6:50 - 6:58 has to be the most amazing 8 seconds in music history. The way Gilmour echoes (no pun intended) that orchestra line with his slide is just genius!
Not only my favorite song of all time. Its my favorite performance as well. When he hits that steel guitar I get goose bumps. Almost brings tears to my eyes. This song is timeless and beautiful. In every single sense of the word.
If this is to be the very last Pink Floyd song ever...and it surely will be...then I think the band went out with one last glorious wave of sound. Not only the best song on Bell, it is easily one of the best Pink Floyd songs of them all. A fitting swansong.
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun Along the long road and on down to the causeway Do they still LIVE there by the cut There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps Running before time took our dreams away Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground To a life consumed by slow decay The grass was greener The light was brighter With friends surrounded The nights of wonder Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again Dragged by the force of some inner tide At a higher altitude with flag unfurled We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed up world **** Encumbered forever by desire and ambition There's a hunger still unsatisfied Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon Though down this road we've been so many times The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever
Great song. Sometimes I feel nostalgic and I think: "What happen if all Pink Floyd was sang this song at least one time", you know, Nick, Rick, David and Rogers. Sadly, Richard Wright is not here anymore.
God...hard to believe...almost maybe better than the album version - the playing is superb and the added strings and background vocals at the end add extra magic to this Pink Floyd masterpiece. Thank you for posting
Now that is what I call music! The music & lyrics tie in perfectly, as with all the Pink Floyd I've listened to. This is how music should be! Pink Floyd:1,000,000 Justin Beiber:-1
Guys, guys: it's awesome BUT: At 5:59, one note seems to have stayed in the steel guitar and at 7:27 - 7:29, it sounds like it's out ouf tune. Don't know if it's normal for a steel guitar to sound like this in the high notes, but it's weird. I guess Gilmour is "only" human... ^^

Muito obrigado Pink Floyd,em expecial David Gilmour, sou fã incondicional,é sem duvida para mim a melhor banda de musica de todos os tempos!.
This is the saddest story ever told in the shape of a song. Still I can't stop hearing it.
Pour moi c'est plus qu'une simple musique, c'est magique j'adore !!
Such emotional depth! Breathtaking
Encuentro paz y esperanza. Mi corazón muchas veces habla a través de Pink Floyd.

marooned, coming back to life, wearing inside out, high hopes... that album is fantastic...
then came the endless river..
I go back and forth between this and Marooned, can't decide
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road and on down to the causeway
Do they still LIVE there by the cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed up world
****
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever
the lyrics is the best of all times
The final guitar solo is amazing... like the song of course.

Best song ever.

Forever wishing time travel was a thing so that I could see this tour.

A beautiful piece centering on the dissolving of freindship, dreams, and innocence. Applicable to many lives.
Thanks a bunch for posting these.
Everytime I listen to this song, something bad happens to me...but I can't stay away.
i still remembet this song when i used to hear it and used to be so high to fly with the last solo ... the guitar was crying...
