Hi Jonah, thanks for the review. When compared as just a soundbar and a system in whole, How is this soundbar vs Sonos arc ? As they both are in same price bracket. I am looking to get a whole system asap with Sony A80j 55”. HT-A5000 or Sonos arc. Which one you suggest?
I have a question 🤔 sorry if it sounds dumb I got the hta5000 soundbar I was going to get the new rear speakers with it make it a 7ch system after because the hdmi audio extractor I'm ordering has up to 5ch
Imho after having used the A7000+SW5+RS3S for the past few months, i can only say i aboslutely love it and have had 0 issues whatsoever. Recently the 360Spatial Sound Mapping update came out and it improved it even further. At first i was really concerned about replacing my Sonos Arc+Sub+OneSL but when i thought about it, i never even used the whole multiroom thing and the sony can do the same thing using google home. But vs my arc, the a7000 definitely sounds more immersive. The RS5S will come in soon and heard them at a local dealer who got an early allocation, and they changed the a7000 for the better, taking it up at least... how to say.. like 40% better in terms of "Immersiveness"? I can really see this soundbar being the absolute best this year with the new RS5S. I really have no idea how Rtings scored it so badly, i compared it to my own arc and the bose/samsung and the a7000 took the cake.

Yes please. I just got my HT-A9 and I’m very happy with it. Unless the A7000 is way better, I’ll just keep the A9. I have 60 days to return though just in case.
What’s useful about these surrounds is the wife approval factor. You can leave them powered off in the tv cabinet charging for normal day to day stuff, and then for a movie take them out and turn them on and do the quick optimization. The soundbar seamlessly changes its sound when adding or removing the surrounds, so it can be done with very little effort.
14:00 - I unfortunately have a high ceiling that is angled. Will the rear speakers and subwoofer help improve the surround sound? Cause I notice in the visual when you optimize it, it shows a hemisphere.
I have this same system but with the older surrounds of course. When you do your full review could you test the HDMI connectivity because on occasion I do have some issues with video to my Sony A80J TV. And yes the new 360 firmware puts the system on another level.
Great review Jonah. Sony website only had three RS5 left online today. I ordered one. Earlier this week the Sony website was sold out. I got the complete Sony package x91J, 7000, SW5, and RS5. Sounds killer so far. I cant wait to test these RS5 bad boys out. Love the channel man.
This setup or HT-A9 with sub, waiting to buy an A80K (if reviews are good) but don’t know which way to go with audio, first time I’ve been able to invest in a premium entertainment system I’ve worked so hard for so I don’t wanna regret my purchase.
I wonder how easy it is to change battery on the RS5 when time comes? And that could very well be before one expects it. If by accident you leave it discharged and it with a little time goes below what protection circuit will allow you to recharge then you might not guaranteed need new cells but you need to be able to disassemble it, measure cells manually before determing them safe to recharge (protection circuits usually have rather high threshold value) and then manually by bypass give them a gentle boost to charge above threshold. I mean they're not exactly cheap and I can see myself using them for 10 years or more. I can do basic electronics repair but whether it'll be a nice job or not depends on how easy they are to dis/reassemble without breaking anything.
Hey Jonah. When is your full review coming out? And while it may be extra work, it would be great for a separate review of the HTA 7000 without the sub and rears, before and after the software update. I wonder how different the sound processing actually is. All the best!
Great review, seems like some missed opportunities on those rears for sure, hopefully some firmware updates to come. Stereo mode (where soundbar can optionally be disabled) as you suggested definitely needed. But also having the ability use them independent of the whole system would give them some real appeal. I suspect the majority of people don't have so little space that they'll "bring them out" and put them away for movie night, so the ability to use them for example as a pair on the outdoor patio... would actually be useful. Hopefully they actually have wifi radios in them? Otherwise distance from soundbar could be a limitation.
Definitely was a good video, however seem the HT-A5000 missing a lot of useful features compared to HT-A9, as I saw there is no Cinema mode, Immersive Audio Enhancement and not sure if you like to listen on a high level, but I cant listen anything on level 70, to me with the HT-A9 gets really loud between 35-45.
Can you choose to turn off rears when not watching a movie or they automatically turn on when the system is turn on? I want to mount them and conserve battery when im not watching content that needs that rear sound
Just curious, does your cat scratch the cloak on the subwoofer? i am thinking of buying sony A9 and the sub (SR5 or SR3), but i hesitate because of my cat
Hello Jonah: Need suggestion, I have LG C2 OLED 83" and got one Sony A3000 at discounted price ~$330 (Which I can return, if needed) The Tv wall setup what I have does not have good room for upward firing speaker (its inclosed inside cabinet), so I thought I will add two rear speaker (SA-RS5) with my A3000, will that give WoW effect or Shall I return A3000 and got something else. TV distance from my OLED is 12 feet.
Hey great video… couple of questions regarding the RS5…. 1. When I power off the soundboard, do the RS5 power off the same time? 2. The power supply for the RS5, is it 100-240V voltage?

Anyone has that set? Would love to hear how it sounds. Shame the adapters on the SA RS5's are so big. And... what is the exact length off the power cable of the SA RS5? Thanks in advance.
