I'm very excited! I rebased my Beastmen onto rounds before I realized how much I disliked AoS. I'm painting up a third-party Dwarf Army now (Highland Miniatures) because I knew the base sizes for infantry. Once the rules are out, I will rebase my Beastmen, Ogres, Skaven, and maybe Digs of War armies.

Was very tempted by this. Still on the fence but most likely will stick with 3rd edition. I might buy some of the yoemen if they are not too expensive. The prices dropped also and just the minimum rules needed are $170.

They won't. Infantry bases are bigger then older editions.

I like regimental bases and I would love 30mm x 150mm so I can place 5 of them in a row. 120mm for 4 is also fine. However, the new WFB rules do have a lot of pivoting going on, which makes the regimental bases harder to use. I wish GW had thought of the practicality of that rule.

The only positive is that a people on Etsy that sell MDF bases are going hopefully going to have a field day with orders. Frankly not a fan of the overpriced GW bases and the fact that they're actually a bit harder to pick up (the slanted base doesn't cooperate with my 51 year old fingers) so straight laser cut MDF for me.

This is a very good thing and I cant wait to get me some dwarves. If you love warhammer fantasy you should support this because if it dosnt work out this time you better believe there wont be another comeback after this. It will be gone forever.

I feel like this isn't positioned as a flagship product like it used be maybe less pressure this time, although I want it to sell well and get more investment.

I remember this was announced in 2019 during covid and the dream was BIG. I was looking for new plastic models, what a letdown.

Id bet there are two reasons for not completely redoing all the models. First is the most important, Interest. They arnt going to retool and redo everything and then this turns out to be a niche product with minimal sales, the reason they blew up WFB or one of them was the lower sales. So they arnt going to invest 100s of Thousands of dollars in new designs or making new plastic molds for the metal kits unless there is a market. Second is age of the molds. Im guessing they had redone some of the WFB molds less than 5 or 10 years before they did The End Times. Considering those molds can have a 15 to 20 year life depending on use they likely want to get their investment out of the mold and go ahead and run it for 2-4 years, or less if interest is enough and they are pumping out enough to run the mold out quicker.
Add those two together and yeah they arnt going to completely retool the entire Fantasy model line until they know this will be selling like crazy. Id say you want new designs then Old World will have to become their number 2 or 3 selling game. For sure its going to have to beat out AoS to get new designs, and it might have to beat HH to get a decent investment.
