The straight edge on the Fiskers does take some getting used to. Whatever it takes to make sure your tools are work for you instead of having to do the work yourself is exactly what you should be doing. Great Video!!! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching and I have to admit I never noticed just how straight the edged on the Fiskars is. Your right by the way the whole idea is to have the tool do the work and this does do the job.
Good one LD. Mister Rogers of the back country, Dave should get a laugh out of that. When it comes to being out in the Woods with an axe it’s going to be an axe file and maybe a stone. I will shine it up when I get home.
Thanks for watching and yes, Dave is so calm, it is just relaxing watching some of his videos. I also do as you, I got home and cleaned up the edge of that hatchet.
Thanks for the comment and yes, for the price the Fiskars does a pretty good job. I too wish they made one with a longer handle so it would me more ax and less hatchet.
Ok, so I have a sharp ax now. If only I had the arm strength to cut wood. 😂 any suggestions for me on an easier way of cutting wood? Maybe a saw. What kind would you recommend?
I can sharpen an axe pretty good but I still haven't gotten a good edge on a knife. It'll get sharp but dulls super fast. Even with a high carbon knIfe so idk? I have a higher dollar Buck knife ( Alpha Wolf or Alpha Hunter or some such thing) and I swear I processed start to finish 4 deer, 2 squirrel, 2 ducks and a pike before it needed sharpening. I take that one to a pro to get sharpened because I'm afraid I will ruin it. Like I did my fillet knIfe, which is why I had to use my Buck knife on a pike.
Brer. taking it to a pro to have it sharpened is not a bad idea when you have an expensive knife. I know how I would feel it I took a wonderful blade and messed it up. Like you I am not at my best with sharpening an axe. But my Mora knife, which is carbon steel, that I can get scarry sharp using a diamond stone.
whatever gets the job done. 99% of us aren't fancy and aren't competing, we just need something that works.
Thanks for your comment and you are correct, not competing, just doing what works and considering the price for me that is a rather large bonus.

Good vid! Whatever gets it done! The fiskars is a dandy axe! Wish they made one with a 19 inch handle though!
