This is superb. Whenever people ask why there is a rivalry between Chelsea and Leeds I'll just show them this.
There is no doubt that this rivalry is more felt on the Leeds side, but that is only due to their 16 year absence from the PL. The Abramovic era/plastic fans won't have a clue, but Chelsea fans over a certain age are well aware and still feel hatred towards Leeds.
    Great work 👏👏

Watched the whole, fantastic video, superb effort. As a Chelsea fan, I enjoyed it immensely - this rivalry has kind of been nonexistent for most of my adulthood, because as Lampard eloquently noted, we've been in the premier league :) Glad to have you back in the top division, it's a shame the re-ignition happens during a season where there limited or no fans in the ground.
I just have one bone to with pick you, and that's the assertion that Lampard has decided to completely abandon developing youth in favour of new big money signings. Chelsea have obviously spent big in the summer but Reece James, Mount and Abraham have featured in almost every single game this season. I do not think we have a played a single game this season without at least 2 academy graduates in the team. But I suspect it was the Leeds that came out there, which is to be expected in all fairness.
Can't wait for the game tomorrow. Leeds have been very exciting to watch this season.

@@johndempsey7528 it’s nice that you’re on here and socialising with football fans, most of which are Leeds.
The sad thing I remember as a young boy was how you absolutely planned it take out Eddie Gray in which you successfully did. How much was being dirty a part of your plans? And how much emphasis was put in taking out Eddie Gray as part of your tactics.
I know also that Leeds weren’t angels but there’s no way on earth they’d plan to take out any of your players to gain the advantage needed for victory.
      Cheers 🍻

@@andrewheyes564 Hi Andrew football back then was really tough to play in and tackle’s were made that looked really bad. In the first game Eddie Gray gave David Webb a terrible time and was man of the match but in the second game Dave Sexton changed it by having Ron Harris marking him which was a lot better for the team. I know Ron Harris had a reputation back then but their was no plan to kick the hell out of him but on the night he caught him after 10 minutes and Eddie Gray never was in the game after that. Leeds were a tough team to play against and was always a real battle on the field. Stay Safe.

Great video! Good to see this historic rivalry properly celebrated. The two clubs have a lot in common: both have had to fight for survival at different times. Bit of nonsense at the end though about Chelsea "abandoning youth development" (the opposite is true, and Chelsea have been working for this moment for the best part of 15 years).

Great video, enjoyed watching that. Followed my Dad in supporting Chelsea after he chose to support Chelsea before the 1970 FA Cup Final against Leeds.
Although, the little bit at the end saying Lampard has abandoned plans to develop youth is a bit of rubbish. The fact he still has Reece James, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi playing most games and the likes of Billy Gilmour will play once he's over his terrible injury suggests he'll stick with giving youth players their chance, unlike previous Chelsea managers, but I guess that's probably just a little dig at Lampard because of other reasons. And we spent the money earned over several years of player sales and having a transfer ban.

    • @LUFCLewis
      @LUFCLewis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It’s more the fact he came out and said he “I never wanted us to be an academy club” after spending £200m+, when he’d said the complete opposite in his first season.
James and Abraham were developed by other managers, so having said he wanted to focus on bringing the youth through in his first season, he’s got nothing to show for that other than Mount (At a push) and Odoi.
Now he’s got money and he’s signing big players, he doesn’t seem arsed about developing the youth.

As "Dirty" Leeds are one of the select few clubs that are loathed nationwide by just about every other football fan but ironically one of the best supported teams, do you have any plans to continue the 'Rivals' documentaries? Certainly like to see the history between Leeds and Barnsley, the two Sheffield clubs and Hull.

Leeds' rivals in the early '70s was practically the whole First Division, because, let's face it, in those days everybody hated Revie's boys. Their skill was matched only by their ruthlessness. 😉
Jack Charlton's bodyslam, if that's the right word, on Osgood is priceless - Peter didn't stand a chance!

I don't think Lampard's reputation was ever tarnished. A spy was present and if the preparation made sending a spy irrelevant, then why do it?
