Great idea and as an older guy I will come up with something like this. Really like the winch board being clamped down as opposed to bolted. I have a hard cover on my truck. I struggle loading and this would eliminate that. Thanks.
Just got a pond prowler 10 and I've taken it out 4 times in the past 12 days. I'm (fortunately) a rather big guy and I have no problem lifting the boat into the flatbed and then pushing it in. But yes, I am getting older and I wont have this physique forever. This seems like a good idea. Oh, btw, I'm in the TH-cam rabbit hole of Pond Prowler custom upgrades now!
Awesome! There were times after a long day on the lake, I just put the board in the water and just winched the PP in. I don’t care what anyone says, I’ll save my back. Have fun with your new toy…the options are unlimited!
Pretty sick! But for those of us who don’t have what you do…get your truck close to the water leave 3/4 of your boat in the water and lift…allow the water to be a significant help while loading after a long day of fishing
Hey pal. Scott Barnes again. Love your idea on loading your boat. What gauge wire did you use to your battery. I bought the harbor freight 2000lb winch and need to purchase wire. Thanks for your time
I like this idea alot. Im doing it myself right now. Could you please tell me what the peice is called that you attach the winch to on your boat? Thank you in advance
Beautiful! I am imagining a pivot system for the boards in the truck itself that would force the motion that you seem to get already. (imagine a rod going across the truck bed that would go in the open section between the 2x8 and 2x10.) But if this works, why over complicate things? I'm thinking of using something similar for my fishing kayak. Thanks for the inspiration!
This is in my driveway for demonstration. In the real world this occurs at the lake and not on pavers. You are going to have to drag it anyway…whether it’s by this method or not. Thanks for the comment.
@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 I do have rollers (harbor freight) that I wheel it around on at home. At the lake, the board goes right into the water, so the boat never touches the ground.
I have see lots of videos on loading and unloading but haven’t seen any on landing from the truck to the water and back to the truck from the water any suggestions or videos any were. Thanks
Nice video. After you loaded the boat and put your red safty flags on did you secure that board somehow? Looks like you just pushed it in without any securement it will eventually slide out if not secured somehow.
When I watched this I thought to myself I bet he can fix anything in his house. Lol. Great job.
Jack of all trades, master of none! 😜

So true! Thanks for the comment!
That is about the coolest load i have ever seen. Wish i had found this before i got a trailer. Nice job
Thank you!
Great video, how do you secure the boards after loading the boat?

Sorry for the delay. I used 8 gauge wire.

I just used a large heavy duty eye bolt with metal backing plates on both sides of the transom.
That’s so smart!
Thank you! Worked for me…it’s not for everyone…but definitely saved my back.
Genius!

Awesome! Let me know what you come up with!
Awesome bud
Awesome 👏
Do you have a video on how you launch your boat in the water? Do you use dollies? Thx
I don't have any videos, but the concept is the same. The board goes just into the water and the pond prowler slides off into the water.
Sliding the rear bottom on the driveway will eventually wear a hole in the bottom.😊

@@JadedAngler you could add wheels to the rear of the boat for ease of getting it around once at the lake. 😀

I'd use a Harbor Freight moving dolly to protect it. Simple fix
@@larryswindell5906 That’s exactly what I used…just not in the video.
Do you just use a trolling motor or do you have an outboard? Trying to decide on one if these or a kayak
I just used a trolling motor with dual batteries.
Can pond prowlers go on lakes? Or just ponds? Want to get one to take my son fishing.
Yes, I fished with this thing on Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake in the US.
How does the piece of wood come out when you back in now?
And also how is the wind choke to the board
It just slides in and out. I secure it with a tie down.
need something like this to load ice fishing sled packed with gear on truck bed :P
I would imagine it would work the same!
I have see lots of videos on loading and unloading but haven’t seen any on landing from the truck to the water and back to the truck from the water any suggestions or videos any were. Thanks
I don’t have any videos showing it…but this is the exact method I use. Imagine the board going into the water
We NEED to see this!!!!@@JadedAngler

Sorry, just saw this post. I use a rope and tie it through the board and attach it to the handles on the back of the prowler.
That’s smart
Thank you!
Badass👏👏
Thank you!
I’m thinking about getting a Pond Prowler. Does the plastic get damaged by dragging it?
I typically have it on rollers…unless at the lake. Then it goes right into the water.
run a permanent power supply from your battery so you don't have keep hooking and unhooking cables. less chance you'll trip on them
Tripping I did, for sure.
How did you build the winching board and pulley setup
Did you get any info on your question
wont the board fall off when you are driving down the highway?
I have a hole drilled through it at the tail end. I run a rope through it and tie each end off to the handles on the Pond Prowler.
What Pulleys are you using?
These are the pulleys I used. Really just guides to keep the cable off of the wood.
do you the winch to unload slowly?
No, but I do use the board. It slides right off.
Nice thought but your scraping part of the boat on the ground
More than a thought…it works for me. Of course it’s scraping the ground.
Don’t take it personal I was just saying it’s not good to scrape plastic on the ground.
Also your decking job looks nice!
Is that an 8 or 10 foot prowler?
Same question.
