From all of us at the back, we hope you and the family have a great Christmas. Thank you for all your boardgame insight this year. All the best from us hecklers.
We played stationfall for the first time this year and loved it! It took a couple plays to wrap our heads around the rules and characters but now it’s in our top 5 games of all time!
Thanks for your amusing commentary and analysis. Despite playing thousands of games, I came across new ones from your list that are on their way from the retailers. I cannot place your specific tastes in games and this makes your list more interesting. Keep overcoming the shyness. Merry Christmas and happy gaming New Year.
Merry Christmas from the USA and thanks for all your work, you rude SoB. You put more game titles in front of me that I can look up than any other channel I watch. You are endlessly amusing as well. I just can't justify pulling the trigger on Twilight Imperium 4e but I have Twilight Imperium 2e and now that I am retired I plan to get it back to the table.
Stationfall is one I haven't heard much about. Like many games, who you play with is far more important than what you play. I can see how this game with the right group can be hysterical.
Thanks again for a year of interesting reviews and the time you put into it. Glad Memoir 44 wasn't forgotten this time. Lol! Will definitely be on the table this christmas. Best wishes, good health and all that. See you,... Next year.
Well, I have a few from the top ten which I just have to add to my collection, Obsession, Last Kingdom and TI4. Although, there are quite a few versions of TI3 around on the second/hand market at the moment. Many thanks for the videos during the past twelve months, yours had to be the most amusing and honest chanel on TH-cam. Keep up the great work. Have a blast over the festive period.
@@TheTintinjb No, I think BGB tends to favour Euro games, and that's not my bag. And he doesn't like campaign stuff, which I love. But I still think this is great commentary and I always learn something from it.
@@BoardGameBollocks That's fair. Had the same issue years back but have been lucky enough since Covid to have a persistent group so managed a few full campaigns. I feel your pain :D
Merry Christmas to you, your family and gaming group! Thank you for the top 100 list! Gave me some other games to consider. I love Obsession. Played it a while back for the first time on boardgamearena and liked it so much I ordered a physical copy.
loved the whole list, this specific 10 has a bunch of games I have wanted to try for a while, some I have played, and I am awaiting Cyclades Legendary edition to arrive.
yeah I'm sold on Carooka, I've been looking at Caroom etc but i think this looks a winner, have a great Christmas, happy New year and good luck with the channel for 2025 mate.
I love the unique takes. I've been seeing a lot of the same games on top ten lists but it's fun seeing ones like pitch car, memoir '44, and station fall.
I love it! as a person who dedicated on party games and gathering more ppl to play im fully agree to put dexterity and deduction game on top.. and that makes it even more perfect is you put obsession too! my favorite middle - heavy weight that are so intuitive ❤ Merry Christmas sir!
Obsession came out of nowhere for me… I’ve never enjoyed period dramas at all but the game is so damn good! It’s also the only board game my Mum actually enjoys. It’s brilliant
Thank you for another year of bollocks. Really glad to see you've found Vindication and enjoy it so much. I have all the content for it and really recommend the Chronicles expansion if you'd like to add some more great story and mechanics. The Cucumbers I find next to me when I wake up are usually covered in some mayonnaise. Never smaller than 12 inches either. Merry Christmas! 🤟🏻❤️
Amazing list and so funny to watch. Love your style of doing this! TY 😊 I will have a look at some games of your list and 100 % at cyclades legendary edition....i unfortunately decided not to back it and i regrett it. I think it will come to retail maybe and if not i can buy it at ebay if its that good as i imagine. Merry Christmas
Memoir 44 is part of the Command & Colors line. All feature the card driven Left, Center Right board play but with different unit specs for ancients, shogun, Napoleonic or WWII. Learn one game and you are set for a lot more. Great system, easy to learn.
Didnt see that coming.... I already got my eyes on Stationfall, but after a few reviews I was afraid I lack the group to play this with. Plus, I hated the chaos in Cosmic Encounter, it drove me crazy and I sold it after a few tries. 😂 Well, might not be the game for me to buy, but I would gladly play it someday.
Love Stationfall as well, but there is a game that is even more chaos fun for me, also revolves around space station (ship) and that is Space Alert. I do believe that you love your Vlaada's, but it's his best work alongside Galaxy Trucker and TTA. The amount of chaos and laughter that you can get in less than 20 minutes is absolutely unparalleled.
@@BoardGameBollocks I'm a bit lukewarm on expansion, but the core game is chaosᵀᴹ Stationfall has that feature of you remembering the story, in Space Alert you always remember every single instance of someone screwing up things and that creates memorable experiences as well.
I used to own pitch car but it was stolen along with about 170 other games when I moved to NZ. And it's prohibitively expensive to replace, so now I no longer have a copy. Sad!
Vindication and Twilight are my two favourite games (well, behind rftg New Frontiers). You can come round mine and play extended edition TI whenever you like 😉
So, no Cry Havoc ;) Ok then :P This was an absolute pleasure this year's ride. Thanks for that, it was great. The Last Kingdom I bought based on your list last year is now fully painted, which makes it even more amazing, truly a great game. Vindication was also a great buy, everyone liked it and a full Kickstarter version was like £30 when you've recommended it last time. Also, got my Fallen Land 2nd ed imported from states :D So, as you seem you've caused a lot of damage. As I went for "All-in" pledge for Kemet expansion to get everything including the base game - what would you say Cyclades do better - and if you see a point of owning both considering that difference.
I hear and agree with everything you say about obsession, except that only having played the base game, I was severely put off by the luck factor. I know some of the expansions supposedly mitigate that somewhat, but I have little interest in trying it again. Maybe one day when I feel brave.
I wish I could justify keeping a copy of TI4 at home. I've had the base game since release, and then bought the expansion for it. Me and my group played it only 6 times in 4 years, every time it was exhausting, but ultimately very fun, every session was very memorable. But it just collects dust. In the same 4 years every other game I have has been played at least three times that. TI4 is one of the best board games I have ever played that I simply can't own because most of the time it's impossible to gather people for it. Ultimately I've sold it. It might be the best game in its genre, but other games scratch the itch just enough, and don't require 8+ hours of your time.
OY! Thanks for all the effort you put into this shite. I always have a good laugh. Since you have a couple of little life expectancy shortening devices walking about (kids), could you do a video about what games are good to play with kids? All the best in the new year. Cheers from a Dutch geezer.
Station fall beat out Cyclades huh? my friend bought that one, we really need to play it. But I’m guessing it plays best with more than 4 people? so many new games that it takes a while to get around to trying them, but I will ask my friend to bump that one up the list. Thanks for the top 100. I looked forward to you posting these!
I'm sitting here looking longingly at Stationfall on the shelf, but the game is such a complete bastard to teach that it never comes out. I periodically look online to see if some clever geezer has developed a nice, condensed intro guide, but no luck so far. Merry Christmas, thanks for the list and hopefully Santa emptied his sack down your chimney!
Dexterity games just don't butter my parsnips but the rest of this top 10 are all bangers that I either would, or have, given house room to. Stationfall has become insanely expensive to acquire but I have Vindication, Cyclades (and its associated expansions) as well as TI3 and they are outstanding games. Obsession is just one that visually and thematically doesn't appeal to me but so many people have commented that it's a great game that I should clearly give this one a try.
Obsession is a peculiar game in a way, because you don't really realize that there's basically no player interaction before you sit down and think about it. But it's still too much MPS for me.
the story was they were playing boardgame late at night when they heard a noise outside like someone was trying to break in, so he rushed upstairs, killed the light, grabbed the shotgun, and got ready. you can read it in the biography "a bloody game night".
Obsession is one I really want to try but haven’t had a chance. You could almost say the title is a self-fulfilling prophecy or some dogshit like that. Thanks for doing this.
From all of us at the back, we hope you and the family have a great Christmas. Thank you for all your boardgame insight this year. All the best from us hecklers.

Don't agree with a single one of your top 10, but really enjoyed the whole countdown - thanks and bollox! :D
Maybe because they are multi-player higher count games? I play solo and therefore those games that start at a player count of 3 are not an option
