I'm so glad you added that bit on the end directed toward teens and the fact that all they need is a good cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen (unless they need a retinoid for acne, in addition). Don't make it complicated, kids. I blame tik tok. :( So many harmful skincare trends aimed towards our easily-manipulated teens. I only watch youtube, so I don't know what your presence is on tik tok - but I hope teens are watching you if you are there. Thank you.

Glad I came across this video. I just purchased my first Maelove product of The Glow Maker. Maybe it’s just me but it left my skin feeling bouncy (I have dry skin in the winter and combo in the summer) so let’s see how it works long term.

I’ve been using it for nearly 2 weeks and I can definitely see a different in the overall brightness of my skin. I keep mine in the fridge and apply it every morning. I love that it isn’t too watery and really spreads nicely over skin.

I'm 62 and have been using The Glow Maker since it's launch. I also use Maelove Moonlight serum. I love both and are my 2 favorite actives. I keep Glow Maker for 3-4 months then order a new one.

I've been using this for 3 years my last bottle I purchased in December I believe they have changed this product. It always made my face feel tight and my skin feel great it's just not the same.
I love this product, but I don’t like to order it during the hot summer months as they say I It can oxidize with heat and sun so now that cooler weather is here I will definitely be ordering us. I have ordered it before and it really is that great.

I've been using timeless for about a year and a half. I love it. Sometimes when I'm at Walmart, I get the Cereve vitamin c. It's alright but I don't like how it seems to feel sticky and it doesn't seem to dry enough for me to put on the next item I use in the morning. I found this in an article about the best serums for 2022. Has anyone tried Naturoum vitamin c serum? I was wondering if the 22%is too high?

I love The Glowmaker and Timeless. I keep mine in the fridge and use up within a month or 2. Remember this made fresh Vitamin C serums do not last for months so don't bother stocking up extra bottles.

I just received mine after seeing Maelove on Instagram like you said so many people love it and its just hard to know whats real if it works and after seeing you on Instagram and your a Dermatologist I knew it must be good and what it says it is. I got the Glow Maker and the Night Renewer since they said those 2 are good together. Do they have a daytime moisturizer too? Hey doc I was suggesting to use a salicylic acid wash before using tretinoin. Salicylic acid and tretinoin shouldn’t be used together. But I find it’s not irritating at all. So if I use salicylic acid face wash once a day before tretinoin will it eliminate the efficacy of tretinoin?

Hi Dr. Sugai, Glad you did a review on the Maelove Vit. C serum. I use their Moonlight Serum and really like it, just wish it wasn’t neon yellow ! One question for you. Would using the Moonlight Serum long term help lighten dark spots just as much as a Vit C serum would ?
I realize they both do different things for the skin, but wish I could get those stubborn sun damage spots on my face to fade more. Probably should be using both, but I’m in NV, so not ordering any C online in the summer months. I’m afraid the extreme heat will oxidize it.
Wish the company would ship their Vit. C with ice packs, but that wouldn’t be very cost effective for them to do. Thanks again for the review, and taking the time to try it out. ☺️☺️

You and Dr Dray are my favorite derms to watch. Dr Dray sometimes says vitamin C is overrated and doesn’t get the craze. So good to know that amber color is a sign of oxidation! Btw Have you tried regimen skincare? Curious what your thoughts might be. Thanks doc!

Dr. Dray is over rated. dermatologists like Dr Shaw & Dr Max Field, Dr Ann.... Dr Dray is a joke.
So right now my skincare routine is cleans with La Roche Toleraine, Thayers Milky Hydrating toner and moisturize with either am/pm CeraVe. Can I add this into my routine right before I moisturize? I'm 47, I currently have dry skin, wrinkles, and acne.

I'm not sure what to invest in right now. I bought an expensive sirum the sente contour firming for two about 3 months I'm not sure if I should continue it it's about $200 and financially I can't afford it. I don't know if it's worth it or the Zo brand to revision brand in compare them to more affordable ones so I can continue to buy. Can vitamin C help reduce redness on skin caused by healed plaque psoriasis? My plaque psoriasis is gone and the skin feels smooth but there's still slight light red color.

I use a vitamin C serum of some kind daily, wear spf 30-50 but rarely in the sun. Why are my dark spots (post-inflammatory erythema) so stubborn? I keep waiting for C to give me a “glow” but it never happens.
Hi doctor! I really hope you see this and reply! I've recently started investing in skincare products and bought this Maelove product, along with The Ordinary hyaluronic acid. However my question for you is, is it necessary to use both in my morning skincare routine if the vitamin c already contains HA? The moisturizer I use ALSO contains HA so I don't know if that's overload for my skin as it's dry and sensitive. Hopefully you can help me out! Thank you!

Yeah. Of what I understand if your moisturizer has HA it could potentially dry out your skin more because it needs another barrier to lock it in. If not, the moisture in the air will pull from your skin and make it drier. 😢

I have a question on how to layer vitamin c. I know it has a low ph so after you put it on use a toner or essence with correct ph lvl then apply water serums (the ordinary peptides) but what im confused about is vit c is oil based so how will you water serums penetrate the skin? A mini-review on effectiveness: I used the Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum for about three years; while it got rid of some rough skin and a tiny amount of hyperpigmentation, it didn't do much else. About six months ago I switched to Maelove Glow Serum and after a month I saw a significant increase in overall softness and a major decline in hyperpigmentation. If you're new toVitamin C or have very sensitive skin, the Mad Hippie can be a great, milder starter product, but for experienced users or folks without sensitive skin, the Maelove gets down to business.

Just got mine today. And it wasn’t this yellow. It was barely noticeable.
Is it beneficial to still use a salicylic or glycolic acid to prep the skin for a Vitamin C serum? Or does the ferulic acid already do that?
If I may add I would avoid using them because vitamin c is slightly acidic so when you prep with another acid it can cause irritation.

These Vitamin C serums are still insanely overpriced. The ingredients aren't that expensive. 30 Dollars for, what, 30 ml? This is 1000 Dollars per liter! And the first ingredient is still water! The next highest ingredient is Ascorbic Acid at 15%, wich means ever ingredient after that is below 15%, probably well below. I can get 100g of pure Ascorbic Acid powder for 2 Euros (roughly equals 2 Dollars). 100g! This serum contains 15g per 100ml, sort og 5 g per bottle! That would be, like less then 20 Cents for the main active ingredient, Vitamin C. And this is calculating with the retail price. The company will be getting it for much less.
I estimate that the production cost for this "serum" is less than 3 Dollars per bottle, including the bottle itself and the labelling. May be four, heck, let's say 5, including a nice box with nice print on it. They charge you 6 to 10 times their cost! That's a profit margin of 85-90%. Tell me that's not insane! Tell me that is not preying on people insecurities and fear of aging. Tell me that's not like snake oil salesmen.
And do we need to talk about Skinceuticals? 169? That's up there with printer ink as the most expensive liquid. It's one tenth of the price of gold going by mass. Remember. The main ingredient is still purified water! And the next highest ingredient is less than 20 cents worth of Vit. C.!
If you think it's expensive, don't buy it - no one is forcing you. It's not just an ingredient, it's the formula, and everything that goes into making it and getting it to your door. Buy your powder if you want.
But yes, skinceuticals is a complete rip off (and a horrible brand). Maelove and naturium are quite decently priced though.
As the commentor above me said: you are not paying for the raw ingredients but for the formulation that makes it *stable* and at the correct pH to be absorbed and effective on the skin (and to not oxidize and be useless over time).
Ps. Skinceuticals also has research to show that its formulation is effective. Which most brands do not.

I was prescribed dapsone 7.5 percent gel and was told to use it for long term
I can’t tolerate benzoyl peroxide and azelaic acid no matter what form.
I use tretinoin at night and dapsone at morning under spf
My question is can I use it for long term without the risk of bacterial resistance? Many dermatologist including dr dray and my treating derm thinks that bacterial resistance to topical dapsone isn’t recorded and can be used for long term
