Dude, we are in for some great stuff with Sam watching these movies. She's so open and vulnerable watching stuff like Warrior because she's not in the industry; she's just a cool person who is totally okay with being herself--something the online world is starved for. I feel like we're going to get to know a really dope human being on this MCU journey.
Kristian's ability to not spoil anything down the road is impressive. I can never keep my geek brain from spouting out every little thing that's forshadowed when I am watching with first timers.
I was 17 when I saw this in theaters and I had no idea whatsoever that it would lead to one of the greatest film franchises in human history with the MCU!
FYI- The pilot that ejected couldn’t tell anyone that Ironman saved his life because the communication links with his aircraft radio will be broken upon ejection. The pilot would only have radio communication after he deploys his survival kit and on reaching the ground using the radio (kinda like a walkie-talkie) that’s packed in the kit. Advice from an old, retired USAF Life Support Technician. Cheers
"Pause it... pause it... pause it!" To be fair, Sam will have lots of those opportunities during Thor. 😂😂😂 Btw, you should try Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) if ya want something to just sit back to and enjoy on yer own time. Jeff Bridges and Michelle Pfeiffer, 'nuff said. Looking forward to this journey!
I'm actually jealous of Sam because she's going to experience the MCU for the first time! A few months after this movie came out Tropic Thunder was released!
I was 11 years old when i watch the first Ironman movie in the movie theatre. Still remember that night like it was just yesterday. Never knew it would grew to something bigger than I would have ever imagine.
When I first heard they were making an Iron Man movie, I was stunned and I was making jokes with my friend because he wasn't considered a popular character. Then after I found out Robert Downey Jr. was cast to play Tony, I was even more shocked because at that time Robert stayed in an out of a court room for years, so that casting choice was strange. I can't say I was blown away with Iron Man but I was more excited they were connecting the films after watching the Incredible Hulk released a few months later.

LORD willing, all humans may commit sin of almost every kind (gay, straight), and that's wrong, and all humans sin, as God tells us through the The Holy Bible, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." The Holy Bible also says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.", "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." and, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
19:40 Burger King actually saved Robert Downey Jr’s life. He had a Burger King burger one night when he was high and had a bunch of drugs in the car. The burger didn’t taste like it should so he drove to the ocean and tossed all his drugs in the ocean and started doing things to change his life around.
This is true. I think it's not so much about the burger. But that he went there after a bender and a complete mess. Knowing he was about to go to prison. The shame he felt and how disgusted he was with himself.
Watching this with you guys and having Sam never see any of these films is like watching them for the first time with friends again. Love these reaction videos.
Ahhh, this was also great to re-watch and experience through a fresh set of eyes. Nostalgia. It is mad, how much things we miss, remember or misremember when we rewatch the MCU from the beginning. It has come a long way.
Iron Man in a way saved Robert Downey Jr. He said he was looking at his kids watching these movies and was thinking about his future and was thinking, "Hey, I can do that." And so it began, and as great as he was as an actor, he's like Action Hero royalty since Iron Man, and I have to agree, this is his character.
The movie that started it all. Sam is gonna have a blast watching all movies in MCU Phase 1-3. Phase 4 & 5 is where you will be the encyclopedia for tv series Kristian lol.
Still my absolute favorite MCU movie. The scenes of him building and testing those suits feel so fresh to this day. Movie magic at its finest because it feels so real.
Aw man. I remember getting tickets for this, telling my then boyfriend now husband "I think movie is going to be big deal." We went opening day and had to work later at the dollar movie theater. I saw it again a month later on my birthday. 11 years later to the day I watched Endgame. It's one of those really perfect flicks. 2008 was such a good movie year. I'm so glad ya'll are doing these rewatchs
Fun fact: One of the gunmen is Tom Morello- Rage Against The Machine. (The one that had the light shine in his face in the cave) . He also did alot of the soundtrack as well!
Favreau actually asked Marvel fans on MySpace for ideas on who the villain should be in this movie. I pointed out that most of his villains were kind of dopey, but that there were good stories in there, like the protests against his company as an arms manufacturer and the "armor wars" type story. I doubt they read my comment, but it's cool to see they reached the same conclusions.
The song in the casino, and Tony's ringtone, are taken from the 1966 Iron Man cartoon...."Tony Stark, makes you feel, he's a cool exec with a heart of steel..."
Its so shocking thst so many people haven't watched any of the MCU franchise yet. We hardcore fans are gonna relive our nostalgia through watching reactions of first time viewers like you. Your MCU journey would be great I am for sure.❤

Im a dc guy always was and always will be but first time watching this and then the end when fury said the avengers initiative i knew something great was coming and man what a ride.
Not only did i not expect Obadiah to betray Tony the first time I watched this in the theater in 2008, but i feel equally betrayed every time I see it since then. Every single time.
"Bought the farm" refers to out of business as far as fighting goes. There are different possible explanation to this one being the pilot died and the compensation paid off the mortgage on whatever was owned, another is a plane wrecks a farm falling out of the sky and the compensation paid to the farmer is equal or more than the property's value.
I was 13 when this movie came out and every time it gets better and better without this movie we wouldn't have the MCU or the Avengers this movie was important it's the greatest introduction to start what is now the greatest and biggest franchises in Hollywood they took a chance and made Downey Jr. a major star and he made us believe that he is Iron-man he was perfect for this role also this movie made us believe that the Avengers could be made. The way they pulled this off was invincible and I feel like this movie was how they made the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve on how superhero movies should be and made us believe that heroes can fly and made us believe that these superheroes can come to life. Without this movie we wouldn't have the franchise or end credit scenes nor cameos from Stan Lee also I think we wouldn't have the Avengers movies at all this movie is important and made comic book movies loveable and made Marvel the biggest names in Hollywood history. The Incredible Hulk came out the same year as Iron-man if Sam hasn't seen the Incredible Hulk I would recommend you do a rewatch of that movie because that movie is a great movie and it had RDJ confirm that we are getting an Avengers movie you should do a rewatch of all phase 1 of the MCU if Sam hasn't seen those movies.
14:11, back in the 1990s there was an Iron Man cartoon. During the opening intro you see Tony Stark hammering a way at a piece of his armor. This scene is a bit of a call back to that.
It’s going to be revealed that Dr. Doom has been in the MCU 616 since day one and it starts when Tony regains his consciousness when they shined that spotlight in his face after being knocked out by the ambush in the desert. The hints start in Brave New World.
I remember seeing this in cinema the first weekend, I was so hyped by the whole movie, but when Fury said "Avenger's Initiative" I totally lost it, the Avengers where my favorit MARVEL comics growing up 😆
8:50, in the comics Tony Stark is a recovering alcoholic. During one famous storyline called "Demon in a Bottle" he went off the wagon so bad he lost his company...to Obadiah Stane. Stane is not Tony's friend and mentor in the comics. He is a rival cutthroat businessman trying to take over Stark Industries. yeah, Obadiah mastering the suit, so quickly, is a major plot hole; but let's talk about Tony surviving the crash, in his original suit. he must've fallen 10-20 stories, _at least_ - there's no way he could've survived that!

Going back to Ironman one then going forward to, lets say, Endgame, the tone of the MCU has changed considerably. The colour set (palette), the storytelling, dialogue and humour has evolved and you can definitely tell. This was a simpler time with a smaller budget. This is what Deadpool one is. Storytelling without the huge spectacle. The MCU has done well over the years by up'ing the bar and telling a range of stories and one-up'ing themselves to a point budgets are wild and the spectacle is very samey. I hope going forward they are able to reign this in and tell better stories. I love what the MCU has done and there has been a few misses here and there but they really need to dress back and focus on films like Ironman 1 and what made that great. I hope Sony learn this with Spidey 4 also.

I hope going forward they are able to reign this in and tell better stories. I love what the MCU has done and there has been a few misses here and there but they really need to dress back and focus on films like Ironman 1 and what made that great. I hope Sony learn this with Spidey 4 also.
Terrence Howard's portrayal of Rhodey was great dare I say it better than Cheadle
I have long held this belief.
That “Next time, baby” will always be a bummer to me.
i still dont get what happened exactly. Terrence has said in interviews how he was upset at RDJ for not having his back.
