I used to work for brewdog Waterloo in the UK and I always felt uncomfortable around James or any of the higher ups and I'm a male so I can't imagine how some of the female staff felt :/ I thought I liked the company until I worked for them. The upper management would absolutely freak out at us when James (and whichever date he brought with him that day) walked through the door. I did not leave on the best terms .... Shocker.
It's an old story and old misinterpretation... Brew Dog never hated big beer breweries, they just hated that hey weren't one themselves. Now they are. Yawn.
Thats because people nowadays don't understand what it meant to be Punk, Punk was about being the counterculture. Nowadays you have people who claim to be Punk whilst parroting all the big corpo narratives without even a hint of self-awareness.
I don't think you quite appreciate that it can't be, they are crowd owned. You say it like it's fine for them to be taken over like they haven't changed the beer industry and aren't just as big now.
Credit to the sociopath, he well and truly harnessed the power of the parasocial relationship. It's hard to blame him though. Sure, he's a liar, and that's terrible. But they didn't look further and just accepted it all at face value. We all should be taking responsibility for our own choices, regardless of what leads us to them.
Brewdog is that hipster beer that folks love, it’s got that punk vibe, two lads that kept getting told that you need to grow and develop your business because you’re game changers, movers and shakers …. But …… the clue is in the name …. there’s an undercurrent of a rabid facade that’s fuelled by narcissism, contradictions, empty promises and a lack of genuine transparency that’s covered by a veil of deceit. A couple of Scottish “geezers” that want the same thing most folks want; money, power and respect. The founders of Brewdog may be rich now … but was it all worth it?
@@THISISLoleshthen why does everyone hate them so much. They are literally the “Bud Light” of the U.K. beer market these days. Even Gaza gets less hits than BD when it boils down to it.
I mean they're rich. So yes, definitely worth it. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks when you don't have to rely on them. I do believe that everyone should have been more aware they were being taken for a ride though. The people with tattoos are truly embarrassing. I don't think it's worth it for them..
@@wellthatsokay8582are they? I like some of their beers. They've gone back to the original Elvis Juice recipe and it's one of my favourites. I was gutted when they changed the recipe as it tasted terrible. I don't buy stuff I enjoy based on the morals of the company making them. If I did, there wouldn't be anything to enjoy because everyone is awful.
BrewDog make fantastic beers. Why focus on their imperfections? The mass producers of generic piss have destroyed competition over the years and fortunes on marketing rather than innovation. Why not point your anti-corporate propaganda at them
I wonder why the BBC has got it in for Brewdog. Every inaccuracy this so-called journalist states has not been retracted or apologised for. The BBC should get rid of these numpty amateur journalists.
Not defending him but he did have a speech impediment and bad acne and bullied at school and was very quiet, probably didn't have any GF's till college.
80% of their beers taste the same, but at least they have the balls to experiment and are constantly putting out new beers, unlike some of the tired old brewers pumping out the same tasteless crap that we've been brought up on.....to name a few... Carling, Fosters, Budweiser and similar ilk....
IF those stories are true we just hit the most clichéd of the CEOs: horny overworked lad, hitting on pretty employees while abroad... it could not get lower than this... :(
Bit of a hit job, i mean applying for tree planting grants means you can plant more trees. And planting trees is a long process to ensure it’s done right.
I still drink brewdog , couldn't care less about how a company behaves, also remember Americans get offended if you say hello to them so it's tough believing all these tales
They are running a successful business. They’ve put beer in Scotland on the map globally. Previously abroad we were known for poor beer, Tenants Export, McEwans Lager etc. They’ve worked hard and build a global brand in a short period of time. As Scots we love to back the underdog, but when they become successful we love to tear them down. Yes mistakes have been made, as in all companies, they are addressing those mistakes. But they still employ a lot of Scots and are providing jobs in Regional areas of unemployment. For the keyboard warriors, have you worked 18-20 hour days to build something your passionate about, have any of you built something from nothing and banked £100m. I say, well done boys. Your an example to young entrepreneurs that you can come from a working class background and build an empire with hard work. We have a very short lifespan as humans, why not take risks and try to make an exceptional life. All companies that grow aggressively have these issues, it’s a case of pausing, benchmarking and addressing the issues, for the next stage of growth. It’s a common issue. However being Leary towards female staff in his employ, is just not acceptable, James obviously needs some self reflection and ego checks, else his achievements will be overshadowed by his impersonation of a bar fly
Why is BBC Scotland broadcasting promo adverts multiple times every day for the last few weeks about Brewdog? I have no interest in Brewdog but I do have in a public-funded organisation blatantly spamming their content. I suspect something sinister is going on behind the doors of BBC Scotland.
I've made better homebrew than that shit they make at Brewdog. And the BBC are shady as too, so will be taking the documentary as a one sided view anyway.
Hatchet job with stories from disgruntled ex employees. (And 1 thief!) if james wants to give some ladies a private tour of his business, thats his right! If you dont like it, thats your problem! Not his!

How ironic that the indie punk beer is now as corporate and mainstream as Heineken.
It was all about money 💰

What makes them worse is that at least the big beer brands market themselves as they are and don’t masquerade themselves as ‘craft’ and ‘independent’
Isn't the whole scene a lot of masquerading though? I'm not sure what everyone expected.
I’m not buying Brewdog again there is something off about this company.
The most overrated beers, won't belong before one of the big boys come in and buy them, just over hyped beers
I don't think you quite appreciate that it can't be, they are crowd owned. You say it like it's fine for them to be taken over like they haven't changed the beer industry and aren't just as big now.
Lawsuit heading their way anyday now
Fell sorry for his ex-wife and daughters. No wonder the separation was fast. Nothing but a scammer!
Top punk capitalism.
The Scottish law and English law is completely different for name changes.

The Scottish success story business, that seemingly doesn't have any Scottish employees.
if you like the beer buy -- if you dont like the beer dont buy it -
Thanks for the upload.

Cheaper to buy from other public houses than their own & he's connected to Heineken
Brewdog nowadays is absolute trash, all has an odd chemical taste!
That's what I heard. Makes me wonder what a 'craft' beer means
BBC sure does hate BrewDog. I wonder who are funding these documentaries. 🤷🏽♂️
Everyone who pays the license fee in the uk unfortunately. BBC should maybe look at their own shady background
I will never buy anymore beer from these conmen!
So many better real ale breweries !

Well, so do thousands of other craft beer breweries (Lervig, Mikkeller, Tree House, Other Half, Mortalis, Evil Twin, Sudden Death etc.)
For what real purpose is BBC's hatchet job -- these are your TV license funds hard at work Britain.
You must be a simpleton to have tattoos of somebody's business, especially a business who abuses its own staff and runs multiple scams.
IF those stories are true we just hit the most clichéd of the CEOs: horny overworked lad, hitting on pretty employees while abroad... it could not get lower than this... :(
IPA's are my beer of choice and I enjoy the Brewdog brand. Maybe they could make a new brew called.....sourgrapes.
The hype is gone anyways. Gimme my shite lager anytime. Always drinking kronenbourg at the Oran Mor, never this IPA crap
Businessman does business. Imagine that.
Used to be good beer now its not change the water
yeah and the entire recipe

Right but they weren't applying for the grant to plant MORE trees, they were applying to plant the trees they already sold.
Brewdog beers are all disgusting
Scotney's Red Barrel
another success that lost it's way
LiKE THEIR BEER,DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR POLICIES BUT HATE THEIR LOVE OF SNP...
Punks!😂😂 my arse!

Interesting documentary as an investor myself. Without doubt a hatchet job but it clearly raises some interesting points!

Not reading all that.
Ironic AF now they're just some 'woke' corporate beer company. Imaging being a company and selling LGBT beer lol
CEO of Brewdog: th-cam.com/video/_5gfJdpgXvc/w-d-xo.html
Never did like their brand. Just seemed like virtue-signaling hipster to me.
The funny thing is that James never appears in this documentary :)
As they say in the documentary, he declined to be interviewed.
Doesn’t appear in the documentary? Did you even watch it?

It's kind sad but I do love their beer best beer I ever had.
Go out and try some other brands (Lervig, Sudden Death, Pühaste, Other Half, Monkish, Pohjala, Apex, Verdant etc.)
This is the lamest "truth about" I have ever seen. With the real problems occurring in the world... How was any of this even been considered news.
This documentary is stupid…. The technicalities on the name was lame..
I don't agree. It suggests they pretended to change their names while not actually doing it: a stunt becomes a lie.

The public gave their money to 2 Scottish millionaires so they could get a bit reacher and buy Heineken stock with it! Well done beer lovers! 🥲
