"Sorrow" Written by singer and guitarist David Gilmour, it is the closing track on their thirteenth studio album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, released in 1987 Drummer Nick Mason has since stated that the song was almost entirely written by David Gilmour alone over the space of one weekend on his houseboat Astoria. When he returned from the weekend, only "some spit and polish", according to Mason, was needed. Gilmour has also mentioned that the solo at the end of "Sorrow" was done on the boat, his guitar going through a small Gallien-Krueger amplifier. Sorrow was a poem I'd written as a lyric before I wrote music to it, which is rare for me. - David Gilmour ADBLOCK LINK chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-%E2%80%94-best-ad-blocker/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom

@@williambaggett4445 So true. Roger thought he was Pink Floyd. After he left, the others proved he wasn't. Bet he never expected that..
@@kathleengiross , also Roger had issues when he was growing up also
@@williambaggett4445 Doesn't surprise me at all, to hear that. One line in a song he wrote, something to the effect of, "I'm angry, I'm always angry." I've always wondered why he said that..
Been a long time since I listened to this, and I'd forgotten how incredible that guitar sounds.
I just remembered this song, out of the blue, after almost 20 plus years..
It's awesome always....

I,m from libya .. i have listened to pink Floyd more tha thirty years.
David..amazing singer .
All members they are professional..they are the best band all time ..... They are history.❤
I remember listening to radio Luxembourg underneath my bedclothes on my transistor radio,1967, Arnold Lane, Pink Floyd. So now listening to David Gilmour , sorrow. Wow it just doesn’t get any better than this. Mind blowing, take me now.
Greatest band the world ever had
Ever. 🤘
Gilmour is a God! His guitar speaks to us. It’s beautiful. He is pure energy. He’s absolutely amazing!!!
@KAT 1 and 2. No doubt.
It is a matter of taste....in my opinion that statement is a gross exaggeration. There were innovators in the '70, one extraordinary album (DSOM) , three or four BIG songs, but then...average musicians (except Gilmour), average compositions.
Sorry, Led Zeppelin for me. But Floyd is up there.
Me faz VIAJAR pelas nuvens!!! Curitiba/Brazil
Salve de Apucarana 🙌🏽
And don't forget their stage guys what a job they do for the show!!!
These remastered tracks are Outstanding!!!!!
thank you , thank you , THANK YOU!!!!!!!
God bless my Brothers and Sisters.
Amazing at 65 I feel I've packed up but Gilmour keeps going. I thank him for the music guitar playing like no other and the incredible concerts I went to will never be another.
We will never get this again so thrilled to have witness this live on 3 different occasions
Pink Floyd- forever. !!!
Another masterpiece by Pink Floyd. David Gilmour a legend and Godather of the electric guitar 🎸!
A true master of his instrument. Perfection.

One of the, if not my favorite Pink Floyd tunes ever !!
David is the best of all times. No one is even close to what he is.
Buckethead is Gilmouresce in some of his pikes!! IMO

This is what we call a great guitar solo!! Genius!!
Absolutely Brilliant. Flawless
Could not ask for more. True Genious 🤘
What a masterpiece! What a performance! What a band! What a music! What a solo!! But let me tell you that I am catched here by the lyrics.. seems that it talks about my sad story with my only real love that I have just lost.. I love a girl that was forced by some circumstances to leave me and marry an other dude who doesn't desearve her and even she doesn't want..Yes she's married by now and I can't get her out of my existance whatever I tried.. so like in the lyrics I am haunted by the memory of a lost paradise.. there is dust in my eyes that blinds my sight.. silence that speaks so much louder than words of promises broken.. I am chained forever to a word that's departed..
Sorry guys for bothering you with that story but trust me I am in a real deep grim since almost five months and I needed to talk..
Thanks for your patience and special thanks to the greatest, to the artist, to M. David Gilmour..
Greetings from Morocco
Nick Mason's best drumming ever in my opinion. Its almost like he is playing with a vengeance. (the album version of aMoLTr used a drum machine)
David Gilmour is a Master Guitarist!
He's not as bad as you say.
Never in history has been such a band with such soul...heaven is with them!!!
The best and the most perfect band ever!!!! No more words to express that.

Love seeing Richard, though it's heartbreaking that he's gone.
Rick Wright, David Bowie, and Tom Petty have caused me the most sadness as we lose our rock and roll heros....
When we lost Richard Wright & Keith Emerson two of the all time greatest keyboardists were lost. 😦

Probably the most beautiful song to me from Pink, next to coming back to life.
I don’t think Pink Floyd has a song that isn’t beautiful
Glad to see I wasn’t the only touched by Gilmore’s solos. I used to listen to then and wonder if I was just me seeing how beautiful that was. Maybe I was just born on the wrong place
Leo Fender had certainly never imagined this stratocaster potential
Legend Gilmour 🐖
David's red Strat from this tour was set up with the EMG DG20 pickups. They have more output than the Strat standard pickups used at this time

@@cosimomazzotta lucky you, awesome experience to have , esp in that place.
The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky
A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers
But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking
He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
In his youth or a dream, he can't be precise
He's chained forever to a world that's departed
It's not enough, it's not enough
His blood has frozen and curdled with fright
His knees have trembled and given way in the night
His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
His step has faltered
One world, one soul
Time pass, the river roll
And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
A grim intimation of what is to be
There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder than words
Of promises broken

Pink Floyd was a group I tried to get into several times and couldn't, I then caught this track a year ago and just keep playing it, have slowly began to listen to more of their songs. I just love this track and especially the guitar playing. Absolutely superb
Hope Floyd grow on you , The Final Cut album is very good & has some great insights regarding the way the World's Woes unravelled & some rare auld tunes aswel otherwise i wouldn't suggest it to you . Take Care . All good thing's take time .
I was at one of the shows on this tour the london residency something like 9 sellout shows. I remember my seat shaking when this track starts with Dave's opening solo it hit me in the stomach. What power never happened at any other gig I have ever been to greatest show on planet earth period!
Same here. The seats shook with that note. What power. All in the hands of the master, David Gilmour.
Thank you Mr. Gilmour for all your wonderful music!
People either don't realize or have forgotten, just how big of an event the release of AMLOR really was. I was working in college radio at the time and we were constantly inundated with requests to play tracks from the album. It was a very exciting time!
"Sorrow" Written by singer and guitarist David Gilmour, it is the closing track on their thirteenth studio album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, released in 1987
Drummer Nick Mason has since stated that the song was almost entirely written by David Gilmour alone over the space of one weekend on his houseboat Astoria.
