*NEW VIDEO: PROACTIVE V. REACTIVE TASKS!* I made a video explaining it a little more clearly! th-cam.com/video/t2Snl1IHrTA/w-d-xo.html | Thank you so much for your comments below telling me to make this deep dive video! Your feedback is making me so much better a teacher! xo

I think proactive are long term and reactive are jhs short things done for a while to fix sth.

There’s one thing that really inspired me in this video. You use the word “desire” instead of goals, dreams, bla bla. I’ve watched so much similar videos but nobody used the word “desire”. I found it artificial and not so easy to come up goals and dreams, but when I think of desire, they come out so easily. Also, much more true to me.

I totally relate! Isn’t it so crazy how the smallest shift can open your mind so much more? That’s very intuitive of you!

I look at the Brain Dump as the 1,000 steps in my journey. The planning with the Eisenhower matrix helps me choose which step to make first. It might be "Sort through the 50 boxes in the garage." The matrix will say, "Schedule 30 minutes each day to sort through 3 boxes in the garage." I have 3 "Brain Dumps" to make for 3 parts of my life, so now it will be easier to take each step each day. As someone once said, "An hour of work on a mess is an hour of work on a mess." Thank you for this video (and the one that came before). It will help me set my "agenda" for planning for each week. Now I just have to do it.

PROACTIVE VS. REACTIVE TASKS! A (hopefully better) explanation:
Proactive tasks are things that you need to do that directly contribute to making your goals happen.
Reactive tasks are things that usually hold you back in your individual situation. They tend to sound like excuses.
Reactive tasks could be inspired by negative thoughts such as:
“I don’t have enough help with my kid to focus on my dreams.”
    Or
“People come into my office and bother me too much, preventing me from real focus.”
    Or
“I always get thrown off when something changes in my schedule and I don’t know what to do next.”
When you have your “reasons” why things don’t get done, coming up with the tasks that help you solve for those reactive moments will help your plans get executed a little more effectively.
Is this helpful? Should we do a video of this all on its own? Would love your thoughts!

things I found helpful and could help improve this method through out the video:
1: at desires I recommend putting a time limit before you write them down parts like month ,weeks and years
example I want organize my room and make it stay that way I give my self a week at first to see how its going if it went good ill go 1 month then ill bump its to 2 months if it goes wrong ill bump back down etc.
2: again at desires I recommend not crossing them out put setting them for after you complete the goal
3: at brains dump is a helpful way for people who don't know how to express there emotions or dump their brain like me I recommend to take time and really think about what you can do if its still hard I recommend dividing the 3 goals and doing it separately try having at least 3 pro and 3 re for every goal
4: I found the matrix the most helpful of the steps it lets you continue to organize your thoughts and find different way to pic your brain
if you need help like I did just reply to my comment and ill help with a solution to organizing and motivational

Amy Landino, you are the funniest lady. I am only 1.28 mins into this video & it looks like you are not only going to be entertaining but provide value as well. I’m not a newbie to business but I am a newbie to getting all stuck in my own “business”. I love it when the Universe provides us with exactly what we need when it’s really important. I have put aside October for a full review of 2023, what still needs to get done for the year to finish on a high & mapping for 2024. I have started mapping all of this out of my head but felt a little cluttered & fuzzy. I had just finished journaling this morning & doing some Innercising on Procrastination when up popped an iPhone Photography notification. 😮 When I clicked on it 😮“distraction”😊 it didn’t land so I went looking for it & found an attractive image (your video - “distraction”) 😂 but it turned out to be a good distraction. I’m looking forward to keeping in touch some more. 🎉❤

I have to thank you so much for this. I've gotten really skeptical about a lot of organization, self improvement, planning methods over the years, but the M.A.P. format flipped a switch in me like nothing else ever has. I always felt (and still feel, really) like I've got SO much to do, so much to accomplish and its all overwhelming because I could never prioritize or focus on any one thing, so it all felt urgent and it was paralyzing to the point of not doing anything at all. You really helped me get it all down, narrow my focus to the top 3 most important things and really gun it. I've made leaps and bounds over the last year and into 2024 that I've been stalled out on for almost a decade now. Thank you so much, Amy.

Daycare is not strangers, kids get to know and love their daycare providers! Each kid is different and full time daycare works super well for a lot of families. I understand if it didn't work for you but I wouldn't assume it'll be the same for others.

@@lizeeveeI’m not even a parent and I would avoid day care as much as possible because of all the true crime I watch and all the evil workers who are day care workers. You just never know. Same fear with nursing homes! lol

    • @Lauren-i8i
      @Lauren-i8i ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@lizeeveeMy daughter works at the top daycare in our area (rated 5 stars.) The workers more often than not ignore the children and stand in groups talking, (My daughter is the only one paying attention to them. One day 19 little ones tried to hug her and she almost fell over.)
      Kids call her ‘Mommy.’
If she wasn’t there the kids would largely be ignored by the workers.
The one time workers show up is to demand the kids look like they’re doing crafts even when they’re special needs & don’t want to. They don’t care how upset they get while they set up the pictures for the website.
Daycare is a revolving door of changing faces so be prepared once your kid is attached - they usually leave due to low pay and / or hating their job.
No one will ever love your kid like you do. If you were a child and scraped your knee, would you rather run to your Mommy or a daycare provider?

Hi! No problem I wish I explained it a little better for you. Basically the reactive column is to help you think of the things that tend to hold you back in your individual situation that usually sound like excuses. Like:
“I don’t have enough help with my kid.”
      Or
“People come into my office and bother me too much for me to focus.”
      Or
“I always get thrown off when something changes in my schedule and I don’t know what to do next.”
      Or something like that.
When you have your “reasons” why things don’t get done, coming up with the tasks that help you solve for those reactive moments will help your plans get executed a little more effectively. Is that more helpful?

I look at reactive as things that you have to respond to, as things come up, the lead was initiated from someone/something else, whereas proactive are things that you are choosing to do, you are taking the lead on or initiating, trying to get ahead of or prevent or start something.

Girl I SO needed this! I’m in the middle of taking several classes for a pretty massive career change, all while working full time and taking care of the household (Which is almost a full time job in itself 😂). This was so so helpful, thank you ❤

My Time Management is pretty bad, so this video was great! Would love to see even more content on structuring your days. What’s your advice to someone spending too much time on entertainment? I know “spend less time on it” would be common sense, but it’s almost like an addiction to binge 3-4 hours of TH-cam per night.

Amy, this is the video I needed! Thank you! I realized as I was narrowing my list to three that if I accomplish those three the others that I crossed out could be more easily accomplished. Thank you for helping me gain that vision!

Yes! I realised that too! If we become the people who can and do achieve our 3 chosen goals, that leads naturally on to some of our other goals! Oh, it's a beautiful thing!

This is so neurodivergent friendly. For someone who struggles with figuring out how to mentally attack challenges this strategy really gets right at the uncertainty that usually makes me tend to procrastinate. Bujo has failed me so this looks super promising! Thanks so much!

I hate the Eisenhower matrix. I have a really hard time determining which quadrant to put things. I don't think I can differentiate between urgent and important very well. My inclination is that everything should be in quadrant 1, but I know that some things have to go in the other quadrants, so I will put some things in the other quadrants, even though my true self would put them in quadrant 1 (maybe quadrant 2). I never feel like I do this exercise "correctly" (read: perfectly) which makes me feel like a failure before I even start. However, I did take away from the video the importance of prioritization. I'm going to try a day-by-day approach. Each morning I'll choose one thing I need to get done (apart from the daily things that always need to be done, like feed the children). I've already chosen my priority thing for today. Wish me luck!
