- FIRST DRIVE: The Niro is completely changed for 2023 a Kia has something for everyone. This Niro EV competes with the Toyota BZ4X & VW ID.4. On the outside you will notice all new sheet metal, grill LED lighting and wheels. On the inside there is a more spacious interior, eco-friendly materials and over 22in of screen display. Joe! The "charger" you mentioned I believe it's the vehicle to load plug. Yes you plug in other things to it, but it's to draw power from the car, appreciate that you spend lots of time on the details. Btw, way too much piano black on the front....
This is the perfect full EV for a first time buyer. Good range, normal feeling interior, and decent price.
That infotainment might be the very first in any car brand literally ever to be as responsive as a smartphone. That actually surprised me when I first saw it because porsche/audi/acura/etc don’t even

I had a 2018 and always thought it was ugly although it was a great car. This reminds me of a Honda from the back.

I work at a kia dealership in charlotte north carolina. I really like the niro A LOT! Even their sedans are nice too. I wonder when they will reveal the k5 hybrid.

We went for the hybrid, we had the 2017 Kia Niro and it was a really good car. He really missed the mark on the price though, much cheaper. Our 2023 Kia Niro hybrid is really nice, we are getting around 51 mpg when its above 50 degrees, in bitter cold (0 degrees) about 37 mpg. For our needs we will go through about 100 gallons a year. Can't beat that for such a nice driving car, and only at 34K.
I just got this yesterday. They had it marked down like $8k. I would like to have Wi-Fi option. I would also like video all the way around instead of just backup. I would also like a little more miles and a little quicker charging. I think we are gonna love it.
According to what they’ve shown for other countries, the gray trim is EV exclusive (not available on HEV and PHEV). And only available paired with white. Other colors have black.
Contrasting aero blade is an upcharge/option.
Also, other outlets have stated that the Niro EV’s torque off the line is purposefully limited (until 30 mph).
I love the silver finished trim on the bottomvof the Niro.
It does look nicer than flat black.
That price is crazy! I remember my brothers 2017 hybrid niro was $24k fully loaded out the door. I know it wasn’t electric but still, Times have changed.

Very decent entry level EV with nice interior details for that group that don't require long distance coverage. There's other models EV if we need 300 miles or more distance from an EV.
It doesn't feel entry level. I'm renting a previous model to this one and it is well equipped and feels like a standard car. However, it's really quiet, solid and has quite a comfortable ride over bumps. Almost a luxury ride. You barely feel any of them.

In my opinion this would be the perfect mainly city but also day tripping EV if it is priced well AND if the charging speed was closer to 150KW. Hopefully next year or so they can increase the charging speed. It looks like a great size for urban driving with 2 kids in the back.

the fact you can charge in quick 25 minutes makes this alot more accessible to more people who may use this as a long road trip vehicle. KIA is knocking it out of the park. all i ask is that they offer options in the future for killer sound systems. since ev vehicles are generally quiet inside, i wanna take advantage of that and rock out every chance i get. So car companies.......start making it happen!

Different design and sort of appealing to people looking to get an EV. I would like to see a 4wd of that vehicle. 👍
there are so many things that hurt with that the price to me is was to high for a kia most people cant afford that and them charge times are just to long still (hopefully that changes with time) but they really need to find a way to make these things more affordable if they are going to force a switch

Really liking the style of the new Niro Ev, but not gonna deny that it's gonna be tough against the US built ID.4 or Bolt, because of the price and of course the $7,500 federal EV rebate
iD.4 is a failure. The Bolt EUV seems to be a good buy but is max charging rate is from 2013.. This new Niro will compete against other electric cars from Kia such as the EV6
@@mamadouaziza2536 Why do you say that? Not saying that it couldn't be true, But I'm curious. Yes the early models are plagued with bugs in the software, some very serious. But it seems that the new software is a lot better than the original build. Some users are commenting that they have received notifications about an update soon. The ID.4 is near the top of our list and would love to know of others that have experience with the car. Thanks in advance!

The pricing on these makes zero sense. I was reading where well equipped hybrid and PHEV trims were pushing 36K and 40K respectively, and they remain glacially slow in terms of acceleration. There’s a lot of competition at the prices they’re asking for these, including models from inside the Kia/Hyundai family itself
Love the energy in your reviews Joe! One note, @25:25 is the vehicle to load (VTL) adapter, not the charging adapter.
A living bee proves that it is eco-friendly. I have a reason to buy.
Considering this is a gen 2 EV, it should be priced around where the Bolt EUV is. If this retains the old pricing, it's not going to be worth it in my opinion.
I'm impressed with this car and its weight.
I wonder how Kia using steel/aluminum, motors in the seats, motor in the sun roof,.motor in the rear hatch, the heavy battery, normal size tires and keep the weight at 3000 lbs???
BMW used plastics all over including the body panels and frame,, smaller battery, skinny tires, no motors in the seats, no motorized rear hatch and many versions of their electric car had no sun roof but yet their car was 3000 lbs as well...

I just leased one of these love it but i have to say its slower than my 2020 especially of the line and the climate control and radio control in one is horrible every time i turn the volume up a part of my finger touches the auto climate control on🤦🏻 very bad design on that otherwise i love car

The pricing makes 0 sense if you’re correct. That puts it in the same category as the EV6 which the EV6 is a better option in pretty much every way. Hyundai redesigned their Kona EV and it’s the competitor to the niro and it’s starting at $35k. I would think it would be around that price range starting. Just makes no sense. Niro is a nice car but it’s not $45k nice.

So Joe as far as the outside goes I ain't digging it too much. Don't like the front lights or the taillights think they are way to wonky and over futuristic. The side panel I get where they were going with it, I think it's out of place. But the interior is pretty nice but god forbid if I ever was forced to get an EV if it was from KIA I'll give the EV6 a try. Thanks Joe 👍
