Ah, I really hopes to see Medoro in the DLC, he's had quite a presence looming across The Barren Swamp and many collectibles and it would definitely be very interesting to learn what he found out, the truths, hopes that he still alive. Valentinus was my first thought after beating the game and being posed with the question you answered, "Who has lost their whole family and is important enough to be of note?" I didn't see or connect all the wall writing, either, so that was a nice, sad twist that falls in line with the tone of the entire game. I don't know about Val having to swear on Sophia's life, but there could be notes I missed. Val being patient zero in what seems like the Krat's second(?) big outbreak also lines up with the story and tone. This game is so much fun, it's like an Aesop fable via Bloodborne.
    Also, could it be that the legendary stalker is Lady Antonia? She brags about having a "fierce" youth and had prolific influences in music, education, and philanthropy. We know that there is precedent for musically-inclined stalkers (White Lady) and educated ones (Owl Doctor), and many were from the nobility. P learns to appreciate and play music in the game, too. My headcanon is that the Legendary Stalker felt deep remorse for losing Gemini, Carlo, Romeo, and everyone else at the Charity House, she even blames herself in the ergo flashback, so she pivoted her career to helping the city recover and provide a place for safety, the hotel, with deep connections to both the Alchemists and the Workshop. The first things she says to P are that she's good friends with Gepetto, that P is always welcome at the hotel, then she gives P Carlo's school clothes from when he lived at the Charity House.

      The whole mystery around Valentinus "dying" and Sophia going missing can be interpreted so many different ways, and I agree that it's possible Valentinus didn't have to swear on Sophia's life--but either way he was forced into hiding for one reason or another.
      As for the Legendary Stalker: I'm actually working on a script for my next video which will be about her and am excited to get working on it. Antonia is definitely the most popular theory out there and you raise a lot of good points, but I have a different theory that, right or wrong, is pretty fun to think about. Stay tuned!

    I think something important in all your videos is the fact that a Listeners power is not as simple as talking to puppets. The listeners seem to have some larger connection to Ergo. Sophia Projects herself through ergo, communicates with ergo like radio waves, and alters the ergo we collect.
    Knowing that, I think she would be able to talk through ergo to carcasses. Carcasses are ergo being altered mid-process through the petrification disease. Husks full of Ergo are a similarity between puppets and carcasses.

    • @inspektahmcduck
      @inspektahmcduck  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Right, we never get a good idea of what a Listener is truly capable of. Aside from what you pointed out, we also learn that Listeners are turned into Gold Coin trees (though at the moment I can't remember where that info came from; it's in the game somewhere). So their power really is unfathomable without more info. Your theory about Sophia being able to communicate with carcasses is interesting, though the only one we encounter with any sort of intelligence is the Hermit-unless you count Champion Victor or Laxasia, since they're technically "reborn" through Ergo. Either way at this point we don't have any other evidence of her attempting to communicate with anyone other than ourselves, so it's really hard to say what she's actually capable of. Lots to think about.

  • @georgekatkus5162
    @georgekatkus5162 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    A few more hints, when you enter the room Sophia is trapped in, on the wall, theres a bunch of bugs displayed, and a singular blue butterfly as well.
    I don't think she used the butterfly form she made to talk to him, i think it was just a reference to her, a personal one that no one could logically get right away. Simon even calls the communication through ergo a "cheap parlor trick" implying it already existed, so it seems far more likely that Sophia just used ergo, and the butterfly was Valentinus way of remembering it was her, without giving it away
    She mentions that she has powers over the flow of time, and so she could easily have turned back time and tried to let Valentinus know, which may be why he took the fake cure, because the petrification disease doesn’t turn people into monsters, the fake cure the alchemists gave to the church does.
    So even the praying has a lot of significance, because we do know that Valentinus was involved with the Church, he wa slikely the one who distributed the cure, not knowing it was a fake/one thag hadn't been tried.
    This may be why Simon wants a world with no lies, because it was a lie that made everything the way it was, and his own master spread it, even unknowingly.
    This gets into who made the fake cure, I have a guess.
    Paracelsus, the one that hides as Giango. He gives us a seemingly perfect cure to the petrification disease, which is already suspect, since he told us first that he's a new and practicing alchemist. He knew the first cure was a fake.
    He also speaks of the importance of Gepettos Puppet, implying he has been trying to get this specific result, not only that, he hints about the next game.
    This leads me to believe he also has time powers. Theres a few pieces of evidence besides this however, one is that he always appears next to the tree, regardless of if you talked to him first. That's pretty huge, the other piece of evidence is that Sophia regularly turns back time for you, yet she is still herself fooled, implying theres someone making things different as well.
    Anyways, the rabbit hole goes so deep when you play the game through and just don't do certain things, yet see just how much it stays the exact same

    • @fish963
      @fish963 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To add on to this: as to why Paracelsus' cure seems to work while the alchemists turn people into monsters, maybe the secret lies in the dosage? The real life Paracelsus (born as Theophrastus von Hohenheim) was an alchemist who was most famous for emphasizing the importance of dosing in distinguishing between toxicity and treatment. Perhaps the only difference in the two cures is the dosage levels

    • @inspektahmcduck
      @inspektahmcduck  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for commenting! A lot of interesting things here. First, I agree about Sophia and the butterfly--I always assumed she was communicating with the Hermit via ergo and not by sending a butterfly. That being said, why she has a separate identity as the Blue Butterfly or Blue Fairy is something I haven't figured out yet. Either way I don't think the Hermit knew that the Blue Fairy and Sophia are the same entity, but we have no evidence to support or contrast this so it's all speculation.
      Second, I don't think Valentinus ever took the fake cure. The lore from the cave mentions the water being corrupted ("the water is strange, I'm not sure when it started but my tears and blood have also turned blue"), so I take that to mean that the water from the swamp is what mutated him. I know Medoro's note mentions that the mutations are side effects from the neutralization process, but I think he was just making assumptions about the Hermit.
      Third, in the collectible we find called Simon Manus's Confession, Simon writes that he wants a world without lies because he could read his creator's mind (whether that's his father or someone else is unclear) and knew that he was viewed as a failure. I won't type it all out here but check out that for more info. Either way Simon knew exactly what the fake cure did and he spread it intentionally in his quest to find immortality, so I don't think the cure has anything to do with him wanting a world without lies.
      Finally, I've done a few playthroughs where I decide to ignore certain characters or actions, and the two things the game forces you into no matter what are relationships with Alidoro and Giango. If you ignore both of them they still end up where they need to be, and I think that's mostly because they're important merchants and the devs don't want you locked out of the unique items and quests they provide. There may be some lore reasons to back it up but I think it's a bit simpler than that. Either way it's all fun stuff to think about.

    So i bought the games 3 weeks ago and love it. Played it in german, maybe there are some different things in the translation, but the guy that pretend to be alidoro drops alidoros puzzle. But he is not alidoro instead he is medoro that stole alidoros identity. The hermit that we beat in the cave is the real alidoro, his sister is the women where we can upgrade our weapons. They call him the hermit cause to protect her sister he said that there is no family member from him alive cause he worked as a stalker for the alchemists as a double agent. He was the one that give medoro the informations and he tried to free sophia, thats why the alchemists wanted to kill him and he had to flew from them where he ended in this cave. Thats why the real alidoro saved eugenie and she know that he lost a finger and cause medoro drop the puzzle unsolved he never knew that she was alidoros sister. So thats what the npcs tell u and u can read some of the details in the books in german translation.

    • @inspektahmcduck
      @inspektahmcduck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First, thanks for the all of the details around this theory. It's an interesting take and does seem plausible. The thing with Lies of P is that there are known inconsistencies between the translations of various languages, so figuring out the true intent isn't always easy. Can you remember any specific phrases/collectibles/etc in the German version that support this theory? If what you're saying is true then that would be an interesting twist for sure, but one thing that's keeping me from thinking that Medoro is the one who stole Alidoro's identity is the fact that he double-crosses us; he's working with the Alchemists and leads the Black Rabbit Brotherhood to the Hotel. He admits that he doesn't care for the people inside and is acting selfishly, which doesn't align with all of the good things Medoro tried to do as a reporter and as a friend of Sophia's. It feels out of character for him. But who knows? He could be angry and jaded and these are his true colors finally showing through as a man who has been beaten down and is giving up. The thing I love about Lies of P lore is that it can be interpreted in so many different ways and it's up to each of us individually to decide what we want to believe.

      I really appreciate the support. But-to be fair-after I made this video I did consider the fact that Medoro could have written about the Hermit as an alibi in order to hide his true identity in case anyone showed up to the cave looking for him. So Medoro really could have turned into the Hermit/Monster in the cave, but by writing about the Hermit as a separate person he was protecting himself. Still, I like my original theory better and I'm sticking with it for now!

      @@inspektahmcduck I agree that there is so much lore hunting and speculation potential in Lies of P, many of the larger lore channels either made one plot summary type video or never even touched it. Unfortunately I think even many souls fans just dismissed the game entirely as too hard for being heavily reliant on parrying, as they were expecting it to play like most souls games where dodging is the main defensive action. But for me I actually like Lies of P's parry focused combat much more than Dark Souls lol, I remember another youtuber describing it as "dodging is a defensive action that feels defensive, parrying is a defensive action that feels offensive" which really captured why Lies of P feels so good to me

    • @inspektahmcduck
      @inspektahmcduck  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@fish963 That's a great way to put it and I agree 100%. The combat and parry system is so addictive that I'm worried Elden Ring won't be any fun the next time I go back to play it. Lies of P might be my favorite combat system of any game I've ever played. As for other souls fans dismissing it, I think a lot of people heard it was a "Bloodborne clone" and never gave it a fair shot. Lies of P does borrow a ton of elements from Souls games but it truly feels unique and worthy of standing on its own, and I feel like some people never gave it enough time to realize that.

      @@fish963 Funny enough is that I found the game not that hard except for like 2-3 bosses (and I am (was? cause I like Lies of P a lot) a souls like hater after getting burned by Sekiro and ended up refunding it). The worst being the Walker of Illusions (way too small arena that took some getting used to) and the door guardian because my build was a slow and heavy build while that gimmick fight called for a "death by a thousand cuts with the dragon katana" approach. But I really played it as a dodge, disable lock on and run and block game because I couldn't get into a vibe with the parry timings. Only got better at those near the end but not enough to actually rely on them for bosses and improved to use them more during the NG+ that I put on hold after beating Laxasia the second time. Now I have a backup of that save and will go for all 3 endings again to get 100% of the achievements and my NG++ will be reserved for when the DLC drops. 😊

    @TheGreyPiper 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Re Sophia's communication ability: isnt she capable of communicating with puppets, because they run on ergo and she is able to wield/manipulate ergo? And isnt the petrification disease the result of people being exposed to ergo spores? Irrespective of whether he is Valentinus or not, I think there is an explanation for Sophia's ability to communicate with the hermit that sticks to Sophia's ergo-centric powers and that doesnt require us to randomly add "and family members too". But that means that the communication as such isnt necessarily evidence of this being Valentinus.
    (I also think the only person in the hotel on whose individual development Sophia ever comments is Antonia, who also suffers from the petrification disease, i.e. a sort of ergo infection.)

    • @inspektahmcduck
      @inspektahmcduck  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's a good observation and similar to a comment someone else left on this video. If that's the case though, and you're arguing that the Hermit doesn't have to be Valentinus for her to communicate with him-then why is the Hermit the only character we have evidence of her trying to reach? The only other reference we have to her communicative abilities is when she explains to us what a Listener is. First she says, "I kept it a secret that I could talk to puppets"-she doesn't mention her abilities going beyond puppets, so if she could communicate with any being that possesses Ergo, why wouldn't she mention that too? And in the same bit of dialogue she says, "Now, you are the only one my voice reaches. So I beg you. Please, save Krat." She essentially admits that she tried contacting someone else, but we don't know who or how many people. We can only assume that the Hermit is the only other person she tried to reach since we don't have evidence that indicates otherwise. It's a cool theory but I feel like there are too many holes in it for me to subscribe to it, personally.

      @inspektahmcduck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's definitely possible and would make sense since Medoro would want to go into hiding, so why not assume a new identity? The issue I have with that theory--as I just said to someone else--is that the things he does in the game seem out of character for the Medoro we know. Everything we learn about him shows him as a hero, as someone who opposes the Alchemists, and as one of Sophia's friends. So why would he then decide to team up with the Alchemists and betray us by revealing our hideout (the Hotel) to the enemy? Medoro was a fighter for truth and was trying to expose the Alchemists, so it would be a pretty stark turn for him to decide to work for them and try to bring us down. That's just my opinion though, and anything is possible for sure.
