    I appreciate the Go-lite feel the game has. Especially that bit in the beginning like "wtf are those going to do" only to later come back with an "uh. right."

    My board game purchase policy is if the art is boring, and the concept sounds boring, the gameplay is probably great.

    I greatly respect that you decided against making a joke and stuck to your guns on that. I know it sucks to cut stuff when you put effort into it, but When a joke isn't good for whatever reason, I respect that you are willing to make those cuts.

    • @Mandemon1990
      @Mandemon1990 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is assuming the joke *isn't* that it was cut. Think about it: any joke about Aztec party they could make would never be as funny as one in peoples minds so, why not just put a simple text on screen saying "we cut this joke", letting people fill in how humorously inapproriate it is?
      It's like the joke: What do you call an arab flying a plane? A pilot. What did you expect, you racist?

    This game seems a bit like Carcassonne, which I am also thinking about getting and have never played. Which is better/how are they different?

    • @jamesmccarthy962
      @jamesmccarthy962 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      carassonne involves placing 2d features on a board via tiles and scoring points for how big or long the features are but you can (and should try to) share features with other players either by co-operation and agreement or force.
      This game involves placing 3d pieces for points to control areas (in a more typical area control method) but you must consider movement of your central player piece which is restricted by building placement.

    Not trying to justify what the Spanish conquistadors did, but the Aztecs weren't exactly nice, terrorizing other Mesoamerican city states and making tens of thousands of gruesome human sacrifices. Some city states like Tlaxcala joined Cortez and helped him take Tenochtitlan in 1521.

    Mexican here, Tenochtitlan still exist, it's just called Mexico City now. Don't get me wrong, the mexican genocide committed by the spaniards was a horrible crime, but the point is that the city still exists

    • @narfnarf2549
      @narfnarf2549 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      About Tenochtitlan, there was no genocide. There was a war. Spaniards won in alliance with the tlaxcaltecas and others mexica's enemies people. Mexicas lost, were almost annihilated and spanish and tlaxcaltecas took their place. So if you are from Mexico City, it's probably that you descend from spanish, tlaxcaltecas or both.

      @@VinnyBloo In "A brief account of the destruction of the indies" Bartolome de las Casas says that since first contact around 50 million people have died in the Americas. 38 million died because of natural causes he says, but 12 million were killed by the europeans because of their policy of extermination, which he also describes in the book. It's the stuff of nightmares, read it yourself
      So yeah, the majority of people in the Americas indeed died because of illnesses, but millions still died because they were murdered, and that's a genocide

    Nice review. But with the point of the spanish destroying the city and genocide is not intierly correct. Although the spanish were the reason it happend they were only with around 500 conquistadores. Most of the army consisted of natives from vassals of the aztecs. These vassals were unhappy with the aztecs thus the reason they helped. And this i dont know for certain but i believe the killing was mostly done by the natives themself.

  • @Doc_Tar
    @Doc_Tar 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Read the history, the Aztecs had it coming to them. So many skulls from those the sacrificed that they put them on giant racks so they could be admired by future generations, or something. Speaking of which, where are the skull racks in this game?th-cam.com/video/EEGrrr3wIXQ/w-d-xo.html

  • @ScarriorIII

    You guys do know that the Aztecs enslaved thousands and ritual sacrificed them by cutting their beating hearts out, right? Just saying, this isn't exparte- both factions, Spanish and Aztec, have some serious flaws. I mean, what do you think the Aztecs did? Have cabana parties all day? 3:05 They got that gold through slave labor. FYI, interesting fact, they did not use gold as money...they used chocolate.

    • @legolasegb
      @legolasegb 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      And they had huge ritual ceremonies were they killed thousands. The only reason the Spaniards were able to defeat them was because the other natives hated the murdering Aztecs. No need to whitewash anyone.
