As someone from Europe I find it really odd to hear someone calling a 4.5 m long vehicle "tiny". For me a "tiny" car should have 3.7 m or less in length. Anything over 4 m is "normal" sized.
Totally! 4.5 meters is standard length for a family car like a Corolla or a Focus. But in the USA the Corolla is not a family car, it’s a “compact” And the American “full size” cars are “insanely huge” in European terms :)
@@OlegAryutkin there is a lot of personal insecurity problems in America too, so people try to fill it by driving giant gas guzzlers. Which sucks because they take off really extremely slow no matter how hard the gas pedal is slammed and it is a pain to have one in front of you at a stop light.
Hi Doug. Just a small comment about the front space. Most people I know, including myself, who have EV's, use it to have their charging cables easily accessible- so you never have to empty your rear trunk if you need your cables en route (also they will not just slide around in the rear if you have no other items in the rear. So actually a GREAT place to keep your cables. I suspect we are perhaps most used to charge from AC "slow" charging stations in the cities in Europe, where you hardly ever find super chargers, and therefore need you cables- perhaps everyday.

Wait what if I have a picture of someone's face to open the car. Is it smart enough to know the difference. I know inside needs a finger print but is the door handle also a finger print sensor?
@@h.m.8589 Yes, it's smart enough to know the difference - it's a near-infrared sensor. No, the sensor in the door handle is not also a fingerprint detector.
Take note Tesla, this is how you do an interior. The GV60 makes the Model Y's interior look like a Geo Metro. Genesis has been on an absolute roll lately!
White interiors don't age well at all, any other colour would probably work better. There are way too many gimmicks as well. Can't wait for the day when all these tech breaks or becomes outdated.
I would use a frunk for two reasons. It would have to be a powered frunk or at least have a latch release on the outside as well as no interior lid plus be deeper than this one. 1. To put groceries so they will not slide all over. 2. To stow the charging cord on road trips when the back is full of stuff.
@Paul what does Toyota have? Those stuck gas pedals and those “power assisted braking” where you can brake the car once? Yeah just watched a video few days ago about that. It’s called Toyota’s $2.3B mistake.
Wasn’t certainly expecting the GV60! I just picked up a ‘22 Genesis G70 Sport Prestige with the 3.3T AWD TT V6 last month (literally on the 30th), but this looks amazing! Genesis have really been killing it lately! Can’t wait for the Kona N review :)
Man this car is legitimately quite nice and does a great job in taking the car industry forward imo, esspecially at its price point if it sells for what they say... Really makes you wonder what cars will be like 10 years from now.
It starts, starts at $60k and looks like an up-badged Hyundai Kona. I don’t like the Model Y but man it starts at substantially less and appears to be the same size if not bigger.
Kinda crazy how the same platform being reused for 2 other models that i also like a lot, and now this third one is added to that. I like the EV6's back, the Ioniq 5's retro styling, and i like the lighting situation on the GV60 and backside a lot, very cool stuff.
On that removable cargo floor, where the right side can lift up by itself to access the lower floor, there's a loop on the underside of the cargo floor, which leads me to believe you can flip the removable cargo floor over, and use that small door to access the left side, if you choose. That level of configurability is amazing.
Actually, on the right side, what you thought was a speaker is a fragrance diffuser. On the left it is used to adjust mirrors, but on the right they wanted symmetry and thus added the diffuser.
I really liked this car. Contrary to Doug I think it is really luxurious inside. It easily beats most of other cars in this segment when interior design, quality and materials are considered. Genesis is becoming more and more appealing to me with every new car and I think that after initially offering only sedans (which actually were ok) they are on the right track, cars have distinct and appealing styling, interior is top notch. It all reminds me of the path that Lexus took in the 90's and it seems currently Genesis is on the road to repeat its success. Sadly in Europe, where I live, Genesis is almost non existent and on this basis it actually reminds me more of Infiniti or Acura and the only times I have seen Genesis on the road was the same G90 with South Korean flags that's belonging to Embassy of South Korea in my country.

Regarding the cargo area floor panel that lifts up: My Impala and Chrysler 300 both have that. There's a small cargo area in front of the spare tire well that can be accessed under the floor panel. I keep my jumper cables in there.
I reverse in to every space, so a frunk that opens remotely would be extremely useful to me. It would also be the perfect home for charging cables for front charging cars.
But why aren't you using yours? On both my i3S and IONIQ 5 I use my frunk to store charging cable, home plug cable, washer fluid, emergency kits etc. I don't have to clutter the back with those...
It looks cool, with a lot of interesting little things. I like Hyundai/Kia they're not afraid of innovations. They may be one of the only major brands left after the transition to electric
it would've made a lot more sense for them to have put a fingerprint sensor on the door handle rather than force you to stare at your B pillar to get in. not sure if it's a logistical issue or they weren't allowed to use biometric unlocking unless they had 2 factor authentication
Sorry if this posted twice but I completely agree. It’s almost like the tech should have been reversed. Use a finger to get in and facial recognition via a small sensor integrated at the top of the steering wheel or speedo area to start the car.
my guess is debris that make the fingerprint sensors difficult on the exterior. can train the camera to look for multiple authentication points and avoid debris
Facial recognition to unlock your car and finger print technology to start is a prime example of how insanely we've advanced with technology over not only the past 20 years, but over the past five to 10 years. That's astounding, and we'll take it for granted like we would any new tech nowadays. I'm a millenial and it leaves me in awe, but to my boomer dad this is just mind blowing. As he says, "Man I love living in the future".
This car is gorgeous (except the rims). I disagree with Doug, this is better looking than a Mache-E or Model Y. Hyundai / Kia / Genesis are killing it lately with design and technology. Where i see the facial recognition being useful is if you go do a water sport and don't want to carry the key for obvious reasons, this is a great alternative.
It is much better looking than them and unless you want to spend much more dollars is just as fast. Only thing is that it is not very sportily tuned the susspension, I have not drivven a Mach E but suposedly they are a decent handler
I really like it. Nice to see something different. I own a Hyundai Veloster, they’ve just announced they’re no longer making them anymore. When I seen this car, I really felt there are some design nods to the Veloster :)
That's not a speaker on the passenger door. That's the interior scent dispenser. If you twist it, it'll come off and you can change the interior scent.
Imagine the dealerships hassle when they notice and have to unprogram Doug's face from the door sensor :D Edit: btw, this car looks great, and in general Genesis have really been on the top of their game with their recent line-up, i'd definitely consider one even though i am a hardcore Mercedes fanboy.
@21:05 I actually use my front trunk a lot to put my backpack in which fits perfectly. I’d argue that the market research saying people don’t use the frunk is due to the fact that none of them are power operated. If they were power open and close more people would use them
You're right. The major driving factor to not letting frunk usable is the manual opening/closing. Some people also don't like to leave fingerprints on the surface.
Wow!! This is all I have been waiting for this one and also thanks Doug for reviewing and POV test driving in my favorite All-electric crossover SUV from Genesis.
I have 3 Teslas (each with front trunks obviously) and while it's true that I don't open them often - you'd be wrong to assume they don't get used. I keep my mobile charger, charging adapters, extension cord, first aid kit, and any other "car" stuff in there. This is actually REALLY nice because it keeps my normal trunk free of those things that I need to have with me, but don't need very often.
i'm surprised we still have actual keys. Love the fingerprint and face id Not too crazy about the design. Looks pretty ordinary IMO, compared to ionq or ev6.. looks like a standard gas car...
After all this years i'm still amazed that some people just LOVE the idea of having their most valuable information (biometrics) on devices that have dogshit security (if they even have security at all). If companies like Samsung, Sony and Google don't care about it what makes you think that car manufacturers will?
The comment on the luxurious feel isn’t applicable if the vehicle is optioned with the Nappa Leather Seat Pack - which gives Nappa Leather seats, suede headlining, suede A/B/C pillars, suede sunvisors, aluminium interior garnish, leatherette dashboard and suede door centre garnish. Also virtually all the trim which looks like metal is metal. The Bang and Olufsen Audio system with 17 speakers and active road noise cancellation is also amazing.

또한 the interior is not just weird, the center tunnel bit where the crystal gear shift is its all metal, maybe its hard to realise that on a summer day but its icy to touch, the interior materials and features blow blow blow away the GV70, back seats recline and adjust in many ways for example and get 2 cup holders per seat in the back alomg with 2 ac outlets per seat in the back one each side of each back seat, it is on another level.
Doug the type of guy to scratch the hell out that key!
I cringed when he did that. And the car is on loan! I can imagine them like, "I get why you wanted to demonstrate this feature, but did you really have to slide it across the parking lot to do so?" lol
10:02 I think that speaker looking thing is for the fragrance dispenser so it can perfume the car but maybe it's different on the Performance model? Idk but I do like the key it definitely looks better than the regular black plastic other cars have 😃
You are correct. It is used for the air diffuser.
same as normal model,
performance model also have air diffuser
on that spot!
Match a custom fragrance with Tesla fart mode and...
I've test driven the car. It comes with two key fobs - the white one Doug showed is incredibly cheap, hollow-feeling plastic, and the black one is rubberized and expensive-feeling. No idea why they thought this was necessary... they could have at least made the white one out of the same material as the black one.
@@lvjb that's really weird, I don't know why they'd go through the trouble especially if both are basically the same key. It's a shame the white key is so cheap it looked pretty nice in the video
As someone from Europe I find it really odd to hear someone calling a 4.5 m long vehicle "tiny". For me a "tiny" car should have 3.7 m or less in length. Anything over 4 m is "normal" sized.
10m is long to Americans.
Naaah everything below 4m is small in my opinion.
As someone in the USA, I'd say we have a warped sense of size.
Totally! 4.5 meters is standard length for a family car like a Corolla or a Focus. But in the USA the Corolla is not a family car, it’s a “compact”
And the American “full size” cars are “insanely huge” in European terms :)
@@OlegAryutkin there is a lot of personal insecurity problems in America too, so people try to fill it by driving giant gas guzzlers. Which sucks because they take off really extremely slow no matter how hard the gas pedal is slammed and it is a pain to have one in front of you at a stop light.
I just drove 7 hours from VA to NJ to buy one of these. Love it so far. The charging time to 80% is quick!
It's a fairly good time to be alive ! Granted you get excited over how we have progressed as individuals, there honestly is not many BAD choices around in 2023 , competition is beyond what any individual ever expected and well we all reap the benefits! Enjoy and love life! ❤️
Pretty crazy I can own a 5.8l pushing 600hp and then also own a EV pushing 500 and getting 200+ miles range. What a time to be alive man
This makes a Tesla look basic af.
They already do lol
People used to find them "futuristic" and now i just think they look like jelly beans and eggs
This genesis definitely has a unique look and I dig it
@@aye3678 because it is
The infotainment screen. Doug may not like it but I'm sure a lot of people like myself will love the simplicity of it
The fact that I see Teslas every 30 seconds on a roads, I would never buy it. Too common..BUT, GV60 is a rare gem. Unique, stylish and very fast!
This, unironically, is the most beautiful modern EV I have seen
Love all the unique tech in this like the face recognition and fingerprint scan. Bravo Hyundai!
@Bring me baguette as an offering, mortal! That, and also it is not a very cutting edge technology. Okay it is for automotive industry but smartphones can do this for like 5-6 years. I mean Redmi 4x from 2017 has a fingerprint sensor.
I gotta say Genesis’ recent lineup looks pretty good.
Genesis is impressing the crap out of me
Doug I think you should bring back the breakdown of the Doug Score. It was nice to see you opinions on each category.
Hey Doug, great video! just wanted to say that your video about the CarMax max care you did a while back... was shown during training lol.
The glove tray is great..easier to find things. In Korea the passenger back seat is the boss’s seat, thus the front seat controls. Totally use the Frunk on my 70D.
That glove box is genius. Simple but genius.
Is nobody gonna talk about how he threw the key across the pavement probably scratching it up lol
Reviews like this, where the scores are really close, really highlight why the longer-form DougScore explanation was great. Seeing just the scores with a five-second summary that addresses practically none of them is fairly disheartening.
Point is many of the cars are great. It’s personal preference.
0-60 in 3.4 is optimistic. I've seen many reviews doing 3.9.
And that "speaker" on the pax door is a scent dispenser.
Doug takes 0-60 numbers from a script. He even put this as fater than BMW i4 M50 which will demolish this genesis in any drag race.
Take note Tesla, this is how you do an interior. The GV60 makes the Model Y's interior look like a Geo Metro. Genesis has been on an absolute roll lately!
A white steering wheel seems like a bad idea.
White interiors don't age well at all, any other colour would probably work better. There are way too many gimmicks as well. Can't wait for the day when all these tech breaks or becomes outdated.
@@damilolaakanni I've never understood white interiors. They look great when they're new and clean, but they get dirty so easily.
The Geo Metro reference actually made me laugh!
I would use a frunk for two reasons. It would have to be a powered frunk or at least have a latch release on the outside as well as no interior lid plus be deeper than this one. 1. To put groceries so they will not slide all over. 2. To stow the charging cord on road trips when the back is full of stuff.
Hyundai/Genesis have come so far !! Looks like an amazing car !
@Paul 😂 I heard that’s patented by Tesla
@Paul what does Toyota have? Those stuck gas pedals and those “power assisted braking” where you can brake the car once? Yeah just watched a video few days ago about that. It’s called Toyota’s $2.3B mistake.
@Paul I'm pretty sure all major EVs by now have had issues with fires, no need to be so negative.
never thought I'd say anything positive about a Hyundai but I *LOVE* the wheel design
I got in this model at my dealership and I loved it. Very smooth and great design.
The Hyundai ioniq 6 was shown off recently. Can't wait for for Doug's review of that one
And the Cadillac Lyriq
@@matthewbowen5841 yeah I saw that car recently too. looks cool
I hope Genesis honors their warranty because Hyundai is notorious of blowing off customers.
Genesis has been destroying the competition, at least in design. The new G70 is a gorgeous sports sedan, I’m a bit jealous! Congrats
@@johnnybravo5044 Indeed. G90 owner got blown off already. Their warranty is .txt, not .exe
@@yichuanniu1851 Wow, that sucks!
Buyer Beware
I saw this parked and thought it looked pretty sleek. I like the direction they’re going with designs!
I can’t believe Doug slid the brand new key across the asphalt. You can see the scratches when he shows the key later. Love you, Doug! 😂😂😂
I never watched a car review video without skipping, you are the first one, good job, legit good review
Man this car is legitimately quite nice and does a great job in taking the car industry forward imo, esspecially at its price point if it sells for what they say...
Really makes you wonder what cars will be like 10 years from now.
It starts, starts at $60k and looks like an up-badged Hyundai Kona. I don’t like the Model Y but man it starts at substantially less and appears to be the same size if not bigger.
imagine the scratches key got when doug slided it on the asphalt
don’t have to imagine, just look: 8:39. Not cool, Doug
Kinda crazy how the same platform being reused for 2 other models that i also like a lot, and now this third one is added to that.
I like the EV6's back, the Ioniq 5's retro styling, and i like the lighting situation on the GV60 and backside a lot, very cool stuff.
same here..EV6 back is amazing..Front - ahhh. No so)
On that removable cargo floor, where the right side can lift up by itself to access the lower floor, there's a loop on the underside of the cargo floor, which leads me to believe you can flip the removable cargo floor over, and use that small door to access the left side, if you choose.
When did he say he didn’t think interior was luxurious?
@@rahimi4762 he didn't say it explicitly, actually he said something like "this car is not as luxurious as he thought it would be" and for sure it is not on Rolls or Bentley level, but it is definitely luxurious.
Pretty sweet!
Hyundai/Kia/Genesis/Ioniq are definitely making exciting new cars, on the cutting edge of technology
Cadallic lyriq throws every car out of competition.. Actually looks nice
Just a heads up, Ioniq is the Model, not Make.
@@Ravenousjoe Actually, it's a "sub-brand." It is a growing family of EVs from Hyundai. The "Hyundai Ioniq" model has been cancelled. The name will now be used for all future Hyundai EVs
@@InvestBetter.future being the key word.
A 2012 Genesis is still a Hyundai. Good to know for the future though, although I am not a fan of 1 company having 4 different sub brands like GM does. It just gets annoying to follow.
@@Ravenousjoe I don't know why you are trying to start an argument. they are already selling Ioniq 5, so the sub brand has already started. So be wrong, if that's your thing. Just do you.

does somebody else gets reminded of the song " rolllin' " by Limp bizkit when Doug says "Alriiight" ?
The piece on the right hand door is not a speaker, it is used to dispense a fragrance, it twist off to open
I personally think this is the first time I’ve seen the whole face/Touch ID on a car has worked. Works in seconds, intuitive, and well made!
The orb / gear selector seems unnecessary and likely to break. If it doesn’t flip over I assume you can’t drive.
False. I looked up a Genesis how-to video on what to do if the crystal sphere mechanism fails. If it fails to turn over, you can manually flip it over and it will still work ✅
@@greg.anywhere Thanks. Glad to hear there’s a fail safe that allows the vehicle to operate. I stand my opinion that it’s unnecessary and *seems* likely to break given the frequency of use. It’s definitely different. I imagine they did their best to design it for heavy use. Time will tell. Perhaps one day all cars will have orbs…
I love the interior, but man I do not like the exterior. All the other Genesis models look so much better. Even prefer the Ioniq 5 and EV6
Same here. I really like most of the Genesis models, but this look makes sense considering it is based on the Ioniq and EV6, which are both wild.
Regarding the cargo area floor panel that lifts up: My Impala and Chrysler 300 both have that. There's a small cargo area in front of the spare tire well that can be accessed under the floor panel. I keep my jumper cables in there.
22:29 LMFAOOOO. This man is a menace
I worry if liquids or debris gets into that gear shifter/orb. If it's stuck in orb mode, I wonder how expensive it will be to fix it.
All I can see is an “orb” with cheetoh crumbs and salt from french fries filling the surround gap
Another great review Doug
Great review (as usual). And THANK YOU for pointing out the fact that frunks are rarely actually used. I've had 3 EVs now and never open the frunk.
@@Danne89 I can't speak for OP, but I wouldn't bother using one with a bonnet latch, only if it unlatched on the remote.
28:20 There's no way in hell the Mustang Mach E has better styling than the GV60
10:00 not a speaker - that is a scent diffuser - the cap twists off so you can put a smell pod in it...
It looks cool, with a lot of interesting little things. I like Hyundai/Kia they're not afraid of innovations. They may be one of the only major brands left after the transition to electric
Yep. Electric cars are the downfall of major companies like BMW and Mercedes. Have you seen their horrendous designs for electric cars?
Thats pretty cool, theives no longer need a key, just severed body parts.
Sure you call them theives lol
Lol
it would've made a lot more sense for them to have put a fingerprint sensor on the door handle rather than force you to stare at your B pillar to get in. not sure if it's a logistical issue or they weren't allowed to use biometric unlocking unless they had 2 factor authentication
Drivers may be wearing gloves in winter or carrying items in the hands, so facial recon for entry makes tons of sense, imo.
@@immk9988 good point, luckily no one wears anything to block their eyes in the summer or their face in the winter lol
@@immk9988 True true.

What an amazing car, i mean WOW. theres not much to say about it. its reliable its fast, it looks most definitely quirky.
Not reliable.
People are gonna use that Boost button like a Mario Kart mushroom.
Imagine the dealerships hassle when they notice and have to unprogram Doug's face from the door sensor :D
Edit: btw, this car looks great, and in general Genesis have really been on the top of their game with their recent line-up, i'd definitely consider one even though i am a hardcore Mercedes fanboy.
I assume it has some kind of "factory reset" feature just like every phone out there.
Intresting how far Hyundai has come
@21:05 I actually use my front trunk a lot to put my backpack in which fits perfectly.
Technology companies: "Biometric features are convenient and easy to use"; people that has to contend with them: "No, they're not" 😆
agreed.. the fingerprint sensor in the GV70 simply takes too long.. i never use it...

Thats like calling a Ram 3500 Heavy Duty... a car.
The Genesis might have the best reliability though. That would put it on top of my list.
I agree

Can u still use the remote to backup and drive the car forward like the gv70?
This car was designed for Doug to review
I have 3 Teslas (each with front trunks obviously) and while it's true that I don't open them often - you'd be wrong to assume they don't get used. I keep my mobile charger, charging adapters, extension cord, first aid kit, and any other "car" stuff in there. This is actually REALLY nice because it keeps my normal trunk free of those things that I need to have with me, but don't need very often.
i'm surprised we still have actual keys. Love the fingerprint and face id
Not too crazy about the design. Looks pretty ordinary IMO, compared to ionq or ev6..
looks like a standard gas car...
True, some people want that though
After all this years i'm still amazed that some people just LOVE the idea of having their most valuable information (biometrics) on devices that have dogshit security (if they even have security at all). If companies like Samsung, Sony and Google don't care about it what makes you think that car manufacturers will?
What if the battery goes flat
What if there’s a child inside and the computer locks up? You gotta have the mechanical key to at least open the door.
I wonder if you need to have the key to open the charge port.
