Looks intriguing. What do you think of the component quality and artwork? Which of the games in The Mask Trilogy (Tikal, Java, Mexica) do you like the best?
Components suck in the old version (this version) but I believe they’ve been improved in the new version. Only played Tikal once ages ago and not played Java so cant really comment on them. I think we’ll probably pick them up and have a look. Be rude not to right?
Excellent stuff. So pleased to see a little love for Kesling and Kramer as they have co-designed a good few games together, and this is one of the great ones. Tikal was the first game in the series to use the action point system that is consistent between the games, however they are actually quite different otherwise. Also if you think Mexica is bad for AP then you should perhaps avoid Java. It absolutely melted my brain and I couldn't even imagine how long it'd take with 4. I'd say it's definitely worth checking out Tikal though as it's probably the favourite. I've recorded a wee video about it actually, not as sharp and to the point as yours are though. 👍

Don't think it's great at 2 to be honest. Board is too open and it becomes very much a zero sum affair. Wouldn't stop me playing it if it was my only option though.
Riverboat is a solid game so I'd recommend picking it up, especially at recent prices. Again the theme is barely there but it's a good mash up of interesting mechanics. Definitely a bit of an underrated gem IMO.
I like this but the kids ,no thanks.Also I seem to have a different version with slightly different board and heavy resin pieces. So maby it's because you can put your back out just thinking of playing it.🤔
You have the newer reprint with the better components. We played this with my 9 year old and although he understood the rules he had no idea what he was doing 🤣
I played Tikal (Super Meeple edition) yesterday, and I loved it. I wonder which one of these, Mexica or Cuzco, is the one to get after?

I have the newer version, great components. The heavy pyramids are expecially nice.

Apparently most of their games were designed remotely over the phone, via email or even letters to each other!

How does it at two players?
Dunno mate...my wife doesn’t really like 2 players games. Maybe I’ll convince her to try it.
