Why do you want to call him up" Bielsa laughs, "time will tell why." That's El Loco

I’m a life long Leeds fan and live in Wetherby, the town closest to Leeds’ Thorp Arch training complex. Bielsa also lives in Wetherby and you’ll often see him walking through town in the morning, full Leeds gear on (no attempt at going incognito) complete with back pack as he walks the 2 miles to Thorp Arch. No airs and graces, no pimped up limos, just a man of the people happy to (try) and blend in on his walk to work. In the afternoons he’ll often be spotted sitting in town with his staff (all in full Leeds tracksuits) in the coffee shops going over tactics and paper work just attempting to blend in having the occasional photo snapped with kids. A few weeks ago I was driving close to my house and saw a group of slightly dishevelled looking guys who nearly stepped out into the road right in front of my car. As I prepared to slam on the brakes, I spotted it was actually Bielsa with a group of his disciples. Thankfully they stepped back as I drove past. I hesitated for a second before thinking “sod it, I’ll never get a better chance” and parked up and ran over to them. When he spotted me, Bielsa straight away said “photo?” and invited me over. One of his guys offered to take the snap, even taking the time to make sure it was framed correctly and take it from two angles to make sure he got the perfect snap for this (sad) 40 year old man getting a personal memento of his latest footballing idol with his arm wrapped around me. 😂 Funniest thing was that 5 hours later my wife (who was out in town meeting a friend for coffee and with our one week old baby daughter) saw Bielsa and co in the coffee shop they were in. So imagine my surprise when I got a message from my wife (I’m thinking “ok so what is she going to ask me to get from the supermarket”) only to open the message and see a photo of my smiling wife holding our baby daughter posing next to a smiling ‘Grandad Bielsa’! 😅 When I proudly showed my photos to a fellow Leeds supporting dad the next day (when i dropped my eldest daughter off at school) he said “oh yeah, he lives in that flat over there” pointing over at the most basic, nondescript 1st floor ‘granny flat’. It’s fair to say that money and glamour are not his main motivators. He’s obviously just a decent and humble human being who lives and breathes football and knows how much it means to the fans of the club he represents. Top bloke.

He's basically a manager's manager. Most people don't realize what a crazy genius he is but other coaches study him since he's the only one daring enough to try such new and innovative tactics.
This man means everything to Chile. He’s on the news 24/7 as if he was our own. Which by now he is. We are forever thankful for what he did to our team and the amazing moments we lived for him. Forever thankful for El Loco
He's such a great manager. Anyone who knows and loves football would know how influential he is in this beautiful game. No wonder why Pep,Poch, Simeone and many other great coaches idolize him. I hope he guides Leeds to promotion to see his beautiful football in PL next season. Te Amo El Loco
It was the dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen on both ends of the equation. And I have no stake in this so this is my unbiased take on this: a) Leeds had no chance to get automatic promotion, could only equal Sheff United tally with H2H at 1-1 and them having a much better goal difference. Unless for some reason it's the goals scored that go ahead of GD as a promotion tiebreaker? Even then Leeds were 5 goals short of Sheffield with only 2 games to score them in. b) Villa knew they were safely in the playoffs, Middlesbrough couldn't threaten them, neither could Bristol. Only thing was whether they were 5th or 6th. c) There was no foul on Kodija. No whistle was blown. If you're going the all high-and-mighty route and demand fair play in such a circumstance regardless, if you stop playing and do not defend, you have only yourself to blame. I don't see what the hell is the big deal about continuing the play here? NO. FOUL. d) The goal was offside, shouldn't have stood - this is the only argument for Villa, not that the result in the game mattered in any way? e) John Terry acting as Villa's moral compass on the sidelines is nothing short of hilarious. Poor Bielsa having to do something like this (which for all intents and purposes he shouldn't have to do, and only did it because they kicked off). Even funnier he's championed as the ultimate hero when it's clear he didn't even care for the incident itself all that much, lol.
I'm not a Leeds fan nor will I ever be but, I'm hoping that Bielsa can get them promoted to the Premier League. Most of us football fans can only wish that our respective club's managers have this much dedication and attention to detail towards the game. I must tip my hat to what he has done for Leeds and again to the great football managers he has mentored/inspired.
Arguably one of the greatest footballing minds out there. Hope to see him with Leeds in the Prem, next season. Can't imagine what he'd do if he were allowed o buy HIS BRAND of players at a big club and what he'd do with them.
The thing is that he hates the commercial part of football so he never joins the wealthy teams. That's why he likes to go to the smaller teams and work with what they have.
Bielsa is probably one off the best 5 ma nagers off the last 25 years... But sometimes, even the greatests can't win, but his ideas built strong teams and strong players and other strong managers.
Must have watched all these Leeds Bielsa vids 5 times each now. I'm a lifelong Leeds fan from Leeds. I fell out of love with football for a long time but seeing how Leeds have been over last 2 seasons has been phenomenal. We needed this guy so much. Cant wait to see us hammer some Prem sides next season
Very passionate person this is what football about. Im a liverpool fan even though we have klopp but im touched by this coach i hope that he can coach liverpool when klopp time is done
His passion for football is just infectious. He took the Chilean team at the right time and everything around the team changed, the players and the fans' expectations changed and that lead to a football revolution in Chile. He is a man true to his beliefs and he earned the respect of the people for the way he acts in and outside of the football field. He does not like to rest on his laurels though, he will seek a new challenge after a while.
In my opinion as a fan and also as a Latino person Leeds and UK is the place for Marcelo. A place where people love football but also respect the game and the meaning of it. In the South, we got huge troubles with respect, we do not give the credit to managers deserve if something goes wrong it is easy to blame them and kick them out, and on the top of that we do forget that this game is about winning but also about beauty, about having a great time. I hope British people treat him as he deserves and give him the opportunity to take Leeds United where belongs.
As argentinean, I thank you for this brief history of this one-of-a-kind man. Leed's now on Premier, goal accomplished by the whole club: talented players, commited staff, intelligent coach and unconditional supporters. How to miss such incredible matches? Best's coming up and we are too many in these lands expectating a better Leeds leaded by El Loco...
I am chilean and can tell you: we love this man. Leeds, you are lucky to have him. He is good for football, soccer here in USA, he is good for Leeds club and city. He is good for everyone that loves football, he is good for this world. Congrats Leeds United!
Fair play and respectamundo to you Brother. I started going to Leeds games in 1985, pretty much just after the 25 year Leeds United Golden Era, which I knew literally nothing about. Our family moved up North fron down South due to my Dad's work, and he didn't have a team so I fell into it through the local lads wanging on about Leeds. Many moons later, and the football that I know is gone, the entire 'thing' turned into one big corporate scam (which it still is, and always will be now. Until the whole shithouse goes up in flames) I fell out with modern day football for a long time. I am and always will be a Leeds fan, but just hated what football had become, the Marcelo turned up. And now, I too am a follower of his. The man is a living legend.
Just wanna say one thing. This channel makes me want to be like bielsa and dedicate all my life to football. You guys taught me so much about the game in a unique way. Keep it up
Bielsa was the perfect man at the perfect moment to raise the chilean golden generation. His legacy in the chilean national team was huge and continues to this day. Chile always had good players but lacked an identity, style of playing, and hard work. What Bielsa made in Chile is one of the main reasons of the team's recent success and also the reason why Messi doesn't have a Copa América today.
Watching this just after he’s been sacked.. our ownership group have made him the scapegoat they didn’t back him enough in the summer transfer windows and didn’t offer him any real quality in January I’m gutted that bielsa has gone football is so much more than winning a few games bielsa made Leeds his club bielsa brought into the city of Leeds and the county of Yorkshire bielsa gave us our club back and for that I’ll be forever grateful thank you Marcelo
Bielsa has always been the guy whose players made it big even after he left he club, that tells us about the impact in the mindset he makes in his players.
After watching that game with Liverpool, I've really started to appreciate this guy's obsessive drive to analyze and coach. His team is quite impressive.
We love Bielsa in Chile. He’s basically Father football having raised our best team in the history of our country. Even though we didn’t win anything with him (because we had a mostly young team) we did win 2 copa America’s back to back with the same players he raised for years that played on the pitch under his form. He influenced our Back to back champs
I remember his first year here in Bilbao. I have never seen Athletic play so well in San Mames or away, he won our heart. The masterclass at Old Trafford was incredible, like a trophy. This week, Leeds United played really well in the Emirates, they proved they play like a team, but Arsenal had more quality and goal. I will watch Marcelo's teams if I can. His teams are a joy to watch.
As an Argentinian is beautiful and very touching watching this kind of videos from people of the other countries. Here there's a lot of people who talks awful about him after the 2002 world cup. But they don't realize the essence of what he really achieve: Every player (or mostly at least) which were under his management in the field, says they are better player, more complete and even improve their careers after having him as a coach. He's making football better in every way possible. And that's is a true legacy for EVERYONE. Thank you for this, and thanks Bielsa for all your passion and commitment with what you (and we) love.
Jeevan Gill tifo made a report on the word cup in Qatar, how immoral it is, how migrant workers are tricked into going to these places and literally be worked to death, and the other I can’t remember haha
I would rather keep bielsa than get promoted to the premier league, this season has been the best season since I’ve became a Leeds season ticket holder LEEDS CARAJO
As a kid in Chile during his run, El Loco Bielsa brought us something that no other man has before, he gave us hope and dreams that we too can be a good team, he showed us that we can have an extremely offensive team with great teamplay, despite having (at the time) average players all around. It was like someone waking us up. I have nothing but thankfulness to the man and I would love if he ever decides to return as a manager, not only because we love his football, but the man himself.
Great video as usual, but how come i, a brazilian, never knew about this guy? why the media here never talks about this great mind of football? and we call ourselves "the country of football". Thanks for this, i love his approach to football
leandro....sou peruano. Eu fui pro Brasil varias vezes...e realmente a maioria de brasileiros nao assistem jogos de paises sulamericanos.....so da Libertadores e so quando tem times brasileiros. Vcs o q gostam e futebol brasileiro e acabou.
Bielsa took the Chilean National Team form the last possition of Southamerica to the second one, only after Brazil and without any football star (Sanchez, Vidal, Medel, Bravo were at an early stage of their career). Moreover, he taught the team to play ofensively no matter the rival. He planted the seeds that made the team to win their first two titles in football history.
@@carlx8409 yes i was. I think we deserved the second or third place and with those champions league spots we could have kept players like Payet , Gignac an Ayew. And with these players and probably transfers, bielsa wouldn't have left.
@@carlx8409 I think our squad wasn't deep enough to Play 38+ Games that way we played. Maybe that's why we were 1st position half of the season and 4th at the end.
We absolutely adore Bielsa here in Chile. He transformed our football forever, since he took a mediocre national team that had an awful qualifiers to the 2006 world cup , and in a couple of years he developed a vibrant, attacking team with young players mostly, which ended second, just one point behind Brazil. He also loves Chile, as he said in his last press conference, where he almost bursted into tears, and up until this day we hope he'll come back someday.
Even 1 year later, this story is still exciting to watch and even more because Bielsa's interesting tactics & management style that finally made Leeds United back to PL this seasons even as the champion of Championship. What a such tactition!
It's great to hear from fans from South America and what this great coach has done for the nations of Argentina and Chile. Now that's what you call leaving a legacy. Gracias por sus amables comentarios. Sé que Bielsa ha creado nuevos fanáticos en América del Sur. Congratulations Leeds the world of football is talking about our city.
Man, have you red that about M.U? "$3.8 billion (£3bn) in May 2019, which made them the third most valuable football club in the world, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona." I really trust in Leeds, but, mtfcker!, A Ton of money to buy superior players, I wish the best to Bielsa and Leeds.
I've watched Leeds play away to QPR a while back and we sat just behind Bielsa and his coaching staff. That was the only reason I went to the game. To finally see EL Loco. Thoroughly entertaining just watching his interactions with players and coaches.
Wow the fact that he made the Leeds players pick up later to make the realize the value of the labour especially of the working class fans who show up day in day out, is brilliant. Huge respect to this man! Can't wait to see his side next season
As Chilean when I see games of leeds or I saw athletic and Marseille’s games it makes me feel sad because it raises nostalgic in me about the excellent philosophy and hard working that my national team would display in the pitch and the training sessions. Bielsa went beyond the football to the Chilean society it is a vivid lesson of notable intensity.
What a man. We have very few of them left. I wish him all the sucess as he deserves it. Am a gunner btw but Leeds they are a special team under him and all the premier league teams have one eye on them as they are guaranteed promotion this year. So hope the best for EL LOCO as he is indeed the "special one".
Hands down best football I’ve ever seen leeds play and he’s achieved this in the space of a season. Well worth every penny watching the team this year.
The part where they said that Bielsa made his players work for 3 hours to understand how hard fans work for those tickets. THIS IS A MAN OF THE PEOPLE.
There are maybe only two managers in the history of Leeds United, who'm the fans would accept giving a goal away as happened yesterday, Don Revie and Marcelo Bielsa. That is what this man means to us within 12 months. Vamos Leeds, and God Bless you Marcelo Bielsa. ALAW
I think his next season at the top flight football will be massively interesting. I just hope the players respond on the pitch. I’m sure all football fans have great expectations. Can’t wait!
A very good report! You've captured Bielsa's thinking exactly. Greetings from Argentina from a Newell's Old Boys supporter. (Especially to Leeds supporters)
Lovely video. “El Loco” is actually very relatable to me, and I’m sure many of the people who devour TH-cam channels like this one and generally think more about football than they maybe should do as well.
This is incredible as Leeds fan people won't realise the impact this man has had on the club and the city itself. It's almost as if he and Leeds were made for each other.
The videos this channel releases is full of information about the sport and delivered in a clear, concise and very entertaining. I hope this channel would continue to grow and prosper. Kudos to the people behind this great project!
Bielsa is the reason I love football, and the reason I hate that there's only one of him. During the most recent game at Bolton, I remember watching the foul on Alioski that ended up in a massive fight, Klich squirting water on a Bolton player, and their manager receiving a red card. Not once did Bielsa get involved in the fight that pulled his staff and players in. Bielsa took a player aside, and focused all his attention on Alioski, who had just been, for lack of a better term, assaulted on the pitch. That kind of heart and genuine caring is something you don't see in many coaches.
Now this does put a smile on my Face. Tifo this is a must. He has won multiple Absa PL titles. 1 Champions League. Recently beat the team of the century Al Ahly 5 - 0 in the Champions League and could perhaps still win the double. His team has been picked apart multiple times yet he still competes on all fronts. Sundowns are Modern team in Africa paving the way for what teams in South Africa have to do to suceed in African football. You have to analyze them. Joe, get the team behind this
I’m from Chile. Bielsa is the only manager that makes you feel happier than one who wins trophies. Chile won the last two Copa Americas with two different managers. Something historical for us. I still prefer Bielsa than these managers.
What makes him great "Passion, and obsession with the sport" is what makes him not last too long in one spot, he wears himself out and his players out I would Imagine with his intensity. Genius Football man!
Unfortunately, there are no managers like El Loco nowadays, who simply loves the game of "football". I would pray Leeds United to come to premier league only because of El Loco. Just very curious to see his magic in the top division with the likes of Pep and Pochettino. ❤

El Loco! Thats why I love him. No fear! He’s like a mad scientist unafraid of repercussions!
Nikola tesla of football
He's basically a manager's manager. Most people don't realize what a crazy genius he is but other coaches study him since he's the only one daring enough to try such new and innovative tactics.
This man means everything to Chile. He’s on the news 24/7 as if he was our own. Which by now he is. We are forever thankful for what he did to our team and the amazing moments we lived for him. Forever thankful for El Loco
Bastian Contreras 🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱 he changed Chile. Because of him and his discipline/style we won 2 Copa America’s
Who's watching this after Leeds got promoted 😁. El Loco is coming to the Premier League😍😍😍❤️
I think what Bielsa did yesterday on the pitch was world class
Wouldn’t have done it if they were still in with a shout of automatic
Barney Booth who would?
At first I thought I thought giving the goal was naive. After watching this video i feel truly humbled.
It was the dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen on both ends of the equation. And I have no stake in this so this is my unbiased take on this:
a) Leeds had no chance to get automatic promotion, could only equal Sheff United tally with H2H at 1-1 and them having a much better goal difference.
Well just as stated in the video, he loves football and probably doesnt want to taint it
I'm not a Leeds fan nor will I ever be but, I'm hoping that Bielsa can get them promoted to the Premier League. Most of us football fans can only wish that our respective club's managers have this much dedication and attention to detail towards the game. I must tip my hat to what he has done for Leeds and again to the great football managers he has mentored/inspired.
Congrats your wish has been granted ❤️
I'm an Arsenal fan from India... I can't explain why I tears in my eyes as I watched the video !!! Passion ❤️
Came here after Leeds' first PL match. It's sure as hell entertaining to watch them play. This might be the best premier league season yet!!!
you should watch the Amazon Prime Documentary , ull be a fan of the team and Bielsa

Wonderful timing to do Bielsa week. The man is an inspiration.
He only stayed a year in Marseille, but we will never forget what he did for the club and its fans. Gracias Marcelo
Best soccer coach in the world, and a true master that has formed several generations of great players around the world.
Perfect timing for this video. Class act yesterday by Marcelo.
Bielsa did the Russian Adidas squat before it was cool
He is a closed Slavboo
He's a western spy
In my opinion as a fan and also as a Latino person Leeds and UK is the place for Marcelo. A place where people love football but also respect the game and the meaning of it. In the South, we got huge troubles with respect, we do not give the credit to managers deserve if something goes wrong it is easy to blame them and kick them out, and on the top of that we do forget that this game is about winning but also about beauty, about having a great time. I hope British people treat him as he deserves and give him the opportunity to take Leeds United where belongs.
Had a coffee with the bloke not long ago. Doesn’t speak much English but is happy to make an effort, great man. MOT
How?!
Until the whole shithouse goes up in flames)
I fell out with modern day football for a long time.
This is true. His impact on the culture of a club lives longer than his stay; which for me is the sign of greatness.
I first came to know about him in 2002. I would very much love to meet him.
Lots of respect and admiration from Bangladesh🇧🇩.
Amazing! I am literally crying right now! Thanks tifo, this is the 3rd time you have made me cry 🙄🙄
What were the other two?

Marcelo Bielsa is a genius man. Just look at how he struts at 7:46 that pose. That's the hallmark of a genius man
Bielsa took the Chilean National Team form the last possition of Southamerica to the second one, only after Brazil and without any football star (Sanchez, Vidal, Medel, Bravo were at an early stage of their career). Moreover, he taught the team to play ofensively no matter the rival. He planted the seeds that made the team to win their first two titles in football history.
Had goosebumps all over while listening to this.True legend.
I'm a Marseille fan and i can tell that he gave us a wonderful year full of emotions and good football
Didn't you feel disappointed with the way that season ended? I'm just curious.
@@carlx8409 yes i was. I think we deserved the second or third place and with those champions league spots we could have kept players like Payet , Gignac an Ayew. And with these players and probably transfers, bielsa wouldn't have left.
@@cvrs4578 And what do you think went wrong the second part of the season?

Wow the fact that he made the Leeds players pick up later to make the realize the value of the labour especially of the working class fans who show up day in day out, is brilliant. Huge respect to this man! Can't wait to see his side next season
He knows exactly what we need!
I'm from Argentina and I love Bielsa, and now Leeds is my team in England.
It is good to see sport and academia combined together. Bielsa is an effective advocate for this approach

What a man. We have very few of them left. I wish him all the sucess as he deserves it.
ALAW

Lovely video. “El Loco” is actually very relatable to me, and I’m sure many of the people who devour TH-cam channels like this one and generally think more about football than they maybe should do as well.
Your video sparked my interest in bielsa, which has now turned into fandom, i am an equal admirer of leeds united and real madrid
This is incredible as Leeds fan people won't realise the impact this man has had on the club and the city itself. It's almost as if he and Leeds were made for each other.

So glad you updated the video to include his recent successes. Can't wait for the next video you teased about him. Fantastic work as always Tifo
Ahhhhh thank you I’ve beeeen waiting for this
I would like one day to see a video like this focusing on Pitso Mosimane, he's a South African coach doing the most in African football
