I have owned a bunch of big cars, the best one's were the lincolns from the early 70's but the Deville fleetwoods from 95 or the buick road masters were the most comfortable, don't get me wrong this car rides great, but it's not the best..

Excellent gas mileage as well for a V-8 My 88 with the 5.0L 302 was getting 28 highway 20 city 23 mixed.

I inherited my mom’s 2006, Mercury Grand Marquis LE that only had 23,086, miles on it. If I was a car dealer I would advertise it as only driven on Sunday by a little old lady. It’s in mint condition, and after me driving pickups for the past 50 years, it’s the best driving car I’ve ever had. And it runs like a scalded assed ape. Never thought I’d be driving a little old lady’s car, but damn.

The culprit that does not recharge the battery is not the alternator, and that does not turn on the cluster instrument is a simple electronic component called a varistor that is located on the back of the instrument screen. Its function is to adsorb voltage spikes to protect other components. , by adsorbing the electric peaks, it degrades and at the same time burns the fuse. The solution is to replace the varistor. My father has two 1995 Lincoln Town Car that had the same problem.

2009-2015. I had 5. 2003 Grand Marquis LS ice blue. 2003 Grand Marquis GS red. 1998Mercury Grand Marquis GS, white. Repo. Beat to hell. Looked like a cop car. 1999 Ford crown Vic. Navy blue. 2006 Grand Marquis LS ice blue.
Red one was 88,000 miles. Crown Vic was 199,000 miles. It rode better than the Grand Marquis If you ever go to start a 1998- up and it cranks good but doesn’t run check the battery in the key. It’s dead. New key cut and programmed to the car fixed the issue.
Love it. I could use a car. Want another Grand Marquis someday.

I have had my 97 for 4 years now and it is probably the best car I have ever had besides my pony car and I have had probably at least 15 different vehicles since I started driving 18 years ago. However when it comes to the panther platform I believe that it just might be the best platform ford ever had, there is a reason why it was in production for 30 years also I am jealous that you got that car for $250!!

If your owner put the start button under the hood I would not be surprised that he pulled a relay out.
I use to pull one back to keep the interior light out.

Looks like a fire waiting to happen. Pretty easy to throw a new alternator and battery in on the side of the road.

Nice score! After the repair, I would change the grille and give a good polish on the headlamp and the body. A decent looking car for a family who needs a cheap car. 👍

You stated at beginning. Could use the back sheet for the cop car.

remove radio and climate fuse so when the alternator is not working the car wont draine the power on boosterpack due to the low aH the pack have also. the standard no lights. climate and radio so on so on will help to get you home with the booster.

Looking at the corrosion on the terminals, I wouldn't charge but you never know how old the battery is plus the alternator may be not up to snuff.
