
Do you kill your neighbors for picking up sticks on the weekend? Do you murder homosexuals, heretics, and 'witches,' as your Bible commands? Do you stone to death disobedient children? Do you buy your slaves from -Africa- foreign lands? Do you burn women alive for having sex outside of marriage? Alternately, have you sold _everything you own_ and given it to the poor?
In reality, you ignore what the Bible says just as much as I do. I'm confident that you're more moral than the Bible and more moral than past Christians. The Bible hasn't changed. But secular morality has changed and dragged Christians - often kicking and screaming - along with it.
(To be fair, since Christians can't even agree with _other Christians_ about much of anything, let alone with the other faith-based people in the world, Christians were almost always on both sides. But any opposition to progress is almost always religious.)
In reality, I'm more moral than the average Christian - certainly than right-wing Christians! But even though I don't know you, I'm confident that you're more moral than your Bible. You'd be a monster if you weren't.
Of course, I'm sure you've got plenty of excuses. Christians have had two thousand years to develop rationalizations, just like other religions. (Do you ever talk to Muslims?) And excuses are almost as easy as claims.
So, yes, let's look at those two scenarios. Let's look at our prisons, for example. In America, our prisons are filled with theists, not atheists. And look at nations worldwide. Google "the most religious countries" and "the least religious countries." Where would you rather live?
The lists vary, because there are different ways of calculating that. (I've seen Israel on both lists.) But _in general,_ which lists contain the best countries to live and which the worst countries?
It's the more secular countries which tend to be the best - not always, certainly (I wouldn't want to live in China), but that's the clear majority. Why is that? This is _your_ comparison, after all. But the evidence doesn't seem to back you up.
_If the former is true it wouldn't matter what happens next but if there is a minuscule chance the latter is true I would be risking eternity on a gamble._
No, this isn't true, either, I'm afraid. You're assuming that the choices are between atheism and your particular brand of Christianity. But that's not true. After all, do you bow down towards Mecca and pray to Allah five times a day, just because you don't want to risk eternity on even a minuscule chance? I doubt it,... unless you were _raised_ Muslim, at least.
I appreciate the reply, but I care about the truth. I _care_ about the _truth_ of my beliefs. And evidence is how we distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking. (It's also how we'd distinguish a _real_ god and a _true_ religion from all of the fake ones in the world. Your method of just... guessing isn't going to do that.)
So, how about one piece of good evidence, specific enough and in enough detail that I can judge it for myself, that your god is real, rather than just imaginary? Just *one,* please - for now, at least. Why is *one* too much to ask?
Alternately, since you seem to be a Christian, I'd accept *one piece of good evidence* that _any_ of the magical/supernatural stories in the Bible actually happened. Your choice. And I will _give_ you a guy named Jesus who was crucified by the Romans.
After all, if you have *nothing* distinguishable from wishful-thinking, then you have nothing distinguishable from Islam, Hinduism, or any other religion, either. So, again, why is *one* too much to ask?

You cannot out psychologize the Bible for God not to throw you into hell for all eternity. In other words, you cannot come up with a good enough excuse here and now, so you will not be able to on judgment day. If you say you did not want to be born, God is going to say you should’ve been born again, that means become a Christian so that’s not gonna work. And there are no other excuses try to think of one. So now you know for the first time in your life, that the Bible is smarter than you and it is a steel trap, smarter than all of mankind, What should you do then? So at least investigate and look to see that these things are true, because right now you just learned the Bible is smarter than you, and you will be accountable for your life on judgment day before God!
Prophecy, the Bible is 27% prophecy, that’s future history written in advance. God‘s really sticking his neck out to get it cut off if he’s wrong, but he hasn’t been wrong about the thousands of prophecies that were fulfilled, so he’ll be right about the end of the world prophecies as well and you’ll have no excuse on judgment day for not looking for truth!
Caveat: you cannot look for God in times of chaos says Isaiah 45:19, so you better do it now. In other words,You’ll be too worried about your own survival when chaos hits, than your eternal destiny!
Statistic probability of 40 writers writing the Bible with zero margin of deviation, proves God wrote the Bible through the 40 writers!
      God authored the Bible!
DNA does not auto encrypt, the code writer is outside of the code of the 3300000,000,000 lines of computer code in the human genome of our DNA! So who wrote the code to such sophistication?
1,000,000 seconds is 12 days, 1,000,000,000 seconds is 32 years! That’s the difference between 1 million and 1 billion!
One person’s DNA could fill the Grand Canyon up to 50 times full of books. John 21:25 “I suppose everything Jesus did, the world wouldn’t have enough room for the books telling of it.“ this verse would be fulfilled!
Psalm 139:16 “in my members you have written many books“!

Hello, my friend. There is only so far one can go with a strictly intellectual agreement with the facts of the Christian worldview. Ultimately, the only thing that will drive a person to seek Christ is to A) realize and believe that your immorality is offensive to a Holy and Just God; B) recognize that God owes you punishment for your immorality, this punishment being eternal separation from God and all that is truly good (which is what we call Hell); C) that it would be unjust for God to give you anything but the punishment you have earned; D) and to fear that punishment to the point at which you would be willing to repent and call on God to change your heart and mind to come into conformity with his will.
The term "gospel" literally means "good news." Reading what I wrote above surely sounds like bad news! To admit,, "I am a sinner; God is holy and just; I deserve eternal torment in hell for rebelling against a holy and just God," is bad news indeed.
So, what's the Good News? The good news is that, while God is totally just and will not sweep sins under the rug, he is also Merciful! God wants to have people in heaven with him -- that's why he made us in the first place. But sin has come between him and us. Since there is nothing we can do to avoid God's justice, God himself did the unthinkable -- he became a man, lived a perfect, holy and just life, and then suffered and died on a cross to take the punishment due to sinners upon himself. In his hours on the cross, Jesus took the sins of the world upon himself and suffered his Father's wrath in our place.
If you were guilty of a crime and you owed a fine that you couldn't pay, and if someone else said, "I'll pay his fine for him," (and did so), then you would be free to go; there is no injustice -- the fine is paid, the debt is satisfied. You are a free man because someone else took your punishment.
That's what Jesus did for all who put their faith in him. *A*dmit that you are immoral and owe God a death; *B*elieve that Jesus died on the cross for YOUR sins; *C*onfess it to the world; *D*isplay it in your life from this day forward. The C and the D are lifelong activities.
This is the gospel, the good news! You don't have to suffer eternally in hell. Believe in Jesus and experience God's salvation. Find a Bible-believing church in your area and start attending. Blessing to you! I hope to see you in heaven.

A "FACT" is a point of data that is objectively verifiable ( demonstrable ) Absent "Facts" one has only the opinion or guesswork and no justification to claim such knowledge.
Science has all the FACTS yet claims nothing as "absolute" truth. Christianity conversely claims absolute truth in everything yet has no FACTS 😜

This was beautiful to watch and reminds me of my own lifelong journey from trying to figure out reason for believing in God to believing in Him myself.
The biggest reason being that over the last decade or so, but with a focus on the last few years, easily witnessing the rapid degradation of society all around us and seeing the evil and ugly coming out of people, meanwhile looking at the natural world and all of its beauty and wonder - seeing these two juxtaposed, and understanding that *if* such evil can exist right in front of our eyes, so too, can such good. And if not God, then who?
The other reason being my husband bringing me closer to God in understanding that I was made for him and he for me, and to be Made demands a Maker and if not God, again, then who?
    Wonderful video. ❤️

This is one of the few times that someone's mind changing doesn't actually make them look stupid. Even when his logic is compromised, he still is able to articulate WHY it may be that way and then leans more into finding the truths behind what is making his logic untenable.

Changing your mind in the face of new evidence/argument never makes you look stupid. It may FEEL like you’re stupid, but as you can see in the comment section, people respect the ability to adapt to new information when it’s so easy to get stuck in our own beliefs.
Pride may prevent it, but it’s always good to remember that we have MUCH more to learn, no matter who we are, and others have MUCH more to teach us than we might expect.
So approaching every conversation with the expectation that you’ll learn something is a good default, although it means you’ll be changing your mind, perhaps in little ways, often enough.

It is true...they don't understand. Altruism is sometimes natural and voluntary as when someone without thinking (intuitively) exposes themselves to danger for another, but generally moral behavior is taught and then enforced from the outside rather than being voluntarily and happily exhibited. The foundation is that each person in society knows how they want to be treated and they have a strong reaction to mistreatment. I think that's because the human gene pool had to have developed to produce individuals like that or it would not have survived. IOW, morality and moral thinking is an adaptation. Collectively, society develops standards, norms and laws on how each member should act and then enforces it. The fact that most people, but the time they're in college or before, have adopted those standards through various means makes them think they're just intuitive and voluntary. But really they were taught by parents, teachers, neighbors, the community and society at large.

and if they have, then they did not understand it, which is typical. Double standards are the bread and butter of Christian ideology.

    • @rizdekd3912
      @rizdekd3912 ปีที่แล้ว

@@MalcolmCir I think altruism was a necessary part of the survival of the human gene pool. It is probably closely related to the protective nature parents and even the extended tribe have for young tribe members. You can see it in other species...where herding species and some birds will sound alarms/signals when predators are detected. The gene pool survived better if some individuals were wiling to risk their personal survival for other members of the tribe.

  • @BrianWright-mi3lc

Nathaniel's initial argument was likely highly influenced by his own subjective experience. Someone who has suffered abuse would likely not come to the same conclusion that "humans are naturally altruistic" but the opposite "humans are naturally cruel". Whether either of those statements is true or close to being true matters less in this context than whether or not they are actually objective in any way. Nathaniel is basing his argument on subjective experience rather than seeking to ground it in something external which I think is the root problem.
And if Stalin would have the initial urge not to, why would he overcome it to do something evil? And if it can be overcome, can it be said that we actually possess this altruism ourselves?
Frank handled it super well - I like how he off-ramped toward objective morality quickly - and Nathaniel had an open mind which is just awesome. He's on a real truth quest.

    • @UgliestManOnEarth-69

      @BrianWright-mi3lc ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@UgliestManOnEarth-69 So to actually answer your question, take Frank's argument: that there is an objective morality external to us and irrespective of our subjective experience. In other words, there is a moral standard that is founded in God himself. Frank is saying that morals exist outside of us and that is one of his arguments for God's existence.

    • @UgliestManOnEarth-69
      @UgliestManOnEarth-69 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @BrianWright-mi3lc
      @BrianWright-mi3lc ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@UgliestManOnEarth-69 To be clear, I'm not making an argument here myself, I'm just weighing Nathaniel's argument (rather the basis of it) against Frank's. Frank isn't arguing from scripture. He's arguing philosophically. I could be wrong but I think the argument is: Premise 1: If God does not exist, then objective moral values and duties do not exist.
Premise 2: Objective moral values and duties do exist.
      Conclusion: Therefore, God exists.
Frank here is asserting a contingency between God and morality. He's not using scripture at all to make the argument. He's also not commenting on the nature of morality, simply that it exists and that it appears to be a relatively uniform phenomenon across cultures (humans are really the only ones who can experience morality in the first place - that we know of). But this argument is ontological, not epistemological (in this particular context).

Anyone with a toddler knows we are not inherently altruistic... they bite, they throw tantrums when you make them share, and they don't need to learn this by watching their parents. They all just do this and need to be taught NOT to do this. They need to be socialized to behave properly with others - in every culture. Child psychologists and developmentalists say if you don't socialize your child by age 3 and they don't have siblings to socialize them already, they're in big trouble because they will likely not know how to socialize well with others for the rest of their life.
