PC 😍🎄 it's great to see you! I hope you are doing well 🫶🏼 thank you for your feedback on this video and taking a moment to watch / comment. I appreciate the time and support 🫶🏼 wishing you a wonderful weekend ❤️🌸
Hi Holly 😍🎄 LOVE these new growths! Reminds me of searching the landscape for my tulips, daffodils and other bulbs, when I had a big garden. During the winter, I would go and look to see if anything is already starting to make an appearance... these new growths remind me of that 😊 thank you so very much for watching, lovely lady! I appreciate your time during this busy time of year 🫶🏼 wishing you a fabYOUlous weekend ❤️🌸
Shirley, hi 😍💐 it is! Yes! Thankfully there is actually time to fuss around with such menial tasks 😆 especially this time of year AND tasks that I can actually physically handle 😂 A very Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, amiga mia!! Peace and Joy from my home to your's 🫶🏼 thank you so much for watching ❤️🌸
😍Hi Denise 💐 while internally, I go BRRRR, I am glad because that means you are not tempted to go outside and do stuff that takes away from your healing process 😬 😉 I am doing ok, thanks! I hope that you are!! That things are progressing better than expected! Thank you so much for watching, lovely lady 🫶🏼 have yourself a relaxing pampered day ❤️🌸
@NinjaOrchids I'm glad to hear you're doing well, Nina! Sending season's greetings and if you do celebrate Christmas I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️ when it arrives 😊
Hello Nina!! You make the patio look so bright and full of life even in the dreariest of months! 🙌🏾 I am curious about the potting mix in your pot 😁 Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
🌸🥷🏼Troy San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 hi!! So kind of you to already give this video support, thank you so so much and for the kind comment 🥹 muchas gracias! Arigato 🤗🥰 the media mix is all akadama mixed with those white non water retentive pieces of quartz. Horticultural grit or tiny broken river pebbles would do as well. I have reused the akadama from the older pot, before potting this bowl up, and it has held it's shape / consistency throughout the past 3 years, very well. The bletillas are loving it 👍🏼 (they need a bigger bowl 🤪😂) hope you are having a wonderful day and wishing you a calm, peaceful build up to the Holiday Season coming up 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Hi Nina! Looks like a good day for you! I remember as a child my grandmother had plants like these in her garden. I don’t know what they were. But they bloomed along side with the tulips, although they looked quite different 🤪 Thank you for another wonderful video. Hope you are well…..take care ❤
🌸🥷🏼BeBe San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 hello, beautiful lady 🫶🏼 things on the patio have calmed down, for sure 😅 to be able to just fuss with a ground orchid clean up, or picking off the loose leaves of an aphyllum feels luxurious... I am not looking at the floor though 😂 hope things will decompose throughout the winter and get washed away by normal rain before Spring 🤪 we have sun today.... that is a huge bonus. It warms my back and lifts my spirits. Seems like the Spanish winter has made a come back, but I don't want to jinx it. You know how it is... Murphy's Law 😅 I think childhood memories that 'click' through adulthood, are the best. I did not know that I loved frangipani trees, while in Kenya. I smelled the blooms many decades later and recognized the smell. That is how it clicked for me, these were frangipani trees 😆 love it! Thank YOU so much for watching 🌸🥷🏼Amiga San! I hope that you wake up to a sparkling FriYAY!! 🫶🏼❤️🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Thanks for the info! I’m looking for a new mix for my Habenaria in the spring. 😁 I’m so grateful for your help! Have a fantastic weekend dear friend! 🌺😊
Barb, hi 😍🎄 I have a video, right back when I first received the original clump which is more of 'discover bletillas together' type of information, IF you are interested? th-cam.com/video/1X2_BEl2JUc/w-d-xo.html basically, back then I knew nothing about these orchids, so I talk through what I see, and how I interpret what I see with the limited information I had. The result of which, after all these years, you can see in this video... they have grown really well 🙌🏼 wishing you a very Merry Christmas as well, lovely lady! May the New Year also fulfil all your needs, the ones that you know about and the ones you did not know you needed 🙏🏼 thank you so much for all your support in the past years, lovely lady! I so appreciate you 🫶🏼❤️🌸
they actually don't go dormant around these parts. They slow way down, but they will almost always have green and growing parts. By the same token, Catasetinae don't always go dormant here either. Case in point, my Cyrtopodium paniculatum has never gone dormant, it is actually growing a new growth right now (much to my chagrin because I was going to give it a repot in spring).
Don Miguel 🥰🎄 hola jefe! I can imagine that without the radical temperature drop, these would be growing into abundant clumps much much quicker, yes. I guess your Cyrtopodium will get a repot sooner 😅 I would love to be able to grow these in the landscape and then let them do their thing, but what I am seeing, being contained in the pot, that the tubers are growing into the pot again to fill in the gaps, which, in the landscape I don't think they would do? I assume that they would just keep growing from the middle out and not inwards 🤷🏼♀️ I am glad that its not going to be a battle of having everything concentrated on the outer edge of the pot, instead, new tubers will go inwards. Kinda was a concern of mine initially. Vamos a ver. 😊 thank you so much for taking a moment to watch and leave your insights in the comments. I appreciate it so much! Wishing you a fabYOUlous weekend, my friend 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Move them indoors and they should do fine. Here, outside they're the first plants up and bloom before the majority of the bulb plants. Tomorrow is my Antique day....fist day of winter...funny, I don't remember growing older..😏 Hope your weekend is fun and relaxed Nina. 🪽☃️🎄 P.S. Got a birthday/ X-mas gift of Caulocattleya Chantilly Lace "Twinkle" from my friend in Yonkers...🎉🎉🎉🎉
🦤🦅😍 Wingman! Yes, the remind me of when I used to have a garden, and I would be outside looking to see if any of my bulbs were making an appearance, which did not include the snowdrops because they were such a happy sight already during the winter. 😊 same here, suddenly, I walk like a chimpanzee holding a ball and limping. Straightening up became an act of congress, 'all of a sudden'! Mercy!! 🥹 Happy Antique Day, my friend! Especially with that wonderful pressie!! What a treat 🙌🏼🎄 yes, I am jelly because I had 2 and neither one of them grew... still a replacement option for when the time comes, which I hope will be sooner rather than later! Enjoy your newcomer and the weekend, amigo mio! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼❤️🌸
HAI!!
Fantastic timing. I’ve been wondering why mine are putting up new growth. You answered all of my questions. 😊 My next thought is (for any orchids) how much of a role does ambient lighting play? My Bletilla had to come indoors and I’m wondering if lights in house can mess with plants internal clocks? 💕🌺
😍Hi Debbiiiieee 💐 woohoo!! Love it when this happens, thank you for letting me know 🙌🏼 light is important for the majority of the orchids we grow. If we consider that 80% of our orchids are tropical, that means they grow around the equator or thereabouts. Even altitude makes no difference when around the equator. Their steady light exposure is 12 hrs. from 6:30am to 6:30 pm. The difference is, temperature. The inner clock for orchids that rest is temperature, not so much light. Unless you are a ground orchid that is native to the very north or south of the hemispheres. These guys (bletillas) respond to temperature. So, if you were to bring your pot inside, then yes, they may get more light, but if they don't get the temperature increase, then they will not progress with their growths no matter how much light you throw at them. I hope that makes sense? Understandable that if brought indoors, they will be in warmer surroundings, so they will respond but that is not to be confused with, they respond because of longer light exposure... yikes... hope that makes sense 😆 and I hope YOU are doing well, lovely lady, that you are already having a fabYOUlous FriYAY 🫶🏼 thank you so much for watching ❤️🌸
Yours must be getting a lot of Rain, more than mine because I don't have all that mos. In fact, none at all. And I also pretty much ignore them until spring. Maybe they get the hint and start blooming 😃 Anyway, I may have to move them to a larger pot, they are too crowded in that One 😅❤❤❤
FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰🎄 good morning, meine liebe Freundin! Mine have gotten SO much rain... it has been insane!! Happy little pot though, and that is the most important thing. I also hope that you will see your's in bloom this coming spring. WHICH can't come soon enough 😆 AND....woohooo... as from today, the days are starting to get longer again 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼🥳 thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to watch and comment, vecina favorita! I appreciate you so much 🫶🏼 have a beautiful day ❤️🌸
