    I’m so impressed with this family. They could easily have left the island with the others but they chose to stay. That’s how you know their love for Siargao is real and not just for social media. I’m so proud of them.

    • @gerc.4263
      @gerc.4263 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I heard from the other comments..they've relocated..this is understandable since their child Story need clean, potable water.⛲ The island isn't the way its used to be.🏖 As vloggers they totally need internet & electricity..and it's nonexistent at this point in time in Siargao..⛵

    • @queenRlene
      @queenRlene 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Oh wow. I hadn’t heard that. I guess I spoke too soon. They did what’s best for them, I guess. I totally understand.

      They already left the island of Siargao via a free evacuation flight provided by the Philippine government.
      These are old videos taken during the first week after the typhoon left Siargao.
      They also mentioned about leaving the island during their last vlog.
      Their friends on the island already left during the first flights out provided by the government, so they have no choice but to also leave the island.
      Pretty understandable because electricity and other utilities will take almost a year to be rehabilitated.
      Majority of patients in Siargao hospital were confined due to water borne diseases.

      There living in Davao now , these videos are misleading

    • @aumarigan
      @aumarigan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      @@Sunmoon-gj9gy Nope. Not misleading. How do you expect them to upload their videos after the island lost electricity???
      They mentioned from their first video after the typhoon that the vlogs are delayed due to lack of electricity in the island.
      Even before the typhoon, foreign vloggers avoid posting videos in real time for security reasons. All of their vlogs are at least one week delayed if I am not mistaken. Sometimes their vlogs are three days delayed.

      Story is still happy helping her parents despite hardships after typhoon Siargao. I thought they will leave Siargao and transfer to other nice places in the Philippines.
      But together with the locals in the community, they choose to stay in Siargao and worked it out to meet both ends.
      God bless you JJ , Dha , Story and all the people of Siargao.

      Don't worry it will pass just like anything else. We experienced that too so many times in Albay, Bicol, typhoon Reming on November 30, 2006 was the worst, aside from heavy rains and super strong winds, we also had flashfloods of mud and boulders to deal with from Mayon volcano, where 2thousand plus lost their lives, some bodies not found maybe buried in mud, 267 of my relatives died that day, our place is located 1kilometer away from the slope of the volcano. Anyway we left the place and spend December in Manila, after New Year we went back fully loaded with positive energy and started rebuilding again with what was left.

    I just left a comment on the video you posted before this one. We are British but live in the Philippines and were in Cebu when Odete hit there.. I just heard you say you lived in Portugal before the Philippines!!! That’s crazy.. us too!! We lived in Portugal for ten years and then moved to the Philippines and actually live in Davao city!! We actually originally moved to the Philippines when my hubby and I first got married, 16 years ago but only stayed 6 months that time! Then we moved back here to the Philippines 4 years ago, are now back in Davao and are now staying here in the Philippines very long term. It’s great to have found you guys Chanel!

    Hey guys, Me and my wife have been watching you for about ten days now. We got this new video a few minutes ago. We enjoy watching your videos here in Birmingham, Alabama. We wanna come back to the Philippines when things get better. My wife is Filipino, she's from Negros Occidental and her hometown is La Castellina. You two seem to be a great married couple with your cute little daughter. After watching your videos, we want to check out Siargao on our next trip there, plus we wanna go to Palawan. We met two different bloggers back in 2018, one in Cebu and one in Dumaguete. Like they say, It's more fun in the Philippines. One thing I've noticed about you guys is, you seem genuine just like the Filipinos are and that's one reason I love the Filipino people. Keep your videos coming, Barry & Aming.....

    Adversity is the mother of Filipino's ingenuity and resourcefulness. No electric iron, we used charcoal fed iron; no NAWASA water, we used then deepwell water to wash dishes, clean the house and to take a bath; no light, we used then kerosene lamps and if you have the money, buy 4 stroke gasoline fed generator or if you want a silent operator, then buy solar panel fed lights, fans, radio, etc.; no LPG, we used concrete kalan fed with charcoal or paper-based kalan.

    Experiencing 22 storms a year is already normal for us. Watching your struggles is kind of refreshing. Brought me back to the old ways. Getting water from the well to do everything like laundry, cooking and etc. The key to Filipino resilience is being positive. Life is hard but if you take a moment to smile and be grateful for being alive, then everything will be lighter.

    It's nice to see that everything is going well there. I hope your landlady has some drums you can use to catch rain water. I survived for quite some time with this using it for bathing, washing clothes, cleaning and supply doesn't run out. I had 11 drums before they were all stolen.
    Maybe, you should also have a solar fan and a solar charger. Weather may be extremely hot at times. A mosquito net would also be useful. You may not have tried it but it's what we use before to drive away mosquitoes. In case gas runs out for cooking, firewood would do.
    By the way, coconut meat is delicious. We make salad out of it, just use a scraper or spoon to scoop it. It makes a delicious dessert.

    Good to see guys you are slowly adapting to what is around you and what is available. Start to basic as long as there is a source of food and water. I am very sure people who own Small grocery store will bring in supplies as long as there are still people in the island and commerce will be back again.

    I'm sorry this happened to you guys, but I'm glad you seems to be diing better. Seeing your reactions on the devastation is a wakeup call, at least for me. We Flipinos are resilient, but it doesn't mean we're okay when things like this happens. We need to help each other if we can.

    There is light at the end of the tunnel. 'Happy that we see those smiles. The positivity and hope radiate in your recent vlogs. Indeed, resiliency is one of the strong traits that Filipinos possessed and is awesome to see your family is adopting and learning. It's like a bamboo tree. Strong winds may batter it, but it will just bend but not break. It will just go with the flow of the wind. It will spring back stronger than the last time because the foundation is firm and deeply rooted in the ground. I'm excited to hear that Spotted Pig and Las Palmas will venture to form an NGO to rebuild the island. Combine this effort with other existing NGOs like Nature Kids of Siargao and us supporters, the island will spring and flourish back to life. Beautiful and stronger than before. In God's Infinite Grace, we will rebuild one day at a time and will rise as one. Wishing your family, a safe, bright and prosperous New Year.

    staying put and putting up these vlogs on these difficult times is opening up the Filipinos plight everytime we have these natural disasters. Hopefully it catches more eyes around the world that the suffering punches through one’s bones. And i feel for Sacha’s reaction about that convoy of vehicles just to accompany one VIP person. I would react the same way, It’s the state of politics in the Phil, they like ‘Wang-wangs’ and red carpet to announce their arrival, somebody tried to remove this before but now it’s back, waste of resource…pathetic and disgusting…more power to your family and hold on! your perseverance will not go to waste

    So sorry for the disaster you had and thankful your family made it, God bless you! Suggestion, I saw that well in the yard, that should help you do laundry and some shower by the well(minimizes trip of water fetching), just like our childhood days when we visited our grandparents in the province. I know things will be better later on, hang in there, you’ll make it! Take care…
