OP opened by saying they appreciated the technical info so that means there's at least one person besides Erica who cares. They were trying to say that no other video makers gave that level of detail, not that nobody cares about it.
vomitoriumbassist Yes, you now have about 13 years of games open to you that you didn't before but the 3DS is backwards compatible only. That does not make it a DS any more than a DS was a Game Boy for being able to play Game Boy games. DS family systems have not been manufactured for years. Also, "New" is part of the name. No such thing as a 2DS XL exists for you to possibly have one.
Just be careful when buying games off eBay, and make sure they have actual photos of the game with the complete boxes as original DS games are now easy to bootleg, and games like "NEW" Super Mario Bros, & Super Princess Peach are some of the most bootlegged ones out there also Giana Sisters DS also goes for a nice chunk of change, and is a commonly bootlegged version as the US release had a really really small print run, and I've yet to find a complete legit US copy going for less then $75, but do have fun catching up on all the DS/3DS hidden gems. :-)

I actually love the 2ds Xl because I don't feel like it will just drop out of my hand because of the weight of the top, the cartridge slot is covered so I won't have an issue of ejecting my game by accident, I never use 3D, the top screen to me looks so much better, I love how when it's closed it has the Black and then a coloured border, I also like how the sound is lower because this means I can play my games and not distract my family since I like the sound dial high up, (I don't know why) and the Overall look to me is amazing

I did SO much research on the New 3DS and 2DS lines over the past few days. Settled on the New 2DS XL because I mainly want to play Pokemon/old school Pokemon so didn't see much point in getting 3D for just a few games. Also I get headaches pretty easily so 3D probably isn't the greatest of ideas for me! I literally JUST ordered it (and a copy of Pokemon Ultra Sun). Can't wait!! Just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos. In my research your videos were the most straightforward, knowlegable and interesting! Also, women in tech 👊😎

If you don't care about 3D then with a grip case/handle to make it more comfortable for longer playtimes the "NEW" 2DS XL is seriously the best designed 2DS/3DS Nintendo has done in my opinion with the exception of the short stylus, plus it's at a good price point as well. having said that I would not give to a younger child and would give them a normal 2DS.
I also used to get cramps playing handhelds. Even going back to when I had the OG GBA, I remember my hands getting numb after just playing for like 30 mins, really annoying, especially when it happens on boss fights or when you couldn't pause. When I recently got back into handhelds tho, I've actually found a playing position that works without cramping me up: You lay on your back your sofa/bed or whatever, then you use a pillow/blanket on you stomach/chest area as a resting spot for you handheld, and it also works kind of like a raiser so you don't have to bend your neck too much. You obviously need some balance to keep it from falling over, but for me, that position takes away almost all the strain(and later cramps) I usually get. You can basically relax everything on you arms/hands except the fingers for the buttons. Anyways, this have made handhelds so much more enjoyable for me. Hopefully someone found this tip at least somewhat useful.🙃
Erica Griffin That actually doesn't answer their question... The real answer would be that you either did a transfer, got it over a week ahead of time, or are cheating. The system gives you a maximum of 300 at 10 PC per day with 1 coin per 100 steps. 152 on a new system is not otherwise possible in less than a week no matter how much you walk since it stops caring past a thousand steps every day so it has to be one of those 3 options. For example, mine's totally maxed out and has been since I bought it last week because I take them all with me wherever I go and basically never use the coins. So having done a transfer from my previous main which was already full up at 300 gave it the max immediately.
I'm not into the blue and black either. I like the look of the white and orange New Nintendo 2DS XL. Nintendo just announced a Poke Ball edition. It looks pretty good.

My home button doesn’t have any issues. I’m really glad you released this. I was just considering buying an expensive 3DS New model on eBay just for the 3D features but now that I know there are some advantages to the 2DS xl I’ll just be happy with what I already have.

The OLED model makes some strides in making it not feel like a cheap toy, but it still feels a bit gimmicky. Still waiting on a model that takes the best of the OLED model and the best of the Lite model to really feel like a winner; non detachable joycons, dockable, OLED, 6" screen, thin bezels. That's the Switch I want.
Do it. The new 3DS XL with head tracking works great. Even those who didn't use the 3D because it was too hard to hold it still do now because it is so easy. I would never go back to the old way and the option for 3D is nice to have. Some games look great in 3D.

Man American fixation with bigger=better is amazing. I really prefer smaller screens as pixel density for me tops the size of the screen (and I love my Vita, but I also enjoy my GBA Micro). For me the pixel density of the original model with the head tracking of the New 3DS would be the best combo.

The home button on mine is really easy to push. I just bought mine two days ago, usually new units are pretty stiff. Im very happy to find the buttons had good give and very happy with the overall device. Love your videos!
I traded in my original 3DS for the new 3DS XL when it first launched, and I regret not waiting until the new regular size released. I actually don't like the bigger screens because they're still the same resolution, so the games are more noticeably pixelated.
Awesome video, Erica. If I get a 2DS XL, I would spring for those small, round fabric "feet" - one side foam/fabric material, the other adhesive. These will add ~2mm distance between bottom of unit and whatever is underneath it - and the "feet" can be found at any dollar / craft store.
i was driving home from work and i decided to just buy myself one out of nowhere 😂. i still have my original chunky nintendo DS and my DSi (wow i feel old and i’m only 18 lol), i stopped by target and i was deciding between the 3DS xl and the 2DS xl and i remembered the times i played with my cousin’s 3DS and as much as i wanted to like it, the 3D feature only ever gave me a headache so i went with the 2DS (and i bought 6 games bc i haven’t been able to buy any in years since they don’t make my favorite games for regular DS and DSi anymore), i may have splurged a bit too much but so far i love my console!

When this model was initially announced, I was excited and set on buying one in the fall, but there are things about the New 2DS XL that I'm not feeling. - The build quality looks very suspect; it looks cheap and meant for a kid to use. I'm afraid that I would risk breaking it. - No removable battery (huge red flag). - Short stylus; I have average sized hands for my height (6'3"), so a tiny stylus would be an issue. - Speaker location and quality: I'd prefer front facing speakers. - D-Pad and face buttons don't appear as responsive or tactile as the New 3DS/3DS XL I'm probably going to buy a Nintendo refurbished new 3ds xl for $160 and be happy with that.
Amazing video I love the 2ds xl I have both blue/black one and the white/orange 2ds xl I just love how amazing the screens are and the body of the 2ds and definitely not to heavy either this is a great upgrade for me.
Nice review. I bought one myself and love it! For me the only two down sides of this unit is the flimsy top screen and the no easy access to change the battery if needed too. Nintendo should address this issue or at least produce a higher mah battery for longer gameplay.
I first had a DS lite that came with Animal Crossing Wild World Well..I aged and now it's time to move on! The 2ds xl is the best nintendo handheld I ever layed my eyes on! I mean...LOOK AT DAT SLIMNESS! SOON IT WILL BE MINE! :D
This vid actually made me decide on teh new 3DS XL because Ive had a regular 2DS for 4 1/2 years now and I'm ready for something a little bit more premium and I need teh longer battery for when I visit my family in the UK on the plane.

I had previously a 2DS and I liked it. Then I saw the new 2DS XL and I told me to buy it and Xenoblade for it. Now I have both and I still keep finishing the previous titles before I get into it. After I unboxed it and opened the new 2DS XL, I said to me it was huge. It is my main unit now. I guess I can keep using the 2DS but only for StreetPass Mii Plaza :P
Is this still kinda aimed at being used by kids, like the last 2ds? My seven year old has had the old 2ds for a couple years, and now my five year old wants something to play so I'm thinking of handing down the old 2ds and getting my older son the new 2ds but I'm just a little worried it's going to be too big for his hands as this one doesn't seem aimed at kids as the last one was
Captain Heawee From what I read, your problem is that you're worried this might be too big. I used a New 2ds XL and it felt the same size as my New 3DS Xl. I believe it would be a little too big for a seven year old. Sadly, there is no smaller option anymore as Nintendo stopped production of the small 3DS. It's your choice if you want to get it now, he had his 2DS for years, and I think that if he has his New 2ds xl for a couple years, his hands will eventually grow bigger and he will be able to play without a problem.
My little brother, who is 8 uses the XL. He's small for his age and hasn't had any problems holding it. Your kid should be able to use the XL just fine, but if you want to save some money, I'd recommend the regular 2DS.
If you're oldest son is 7, then he is old enough to start using the 3d effect on the new 3ds. So that means its best for him to get the smaller sized new 3ds.
Having a relatively difficult budget, it's good to treat yourself from time to time. I think the *new* 2DS XL is a decent, budget-friendly gaming console. I do with there were smaller model, though. My *new* 2DS did break not too long ago, and I had to get a repair. The top screen is super thin and can be easily broken if an accident occurred. The battery life is the same as a standard Nintendo 2DS, and it's not exactly the worst. I wish it lasted longer, but I think I'll live. I do agree that the colors they come in are not the best. Overall, I think it's a decent system.
NICE REVIEW...I could care less about the 3D feature and its so light and portable so I ended up buying 2 of the 2DS XL from Nintendo. Excited! This is my first DS system.
Not a fan of the 2DS XL. I currently own the New 3DS XL and am in love (mine has the better screens as well so I lucked out), but it's like comparing apples to oranges. The 2DS XL just feels cheap in my hands. While this may not bother a lot of people, I don't want to fork over that dough and have a cheap piece of plastic in my hands. I usually play with the 3D feature off on my other unit, but...there's so many ways they could have gone with this one and I feel like they just missed the boat.
This is a very thorough review, thanks. I guess I'll have to get the New 3dsxl on Amazon since literally every store on Vancouver Island BC is sold out of them. All they have are these kids sized ones now. I ended up giving up my DS Lite to one of my kids because the xl just felt less like a toy even though it is a toy.
I honestly prefer the New 3DS XL since replacing the battery is easier, the SD card is more secure, the stylus is larger, speakers have a little bit more oomph, slightly larger battery and has more attractive looking variations as well as the 3D feature if you ever want to use it.
I love Miiverse, but it's kind of tedious to use on the "NEW" 2DS XL having to tap out comments with the stylus because even though I'm 5ft 3in 141lbs I have larger hands for someone who is closer to 5ft 8/9in and 2 thumb typing on the touch screen is a no go as the keyboard keys are too small. Nintendo should have taken clues from Android on how to make a better keyboard layout as even on my old Moto E with a screen about the same size it was easy for me to type on with 2 thumbs in landscape, or portrait mode.
Commodorefan64: I used to use Miiverse on a regular 3Ds, but it didn't bother me much. Plus, I don't know how I managed to draw on that tiny screen, but I got used to it. Then moved onto the New 3Ds XL. Unfortunately, my account is permanently banned, so I'm stuck on Wii U.

A brief summary of her points for people deciding: 2DSXL Compared to 3DS XL: PROS - $50 less ($60 when considering it comes with power cord) - Lighter, especially the top part - Easy access to SD card - Same processor - A bit smaller, more portable - Same resolution (3DS is only technically double because of 3D mode) - Retains stereoscopic cameras for 3D photos, but cannot view them - Same size displays CONS - No 3D - Hinge can be a bit floppy - Gets approx. 1 hour less battery time - Buttons and hinge not as well-constructed - Speakers not as loud, not front-facing and can be muffled - Top part is glossy around screen so it attracts more fingerprints - Battery not easily user replaceable
dont mind them, most people always say that SAO is trash. I personally enjoy it but Im not too big of a fanboy. My profile is Mc since havent changed it really, Im too lazy to do. So pay them no mind and i wonder why people like Blazeh and other people think it is fun or correct to hate or discriminate other people's opinion. For Ex. SAO ( since it is the most well known hated anime ) people say it is trash but some dont see or think it that way. I may say your pixel character is the cringiest character I've seen but other people may say it is cool or original or whatever
Hi Erica, great video! I am not having that Home Button issue on my system. The power button can be challenging just a bit. But I would assume it depends on your hands. I mainly play on my Vita and PSP systems, but the New 2DS XL is a refreshing update to add to my portable library.

Great review! I was looking at the 2DS XL but found a New 3DS for less on Amazon, so got that. My first DS ever. Your 3DS love is contagious, Erica (also, your videos are great). I have dual TN screens that seem well calibrated :/ trying to resist looking for an IPS model.
Howdy, figured I'd mention since you asked Erica. My launch 2DSXL has the same issue with the Home button however when I bought the purple/Silver one the home button felt vastly better.
To be honest, I don't like it. Nintendo should have just released more of the new 3ds (normal size) In the states. The new 2ds feels cheap, the screen is worse than the new 3ds, no 3d (yes I use it, fight me haha) and the speakers don't sound good. Just spend the extra $50 and buy a new 3ds xl
+mike_pogo the screen isn't worse. See where I talk about the display. It's the same display (leftovers from the new 3DS XL). The issue is that their calibration methodologies or lack there of are very poor! No two white points are the same. Gamma on some is way too low. So some screens look better than others but this is the same screen. Nintendo says the screens are 400x240 when they are not. They are 800x240. See my video for proof.
Yo tuve la Old 3DS XL, luego la New 3DS XL y ahora la New 2DS XL. De las 3, la más cómoda es la 2ds XL, se siente súper ligera en la mano y eso permite muchas horas de juego sin que se canse la muñeca. Es más compacta y entra en el bolsillo, las pantallas siguen siendo las mismas y hasta juraría que tiene un poco más de brillo que la N3DS XL. El efecto 3D sinceramente jamás lo usaba porque siempre se distorcionaba la imagen y me veía obligado a apagarlo el 95% de las veces, así que en mi caso no servía. Lo único que me molesta es que la batería dura un poco menos que la anterior, nada que un cargador a mano no pueda solucionar pero sí la N3DS XL tenía un poco más de autonomía. En conclusión la 2DS XL es más práctica, ligera, pequeña y moderna, aunque puede que la calidad de los materiales no se sientan del todo premium. Si el efecto 3D de la N3DS XL hubiese sido 100% estable, les diría que sí o sí compren la N3DS XL, pero como funciona súper mal y entonces uno tiende a desactivarlo, les diría que vayan por la 2DS XL, ganan en casi todo, pierden en autonomía y el "efecto 3d".

Only if my current MH4U N3DS kicks the bucket, but as it stands, after Metroid, I don't see myself buying many more 3DS games as I vastly prefer the Switch as a proper handheld replacement with a kickass screen.
I got my last Saturday as I had my unit on preorder from Game Stop, and the only reason I did not pick mine up on the 28th on release day was Work, and family crap got in my way so I could not get to GameStop before they closed LOL! Been loving the "NEW" 2DS XL with only a few minor gripes like the tiny audio from both the speaker, and headphone jack(I use a Fiio portable headphone amp with mine to improve the sound levels), the stylus is a bit small, and after a few hours I have to stop playing as my hands cramp up so I have a grip handle case on the way I found for less then $5 on eBay.
For $100's cheaper, it really is a great deal for your money. As with the screen though, I find those glass cleaner wipes work wonders. Just waiting for screen protectors in the mail now :) Great review. I love my 2DS XL! Been wanting one since I was a kid, and this year that childhood dream came true :) OBSESSED!

I love my 2ds XL, actually.. its my first DS console, so i can now catch up on all of the 3ds games i missed the past decade or so! Sooo stoked!

Erica Griffin That actually doesn't answer their question... The real answer would be that you either did a transfer, got it over a week ahead of time, or are cheating.
The system gives you a maximum of 300 at 10 PC per day with 1 coin per 100 steps. 152 on a new system is not otherwise possible in less than a week no matter how much you walk since it stops caring past a thousand steps every day so it has to be one of those 3 options.
For example, mine's totally maxed out and has been since I bought it last week because I take them all with me wherever I go and basically never use the coins. So having done a transfer from my previous main which was already full up at 300 gave it the max immediately.

My home button doesn’t have any issues. I’m really glad you released this. I was just considering buying an expensive 3DS New model on eBay just for the 3D features but now that I know there are some advantages to the 2DS xl I’ll just be happy with what I already have.

Do it. The new 3DS XL with head tracking works great. Even those who didn't use the 3D because it was too hard to hold it still do now because it is so easy. I would never go back to the old way and the option for 3D is nice to have. Some games look great in 3D.

Man American fixation with bigger=better is amazing. I really prefer smaller screens as pixel density for me tops the size of the screen (and I love my Vita, but I also enjoy my GBA Micro).
For me the pixel density of the original model with the head tracking of the New 3DS would be the best combo.

The home button on mine is really easy to push. I just bought mine two days ago, usually new units are pretty stiff. Im very happy to find the buttons had good give and very happy with the overall device. Love your videos!

I traded in my original 3DS for the new 3DS XL when it first launched, and I regret not waiting until the new regular size released. I actually don't like the bigger screens because they're still the same resolution, so the games are more noticeably pixelated.
Yeah I still use the original model. Never had issues with it and never felt the need to upgrade.

Awesome video, Erica. If I get a 2DS XL, I would spring for those small, round fabric "feet" - one side foam/fabric material, the other adhesive. These will add ~2mm distance between bottom of unit and whatever is underneath it - and the "feet" can be found at any dollar / craft store.
i was driving home from work and i decided to just buy myself one out of nowhere 😂. i still have my original chunky nintendo DS and my DSi (wow i feel old and i’m only 18 lol), i stopped by target and i was deciding between the 3DS xl and the 2DS xl and i remembered the times i played with my cousin’s 3DS and as much as i wanted to like it, the 3D feature only ever gave me a headache so i went with the 2DS (and i bought 6 games bc i haven’t been able to buy any in years since they don’t make my favorite games for regular DS and DSi anymore), i may have splurged a bit too much but so far i love my console!

When this model was initially announced, I was excited and set on buying one in the fall, but there are things about the New 2DS XL that I'm not feeling.
- The build quality looks very suspect; it looks cheap and meant for a kid to use. I'm afraid that I would risk breaking it.
- No removable battery (huge red flag).
- Short stylus; I have average sized hands for my height (6'3"), so a tiny stylus would be an issue.
- Speaker location and quality: I'd prefer front facing speakers.
- D-Pad and face buttons don't appear as responsive or tactile as the New 3DS/3DS XL
I'm probably going to buy a Nintendo refurbished new 3ds xl for $160 and be happy with that.

The battery is removeable. Just not as easy. But the SD card is much easier than in the 3dsxl.

Amazing video I love the 2ds xl I have both blue/black one and the white/orange 2ds xl I just love how amazing the screens are and the body of the 2ds and definitely not to heavy either this is a great upgrade for me.

Nice review. I bought one myself and love it! For me the only two down sides of this unit is the flimsy top screen and the no easy access to change the battery if needed too. Nintendo should address this issue or at least produce a higher mah battery for longer gameplay.

I had previously a 2DS and I liked it. Then I saw the new 2DS XL and I told me to buy it and Xenoblade for it. Now I have both and I still keep finishing the previous titles before I get into it. After I unboxed it and opened the new 2DS XL, I said to me it was huge. It is my main unit now. I guess I can keep using the 2DS but only for StreetPass Mii Plaza :P
Is this still kinda aimed at being used by kids, like the last 2ds? My seven year old has had the old 2ds for a couple years, and now my five year old wants something to play so I'm thinking of handing down the old 2ds and getting my older son the new 2ds but I'm just a little worried it's going to be too big for his hands as this one doesn't seem aimed at kids as the last one was
Captain Heawee From what I read, your problem is that you're worried this might be too big. I used a New 2ds XL and it felt the same size as my New 3DS Xl. I believe it would be a little too big for a seven year old. Sadly, there is no smaller option anymore as Nintendo stopped production of the small 3DS. It's your choice if you want to get it now, he had his 2DS for years, and I think that if he has his New 2ds xl for a couple years, his hands will eventually grow bigger and he will be able to play without a problem.

My little brother, who is 8 uses the XL. He's small for his age and hasn't had any problems holding it. Your kid should be able to use the XL just fine, but if you want to save some money, I'd recommend the regular 2DS.
If you're oldest son is 7, then he is old enough to start using the 3d effect on the new 3ds. So that means its best for him to get the smaller sized new 3ds.

Having a relatively difficult budget, it's good to treat yourself from time to time. I think the *new* 2DS XL is a decent, budget-friendly gaming console. I do with there were smaller model, though. My *new* 2DS did break not too long ago, and I had to get a repair. The top screen is super thin and can be easily broken if an accident occurred. The battery life is the same as a standard Nintendo 2DS, and it's not exactly the worst. I wish it lasted longer, but I think I'll live. I do agree that the colors they come in are not the best. Overall, I think it's a decent system.

Not a fan of the 2DS XL. I currently own the New 3DS XL and am in love (mine has the better screens as well so I lucked out), but it's like comparing apples to oranges. The 2DS XL just feels cheap in my hands. While this may not bother a lot of people, I don't want to fork over that dough and have a cheap piece of plastic in my hands. I usually play with the 3D feature off on my other unit, but...there's so many ways they could have gone with this one and I feel like they just missed the boat.
This is a very thorough review, thanks. I guess I'll have to get the New 3dsxl on Amazon since literally every store on Vancouver Island BC is sold out of them. All they have are these kids sized ones now. I ended up giving up my DS Lite to one of my kids because the xl just felt less like a toy even though it is a toy.

I honestly prefer the New 3DS XL since replacing the battery is easier, the SD card is more secure, the stylus is larger, speakers have a little bit more oomph, slightly larger battery and has more attractive looking variations as well as the 3D feature if you ever want to use it.

I'd get this just so I could use Miiverse on a handheld again...
I love Miiverse, but it's kind of tedious to use on the "NEW" 2DS XL having to tap out comments with the stylus because even though I'm 5ft 3in 141lbs I have larger hands for someone who is closer to 5ft 8/9in and 2 thumb typing on the touch screen is a no go as the keyboard keys are too small. Nintendo should have taken clues from Android on how to make a better keyboard layout as even on my old Moto E with a screen about the same size it was easy for me to type on with 2 thumbs in landscape, or portrait mode.
Commodorefan64: I used to use Miiverse on a regular 3Ds, but it didn't bother me much. Plus, I don't know how I managed to draw on that tiny screen, but I got used to it. Then moved onto the New 3Ds XL. Unfortunately, my account is permanently banned, so I'm stuck on Wii U.

Hi Erica, great video! I am not having that Home Button issue on my system. The power button can be challenging just a bit. But I would assume it depends on your hands. I mainly play on my Vita and PSP systems, but the New 2DS XL is a refreshing update to add to my portable library.

Howdy, figured I'd mention since you asked Erica. My launch 2DSXL has the same issue with the Home button however when I bought the purple/Silver one the home button felt vastly better.
To be honest, I don't like it. Nintendo should have just released more of the new 3ds (normal size) In the states. The new 2ds feels cheap, the screen is worse than the new 3ds, no 3d (yes I use it, fight me haha) and the speakers don't sound good. Just spend the extra $50 and buy a new 3ds xl
+mike_pogo the screen isn't worse. See where I talk about the display. It's the same display (leftovers from the new 3DS XL). The issue is that their calibration methodologies or lack there of are very poor! No two white points are the same. Gamma on some is way too low. So some screens look better than others but this is the same screen. Nintendo says the screens are 400x240 when they are not. They are 800x240. See my video for proof.

Yo tuve la Old 3DS XL, luego la New 3DS XL y ahora la New 2DS XL. De las 3, la más cómoda es la 2ds XL, se siente súper ligera en la mano y eso permite muchas horas de juego sin que se canse la muñeca. Es más compacta y entra en el bolsillo, las pantallas siguen siendo las mismas y hasta juraría que tiene un poco más de brillo que la N3DS XL. El efecto 3D sinceramente jamás lo usaba porque siempre se distorcionaba la imagen y me veía obligado a apagarlo el 95% de las veces, así que en mi caso no servía. Lo único que me molesta es que la batería dura un poco menos que la anterior, nada que un cargador a mano no pueda solucionar pero sí la N3DS XL tenía un poco más de autonomía. En conclusión la 2DS XL es más práctica, ligera, pequeña y moderna, aunque puede que la calidad de los materiales no se sientan del todo premium. Si el efecto 3D de la N3DS XL hubiese sido 100% estable, les diría que sí o sí compren la N3DS XL, pero como funciona súper mal y entonces uno tiende a desactivarlo, les diría que vayan por la 2DS XL, ganan en casi todo, pierden en autonomía y el "efecto 3d".

Only if my current MH4U N3DS kicks the bucket, but as it stands, after Metroid, I don't see myself buying many more 3DS games as I vastly prefer the Switch as a proper handheld replacement with a kickass screen.
I got my last Saturday as I had my unit on preorder from Game Stop, and the only reason I did not pick mine up on the 28th on release day was Work, and family crap got in my way so I could not get to GameStop before they closed LOL! Been loving the "NEW" 2DS XL with only a few minor gripes like the tiny audio from both the speaker, and headphone jack(I use a Fiio portable headphone amp with mine to improve the sound levels), the stylus is a bit small, and after a few hours I have to stop playing as my hands cramp up so I have a grip handle case on the way I found for less then $5 on eBay.

For $100's cheaper, it really is a great deal for your money. As with the screen though, I find those glass cleaner wipes work wonders. Just waiting for screen protectors in the mail now :) Great review. I love my 2DS XL! Been wanting one since I was a kid, and this year that childhood dream came true :) OBSESSED!

The game is digital... So nintendo has no cost producing the copy. It's more like a bonus, so the 2ds still cost $80.
