    Thanks sharing your top picks for over the counter retinols. I’ve been using the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle fragrance free, but seeing no visible results yet, but I know it takes time. I do also have the Moonlight Serum that I use once a week. Would you consider doing a video about at home red light treatments, or maybe just your opinion on it ? I’ve been using the Omnilux Red Light Mask, and have heard that some Derm Dr’s use that brand for in office treatments. I chose it because it’s FDA cleared. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to keep us informed. I really appreciate it ! ☺️☺️

Gentle cerave cleanser , La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0.1% Topical Retinoid and La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer for sensitive skin with niacinamide provides 48-hour hydration and prebiotic benefits for the skin barrier. I will start out slow with the retinol and go from there . I wear vanicream SPF 50 broad spectrum sunscreen everyday now . I live in Alaska .

    Hi Dr. Sugai. Wonderful video about Retinoids. A long while ago my Derm Dr. friend (I'm not her patient) threw me a tube of Tretinoin .05% for my face. Had no problems with it at all. She said I don't need it but "what the hell". I want to start early preventing lines and wrinkles.. But then my sensitive neck.....OMG. So she told me to start with moisturizer first, then she gave me a Retinol and that worked great to put on top of the moisturizer. Did that for a couple of months and then she turned me onto the Mae Love Moonlight Retinaldehyde for my neck and she told me to put it all the way down to my "Ta Tas" lol. Everything is working great with Vit C and sunscreen in the morning and the Retinoids at night. Thank you Dr. Sugai for a great video!

    Many dermatologist highly recommend staying away from products with fragrance, but you recommended the Neutrogena retinol serum with fragrance. I tried it and the fragrance is strong and quite off-putting. I wonder why Neutrogena continues to put fragrance in their products when the industry trend has been to stay away from fragrances. Otherwise the Neutrogena line seems solid.

    Hey Dr. Sugai! What are your thoughts on using 1) an over the counter retinoid (like CeraVe RS) on sensitive areas like neck and around the eyes and 2) a prescription retinoid for the rest of the face? Is there any risk that the two types “cancel” out one another?

    • @miznaali7329
      @miznaali7329 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it will not cancel each other I do the same and many dermatologist do so. I don't use around the eyelids as my eyelids are really sensitive if you can tolerate around the eyes you can use it with no issues, but I use retinol on my neck back of the hands and tretinoin on rest of the face.

      Use vitamin E oil 32iu and higher. I don't believe in eye creams as many research says, same thing u use for skin that is safe on face can be applied around the eye. Be careful when it comes to retinal and retinol...😊 peptides and moisturizer all have same ingredients as an eye cream. Just waste of money

    Can retinaldehyde cause dry eyes? I have been using tretinoin for 5 years now. My eyes have been incredibly dry for the past couple years. I couldn't figure out why for the longest time. Then I realized it's tretinoin I've been using. I 've heard that retinaldehyde won't cause dry eyes and is safe to use around the eyes. Is that true?

    • @NicePerson58
      @NicePerson58 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, Adapalene is recommended by lots of dermatologists. But since it's FDA aproved only for acne, there is not much data to say that it can be used for anti aging. But luckily there ate some studies that show that adapalene can help remove sun damage, but still tretinoin has the most evidence and data to back up the anti aging claim. Don't be hesitant using adapalene for your hands, give it a try

    If maelove moonlight serum doesn't give me any sensitivity or irritation does that mean it's not strong enough for me? i stopped retin-a recently bc of irritation after years of flakey irritation and started the maelove instead.

    Every year when I go to the dermatologist for my yearly exam I ask for a prescription for trentonoin(sp), but they never give me a prescription, they just sell me a cream that they sell in their office. I'm assuming it cannot be as strong as a prescription retin A.

    I've been using retinol for years now i want to try something little stronger, is there any tretinoin which is available without prescription

    I've been using Absorica Rétinal, which is made by the pharmaceutical company Galephar. It's not at all a fancy cream like the ones made by companies that make cosmetics primarily, it has a kind of medicinal scent without any fragrance added, but it's really good and cheap, at least if you live in Europe it's cheap to order. I pay €12 for a 30ml tube that lasts about 4 months in my use when used on face, neck, décolleté and the back of my hands, but it has shelf life of 6 months after opening. It has 0.1% retinal. I use it around my eyes too, and I've never gotten irritation from it like from some retinol products, just great results!

    what retinoid is good for me?…My concerns are my scarring, uneven skin texture, sensitive skin, both and oily and dry skin, and some acnes.
    Note: Am a beginner😭
    Is retinol serum recommended or the retinol cream or an adapelene?

    What are your thoughts about online prescription services for tretinoin (Agency, Apostrophe, etc.)? I see a lot of influencers recommend them but I've yet to see a dermatologist mention them in any videos that discuss retinoids for anti-aging benefits.

    • @TallWillow1
      @TallWillow1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Given what he and other derms have said about the risks of irritation and damaging the skin barrier, I wouldn't want to use a prescription retinoid without a dermatologist monitoring it.
      I've had really good results with OTC retinol for anti-aging and helping with sun damage.

      I can make a video on my thoughts but in general, I don’t like it from efficacy standpoint as well as lack of monitoring from a board certified dermatologist. It’s a great question 🙏🏼🤙

      @@michelletidler6773 I've been using the Paula's Choice Skin-Smoothing Retinol Body Treatment (mostly on my face and upper chest.) Another dermatologist's channel recommended the Versed body retinol as a less-expensive dupe for the PC version and I plan to try that when my current bottle runs out.
