    Omg pls look at this comment @101Rabbits, we used to own Ebony when we were little, though we weren’t good rabbit owners, and didn’t know how to treat them or how to bond etc. So we were compelled to give her to a shelter 5 years ago. We only saw Ebony on this channel recently as we are thinking of getting new rabbits and treating them the way they deserve,( by using your tips so thanks a lot 😃👍). Well me and my sister just wanted to say that we are VERY grateful that she has gone to an amazing owner, keep taking care of her for us!! ❤️ , pls give this comment a like so hopefully 101Rabbits see it. ❤️

    Thank you for giving Lulu such an amazing life, even through old age theres so much love and heart you put into taking care of her. This video reminds me of my senior rabbit. She died at 9 years old from a different health problem and also had arthritis. I used to groom her a lot on top of my washing machine as well..so this video definitely brought out a lot of emotion for me, I wish I could've had the chance to try arthritic relievers and therapies for my rabbit. Please do more videos of this stuff, and of the rabbit massages. I used to massage my rabbit to relieve pain, I think they appreciate it. But I'm still interested in learning more, so I look forward to these videos based on senior rabbit care.

      Oh yeah! For those of us who had rabbits in the dark ages, watching these videos is so guilt-inducing. Atleast I was free roam, but it was all pellets and water bottles. When my senior got weak back lags, the vet said it was just nature's way of weeding out older prey animals. We didn't even know it was arthritus

    I recommend glucosamine! I tried Cosequin for my buns (the cat kind), but my bun Spike hated the tuna flavor, lol. Ophelia didn't mind, goofball. I recommend Oxbow's Joint Supplements, which are glucosamine tabs. I can't believe the improvement I've seen in Spike since giving him two joint tabs a day (in addition to small doses of metacam, which didn't help on its own, surprisingly).

I have a very young bunny who enjoys massages (no health reasons, I guess it's partially because she's very active), but it's a trial-and-error. Question. I have two rabbits. One just turned one year old and the other is 3 months old. I keep them both in a play pen while im at work and are free roam while at home. They both ate young rabbit pellets. But now my one year old should start eating a portioned amount of adult pellets. Would u keep each rabbit in a seperate cage so that they dont eat each others pellets?? They are bonded and are used to being around eachother.

    • @101rabbits
      @101rabbits  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If both rabbits are spayed and neutered and already live together, I would not separate them. Just separate them for feeding times or feed the younger one adult pellets as it wont hurt them. Rabbits don't technically need pellets at all, so I wouldn't worry to much about pellets and feeding separately.

    HELP
    Hi, this may be a lot but I need help and advice! So whats wrong is that my parents surprised me with a bunny cage with pellets, and bedding.. but, the cage is only around 1X3 ft and they won't want to return it or buy anything else because they already spent a lot of money on it and we wouldn't have room for an x-pen. Also I did a ton of research on your channel and found out that the pellets weren't good for my rabbit, and how she shouldn't drink from the bottles that she has been drinking from but she's been eating the pellets and drinking from the bottles her whole life so my mom says that we don't need to change the type of food or the bottles (which I tried to put the water in a bowl and she said no because "it will spill" and I asked to buy timothy hay pellets instead of the type they bought, but she said its to expensive.) Please help me, what do I do???
    P.S. If I try to say anything about this stuff my parents will think that I'm just going crazy and they will say "well if this stuff is really as bad as you say, then how is she still alive?" so I can't say stuff or they will literally get annoyed and mad.

      I don't know if I'm late tbh! I had the same issue with my rabbits and other pets too.my parents said "bars on the cage are fine"(bout hamsters) I just told her the issue and she didn't seem to care like "they're lying ect. but then when my rabbit went to the vet I got a rabbit care thing and showed my parents as it pointed out the right stuff for rabbits and we now have good food,large cages ect! it really helps and I hope this helps you too;) + Abby Dotson

    So I’m planning on getting a rabbit but my parents don’t really want me to because my other animals will attack it. (Especially my cat.) and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to keep the rabbit safe. Also another couple of questions is how big should the cage be and how old should I get my rabbit at?

    • @AWMC2023
      @AWMC2023 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have other aggressive pets a rabbit might not be right for your family right now. I know the last think you’d want is for a bunny to get hurt or killed and that’s possible in a dangerous home. You’d have to have a way to keep the bunny completely separate but still indoors.
      The pest cage size is an ‘x-pen’. They are dog exercise pens and are a good size for a rabbit to live in, besides the x pen a bunny should also get a couple hours outside their cage to stretch their paws.
      The best place to get a rabbit is animal shelters 100%!!! The rabbits there tend to be pure bred and very socialized and sweet. Rabbits get euthanized so often because of how often they’re given up by unprepared or young owners. Another plus is that they’ll be spayed or neutered for free (a $300 surgery).
      Please do more research before getting a rabbit as well, they are VERY high maintenance and expensive pets. A nearby exotic vet and extra funds are a MUST. Rabbits get sick very very easy and have much pricier vet bills than a cat or dog.
      Rabbits have very complicated and sometimes pricey diet requirements like unlimited hay, limited pellets, and limited veggies. You should also keep in mind it’s not nice to the bunny to have just one. This means doubling all costs so your bun can have a friend. If you and your family ever seriously intend to get a bun make sure your parents know all this aswell.
      Please also do research outside of just TH-cam. Read as many websites and forums as you can, watch lots and lots of TH-cam how to videos to make sure you’re very well versed in rabbit care.

      If you are going to let it run loose then do NOT buy a buny. But if you are not and you are going to hold him or her once in awhile and you close the door you will be fine

    • @GreymanWalking
      @GreymanWalking 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend a cage to be honest. I use an Xpen (when I'm sleeping) so they can move around and stand up and what not. As far as how old, 8-12weeks but look at your local animal shelters to see if there is any to adopt first because bunnies need homes too. Slowly introduce your bunnies to the other animals and monitor all interactions between them. Most Indoor cats will probably be curious and may try to play with them but you can discourage that behavior and just prevent their interaction. If you keep the rabbits in a separate room (such as a bedroom) you can just not allow the cat in (close the door). Otherwise if you don't think you can keep them separated I would suggest not getting a rabbit.

    Curious why you use the Gabapentin? Everything else makes tons of sense, and is pretty standard... but Gabapentin in a pain killer for nerve pain, so it doesn't make sense to be using it for arthritis, joint pain, or sore hocks.

    • @101rabbits
      @101rabbits  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here is a good explanation I could find about using Gabapentin in chronic pain patients:
      "Because it appears to work specifically in the nervous system, gabapentin has also shown promise in a variety of nervous system issues, such as seizures and anxiety. It also is a particularly helpful drug for managing chronic pain, which is defined as pain that has been present for over six months. It’s a challenge to find medications that specifically target chronic pain, so it’s reassuring that gabapentin has been helpful for these patients."

    • @101rabbits
      @101rabbits  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So is definitely not a guinea pig. All of these treatments are 100% safe and have been used with arthritic rabbits all over the US for YEARS! The only reason we have to "test" them is because each rabbit is different and responds to treatments differently. Same with humans. That is why we have so many different types of medicines because some humans react differently to things. If we only had one treatment, people who didn't show improvement from that would suffer. That is why there are many treatment options that help different people. Also, each treatment helps with different areas. For example, massage therapy helps loosen up the muscles and increase blood flow to the body which helps the body to overall function better. However it doesn't help so much with the pain that comes from arthritis. That is why I also use a pain medication to help keep her happy and comfortable. Laser therapy works at a deeper level and helps stimulate healing which can heal sores, wounds, and even help with arthritis. Something other treatments don't do. Adequan shots helps restore joint lubrication, relieve inflammation, renew the building blocks of healthy cartilage. Something that pain medication and other therapies don't help with. This is why I choose to do different therapies with my bunny. To make sure I am working all angles to target the symptoms and help treat the problem. I would never do any treatments that were not tested and approved to be safe for rabbits. I also would never do anything a veterinarian didn't want me to do. She most definitely isn't a "test" subject what soever.
