As you said , " I want to be open & honest " that is what we expect from all beer reviewers. When I review a beer , and I have any kind of fault with that beer I think and say " these are my taste buds yours are different and you may like this beer so try it " you did a good review.

Just drank a bottle of this, I think for Brewdog it's decent. If this was from Cloudwater or the others it would be disappointing but £2.50 from Tesco? Yes please

You were right to criticise Brewdog in that last review. People like Cloudwater are embarrassing them at the moment.

It's not cloudwater, but a fine ale for the price (which is what BD is all about, catering for the low to mid price range and making decent ales accessible). What it lacks in body, it more than makes up for in refreshment and taste. It has to be one of the most refreshing alcoholic drinks I have ever tasted.

Regardless of brewery, as you said, you can tell breweries by flavor and aroma a mile away. So in this particular New England style IPA, why do you fault it for being " a BrewDog beer"? I like that breweries have a discernible house style myself. And not every brewery is going to crush it on every beer.

If what is typical for Brewdog is a plasticky aftertaste, then no.

So that brew-doggy aroma you mention, I think the Brewdog beers brewed in Germany don't have it in the same way. Maybe it is partially down to the water?

Tried this for the first time today and found it to be a very approachable IPA, maybe a good introductory IPA for people intimidated by overbearing hops. I loved the fruit flavors and nice full and smooth mouthfeel.

They did brew this with their house yeast (WY1272 - I believe). They have produced some small batch beers (Vermont IPA v2.0) with the Vermont Yeast (Heady Topper) strain. This was a decent beer, as was their collab with Cloudwater (New England IPA) which was also brewed witht he Vermont Yeast.

Your review of this tells me that it's very similar to the colab Brewdog did with Cloudwater. A New England IPA with that Brewdog twang! I liked it but it felt a little like a watered down punk IPA. I'm interested to try this. Cheers!

If you can get a 12 pack on offer from Tesco or ASDA for £12 it's well worth it, refreshing and hoppy IPA.

I thought this was a big step behind Verdant et al - lacklustre.
I did have it in a Brewdog Bar - does anyone else think that you get different stuff in cans v from the taps?
My friend & I had a few including Vagabond, Dead Pony Club & Cloudwater Bergamont Sour, all were different to previous bottles / cans.

I had Omnipollo's Fata Morgana years ago and that seems like it fits into this New England IPA style. Were they ahead of the curve and hijacked by American solipsism? Or does this style date back before the advent of that particular beer?

Yea they changed places where they brewed it the water quality is apparently terrible and they down the percentage to get out of paying extra tax on it but it's still a nice taking brew I know this comment is 2 years out of date but it peaked my interest 😂😂

Hi Simon did you get to the bottom of why all brewdog beers smell/taste similar they have that plastiky, rubbery end note , i get the feeling all the beer is brewed the same up to a point ,,,,, then the flavour jars come out and they tip in what ever they are trying to produce just my idea ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I drank this beer today and would somewhat agree with your assessment. It it hazy and has the appearance right, but that's about it. It totally misses the NEIPA mark. Too bitter. Too crisp. A decent citrus American IPA for sure... but NEIPA? No way. Completely misses the mark with hop bitterness and mouthfeel.

Spot on with this review....This beer is very good but not at that top level. I've noticed too over the years how upscaling the beer reduced something I cant quite put my finger on! Still my go to brand but, I am crying out for the top notch stuff!!!! I still will go to some of my local brewers who are not quite at the large scale yet and brew some small batch that are amazing...I think the whole brew-dog becoming a multinational corporation is quite Ironic..? don't you?

Sorry forgot to add.. the price does swing thing a little... got this for the equivalent of £1.33 a bottle in Sainsburys..so I cant argue really for that price its a 10/10

Beers like this make me think some smart chemist got some neutral larger and add various falours and chemicals and this is what u get. I kinda think if i added like orange squash concentrate to larger u would get this lol (but obviously the fruit squash with this would be formulated to make it take like and IPA). Reminds of scammers in the wine market who have very smart chemists who can replicate the flavour of veru expensive wines.

I think having a house yeast strain is kinda lame. Brewers are always playing around with different hop/malt combinations, manipulating their water profiles to suit certain styles, so why the hell would you not do the same with yeast? Lacks imagination / brewing skill in my opinion.
Pretty sure WY1272 is a Chico strain of some sort. Basically won't do a NEIPA style beer any justice....

Very good after a meal. Not as good by the 2nd pint... I'm leaning toward hoppy ales like Proper Job. Still refreshing by the 3rd pint. This beer 7/10. Regards. Eddie.

Patience is the byword. If ya compare breweries to the fall of The Roman Empire, then whatever sprouts up after ain't gonna taste of Sprouts! Always switch breweries. - Especially if you think they are not enjoying/cannot possibly enjoy the very beers they are spending so much on marketing. - Be Fickle (But do it with 'A Brainy Tickle')! Pound fer Pound, they'll either Die, or 'Come Around'. Love To All Good Ale Lover's. X.

They are not used to non filtration. Brewdog are becoming more irrelevant by the week? Contradicting their rebel punk gimmick. Debate.

    • @bernoulli01
      @bernoulli01 7 ปีที่แล้ว

It's hard to be rebel when you become as big as Brew Dog. But I have to give it to them, they are delivering on their mission to make craft beer for the people. You can now get a 12-pack of Punk IPA for £15. I think it's remarkable. Of course it's a completely different business than the one Cloudwater and the likes are in, and I'd usually go for something more exciting. But it can't all be £10 a litre beer.
I still find Brew Dog bars relevant. They usually have some very interesting guest beers and Brew Dog specials on.
